Lower Leagues Rule
Can you follow Hull's example The Premise After promotion in the 2007/08 season can you make it to the top of the Premiership at Christmas. The premise of this is simple, choose one of the newly promoted sides in the Premiership (If you like can attempt it with the lower Leagues as well, I'll add this list later) so thats West Brom, Stoke or Hull and playing the demo have them sitting atop the league on Christmas day. The Story You step into the boots of [insert manager name here] following them managing to get your club promoted in the previous season, your board expect you to avoid relegation and attempt to stay up. As manager you have greater ambitions, you not only think you can avoid relegation, but you believe you can fight it out with the big boys and sit atop the league. You decide to put all your efforts into giving your fans a Christmas Present by being atop the league on that most magical of days. Whether you decide to progress tactically or through the transfer market you know you have the managerial skills to fill some massive boots... The Rules I am not going to have many rules, but I just ask for a couple of things. 1) A starting screenshot of your club and your manager 2) A Picture of the League Table on December 25th 3) That you only sign players you are able to scout or get on loan. Anything else is up to you. The Teams Hull City Finances: Secure Value: 26M Prediction: 20th Training: Good Youth: Average Background Founded in 1904, Hull City are a professional English club currently playing in the English Premier League. The club play their home games at The Circle and possess good training facilities and an average youth setup. The club is affectionately known as The Tigers and retains fierce rivalries with Leeds United, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe United. The club enjoyed probably their best spell of success during the 1960s. Although now enduring a forty-two year barren spell, having not won a competition since 1966, The Tigers have a history of which they can be justly proud. Hull's only ever competition win came in the English Third Teir in 1966 while finishing runners-up twice. Can you break the drought, or at least lead them close by Christmas? Stoke Finances: Secure Value: 31.5M Prediction: 19th Training: Good Youth: Average + Academy Background Founded in 1863, Stoke City are a professional English club currently playing in the English Premier League. The club play their home games at Britannia Stadium and possess good training facilities and an average youth setup. The club is affectionately known as The Potters and retain fierce rivalries with Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. As a club which enjoyed its best spell of success during the 1960s and their last competition win coming as recently as 2000, The Potters are a club with a growing history. Stoke won the League Cup in 1972 and finished runners-up on one occasion, won the English 2nd Tier in 1933 & 1963, and finished runners-up on two other occasions, they also won the third tier in 1993 & have twice taken out the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in 1992 & 2000. So your mission to build on the success of the past and try to take them to the top of England. West Brom Finances: Secure Value: 39.5M Prediction: 17th Training: Top Youth: Good + Academy Background Founded in 1878, West Bromwich Albion are a professional English club currently playing in the English Premier League. The club play their home games at The Hawthorns and possess top training facilities and a good youth setup. The club is affectionately known as The Baggies and retains a fierce rivalry with Wolverhampton Wanderers. As a club which enjoyed its best spell of sucess during the 1920s and with a competition win in in 2008, The Baggies are a club with a growing history. West Brom won the English top division for the only time in 1920 and finished runners-up on two occasions, they have won the FA Cup five times and made the final another five times, they won the League Cup in 1966 and the English Second Tier in 1902, 1911 & 2008. So from top of the Championship can they make it top by Christmas, the task is yours. Final Wishes I will be having a shot at this in a couple of hours, first in the Premiership and then I might give it a go in one of the lower english leagues. Good Luck everyone. Lower Leagues Rule
July 8th Des Tiny's Stoke City I decided to have my first attempt with Stoke City. So lets all welcome Des Tiny to the team as he has told the board he can win the title and has been given a 7.5mil Transfer Budget and a wage budget of 325k per week. This is only 50k more than the club is currently spending which is where the worry will develop. Des' own contract is worth 6k per week and there 16 players earning more than him, my next mission is to check out who is likely to remain in my squad for this challenge and start looking to build some new faces before the season starts with us facing Portsmouth on August 16th. Oh and for me to post my opening Press Conference statements, hopefully the news report shows the one I want it too.
