8.0.2 Patch: Download Mirrors for all Versions and Instructions for Installation

Download the patch from one of the following mirrors (originally uploaded by iceshaker). Ensure it is the correct one for your version of Football Manager 2008.

- For the www.ut3.yourfirstcreditcard.com links below you can click on it to initiate the download or right click and select 'Save Target As'.

- For the rapidshare mirrors click the link to bring you to the rapidshare page. If you are familiar with rapidshare and have a premium account then you know the score. If you aren't then scroll the page down a bit and click on the 'Free User' button. This will initiate a countdown. When the countdown completes click on the 'Download' button (a blue circle with download written in white and a white arrow pointing downwards above it) to start the download.

- When you click to start the download the standard Windows dialog will appear. For convenience select 'Save' and save it to your desktop by selecting the desktop location in the location dialog interface that appears after you click save.

- wait for the download to complete. When it is finished you will see a rar file appear in the location you selected (it looks like three books stacked on top of each other, green -> blue -> purple from the bottom up, with a belt wrapped around it). It will have a name comparable to the version of the game you have e.g. for Football Manager 2008 Boxed it is fm2008_802_boxed_pc. If you do not see a rar file this means you do not have the necessary software to extract the file.

STEPS IF YOU DO SEE A RAR FILE

- right click the file and select 'extract here'. Wait for it to do it's thing. When it is finished a new file will appear on your desktop which looks like the standard FM 08 shortcut (a purple circle with 08 written on it in grey).

- disable any anti-spyware or anti-virus you have running as these have been known to interfere with the patching process.

- ensure FM 2008 and the Data Editor are closed.

- make sure in the next step to run the patch from an administrative account or allow it to run as an administrator by right clicking and selecting said option. If those words make no sense to you then try google (or whichever search engine you prefer) or the Help & Support section of your operating system (usually found in Windows in Start menu) to find out the necessary information.

- Double click the new file that appeared on your desktop in the previous step and the patch will self install.

- to confirm a successful installation start FM in your normal manner, load a save game and go to Options > Game Status and next to version you should see 8.0.2

- save games are backwards compatible i.e. a game started in previous versions of 08 can be continued in the patched version. The opposite does not apply.

STEPS IF YOU DO NOT SEE A RAR FILE

- go to http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm and scroll down to see WinRAR 3.71 with 'Trial' written under the 'license' column.

- right click and save to your desktop or click to save to your desktop. When it finishes downloading install the trial version of WinRAR by double clicking this file wrar371.exe. Follow whatever instructions there are to install, in particular if it asks to reboot once finished then do this. Once you have successfully installed this you should now see a rar file as described previously. Go to 'STEPS IF YOU DO SEE A RAR FILE' and follow the instructions to install the patch.

Google "run as administrator" including the quotes or follow what was written (right click and select the option). The reason I posted like that is because not everyone is an administrator for whatever machine they are running the game on and may not have the options available or know the relevant passwords where necessary.

Where did you get the game? Did you buy it in the shop or buy the digital download online?
