The birth of a Super League

General Carlos "El Loko" Escobar has taken Peru by force and the dictator wants to put the country in the world map. Being a massive fan of fooball he decided that the easiest way to make his country famous was to create a new "Superliga" in Peru. The state of club football in Peru was atrocious, all stadiums in horrible conditions and the clubs records in international football were an embarrassment. So using the funds originally planned for the restauration of Inca monuments such as Machu Picchu and on the improvement of the countries infrastrucutre, the wise man decided to replace the current First Division sides with 12 new clubs.

    The "chosen" 12

His 12 sons (the General was a very fertile/unfaithful man) would take charge of the new clubs. Each club would become a 60 000 all seater stadium, that could be doubled in size if tere was future demand. All clubs will also become top training and youth facilities + a Yotuh Acedemy. Each club would become £200 million, half of it as a transfer budget. In addtion to this, each club would become any South American manager they wanted, two South American super stars and 5 top Peruvian players.

Now everynoe knows where Peru is!

The news circulated the world and the Peruvian Superliga became broadcasting offers from left, right and centre. This raised the profile of the league, its reputaion was as high as the Spanish "La Liga". South American football as a whole profited from the saga. The Copas Libertadores and Sudamericana were as reputable as the Champions League and UEFA Cup. The Brazilian and Argentinian leagues enjoyed a reputation as high as the top European Leagues, while countries like Colombia, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay also had their leagues become more attractive. So the beginning of this controversial era looked bright for South American football, especially for the new "power house" that Peru was going to become.

    Notes

    1. League Reputations

Here are the new league and cup reputations:

    Copa Libertadores = 20
    Copa Sudamericana = 16
    Peruvian Superliga = 19
    Brazilian + Argentinian First Divisions = 18
    Colombian + Uruguayan First Divisions = 16
    Chilean + Praguayan First Divisions = 15
Bolivian, Equadorian + Venezualean First Divisions = 13

    2. Loaded leagues and Superliga information

All South American First Divisions will be loaded on a large database with all players from Peru. The current Peruvian First Division sides will be moved to the unplayable Second Division. Their Club Reputations wont be changed, so it will be interesting to see if they will be able to compete with the new super clubs once they are promoted. All Superliga club reputations will be set to 8500 (as high as Juventus and Bayern Munich).

    3. Information and Guidelines to the Sign-Up Form

If you follow this link it will take you to google maps. If you type in Peru in search box it will give you an overview with the biggest cities in the country. The city choice is going to be important as all the brothers hate each other and any clubs in the same city will be rivals. All chairmen wil be set as Sugar Daddys as daddy will surely keep helping.

Each club will start with no players apart from the 7 you can choose from. The selection restrictions are the following:

1 South American player based in Europe
1 South American player based outside of Europe
1 Peruvian player based in Europe
4 Peruvian players based outside of Europe

You can only choose one player from any club, i.e. you cannot pick two players from Alianza Lima.

I know that finding players may be difficult, but I want people to make an effort as it will show me that everyone signing up will post regularly. However, if I realise that everyone is struggling I will post a suggestion list.

The order of sign up will be important as the first 3 people to sign up will be last years champion, runner-up and third place respectively + will be entered into the Libertadores. The 4th and 5th people to sign-up will be entered into the Copa Sudamericana. I will already include my application into this post, but I am not going to be one of the clubs playing internationally, you could say I am a very generous man. To sign-up all you need to do is copy the form in this post and replace my entries with yours.

As for Kits and Logos, I have no clue how to do them, but if anyone is willing to make them for me, thank you very much.

I hope I have not forgotten anything and any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

    And finally "The Form"

    Quite pointlessly...

I feel there may be some serious problems with altitude at your stadium in Machu Picchu being over 2000m above sea level

Thanks for joining up JoseRR, it must have been quite an effort with the tags, nice to see that you re committed

Only a couple of things wrong with the form, Adriano was a good shot but as he is under contract at Inter I wont consider him eigible, Renato Augusto is a good pick though. Juan Carlos Marino is also not eligible as he plays for an European side (Hercules are in the Spanish Second Division). Apart from that its all perfect!!

It will give us a good advantage internationally, mainly against those lazy Rio sides

Well it was worth a shot with Adriano anyway . Just had another look at FM so could I replace Juan Carlos Marino with:

    Pedro Ascoy (Alianza Atletico) (AM/FC)?

    Cheers!

    I like it

Just one small question, you mention that the city choice is important but there's no city selection option on the form. Should there be, or are you going to assign cities to each club yourself?

I'll add mine in a moment before all the best Peruvian players get snapped up; Damn you Haowon for stealing Manco first Be interested to see how he turns out in this challenge because I have him in my Uruguay save and his stats are really poor considering.

The city needs to be in Peru, if you type in Peru into google maps you get a good overview of the big cities that are available.

weeman27bob: You havent picked any players anyone picked before but you have picked to players from the same team so you need to replace either Óscar Manuel Ibáñez Holzmann or Roberto Jiménez.

Haowan, for that same reason I cant accept Marko Ciurlizza, so you need to replace him unless you want to give Manco over to McTavish

McTavish, with you mastering iseemonsters challenge I expect you to pick some good players

Don't want to seem like I'm trying to take over mate, so apologies if it appears that way, simply I have noticed that weeman27bob has a player called 'Ernesto Seikō Arakaki Arakak (Alianza Lima)', while I have 'Ernesto Arakaki (Alianza Lima)' so I wanted to check if he is a different player to mine, with the ver similar names and both playing for the same team and all

Looking good so far mate so KUTGW

Like McTavish suggested, everytime someone picks their players it would be good if they added them to the top list and take them off the bottom list.

P.S. Sorry about the whole confusion. This is my first sign-up and I didnt foresee this problem...

Looks like that worked, only in your excel spreadsheet align all columns left and make sure the cells are large enough. Oh, and {HR} is for a horizontal rule, helps keep things neat.

    1 2 3 4
    <hr class="ev_code_hr" />

You have to put a / in the second code tag though, otherwise well done for finding the line, didn't know about that

So the code tags look like this (without spaces):

    [ code]
    1 2 3 4
    [ hr]
    a d g j
    b e h k
    c f i l
    [/ code]

    Between us we got there

    Last quick little lesson corinthiano

You cant put bold tags (Or most other tags) in code, hence you have to:

    Peruvian Players Suggestion List

    Based Outside Europe

    Goalkeepers
    <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

    Name: Club: Value: Age:
    Diego Penny Bolognesi 1M 23
    Leao Butron USMP 850k 30
Jorge Rivera Alianza Atletico 650k 29
Johnny Vegas Sport Ancash 625k 31
    Juan Flores Cienciano 575k 31
    </pre>

    Next Section

    <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
    1 2 3 4
    </pre> <hr class="ev_code_hr" />
    <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">a b c d
    a b c d
    </pre>
I think you were trying to do that anyway! (I put it in quotes to make it easier to read.) Think it has been a lesson for us all tonight

Now just hope all the tags work!

ridleys, due to a mistake of mine there is no field asking for city in the original form. I still need a Peruvian city from you though, sorry about that. If you go to google maps and type in peru you get a nice overview with all the bigger cities.

I will pick the manager and south american player for you, but a few posts up there is a list with suggested peruvian players that you can have a look at if you want. If you also want me to choose them, it is no problem.

Samuel Vimes, your form is perfect, thank you!

Dodgee D, everything perfect with your form, the city of Mayobamba isnt even in the database, but as you went through the effort of researching such an obscure city I ve added it in I ve picked Muricy Ramalho as your manager, he has won the last two Brazilian Serie A titles with Sao Paulo, so I m sure he s up to the task!!

BP_Doosra, name changed and everything is correct now

Man Cuty Supporter, as BP_Doosra posted his correction before you, Alexander Sanchez and Gregorio Bernales have become unavailable, sorry, below is one last update of the list.

With regards to the database I am only waiting on one information from McTavish. I need to know which Sebastian Battaglia he wants to take away from Boca. The young AM LC or the experienced DM, M RC.

I am going to upload all the club info screens so that people can tell me whether kits, stadiums etc. are in order.

I am going to do a couple of seasons testing to see if everything runs smoothly, so lets say 17:00 BST is the deadline for a response and then we can get going

Screenshots to be uploaded in the next half an hour.

Thanks for the manager - he looks good. I hope he's good at developing youth as I've gone for some young guns with my picks.

Thanks for adding Mayobamba. I just followed your link to Google maps and thought I'd go for the funniest sounding name.

Looks like this wil be fun!

As I took a bit longer than expected to put up the screenshots, i will extend the deadline for change requests until 17:30 BST.

So if anything is wrong with kit, club name, stadium, etc. just let me know!!

There has been one problem already, Carlos Bianchi retires as soon as the game starts, so Samuel Vimes please name another manager. If you dont name one until the deadline I will pick one for you (dont worry I ll pick a good one ).

Predicted 2nd, estimated value of 211 million, and a lower average squad age (23) compared to Lima (who is predicted 2nd)'s (25)... so the future looks pretty good for the World Starz...

P.S. I might not be able to post tommorrow as it's my birthday!

Looking great so far, and some great work on getting the database done so quickly there mate Just one quick query - are you going to add the local clubs (e.g. everyone from Lima) as rivals to eachother, and if you are, will you give other clubs rivalries if they want to spice it up a bit in the database? KUTGW!

I still need to add the rivalries bit, wanted to do the test run first. In the meantime I have come up with a rivalries scheme so that we can get a bit of banter going

Will post all the rivalries when I start the game properly. I will do an introduction of the league rules, update format and more bits and bobs. Should be able to start the proper thing this evening and hopefully get one season over tonight. Lets see!!

I also have the dodgy kit factor for my second kit but i am going to keep it as it is.

Looks good so far although Cusco Athletico is predicted to come 10th and are the lowest valued club (I think) but with a "Very Determined" youngish squad I think we can exceed our expectations.

    Great stuff so far, KUTGW.

I dont think the media prediction is too relevant. I set the Last Position in the Editor in the order of sign-up entry and the media predictions are the same as the last years league positions. And the club value is determined by the value of the players you ve picked as all the rest is the same in all clubs.

CDT look fine to me! Was a bit worried about a prediction of 9th in a 12 team league, but if it's only based on last years positions then that's not so bad!

Can't wait to see how Los Osos perform!!! KUTGW

Could you please make the blue on Ciudad's Home Kit a bit lighter? Preferebly, the same shade of blue as Man City's home kit.

I was going to ask about that. Will you be posting screenies of the squads and any promising regens when the full game starts? Also, what's the relegation system? Is it just a case of bottom two go straight down or play-offs? Or is it done on 'average points'?

    Will do, no problem.

League and update formats will be explained in the introductory post, and after that I ll be taking suggestions for improvements.

Am just doing the test seasons and only one big issua came up. The qualification for South American football is not really working with non-league sides qualifying. I think I know what the problem is so hopefully it can be started soon.

Before this introductory post I would like to thank you for signing-up for this game and would also like to thank all messages of support I have become. And now lets get to it!!

And the General says "Let's go"

    The League

The general decided that he liked the format previously used in the Peruvian league as it was very straight forward. He didnt want to confuse his people any more, as they were already scratching their heads at how so many world class stadiums and players suddenly appeared in Peru (The General told everyone he became investment from abroad, the cheeky bugger!!)

The league rules are as follows:

    - Each team plays each other 4 times, totalling a number of 44 games for each side
    - The team with the most points wins the league, as simple as that!
    - The Champion and Runner-Up qualify for the Copa Libertadores proper, while the third placed team qualifies for the Preliminary Stage
    - The 4th and 5th placed sides get into the Copa Sudamericana
    - The bottom two sides are relegated
    - The squad can have a maximu of 3 foreign players (Thats why I only allowed everyone to choose two foreigners, it will be interesting to see who the third foreign player becomes)
    - The season runs from the beginning of March until Mid-December
    - There are two transfer windows: 1st January - 31st March and 1st July - 31st August
    - There is no cup competitions

    The Rivalries

Like every proper passionate Latin American country, there is a lot of rivalry in Peru, especially in the new Superliga. Here are the 4 rivalry groups:

    The Capital Rivalry

Clubs: Lima, LW FC, Westfields FC, World Starz

All 4 Lima clubs are based in different parts of the city, reaching out to different societies.

Lima (the football club) is the located in the central business district and its followers are rich and poweful businessmen.

LW FC is located in the eastern side of Lima, where it has received the following of the favela inhabitans of the area. The Nickname "The Warriors" simbolizes the fighting spirit of the working class.

Westfields FC have also got a working class supporting, but from the favelas in the western side of the city, close to Limas own Hollywood.

World Starz are followed by all famous Peruvian artists, who are only famous in Peru, but are nevertheless stars.

    The Southern Rivalry

    Clubs: Atletico Arequipa and Puno

Arequipa and Puno are both located in the south of the country, but the cities differ in many ways. Arequipa is a coastel city, considered to be the most hip and culturally modern in Peru. Puno are based in a lake in the Andes and are a veryconservative folk. The huge difference in life styles of these two cities result in a deep hate.

    The Andes Rivalry

Clubs: Cusco Athletico, Los Incas, Mayobamba C.F.

Cusco, probably the most famous city after Lima, where Machu Picchu is located and a place of great tradition. But due to the money coming in through tourism the city has been divided between the one that profited from it and the ones that have been exploited as a result of it. This divide also occurs in the footballing world. Los Incas represent the original indigenous population in the city, while Cusco Athletico represent all the people that have actually moved on and are living in the modern world.

The recent surge in the economy of Mayobamba hasnt pleased any inhabitant of Cusco. The city now represent a majour threat in tourism terms and now they want to take their share in the footballing world as well.

    The Northern Rivals

Clubs: CDT, Ciudad and Norte Chico

Trujillo and Huaraz both claim to be the richest cities after Lima, and they could argue all day about it. Both cities agree on one thing though, that Huanuco is a really good source of exploitation. Businessmen of Trujillo and Huaraz have exploited the poor living conditions of the Huanuco population and have been able to get their inhabitants to move to factories in their respective cities to work for very little money. The Huanuco mayor was getting very frustrated until he heard the plans for the new Superliga. He saw it as a great chance to improve the economy in the city and get back at the other two "snobs"

    Update Format

Hopefully the story has gotten you excited, I know I am looking forward to some banter!! Now I will explain how I want to do my updates:

The updates will be made on a quarterly basis. This means there will be a sign-up on the following in-game dates:

    1st April
    1st July
    1st October
    1st January

I will post an update as the game loads up in the first season with Club Info and Squad, but after that updates will be posted on the above order during the seasons. Every update will have the following info:

    - League Table
    - Squad (so you can see how many appearances/goals every player has made)
    - Star Players Watch: I am sure you will be wanting to know how the top South American players you chose are doing. I will give a shor update on each reporting on form, interest, injuries, general happyness etc.
    - Random Info: Anything interesting that comes up along the way

In each quarterly update there will also be different information

    April 1st

    - Transfer Window Update: Consists of a screenie of transfer history plus profile of top signing
    - Promising Regen: Will consist of a screenie of the most promising regen that has come up through the youth system that year.

    July 1st

    - Libertadores Watch: A report on the Peruvian teams in the Libertadores

    October 1st

    - Transfer Window Update: Consists of a screenie of transfer history plus profile of top signing

    January 1st

    - Sudamericana Watch: Report on Peruvian teams performances in the Copa Sudamericana
    - End of Season Review: Fans Player of the Year for each side and Season Summary

Special mention in the January 1st Update has to go to all time rankings. I will post these two ranking:

All-Time Points Ranking: A sum points achieved along all seasons

Placar Ranking: This one is based on the Ranking made by Brazilian football magazine PLacar. Points are given according to league positions and they are:

    1st: 10pts.
    2nd: 9pts.
    3rd: 8pts.
    4th: 7pts.
    5th: 6pts.
    6th: 5pts.
    7th: 4pts.
    8th: 3pts.
    9th: 2pts.
    10th: 1pt.

There will be no points for a finish below 10th.

I think that adding these two ranking will make it more fun in the long run as you can track your all-time progress and see if you were the best team in the history of the Superliga!!

Any suggestions for more information on updates or information that is a bit over the top are welcome. I will post all the screenies for the initial update as soon as I have loaded the game up.

    Let the fun commence!!

Looks very good. I don't know about the others, but I think I'd like to have some information about how the year's matches between Arequipa and Puno went - just results, nothing exceptional. Just to further rub their faces in it after we take the league title and win all four games against them in the first season.

I'll mark your words when the Puno panthers win the league by beating Arequipa. Your words aren't welcome in the Pwnage Arena, prepare to be Punoed

    Initial Club Information Screen Shots

I have decided to only post the Club Information Screens at first, as it is pretty pointless to post the squads at the moment considering they will only be consisted of the players you picked. The post-transfer window update will come up soon so you ll get the chance to see your squad then (hopefully with some signings.

    CDT

    Ciudad

    Cusco Athletico

    Lima

    Los Incas

    LW FC

    Mayobamba C.F.

    Norte Chico

    Puno

    Westfields FC

Is there any known reason why our value has dropped since the test run?

Sounds good, but what's with the "Opening Stage" then? I thought most South American countries split into Apertura and Clausura...

Another thing: I would like some updates on the Peruvian national team. As most of our players will be Peruvian, it's to hope that they'll establish themselves as a world force.
