My only question would be why the lowest leagues in England, but not in germany, France, Spain, Italy? The lower league game is a lot more entertaining and challenging over there ;)
Also funny thing with this challenge is if you make the promotion playoffs you want to lose to get another shot at the title :P

Where's MLS? You got no love for that league!

Not sure if I'm going to try this, but I am currently trying very hard to complete the China part of this challenge through another thread. ;)

With all these challenges it's hard to choose which ones I want to do! (excluding the obvious ones of course )

And to add it is officially impossible to complete this challenge. Chinese teams only play in the Asian Champions League, and Malaysian teams can play in the AFC Cup (Confederations Cup). No team playable in FM can play in the President's Cup, which is only for 'developing nations'.

Sorry if it's sounds a bit mean or anything, just saying it from my experience in Asia.

This isn't entirely true, the way it worked on FM08 is that each year two countries get 'promoted' and two countries get 'relegated' among the AFC tournaments. The team that wins the AFC Cup gets their country into the AFC Champions League for the next year, the team that wins the AFC President's Cup gets their country into the AFC Cup for the next year, and they each replaced a country whose teams did badly in the group stage in that year. This is not how it worked in real life, but it is what happened in the game. I don't know if it works in a similar way on FM09 though.

So if you were to do badly in the AFC Cup group stage as a Malaysian team, you might play in the President's Cup in the next year, not that I'm saying it should be part of this challenge though.

I know there are alot of challenges at the moment. I was unsure as to whether I should launch my challenge now or just wait until people had had a go at some of the other well-known challenges, such as dafuges and yours, rancer890. But, I decided I might as well start it now.

I was thinking about the MLS but many people dislike managing in that league, so I thought it was better not to include it.

But, if at least 5 people want it, I will add it.

Thanks for clearing that up rancer and MTC on the President's Cup. I thought that you could win it but, I will remove it from the challenge to clear it up. Plus, just incase you can't win it.

Yeah, I never thought about the playoff thing. That should be funny!
I choose the lowest leagues in England because I thought people would be more familiar with them.
I didn't choose the lower leagues in Spain and Italy etc. because I didn't want too many leagues just incase too many people could not run it if their computers were not too good.

Would really like to give this a go when I get my copy of the game next week.

But just a quick question, is there any restrictions on what team we start at?

Oh and I also think MLS would be a good addition

Good to have you having a go.
Once we get a few more people, I will make a scoresheet/board.

There are no restrictions on who you start with. If people want restrictions, please state what you want.

If you want to make it even harder, then you could start unemployed with past experience of semi-pro(get lower league and jobs in Asia) or professional(get most jobs apart from top jobs).

If one or two more want MLS, I will add it.

This is the same for lower leagues in Italy, Spain and Germany.

I would love to try this but I'm not sure my comp could handle it. The MLS is a good place to manage but can be hard if you haven't done it before. I may have a go in the future after I've had a go at Dafuges.

Yeah sure ssestig. I knew some peoples comps would not be able to handle that amount of leagues, so you can do that.

Plus, ssestig how many leagues can you run?
And, what database do you normally run?
I know there is no limit on database but I was just wondering because I can handle most of the leagues but only ever play on medium database. I never considered large because I don't see it as too much use. Although, I may be wrong.
And, lastly do you like managing in the MLS and in the lower divisions of spain, italy and germany.

Thanks for the clarification, I think what I like in the lower leagues of in particular Italy is that it is all so tight, even if you try to sign the best free's available you will still battle to get somewhere, I am tempted by a game along these lines, but it might have to come after I have a crack at JoseRR's challenge, as I said love those lower leagues, and with no one completing it in 2008 we are likely to have a good run trying this season, hopefully Rlipscombe will be joining me to get that thread pumping again

As for this one it looks like an awesome second game to have going, though I am torn between this one and the A-Z challenge, though I spose it would be possible to run them alongside each other.

I actually think I could win this. I just need a PC that can run 09 (which I will get soon).

Also, could you remove the Intertoto Cup, seeing as we only have one year to do it in and you don't "win" it exactly...

No, unless you think that it is a good idea to have them rated evenly?

Plus, do you want the MLS included? As some people have said that they think that it should be included as it is a good league to manage in.

I will have an update soon but I still havn't got 09 and don't know whether to start one of these on 08.

I hate the MLS personally, but if people want it in the challenge I'm happy to go with that.

No I think I will have certain competitions worth more than others for example the World Cup is worth more than the Setanta SHield as you have to get a decent international job to win the world cup wheras you can get any BSN/S or BSN job to win the Setanta SHield.

I am going to leave the MLS out unless a load of people come on shouting 'MLS!''MLS!''MLS!'

I'm gonna give this a little go, don't expect me to last too long though Going to start in Russia, unemployed with the highest rep so that jobs are opening up in the big leagues in Europe. I don't want to be choosing a starting point as such but rather take something that appeals to me as and when it's offered. Hope that's okay as the game is loading as I write This has a lot more leagues than I usually load so I have no idea how my computer will handle it... Update to follow sometime soon-ish(-ly)

I got the game on friday night, if anyone was wondering why I hadn't done an update for my own challenge yet.

I am going to make Scotland optional, Bubba because I don't want to add more leagues at the moment because of the need of a powerful computer.

How did you get the Iran job?

Good idea with the contract, I may do that when I get my first offer.

Did you start with International footballer as experience because surely you could have got a better hob than that if you wanted to?

I guess China is a nice interesting place to start.

Yes, started with the highest rep at the start of 2009 (chose the russian league as a start date) and just went through the available jobs it's a brilliant way to start imo

Kinda funny the thought of Iran hiring a 25 year old Icelandic guy

Just put in my real birthday. It's put me at 25 in charge of Celtic as well so it would appear the age thing has been changed this time out.

Ok will try that because I hate being called 30.

    Would much rather prefer 25

25 is the lowest you can go, I believe.

This is just great! 2 minutes into my first match of my career, which happens to be Iran vs Singapore, the ball is passed back to my keeper who promptly whacks it off the head of an attacker and into the goal.

Things better pick up from here!

    EDIT: 1-1 on 5 minutes

Well, some of the Iranian players are very, very good, so I wouldn't rule out an asian title.

Won 4-2 in the end, the 3rd goal was "dubious". I wouldn't agree with that, he was miles offside, nothing dubious about it Hashemian > *

It's easy to believe in them tbh, a better tactician than me could very concievably win the 2010 world cup in the game. I, however, will be quite happy if i even get to the finals

    Good to have you NateKAPOW.

I remember Kedah, they play in yellow don't they? They were my title contenders on the game and always after my stars. Plus, they best me in the cup final.

I have to put this on hold until a later date, the game insists on freezing a lot when I'm starting the Iran games. Had to try three times to get the first one going and it's frozen 3 times on the second. I really can't be arsed with closing it and loading again and again so I am taking a break from this one

Yeah, I have got a lot of coursework so won't get much playing time until friday.

    Anyway, good luck padmore 001!

You've made it even harder for yourself because of your automatic reputation, it will take a fair few years to build up until you get a bigger tem but I guess there are plenty of lower leagues to win.

Alright, I'm loading the database now.

I'm not including Scotland or the MLS, as that would mean it will take me longer and I am wary of these leagues.

I am going to start unemployed with the top reputation I think.

    In fact, you can decide.

Should I start with the lowest or highest rep?

Do what I intended to do highest rep and start with a Russian start (has to be 2009). Could even do that and holiday a couple of months to get more choice

Thinking about starting this one up. Is anyone still doing it?

Planning to go Downunder and start with the mighty Central Coast Mariners. Bit worried though, that the new patch won't be save-game compatible, so I might wait until it's released.

I think that the new patch will be save game compatible because otherwise you would get some angry people.

Thats a nice place to start.

I will put you on the competitiors list.
