Bad luck Ed, but i told you so unfortunately

I hope that you don't get sacked as a result, others didn't

Go back down, build up a squad and take time to rebuild the squad with EPL quality players and bide your time. Don't aim to bounce straight back up in my view as the same will happen again. Take a season to build up a team, don't worry about where you finish as long as you don't go down again, then aim for the title in the second/third season

Good luck for the future mate

I will be gutted if I get sacked, but somehow I don't think I will because by job is 'very secure' - let's hope

And yes I agree about the squad thing - I hope I get enough money to do that though

You can easily build a decent squad if you check on the Transfers History of the EPL clubs on the day that players are released. You get some quality players being released sometimes, even if they are old.

Good luck with the new season

    Boston Utd 2018/2019 Premier League

    League Summary Table | Graph

    Media Prediction – 20th
    Actual Position – 19th, Relegated

So I was right, and we did get relegated, which was on since game 3, as we never got out of the relegation zone after this. You can only do so much with £11m transfer budget, £110k per week wage budget and a squad that was hardly expected (even by my own standards) to even get promoted from the Championship. So obviously I tried to bring in some players with a bit of quality, but because of our limited relative reputation, I struggled to do this, and I had to heavily rely upon last year's squad, except for a revamping of the midfield. Diego, the striker who I bought in League 1, showed that he could just about do it at this level, with 9 goals in 32 appearances, but any chance of surviving in this league will have to come from someone else who can get some goals. The other club legend, Christian Jones, who I bought in League 2, showed that he is just about Championship quality, with 5 goals in 28. Anyhow, the 1 season appearance in the Premier League has caused a boost in the financial sense, and an expansion of the stadium + training facilities + youth setup. But the youth setup at the moment is producing 1 player per year who is of Championship standard, so I hope the improvment will cause more players of this level and more to start coming through. The main transfer through was that of Jose Prieto, in from Dinamo Kiev for £5.75m, but with a relegation clause of £7.5m, and the number and quality of suitors, I expect him to leave for this amount. I wouldn't be surprised if many other players go, but obviously I want to hold onto Jones and Diego, and for the rest I will consider offers to try to get enough money to improve the squad. I expect us to challenge next season, but to be honest, I would only want to go up if I had a squad that could stay up as I do not want to become one of those yo-yo clubs.

Just as I thought - here come the players wanting to move onto bigger clubs - a defender Andy Bowyer, worth £2.6m. A very good Championship player, but lower Premier League player. Should I tell him he can go?

EDIT: I told him that I wanted Boston Utd to advance etc. but he has asked to go on the transfer list, which reluctantly I have accepted. Price Tag £6m

You should get decent money for him that you can use to expand the squad and improve quality. Better to let these players go asap as they soon start performing to nowhere near their best

Good Luck selling him and for next season and re-building te squad

I'm having a poor run atm. 6 games without a win. I've dropped to 10th after being 9th for quite a while. My strikers just can't score. 2 of them are having 10 and 11 goalless hours

nah I will not complete it just yet. For that some of the teams are too strong especially Arsenal. But my finances are getting better and better. I could do with a better couple of strikers.

WOW!!!!! In the 11th game of the season, we went 2-0 down to Oxford at home after 65 mins. Then Michael Potts nets a hat-trick in 20 mins to give us a 3-2 win and 5 points clear at the top of the table Potts is on fire at the moment I reckon if he keeps scoring like this and doesn't get injured, we are going up

Well done Ed I got to the semis of the FA Cup last season. I reckon Arsenal will put out a weaker team as they did against me and that was in the cup that means more to them. Having said that, your team are better than mine and they could do either. Whatever happens, good luck

And we're into the final - lost 2-1 at the Emirates, then won 3-0 at York Street. The team they played had 7 first teamers (like mata and kroos) and 4 were from the reserves. So I am absolutely delighted. We play Aston Villa in the final.

I expect that I will win this league, but if not then 2nd because we are far too good for the league.

I just got £1.1m for Jose Prieto moving from Dinamo Kiev to Liverpool for 13m (I had to sell him in the summer as he wanted to go - got £6.5m + 20% profit)

Yes I should be able to because with 2 seasons of Premier League money + with only slightly editing the squad that we have at the moment, we should survive - but first we have to get there again

Currently top of League 2 by 7 points in the middle of the 13th game against Bury, whom we ground share with. We are 2-1 up as well on the day. 7 wins on the bounce in the League and 9 overall I reckon we are going up as champions this year

Unitedmadandy FC United Blue Square South 2009/10 Season

Started again as had pc problems and what a season with us winning the playoff final 3-2 against Guiesley. Yet again Super Kyle Wilson was the star scoring 39 in 43 games in the league and playoffs.

Finances are okay with only being £8,000 odd over drawn which can soon be rectify next season. Confidence at the club is good and can only get better with us gaining promotion.

squad star transfers table graph finances confidence

    Goals for next season:-
    1. Avoid relegation
    2. Improve squad
    3. Improve bank balance
    4. Have a cup run

He was brought to everyone's attention a couple of years back in a certain game where he scored bucketloads of goals. Take a look on the first 2 pages, i think there is some more info with better detail on the 1st page

    League Summary Table | Graph

    Media Prediction – 2nd
    Actual Position – 1st, Champions

So after last season's disappointment, it was vital that I used the money that I had got from last season to build a squad which could not only get me promotion from this league but also keep me in the Premier League next season. As a result, I brought in new players all round, with a new goalkeeper, McDonagh, from Falkirk, a new left-back, Santos, 22, from Atletico Mineiro (who will get even better and become Premier League quality), and a new centre-forwars, Darren Mortimer, who has got 21 goals this season. In addition, I got rid of as many of those players, who could do it at this level, but who could definitely not do it at Premier League level as possible, and will do so once again at the end of this season to raise more funds. As regards this season, though, we managed to dominate this league until around the 30 game mark, where we had 3 losses in a row which caused everybody else to get back into the race. And it was tight, until we decided to put about 8 wins together to secure the Championship with a game to go. In addition, our League Cup run was phenominal, including wins over Man Utd and Arsenal, and over other Premier League opposition, which bodes well for next season. On the financial side, we lose a little bit of money owing to relegation, but in comparison to going up the previous time, I am now £8m in the black whereas I was £7m in the red 2 seasons ago. Hopefully the club will back me by giving me £20m to stay up, because I certainly will need it to get players in in vital positions. Hopefully next season we will stay up, because we certainly have the structure to do so. In other news, I finally got onto the Favoured Personnel List, as shown by the screenshot below.

Have you ticked the box in the preferences screen to allow the ddt file to take place? You need to do this before starting a new game in order for it to take effect and you should select the 9.3.0 database at the start as well

Any more problems, please post back because i am happy to help

I was going to ask out of interest, what does it actually mean when a club announces that it has 'successfully extended the club's credit facilities which will help ensure the club's long term future' in restructuring its debt. Does that simply mean that they have taken out a loan?

It is due to programming restrictions. Your club value cannot go above a certain amount, so you get that message and the value of the club decreases for the moment and the long term future of the club is secured in case they go into administration etc.

    Still Average

    Table / Graph

    Predicted finish: 16th
    League finish: 14th

We have had yet another very average season and another mid-table finish. I am happy with the season but the squad offers so much more than it delivered. It seems that the squad are unable to come out and perform in the big matches. Relegation never really looked like a possibility but nor did the play-offs and our final position looked likely from the word go. I am very disappointed that we were unable to really push on towards the higher ends of the table but there is always next year.

    Squad

    Transfers

Another dramatic pre-season in which we let six players go and bring in five new players. The squad seemed good enough to get a better result but it wasn't to be. Liam Hubbuck struggled to score all season and the amount of goals scored was extremely poor.

    Finances

The bank balance looks very grim as we double our debt through the season. Most of the expenditure is from wages which we will look to sort out very quickly.

    Targets for the next season:

    • Improve bank balance and lower wages
    • Improve our league position
    • Get one of our strikers scoring consitantly

Yeah, it does thankfully Only 15 games in, but 11 points clear at the top of the table with a good amount of depth in the squad and the players are fighting for places, which is excelent Thankfully we have stayed injury free so far, hopefully something that will not change. The only thing that could stop us from going up is an injury crisis, but i have England Physio Gary Lewin so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I much prefer it like that. I find it more exciting when the players I am buying could have the potential to be world beaters without me knowing.

The opposite, I hate having real players in the game so I always untick the real players option...much more fun not having a clue who anyone is

I may have made one of those as well. Steve Nicholson already has an incredible 19 assists in 15 league games I reckon he is a star of the future at the tender age of 18 I bought him from Rotherham in the summer for £350k and so far he has been worth every penny. 22 assists overall and 7 goals indicate that he could be something really quite special

And if we do have a vote for best regen, could we have one for people who are in each league. i.e a regen award for EPL, Championship, League 2 etc. Good idea to keep people's intrest in the challenge Terras. There have been loads of people playing recently compared to a month or so ago, which is great

    FC United – Championship 2023/24 – Season 15

As always this season would start with the attempted culling of the many players who feel they are too good for the club.

This season saw various squad players moan about wanting a move to a bigger club (they are not good enough to force their way into my first team, but thing a bigger club will want them???) - Centre-backs Banov and Cowling left to join bottom-half Championship sides (Banov's loss wasn't a problem as when given a chance he was poor, but Cowling was a loss I was hoping to groom him to be Diego's replacement).
Ferdinand, Mintus and Friar also all finally left after spending last season out on loan, though still no one was willing to sign either Batchelor or Rankine so they both went out on loan again (I'm making a fiar bit of money from these loans - with Rankine bringing in over £1m from Loan fees), Rankine eventually went to Croatia at the end of the season.

Rebuilding my team didn't start off well, with the loss of Banov and Cowling I had no cover in defence and attempts to sign covering defenders failed badly - players were either not interested or someone else bid for them, the irony being the only player willing to sign for me was a promising young winger from Real Madrid.

During September my board upped my staff limit and let me scout the whole world (I hoped it was due to an increase in reputation, but just appears to be down to money).

With my scouts scouring the world I brought in two promising midfielders from South America, with several more arriving once they turn 18.

The expectations for the season were to consolidate, I've still no idea what that actually means I still just assume it means don't get relagated?

We were given odds of 40-1 and the loftly media prediction of 19th.

With a largely settled team we got off to a good start in the league, I still have several players wanting out but it isn't affecting their performance yet.

We were also helped this season by their being no team(s) who just walked the league, we were on the top three's coattails early season but just couldn't find that extra level, then a poor december saw us fail away from the top teams and during the second half of the season we slowly dropped away and we were left fighting for a playoff spot - I just didn't have the squad depth, so injuries or loss of form to key players hit us hard.

A home defeat to rivals Hull towards the end of Feb didn't do our chances any good, especially considering we missed two pens in the game we followed that with a defeat to lowly Sheff Utd, before getting back on tract with a 4-1 smashing of Forest.

Narrow 2-1 defeats to Millwall and Leeds, thanks to a pen and 91st minute own goal ended our automatic promotion hopes, we followed those games up with three draws (one to Burnley where we had 8 players on international duty) and a defeat to leaders Bolton, whilst we won our next two games we were two points behind Hull with two games to go, with the last playoff spot up for grabs between us and Hull.

With Hull losing 2-0 to Southampton, victory for us overing struggling Leyton Orient would see us leapfrog them, but we didn't turn up for the game and Orient won 2-1

So this left us two points behind with one game to go - we'd face Plymouth at home, who would be missing their first choice Keeper and Striker as they are both on loan from me, we easily beat them 3-1, but Hull smashed Wigan 3-0, leaving Hull to claim the last playoff spot.

Table - by far our best season, spending most of the season in and around the playoffs.

Squad - Mark Galley had another solid season in goal, with Russian Astakhov providing cover.

In defence right back Richard Allan forgot why he wanted out and signed a new contract regaining his place in the team, with Spaniard Daniel providing cover - he was also retrained to provide cover on the right wing.

Tomas Ibanez continued at left back with Grant Morgan providing cover.

In the centre of defence Diego and Thompson continued their partnership, with a lack of squad depth Spanish youngster Manrique provided cover, though with him demanding a move at the start of the season before even playing for me means he's not likely to be a longterm solution.

In midfield David Owen and Jamie Cole continued on the right, with Gonzalo Alsono and Andy Marshall on the left - with Alsono winning fans player of the year for the third year in a row and being named in the Championship Select XI for the second year in a row.

In the centre of the park youngster Ben Wharton was again in fine form, so much so that Sevilla spent £10m on him at the end of the season Providing cover was new signing Jack Cork, and hopefully young Argentine Mauricio Castro will take over next season.

The other midfield spot was taken by Harry Gudgeon, but again he failed to make it his own and will face competition from Record Buy Brazilian youngster Wallace next season.

Upfront Captain Sendoa again led the line, claiming eight league goals for the fourth season in a row, making his partner Matt Whitbread my top scorer again. Providing cover was Richard Burge, who played well when he wasn't injured, but started moaning about first team football and he'll be sold along with the even more injury prone Tim Williams.

    Best XI and Overall XI

Snapshot - the Cups were a little interesting this season - The FA Cup saw us beat Premiership Aston Villa in the Third Round, whilst we took Wolves to a replay in the fourth round thanks to them missing a 96th minute pen, before they beat us 1-0.
The League Cup saw us need pens to beat both Tranmere and Cardiff before going out to Premiership Reading.

Manager Profile - Discipline is going down, mainly due to the fact that most of my team want a move to a bigger club which then upsets everyone else.

Club Info - still only a Regional Reputation, whilst the game continues to mock me with the 'Loyal' squad.

Club Facts - finally cutting down the wage gap.

Club Stats - only 14 goals conceeded due to mistakes this season.

Club Facilities - both Training and Youth facilities are now at max. (only took 3 months to build a Youth Academy ) The next plan is to get out of Gigg Lane.

Finances are looking good, thanks to earning an extra £5m from clauses - quite a few of the players I've sold over the last few seasons have moved on.

We are now the 24th Richest Club in England, and 4th richest Championship club, though being bottom of the Sponsorship table not a great help.

I actually had a player at Euro24 this season - somehow NIreland made it and my centre back Mal Thompson came on as a sub against Portugal.

The Championship was actually won by England for the second time in a row this time beating Scotland in the final - only two real english players were left Theo Walcott and Keeper Preston Edwards (!) who starts the game at Millwall.

Rather bizarre is that England and Scotland have been drawn in the same Euro Championship group each time - 4 competitions so far. (They even met in the World Cup 2018 group).

Bah, started, and it has not gone fantastic so far. 2 draws, 1 loss. Doesn't seem too bad on the surface but it's the way it happened that's dissapointed me.

First game, went 1-0 up thanks to a great FK, and then seconds later they equalised, and I didn't have another goal threat really, despite me having a lot of possesion.

Second game we were well and truly outplayed, but I went 1-0 up, only for them to equalise straight from the kick off and then to score again straight from the kick off.

Third game, best performance so far, aided by more attacking FB instructions, went 1-0 up through a great team move, they went 4-2-4, I responeded accordingly, only for them to get their one and only chance to fall to a regen with 1 finishing, and he smashes it into the top corner, and this chance came from a long ball from them, my LB touches it, and then proceeds to walk away from the ball.

I know it the game isn't actually fixed, but sometimes I can see why people think it is.

has anyone (well those in PL) noticed that your tactic suddenly stops working? I was playing well in my first season in the PL but halfway through the season, my tactic suddenly stopped working. I couldn't score and I am on the second 5-6 match loosing streak.

    Really weird

Right, after another 1-1 draw, I've changed systems to a 4-1-4-1. Lets hope gets a bit more penetratoin in the opponents thirds.

Should have a full season update later tonight.

Looks good but what the hell are your coaches doing to him in training to see his attributes drop in so many areas

He has been injured for a week or two so when he regains full fitness, he will be fine. But look at the 2/3 arrows pointing straight upwards Never had one like that before, i reckon he will be Prem standard when he is older

My coaches are brilliant for League 2 as well, that's half of the reason why i am doing so well because i do individual training schedules/coach schedules etc

I've got a few things going on but I want to have a try at this.

It'll probably be slow progress but I should get going soon.

    Here is my manager profile:

    Andrew Morton - Boston United

I'll probably lose a lot initially. Should be fun!

A win \o/. In the cup, extra time against FC United, but a win never the less.

I'm going to have a go at building a completely new tactic in a minute. Not happy with the way this one is panning out.

Any tips for what works well in the LL's?

We are out of the JPT on pens 5-4 to York, but we are through to the FA Cup 2nd Round after a 2-1 win away against struggling Chester City. Can we repeat our FA Cup heroics of last year and reach the Semis's again?

No offers for him and supprisingly no-one is interested Great news for FCUM and he has signed a new contract for 5 years and he is listed as "Loyal" so i reckon he will stay with us for some time yet. I beat some EPL clubs to his signature back in August, so that tells me that he has got massive potential ability. Liverpool, Villa, Everton and Fulham all wanted him

I have not been able to play this since Thursday. I only just got back from the Newcastle-Chelsea game.

I will get a bit of FC United in tonight. I think we are 3rd in League 2 after 8 games.

Well looks like Castro isn't going to be a part of my plans after just 263 days at the club he has demanded a transfer - due to our poor start, a dislike of my Keeper, and complaining about too many players who don't play in his position

After trying this a couple of FM's ago, I thought I'd try it again. Holidayed and decided on FC United of Manchester, not the most difficult of tasks but I'm not the best of managers! In my excitement I didn't take a screenshot on the first day like requested, but here is one anyways:

Just in case you think I didn't join on the 25th:

Well back to back promotions have seen my mighty Bedford team arrive in the Coca Cola League One!
My squad is a bit threadbare if i'm honest and need some decent recruits if i'm going to stay up, let alone challenge.

I've been really busy of late and as a result my updates have been non-existent. Apologies dafuge!
They will be better from now on.

    Talking Re: dafuge's FM09 challenge

Here's my results from November with FC United in League 2, the JPT and FA Cup

    Code:

Date Match Competition Score League Position
    03/10 Chester League 2 2-0 Away Win 1st
07/10 York JPT 5-4 Home Loss on Pens N/A
10/10 Chester FA Cup 1st Round 2-1 Away Win N/A
    17/10 Accrington League 2 2-1 Home Win 1st
    24/10 York League 2 2-1 Home Win 1st
    27/10 Yeovil League 2 0-0 Away Draw 1st
A great month, spoilt only by the JPT game against York. Still, better to lose in the least important competition of the year than the league. Keep it up FC United

I still can't get us out of midtable in the Premier League, despite spending decent money each year. A lot of my players have now aged, although still doing the business. Jonathan Fletcher is now 33, with nearly 500 career league appearances. I'll probably do a nice squad summary if I get time (or remember) later...
