Can i play Fm09 if I remove Steam?

I havent managed to get it fully installed yet (been waiting since 6pm) But after its complete i want to remove that hump of dump steam, i dont want it on my computer at all. Will Fm still work? I Hope someone works some DRm magic shizzle on Si/Sega/Steam and sees what their performance levels were like today. Unreal.

Yes find the file its in.
Which should be in the staem folder in your c/drive
Once in there go to steamapps/common/football manager 2009/
Find the fm09 app and creat a shortcut.
Drag that to your desktop no need to run steam again then it runs without it.
