greyed out players

Has anyone ever signed a greyed player and that player go on to be a first team player or sold on for money? Thanks.

Thanks. I can see it being useful I you download an expansion pack and start at level 9 or lower. Has anyone had a prem stndard player I wonder?

I've only used them to plug immediate holes in lower-level saves. They all seem to have "average" stats for that level, and I've had reserve teams that are nothing but grays win more than expected number of games, but I've never given one a long-term contract with the hopes of taking them up the leagues.

Yeah, I find that if you're in the Conference or below, signing a few grey players can be a good way of covering for injuries and suspensions, but anything above that and they're completely pointless.

You'll never make any money off them, though.

During a career save in Italy back in, I dunno, FM05 or something, a Grey player from my Reserves went on to have a pretty good Serie B career once I signed him.

He was an MR with low-double-digit scores for Dribbling, Crossing, Pace, Acceleration and Passing which is why I signed him. Those attributes all got to around 15 after ten years, while a few others edged above 10.

I've never seen anyone else even remotely worth signing.

I was playing against Barca back in FM 14, and for some reason they lined up with a Grey player, a right back that was the best full back I'd even seen. Have no idea what glitch in the matrix was causing Barca to need a RB, but I would have killed to sign him.
