What is one to do?

Assuming that you were Roma:

Try to keep 11 men on the field

Unless you are a superior team, be wary of using Control away from home.

Use a tactic that utilises a more defensive formation when away from home- 4-3-3 will be susceptible to getting caught on the break.

Dont continue on Control if you have a man sent off and tighten up the freedom setting

Cut down on the long shots

Think about getting better strikers or try specialist attribute training for them, depending on what kind of chances they are missing

Your comments seem good to me, except the ones about having a man sent off are irrelevant in this case. All three goals were scored early in the match and long before the red card was given. It would be interesting to know what dSquib's tactics looked like at the beginning of the match rather than at the end of the match... assuming he adjusted them sometime during the match.

I began on standard I think. Yep the red card came much later, born of frustration. Wish I got a screencap from the first half. My possession dominance was even higher and the shooting more accurate, on average. In any case, clear cut and half chances, however limited the definition may be, have to mean something. It's true Udinese have better finishers up front, but Totti and Florenzi (both fine finishers) had most of the chances, and their third goal was an absolute screamer from nothing from... Giovanni Pasquale. Udinese's "clear cut" chance they put away, a looping header from the edge of the box from Thomas Heurtaux. Thereau was the only striker who scored, a beautiful spin and volley. Di Natale didn't score, or really get a chance.

9 long shots from 27 isn't very many at all. I did instruct working the ball into the box.
