Introduction

First things first, please subscribe to my youtube at https://www.youtube.com/user/TheGCgamer2014 as I'll be posting updates and videos with a bit more depth than the text here. Be warned though, it will also have other games on there so it won't just be FM stuff being posted up on there!

------------------------------------------------

Well this will be my first team in the FM career forums, as usually I stick to GD and Challenges section. Having hosted some challenges, played FM since the days of CM 95, and even attempted the odd story, I have finally come to the career forum.

Recently I have been favouring career games, starting unemployed and going as far as I can.

So during this thread I will be trying to act as if I was a manager in the real world. Thinking of the wages I am given, the opportunity that is presented to me and the relationship I have with the fans and board.

Anyway after that background here are the leagues I loaded up.

Countries/Leagues

(The lowest league available is listed next to the country)

Brazil - Second Division

England - Vanarama north/south

Argentina - Second division

Germany -Third Division

France - National Division

Italy - Serie B

Portugal - Second Division

Spain - Liga Adelante

USA - MLS

Russia - As view only

For my save I have used a Large Database, and around about 62,000 players have been loaded.

So Gee Cee steps into the managerial world with a few options around.

Which direction should he take?

After a few offers of interview came and went some tough decisions were taken, US Colomiers offered an interview but in response to the interview I had with Tondela in the Portugese Second Division, I decided to decline the interview and put all of my eggs in one basket.

That plan quickly failed, and I was left with an Interview with Hyde.

After a good interview I get offered the job, but have reservations about whether to take the job or to search for a more compelling adventure.

What do you guys think? Here is where i need your help. So please give advice on whether to;

a) Take the Hyde job

b) Reject it

c) Delay it for a week and see if you can get anything else sorted by then

Well definitely be following, especially as a fellow Ipswich fan

I'd probably go to Hyde. It may not be where you want to start but as a 'bottom rung' job it looks pretty good and is probably better than most other clubs you're likely to get, which would usually be 'newly promoted into playable league' sides that would just be strugglers.

Thanks for your response Delta. I am thinking the same as you. It is probably one of the better offers I will get. Plus its all about getting my reputation built now.

As for ITFC, not a bad start to the season for us huh? Could be the best year we have had in a while.

A Manager is born

Hyde_zpsea62616d.jpg

After some brief doubts Gee Cee gladly accepted the contract offer handed to him by Hyde FC.

His duties will commence with a friendly against the U21 team, 2 more pre season friendlies, and then straight into the Vanarama Conference North.

I hoped you'd go for it.

As for Ipswich, given the past few matches it's looking like it was a bit of a false dawn unfortunately, though there was something rather FM-like about the recent conceded stoppage time equalizers.

Thanks for the Support. Good luck with your career too :)

Indeed, but at the same time, if we keep our loanees and get a few more players in Jan we could go on another run.

Gee Cee - Down the pre-season road - 2014/2015 -

Home_MyProfileProfile_zps0bd38497.png

Ewan Fields Stadium has been busy over the last few weeks. The appointment of Gee Cee, has caused optimism and concern in equal measures. Some fans can't believe that such an inexperienced manager has been tasked with getting their beloved Hyde into the Vanarama conference once more, whilst others hope that a young, fresh and excited manager will do wonders for the team.

What is for sure is that he has started to reshape the squad and has been scouting England for the finest young players to join the Hyde revolution.

*Those marked with a yellow spot were bought/sold before my tenure as manager of Hyde FC

Adrian Edo

Signed on loan from Blackburn as the shortage of midfield players at Hyde made Gee Cee cringe. Decent player for one so young and has the ability to get better with experience. Will be rotated with Oliver Roberts, as the partner for Phelan.

Jeff Whitley

The old man of the signings. Whitley comes in with experience and, although his physical skills are waning, his technical attributes make up for it. Will be a short term solution to the DM problem we are having.

Jordan Thorniley

Comes in with a decent pedigree, after being brought through the ranks at Evertons Finch Farm Academy. Will be similar to Edo in the fact that he will rotate with another signing for the first team berth.

Oliver Roberts

Roberts was another player who was quickly identified as a youngster with talent and the passion to come in at Hyde and be a big part of our promotion push. A fit young player who has a range of passing that surpasses most at this level.

Ben Askins

Came in with an injury which has hampered his pre-season, however he is another who has come in as cover for the CB spot. Will be rotated into the first team, and is just slightly behind Thorniley in the pecking order.

Alex Peterson

Gee Cee does not always have faith in young strikers, so it was a risk to bring in Peterson as another loanee. Luckily a risk that won't cost the club a penny. Will largely be on the periphery of the first team.

Pre-Season Friendlies

fixtures_zpsad761267.jpg

The only friendlies played under Gee Cees reign have been the 2-2 dissapointing draw with the Hyde Under 21 team, which saw Almond score then get injured, and Regan Walker take the game seemingly out of contention in the first half. With a raft of changes and some tired legs, Gee Cee saw his team lose their way in the second half, and two late goals left a sour taste in the new managers mouth.

The second friendly was a much better affair with David McNiven, Hydes Journeyman striker come in for a start and nabbed a goal just before half time. Jordan Thorniley then staked his claim for a first team spot with a fantastic header to make it 2-0. Ashton scored late which is a concerning trend, but the results pleased the new manager, and ended a rather productive pre-season.

Ewan Fields awaits the first league game of the season and Gee Cee is confident of getting a result against Oxford City.

So here is our squad for the first game of the season

Gee Cee - And So it starts... (August 2014) - 2014/2015 -

And so it starts...

After the hectic pre-season at Hyde FC, August has followed the trend. New Manager Mr. Gee Cee has been making more changes at the club and been firmly stamping his style at the club.

Josh Brizell was not happy when Gee Cee stripped him of the captaincy and handed it over to Luke Chilvers, it caused some dissent in the ranks, but was quickly crushed by the Iron Fist that Gee Cee has been reigning with at the start of his tenure at the club.

The performances on the pitch have been varied and have possibly been the biggest cause for concern in the young managers start to life at Hyde Fc

Fixtures

fixtures_zpsccdb64fa.jpg

A bit of a mixed bag here, started the season with a good win, but have been mixed throughout. 4th choice Striker Steven Tames saved his contract by scoring two late goals to earn Hyde a draw, just before Mr. Gee Cee was debating about letting him go. For now he stays.

League Table

Leaguetableaugust_zps896f9ed0.jpg

15th in the league is not terrible, but is certainly not the start that Gee Cee had in mind. Performances will have to improve or heads will roll.

Transfers

It was clear even in the early stages of the season that new faces were needed in the club. With a few longer term injuries and a desire for instant success, three new players were bought in.

Mansour Assoumani

An experienced Centre back who can provide some much needed experience, with 3 of the 4 first choice centre backs all being under 20. Comes in with alot of experience and is being paid well for this level, he will be expected to step up his game from his debut and become the rock we need at the heart of defence.

Rico Gomes

Our second permanent signing of August. A youngster with potential to be a leading League 2 player, Rico Gomes brings some much need speed to the wing, and is one who Mr. Gee Cee has high hopes for. Will jump straight into the first team with some rotation to not burn out the youngsters potential.

Anthony Dudley

Another young loanee to fill out the squad a bit more. Dudley has pace as well as an eye for goal, and has started his time at Hyde well with a Debut goal and a good follow up performance. Could well be fighting for that lone striker spot this season.

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

Fans, thank you for your ongoing support, this club is nothing without your dedication passion and commitment.

I know some of you were concerned when I took the reigns at the club, but we are starting something here that will push this club forward. The short term results will not be perfect that I can gurantee, but I also promise that myself, the staff at Hyde FC and the players are working towards something bigger, the long term future of the club, and a rise back up the leagues.

Each month I will be write in the Ewen Echo Fanzine to address the best fans in the world.

Thank you again for your support, it does not go unnoticed.

Assoumani looks class for this level.

Thanks for the support.

Agreed he does look good, had to pay a pretty decent wage for him, but looks like he could become a rock for the next year or so.

Just FYI - Youtube video now up, has the Match of the Month highlights on the video :)

I'm finding your accent very interesting, especially as there seems to be a touch of Sean Connery about it :D

Haha, thanks for the support.

My Accent has always been random, grew up on 2 different continents, lived in 4 different continents and traveled to 6. So have picked up a bit of everything.

Also lived in both England, and Scotland when I was young, so my formative years may have had some Sean Connery in.

Gee Cee - And So it starts... (September & October 2014) - 2014/2015 -

The journey continues...

A mixed but not wholly unexpected few months has not been a cause of much joy, or a cause of much concern.

The performances on the pitch have still been on and off, one week looking like genuine title contenders and the next week looking like we could be in serious trouble of relegation. Thankfully for Gee Cee there has been more good or let's say average days than bad ones, and the team is still looking to meet their expected mid table finish.

Fixtures

fixtures_zpsfd2de061.jpg

As you can see - some great matches followed by some absolute dire performances, did have a great start to October, but the two losses with no goals scored is worrying as it is the only time in Gee Cees tenure that no goals have been scored in back to back games.

League Table

table_zpse934e21c.jpg

The league table is still looking good to the board of Hyde FC, but Gee Cee has been hoping for more. Playoffs are in the managers heart, but whether he achieves this dream, or it is a step too far is yet to be seen. Only time will tell.

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

What can I say, except for what a rollacoaster ride we have had so far.

Over the last two months we have been striving to push for consistency in performances, and although some of you may be concerned with the lack of goal over the last two games, I feel that we have been unlucky in front of goal, and I have a plan to bring some clinical finishing to Ewen Fields.

We have been searching for some players to bolster our current option and I think with letting go some of our fringe players at the squad we will be able to bring in a couple of players with experience and real attacking talent.

Some say we are destined for mid-table this season, but I say with your support and 100% commitment from everyone involved in the club, that we can be involved in the playoff hunt.

Thank you again for your loyal support, it is never unnoticed.

I was wondering if you could show me a specific player. A Colchester-supporting friend asked me recently about a young player they've got on loan from us and if I knew of him which I didn't so I'd be interested to see, not that I could necessarily form a proper opinion from that alone. I stopped playing 'up to date' FM at the end of last year so I'll be a bit in the dark now.

Oh I do know of him IRL and in game (Fm14) decent enough player, but probably never going to be Premier League quality. Decent defending and turn of pace, but never thought much of him going forward.

But yeh will look at him in game tomorrow and post a screenie or two.

Gee Cee - International Fever.... (November & December 2014) - 2014/2015 -

An England International...

The meeting took place over a brewed coffee and dry pastry, probably not what he had become accustomed to in his time at the top. I insisted in being in on this deal. Franny was a pleasant enough lad, seemed to just want to play. No questions were even asked about the league we were in, he just wanted to know if he could still play the game he loved and get paid for it.

We couldn't offer him much, but I stretched the budget before the meeting to find the last notes that we could offer. A relatively high wage was offered, and then an England International signed on the dotted line. Francis Jeffers was the first England International to play for Hyde FC.

I knew the fans would be buzzing.

Fixtures

Fixtures_zps342b125d.jpg

It was a winter of discontent. The performances are still not consistent enough, the team are yet to show a true fighting spirit, and even though expectations are still being met, it is not good enough for this young English manager.

League Table

LeagueTable_zpsbbb1a83a.jpg

The league table is, once again, looking good to the board of Hyde FC, but Gee Cee is still hoping for more. With the additional players and a good feeling in the ground it is time to make a real push, and get a run of results going.

Transfers

It was once again clear that a few new faces may liven things up at Ewen Fields. A bit of cover and an emergency signing came into the club as well as the much Publicized international Duo.

Danny Harrison

An loanee that we knew we needed to give Jeff Whitley some much needed rest. He has slotted into the squad well and is pushing for a regular first team place, with some calm performances and energetic displays. Danny has already racked up 5 solid performances and has become a a staple of the first team line-up.

Callum Williams

An emergency one month loanee after a small injury kept first choice (and only choice) goalkeeper Billy O'Brien out of action for a week. Rather than test out the youth players Gee Cee decided to bring in a young keeper with some potential. The loan deal saw Williams play once, concede 3 goals and he was not asked to extend his stay at Ewen Fields.

Francis Jeffers

The England International that has captured all of the headlines in Greater Manchester. Jeffers comes in with a reputation that has been waning in recent years, he has to prove he can still do it at this level, and his first three games have shown a man who is not yet ready for the rigours of first team football.

Jean-Michel Fontaine

The International making less waves in the papers, but could be the Jewell in Gee Cees managerial crown. The Reunion International has come into the club, and started well. A goal in his two games and some impressive performances have started the Fontaine chants at Ewen Fields. He is a big man, and perhaps the type of player that can change the fortunes of Hyde FC.

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

An England International at Hyde. That is all I have been hearing lately. It is great news that we have got a few new players, Francis (Jeffers) will be a boost to everyone at the club, however he is one cog in a team that is yet to fully work together to make the wheels of Hyde FC turn. We are still growing, still gelling and I promise the fans that results will get better. We have the ability and the belief in this squad to make a push for the playoffs, and I will not rest until I see that dream reached.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. 2015 will be a year to remember, mark my words.

Thank you again for your loyal support, it is never unnoticed.

In FM 14 Fountaine was my best player also in Division 2 when i coached AFC Telford..tall,fast and consistent but i don't recommend to use it as target man. Very good choice ;)

Thanks for the comment Dimitri. As for Fontaine, I have never come across him in previous FMs, but if you look at 9:18 in the youtube video, you will see his second favourite/skilled role is Target Man.

Also in the next update you will see he has done alright so far :)

Gee Cee - A winter of discontent?...or content? (January 2015) - 2014/2015 -

Winter is coming...

Winter sneaks up like the night. Dark days and cold nights. For Hyde FC the start of winter did not go to plan, but into a new year there is still hope that this young manager and a fresh team will be able to push on, and turn their winter of discontent into a winter to remember.

Fixtures

Schedule_SeniorFixtures_zps15f052fc.png

An unbeaten January has changed the mood at Ewen Fields. Fans are happy, the board are happy, and long may the unbeaten streak continue. Jean-Michel Fontaine announced his presence with the first hat trick of the season for Hyde FC, it is just a pity it was away from home where less fans would see that glorious moment.

League Table

VanaramaConferenceNorth_OverviewStages_zpsdc991716.png

The unbeaten run has helped push Hyde back up the table, in 9th place there is a real chance of the playoffs. If the form continues then the fans and managers hopes may be realised.

Squad

Squad_PlayersPlayers-2_zpse2cca6e5.png

The squad is looking strong, and even with an injury in a few positions the backup players are performing when required. A tough decision to let Reece Gray go has been made, but it is one that is probably best for the future of the club.

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

An Unbeaten month and a great start to the new year has been largely down to your support.

Everywhere I go I see the passion from the supporters of this club. Jean-Michel has been welcomed to the club like a hero, and he has started to repay your chants, and your fighting spirit.

You have never once faltered in your support, and we as a club will do our best to show the same determination and grit that you the fans show each and every week.

We still have work to do, it is a long season, but I believe!

Thank you as ever for your support, it will never go unnoticed.

Just catching up on a few videos (especially as I follow a few full-time Paradox/Civ LPers so it's not easy keeping up do date with various series). Thanks for showing me Hewitt. It's not easy to make a judgement with such a wide attribute ranger but unless he's at the lower end for a lot of them he does look good, and maybe that's why he was recalled. Looking good to pounce on the playoffs.

Mate I am fully on the ITFC hype train right now. Could be a season to remember.

On the catching up...no worries mate. I really enjoy doing this, and if others even remotely enjoy it then that's a bonus for me. Loving playing with Hyde right now.

Bit disappointed with Jeffers so far though. Not really making the impact I had hoped for.

Gee Cee - On the road to the playoffs?? (Feb/March 2015) - 2014/2015 -

The playoff hunt...

The hunt for the playoffs has started, February and March are key months in the Vanarama Conference North with games coming thick and fast. New players are settling in and by the end of March you have four games left to determine your fate, a playoff push, or mid table mediocrity, it is all down to Hyde FC and Gee Cee.

Fixtures

Fixtures7_zps9858274b.jpg

Some more mixed results show the inconsistence that has been rife within the squad since the start of the season. Jean-Michel Fontaine has continued to be a force as the man at the top and has kicked Jeffers out of the squad, literally.

League Table

table7_zps6f122f46.jpg

The mixed results have still been good enough to keep us in contention for the playoff places, but we could so easily slip down the table with our last four games of the season. We are going to need big performances and we will need to pick up the maximum available points to be sure of the playoff place that Hyde FC and the fans so desperately crave.

Squad

squad7_zps97c160f5.jpg

The squad is still looking strong and with O'Neil a new face in midfield and some U21 non contract players having signed we look set for the future whether that is in the Conference Premier or the North. Fontaine is still the star of the squad, 9 goals in 14 starts is a great start to his Hyde FC Career.

**To see details of the THREE new signings check out the

video**

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

The last two months have been mixed, and I know that we have been too inconsistent.

We are however delighted with Jean-Michel Fontaines continued excellence in the lone role up top, and we hope you understand the decision to let Jeffers go was best for the club and for Francis himself.

We will push for that playoff place that we all crave so much, and we will keep on fighting until the final whistle on the final day of the season.

Rest assured these last four games will be tough, but they will be games where we put in our all, get behind the lads and show them that we belong!

Thank you as ever for your support, it will never go unnoticed.

Gee Cee - All or nothing (April 2015) - 2014/2015 -

It's all or nothing now boys...

With the end of the season looming and just a few games remaining, Gee Cee and Hyde FC look to make a run for the playoffs, will their form be good enough? Will talismanic striker Jean-Michel Fontaine continue to bang in the goals when it matters? or will it be a bridge too far?

Fixtures

Schedule_SeniorFixtures-2_zpsaad7fb5c.png

The final games of the season really showed the story of the season, inconsistency and although some great work from Fontaine, it just wasn't happening for Hyde FC.

League Table

VanaramaConferenceNorth_OverviewStages-2_zps0f2624fc.png

The 2 wins and 2 losses just weren't good enough. We could have got to the playoffs on the final game of the season if results had gone our way, but they clearly didn't. It is disappointing to come so close, but yet not quite make the cut, although at the start of the season we were predicted mid table mediocrity.

Squad

Squad_PlayersPlayers-3_zps681b997e.png

Fontaine finished the season as the best player by far, Rico Gomes also proved to be an astute signing, but as a squad we were just not consistent enough to get that all important promotion. Adrian Edo will certainly be a player to watch in the future.

Words from the Manager

*extract from the Ewen Fields Monthly Fanzine

I know some of you are concerned with the rumours floating around that I have fallen out with the board.

While it is true that I have not yet renewd my contract, I hope that the board and I can come to some kind of agreement soon.**

This season has been long and fruitful, we have made great strides, and I firmly believe Hyde FC will be back in the Vanarama Conference in the next year or two.

I want to thank you for your support, not just to the club but to me personally, you are great fans, and I will always appreciate you.

Yeh Hyde were a good club for me to start, but I really didn't mind testing my luck as I was confident I could get a slightly bigger club with a years experience under my hat, and the fact that there were quite a few vacancies knocking around.

Sad to leave Fontaine though. :(

Gee Cee - A New Start - Down the pre-season road once more - 2015/2016 -

profilefar_zps0624384f.jpg

Gee Cee has happily accepted the offer to become the new S C Farense manager. After a productive season at Hyde F. C a new challenge was needed, and this was the ideal club to get Gee Cee back into management. There is a long way to go and pre season has been fruitful enough so far.

Transfers

transfersfar_zpse00f5bf8.jpg

Kristian Kostrna

A young player with a ton of potential Kostrna joins the club with a battle on his hand to depose current right back Hugo Ventosa. Kostrna has alot of potential and is sure to get his fair share of game time if he works hard in training.

Eduardo Ferreira

Has the ability to be a rock in the heart of defence, and has come in with a good couple of seasons behind him. Hoping he is not another Assoumani.

Capela

The biggest signing not just of the season but in Gee Cees young managerial career. Comes in with the promise of becoming the new captain of the Lions, and should be a star of the season.

Michael

Michael was another youngster who was found by our new scouts, and qas quickly identified as a key target. Comes in as a first team player who will battle for the lone spot up top. Some good pace and finishing for this level and could be a huge player for the team this seaso

Fabio Cardoso

Another who has come in as cover for the CB spot and could also be in the starting line up. Will be rotated into the first team, and is just slightly behind Ferreira in the pecking order.

Tomas Podstawski

Gee Cee made a late signing for the DM position, and Tomas will be a player who battles both Iris and Gerethes for a first team spot. It will be a much contested spot in the team and one which will be interesting to follow. A few good performances could cement the spot for the rest of the season.

Pre-Season Friendlies & Future fixtures

schedfar_zps40af58c6.jpg

There were only a few friendlies arranged before the season but they were a productive time for the new manager of the Lions of Faro. Two games with 6 goals a piece for the side from Faro, and a narrow loss to Braga who must have been shocked by how well the Farense players battled.

The campaign starts with some league cup action and then straight into the league with a few tough games.

So here is our squad for the first game of the season

Gee Cee- Farense - Testing Times - Aug/Sep - 2015/2016 -

Gee Cee boldy stepped forward into the Portugese Second League with hope and anticipation. However hope and anticipation do not win games, goals, clean sheets and tactically nous do. This is the story of August and September 2015.

Fixtures & Results

Schedule_SeniorFixtures-3_zpseb30d46f.png

The league cup was a time to experiment, and really was nothing something Farense were going to go all out for. We then started the league brightly with a win for Gee Cee. The next 6 games were undoubtedly the worst run of results I have ever experienced. We just couldn't put things together. The board called Gee Cee in after the 2-2 draw with U. Santarem and wanted to know why things were going wrong.....the next game was VITAL!

Luckily the squad pulled together, a great 4-2 league win and then another 2 wins on the trot. This got the board of Gee Cees back and gave the players some much needed confidence.

League Table

15th in the league really does flatter us. The first two months of the season we have been in the relegation zone, however hopefully that corner has been turned and the only way is up for Farense.

Squad

Our squad has seen a number of changes in the last two months, but more about that in the Transfer section. As you can see it is the story of two areas of the team. Attacking players seem to be playing well, getting goals and good ratings, were as most of the defensive players are underachieving. Kito has been a key player, but wants to move back to Brazil. Iris another Brazilian wants first team football, so may be out of the door soon too. The signing of the season so far is Capela. Came in with high expectations and has really been out most consistent performer, leading the team brilliantly throughout the season and of course in that 4-2 victory who got the first goal and MOM, Capela!

Transfers

Two in and two out. Thiago and Kostrna were going to be squad rotation players, and we let them go to free up some wage budget.

However we replaced Thiago with a loanee Diego Coelho, who came in for the season with no wage. We also got cover in the winger positions with Balde, again a loan where we pay no wages.

Tidjane Balde

An loanee who will provide cover for the first team. Hasn't featured much yet, but has good ability and amazing potential, could be someone who changes games late on.

Diego Coelho

A good left back who will challenge Samsom for a first team position, also if needs be he can play on the left wing, which makes him a very good addition to the squad, and someone we will need during various points of the season.
