Playing home games elsewhere

In my current game my stadium is being upgraded so my home games are being played in a different city (Sheffield instead of Lincoln). I'm curious what effect this actually has and does any effect increase depending on the distance between the two grounds?

I've had my worst start to a season so I'm wondering if its related to the stadium move or if its really just down to bad luck / tactics / fixture list. Also is there any effect on the clubs finances from having to rent the ground? So far the crowds at matches are actually higher than I was getting last season although I am playing at a bigger stadium.
