After retiring from FM11 with Newcastle Town, it's time I got with the new version of the game.

I load up all of Europe, mostly on view only but with all of UK & Ireland active, including the EEE update.

I let the in game random club picker choose me somebody from the bottom two divisions from England or the bottom division from one of the other British nations. The very first club picked is...

Hythe is on the South coast, a little West of Folkestone. Here is their ground...

Updates will follow a similar format to my FM11 thread. I move house tomorrow though so it will be a little while...

I saw Hythe and wondered if you meant the little town just outside of Southampton, but clearly not as it's in Kent.

Good luck with the save Nobby (and the house move, as well). I shall look forward to the updates.

FA Cup

We matched expectation though given we had drawn Diss I had hoped to progress at least one round further.

FA Trophy

Not an easy game in the first round of qualifying, and the result reflected it.

We start well and push on so we are challenging at halfway.

We maintain our strong performance throughout the season and are playoff challengers as we hit the run in.

We need a win in our final match and hope one of two other results go our way to make the playoffs. We draw 2-2 at home to Walton Casuals.

My Assistant Manager leaves for Whyteleafe just as the season starts and we win our first three and undefeated in five before a new one is appointed. We then get worse.

Things pick up and at Christmas we are 9 points behind leaders Horsham YMCA.

With ten to play we have slipped a bit, a few points behind the playoffs.

Like last season we need to win our last game and hope others go our way to make the playoffs. This time we do win but the other results are not kind.

With the various comings and goings associated with semi professional contracts, we make a reasonable start, winning three, drawing one and losing three in the first seven league games. The last of those league games was a draw at league leaders, newly promoted Crawley Down Village. The board then demanded we win our next match, a home FA Cup match against Folkestone. We drew, and they sacked me despite being unbeaten in the last five games and having games in hand in the league.

What? Sacked after 7 games, when there are still 39 to go? OK they wanted promotion, but many a side has got off to a slow start and gone on to easily win the league!

2016/7 - Cups

FA Cup

After a decent win on the synthetic pitch at Romulus (3-4), we were hugely disappointing in going out at the wonderfully named tier 9 club Thurnby Nirvana (1-2).

FA Trophy

Stourport Swifts haven't entered since 2011/2 when they were last at tier 8 and for some reason we aren't in it this season.

Other cups

SOUTHERN LEAGUE CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND: Stourport Swifts 0 Long Buckby 1
