[FM13] Have you won the Premiership in the first year with Liverpool?

I just started a new save with Liverpool in FM13, I had zero budget for transfers, and with the existing squad and tons of injuries I am struggling at fourth position after about 22 matches played. City is comfortable at first place.

My questions are:

1) Can you sell anyone in the first season and who did you sell?

2) Can/Should you drop lesser competitions like Europa league or League Cup, in order to focus on Premiership?
