Hi all,

The new patch had just tempted me to start a new save and this time round, having been inspired by the legend, tomtuck01's thread, I have decided to start unemployed and see where the game takes me. I have taken a break from my last Man United save, do check it out if you are interested :) You can also follow me on twitter @DBecks07 for mini updates and some football banter ;)

I have chosen the major European Leagues purely down to my personal preferences and level of familiarity with them. Similar to my Man United save, I have decided to start as my favourite retired footballer...

Introduction & Season Preview 2013/2014

Name: Blackpool Football Club

Stadium: Bloomfield Road

Capacity: 16371 all-seater

a166f480-6c6b-4d6c-8662-5ff2474697a7_zps011051e8.jpg

A financially stable club expected to finish mid-table (13th) in England's second tier competition. Such a pity that Tom Ince is leaving the club, he was immense for me in my United save :(

Board Expectations

Sky Bet Championship: Respectable league position

FA Cup: Fourth Round

Capital One Cup: Third Round

My personal expectations aren't far off from the board's but having taken a look at the squad, there are lots of work to be done.

Budgets

Transfers: £500,000

% of transfer revenue made available: 70%

Wages: £165,000

There is enough room to play around with but as mentioned, the squad is not too well-balanced and I would need quite a number of players. Time for the struggle to bring in players!

Good luck at Blackpool, Becks :)

Thanks kontermann, appreciate it :)

Everyone loves a bit of Becks, do you have any specific goals you would like to achieve?

Just take the club as far as I can really, hopefully promotion as soon as possible. However the squad is quite far from promotion quality from what I see :(

Preseason 2013/2014 - Blackpool

Transfers

It was so tough attempting to attract players of the right quality to the club and I was glad to be able to bring in 8 players eventually.

Quini

23 year old signed on loan from Real Madrid. A versatile wide player who can play anywhere down the right but I will be retraining him to play down my left wing.

Yeste

Was the next big thing coming through Athletic Bilbao if you look back far enough. Will offer some flair and technical brilliance in the attacking central midfield role.

Ibertsberger

Experienced and defensively sound full-back who can play down both sides.

Kyrgiakos

I remember him from his short time at Liverpool and although he's on the wrong side of his thirties, he will offer great quality cover at central defense.

Gabilondo

Another Spanish who will improve the team's quality on the ball from left midfield.

Fulop

A bit of confusion here. I read that he is recovering from cancer, didn't know he was unavailable until I signed him. Anyone knows when will he be available on the game again?

f9672627-9160-4023-b02d-69ea20b29528_zpsbb603cea.jpg

Brilliant work by the board to secure a parent club and this helped me to two solid loan signings with no cost \o/

Amos

Solid goalkeeping backup and he's English :)

Lingard

Another great versatile English player who can play anywhere in the attacking positions. He's gonna have a vital role to play this season.

Preseason Friendlies

Friendlies were organized against easy oppositions to boost the team's morale. And now, we travel to Doncaster to start the season!

It was a satisfying month in the league. We opened the campaign with two hard fought victories against Doncaster & Barnsley and we didn't look like we could defend too well. In the third match, our defensive frailties got badly exposed as we got thrashed 4-1 by league leaders Middlesbrough. On-loan striker Stephen Dobbie's double helped us to a great comeback win against a strong Reading side before we wrapped up the month with a narrow 1-0 victory against Watford and I finally had my first clean sheet \o/ Even though we sit prettily in second place behind Middlesbrough after five games, I am not getting carried away as the league is incredibly tough with lots of evenly matched teams.

Capital One Cup

Only second choice players play in the cup competitions as I intend to focus fully on the league to see where it can take us. As a result, we were knocked out very early by League 1 outfit Peterborough after conceding a painful extra-time goal following Gabilondo's mistake.

Things are certainly on the up! As the team grew increasingly familiar with the tactics I want them to play with, we are tightening up at the back and it was a perfect month with four wins out of four. It was a great month for my defensive players and we managed to keep all four teams out. We bagged three away wins against Bournemouth, Millwall and Huddersfield and managed to overcome Leicester 2-0 at home. Spanish loan signing Quini helped himself to two goals in September and after a mini goal drought, last month's young player of the month Lingard bagged the winner against Huddersfield.

We now sit at the top, three points clear of Blackburn and five clear of Middlesbrough. Long may it continue! \o/

We extended our lead at the top after another solid month. Things did not get off to a great start in October as we were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolton at Bloomfield Road. We bounced back with a brilliant 3-0 away win at Charlton with goals from Angel, Ricardo Fuller and Faris Haroun. The standard of our defending has been brilliant since September and it gives us a great platform to build from as we wrapped up the month with two 1-0 home victories against Wigan and Blackburn.

We are now seven points ahead of second placed Middlesbrough and it's a pleasant surprise to see us start the season so well. However, I am expecting a blip sooner or later if we get a few injuries to our key players as our squad still pales in comparison with the promotion favorites.

The honeymoon period is over. There were signs of complacency as our defense crumbled in the second half against Nottingham Forest in our first league match of the month. We led 2-0 after an excellent display in the first half from our false nine Stephen Dobbie. To my dismay, the opposition scored three goals in the last fifteen minutes to grab a great comeback win. We went back to basics against Ipswich at home and managed to hold out for a 1-0 win, before the faded football sensation Frederico Macheda bagged a double in our second away defeat of the month. Thankfully, we showed some bouncebackability and managed to secure all three points against Sheffield Wednesday at home in our last league fixture of a wretched month.

Due to our exceptional start to the season, we are still five points clear of nearest rival Q.P.R after seventeen games. Based on this month's display, my head says that there will be more inconsistencies but my heart hopes otherwise. Hopefully my small squad would be able to handle the rigors of December.

FA Cup

f64ff329-9372-4492-8cc0-9237279faadd_zpse356f185.jpg

Self-explanatory really. Got the worst draw I can get against Man United and I fielded my second string side with lots of youths making their debuts. Thankfully it was only 3-0.

The slump continued into the month of December and we kicked off the busy month with two consecutive defeats against Yeovil and Derby. A top of the table clash with Q.P.R at home was up next and I was livid to concede a late equalizer after Stephen Dobbie put us in the lead. Thankfully, our defense was back to its best as we kept two clean sheets in our next two games against Burnley and Brighton, where we picked up four points.

January was so much better as we picked up three wins and two draws in five games. A seven goal thriller away against Sheffield Wednesday ended in our favor as wide midfielder Faris Haroun bagged a brace. Our great form in January helped us stay two points clear of Q.P.R and it also helped us to a couple of awards \o/

Our early season form is back this month. Four clean sheets out of five pleased me as much as anything else as we ended the month with three wins and two draws. We opened the month with a goal-less draw at Blackburn before a comfortable 3-0 victory at home against Doncaster. Faris Haroun continued his great goal-scoring form with two goals in February and he is not far away from double figures this season. That's not too bad coming from someone playing at MR.

The return to form helped us to maintain a five point lead over nearest rival Q.P.R and with the impending clash of the top two at the end of next month, it is vital to keep them at arm's length. Bring on March!

Worst month of my tenure so far. We kicked off with a positive result against Watford with Faris Haroun continuing his red hot scoring form. Then, disaster struck as we got beaten three times in a row against Bournemouth, Millwall and Leicester City without scoring a single goal. We continue to leave our scoring boots behind against Huddersfield at home and got held 0-0 despite dominating the game. Thankfully, we followed up with a fortunate win against Bolton at Reebok Stadium after Faris Haroun (who else?) scored a late injury time goal. In the most important clash of our season so far, we once again came up short as Q.P.R beat us 1-0 to close the gap to a mere three points.

Thankfully, our bad month was mirrored by Q.P.R's and we managed to maintain a precious three points lead going into the last seven games of the season.

A better month but could be better. We were back to our defensive best with five clean sheets in six, helping us to three wins, two draws and one loss in April. Lingard is the star of the month with three goals in six appearances, while Stephen Dobbie played apprentice with two.

We are almost there, two points ahead of Burnley and three ahead of Q.P.R with a game left to play. A win against Charlton at home will secure both title and promotion. However, my team always lets me down in the most important of matches and I am not too confident about this.

*cross-fingers*

I hate this feeling. To be honest, given the quality of the squad I inherited, I would have taken a second place finish and automatic promotion at the start. But to have gone so close and come up short at the last home game, it was bitter to take. Just as I expected, the team faltered once again in an important game and we lost 1-0 at home against Charlton to lose the title on goal difference. It could have been worse if Burnley won, thankfully they didn't and we did not have to face the agony of the play-offs.

Trying very hard to smile.

Season Review 2013/2014 - Blackpool

League

Final Table (Promoted in second place)

Having overachieved despite the media prediction of us finishing 13th, I should be delighted. However, I was gutted to lose the title on goal difference and it was tough to take. On a brighter note, we look forward to Premier League football next season at Bloomfield Road. Given the quality of our current squad, there's a lot of hard work to be done yet.

Capital One Cup

78dc4467-10b2-448d-acdb-8136c8780c2d_zps248d664d.jpg

We were never going to go far in this competition as I wanted to concentrate fully on the league this season. Nevertheless, I was not happy to go out to an opposition in the lower leagues.

FA Cup

f64ff329-9372-4492-8cc0-9237279faadd_zpse356f185.jpg

Again, no first team players played in the competition and a tough draw against Man United made my decision easier. Was glad not to lose by more against the Red Devils.

Players' Analysis

Squad Stats

No matter what, credit must be given to the group of players whom no one expected to achieve promotion this season. A couple of loan signings did well for me but most of the top performers were in the squad to begin with. It was great to see them fare better than many expected.

Top 3 Players

Faris Haroun

He reminds me a little of Dirk Kuyt/Park Ji Sung. Fantastic movement and work rate despite inferior technical ability. You can't ask for more when a wide midfielder scores 11 goals in a season.

Angel

The unsung hero of the team. Did his name justice as well. Despite playing as the ball winner of the team most of the time, he bagged 5 goals/8 assists and added some much need Spanish touch to the midfield.

Lingard

Who else but the great little magician on loan from Manchester. Cost absolutely nothing due to the parent club relationship. The fit lad started in all 46 league games, scoring 11 goals and making a further 9. My favorite player and he's English \o/

Future Plans

With so many of my players out of contract and most of them not Premier League quality, a busy and crazy summer awaits.

Preseason 2014/2015 - Blackpool

Board Expectations

English Premier League: Stay clear of relegation

FA Cup: Fourth Round

Capital One Cup: Third Round

Budgets

Transfer: 10 million pounds

Wages: 250k pounds

I was never a fan of promoted clubs spending lots of money in their first season back in top flight. Hence the budgets were just about right and I hope that I can do better than Ian Holloway and keep the club up this time round.

Transfers

fd2de893-130d-4321-89f7-2af0ce22dab2_zps48fa3a8e.jpg

A crazy summer. I hope I am not overdoing this. 9 new permanent + loan signings were made in total. In addition, Jack Robinson and Jesse Lingard (kontermann \o/) rejoined the club on loan for another season while central defenders Kirk Broadfoot and Craig Cathcart resigned on free transfers.

3 Key Signings

Steven Fletcher

The lone striker role in my team is vital and he needs to be able to drop deep to link up play and score goals. Steven Fletcher is a proven striker at this level and his finishing ability and all rounded physical stats would be handy in our first season back in top flight.

Kasper Kusk

A promising, versatile attacking player who will add some much needed flair in our attacking play.

Craig Noone

Got relegated last season with Cardiff and hopefully, it would be second time lucky for Craig Noone and he will start down the wings for my team.

Preseason Friendlies

Preseason_zps4a315b04.jpg

With a long preseason done, we are all set and ready to go! Wish me luck!

Looking at the negatives, there were no league wins in our first month back in the top flight. Players were nervous and they were unable to perform to their fullest potential. This is understandable as we were a newly promoted side. On the bright side, we remained unbeaten with three points on the board and performances can only improve from here. The league results sandwiched a Capital One Cup win against Rotherham at Bloomfield Road. New signing and second choice striker Nicklas Helenius staked his claim for a first team spot with the winning goal in the 1-0 win.

We now sit in 13th place in the league table and it was important not to play catch up early on. The Tangerines now looks forward to welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to Bloomfield Road next month!

The month of September saw us bag our first win back in England's premier football competition. It was a much needed win against our relegation rivals Q.P.R and the fact that it was away made it even more satisfying. Once again, Faris Haroun delivered the goods as he scored the vital winner to bag all three points for the Tangerines. Two draws sandwiched the vital win and a 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur showed that we can keep out the best teams in the league.

With the win, we moved up one place this month and now sit safely on 12th place. Manchester United and Liverpool were surprisingly off the pace as they linger in 10th and 14th place respectively.

Capital One Cup

Despite us suffering our first defeat of the season this month, there were more joys than sorrows. I experienced the best result of the save so far with a fantastic 4-0 home win against the mighty Red Devils. Once again, Faris Haroun showed that he is not fazed by the opposition as he grabbed a double clinically. It was pleasing to see both strikers helping themselves to a goal each as well.

We kept another clean sheet as we followed up the great result with a draw at Stoke. Unfortunately, the month ended on a bad note as we fell to a 2-0 away defeat against the Saints after two great goals from Gaston Ramirez. We continue to stay in mid table after one win, draw and defeat each this month and we look forward to kicking off November with a home game against the Magpies.

Two good two bad

These four words sum up the month perfectly. We kicked off the month by throwing the lead away against Newcastle at home and it was frustrating to lose to a set-piece goal in the 2-1 defeat. Thankfully, we bounced back with two great away wins against Fulham and Hull City and these results set us up nicely for the home clash against Middlesbrough. To my surprise, we failed to score at home as we fell to a 2-0 defeat against our relegation rivals after conceding a penalty and a poor goal.

We stayed in 11th place ahead of a very tough December, with the next four fixtures looking like this:

Liverpool H

Arsenal A

Chelsea H

Man City A

With a bit of leeway still, I certainly hope we don't fall too low down the table at the end of December.

This month's matches showed the difference in quality between our squad and the big teams as we suffered four defeats in six. We started off with a narrow 2-1 home win against Liverpool where we were hanging by the thread. The next three games against the Premier League giants ended in convincing defeats where we were nowhere near getting a result. I expected our team to bounce back against Crystal Palace at Bloomfield Road and thankfully we did with the help of headed goals from new signings Stefan Strandberg and Nicklas Helenius. We were brought back down to earth with an away defeat at Villa Park where we didn't create much.

After a tough month, we slipped back down to 13th and I was satisfied with our first half of the season. Signings are settling in nicely and the players have kept us 8 points clear of safety. Looking ahead, the good old FA Cup commences next month \o/

A really mixed month. We kicked off our FA Cup campaign with a 3-2 away victory against Carlisle and the manner of victory was not as comfortable as I would have liked it to be. We then travel to Carrow Road to face an in-form Norwich side and the boys fought well to grind out an useful 1-1 draw. We followed up the good point with an important victory against West Ham at home and Faris Haroun turned out to be our hero once again with an injury time winner. An away draw with Swansea followed before Everton brought our mini unbeaten run to an end with a 2-1 victory at Bloomfield Road.

Aston Villa was up next in the FA Cup and we forced a replay after a 1-1 draw at Villa Park. Lingard continued his great form in the cup competitions as he helped himself to another goal. We ended the month with a tough fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, where we were far from upsetting the odds as the London side ran out 2-0 victors. After another busy month, we sit 13th on 29 points, 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

If you look close enough, you would be able to see that we simply don't score enough goals at this level. There were four home league games this month and we only managed to score 2 goals through our wide players Faris Haroun and Craig Noone. Thankfully, our defense wasn't that bad and we managed to bag 5 points with two draws and a win. Our strikers were on barren runs and it didn't help much.

We slipped down to 14th but thankfully, there is a 5 point gap between us and 15th placed Stoke City, with us having a game in hand. I would be really disappointed if we drop down to 15th at the end of the season.

And so, the Cup run ends. Again, we couldn't find the net as we were held to goal-less draws at home against Villa and Stoke. Eventually, it came unstuck in a replay where Stoke City taught us a footballing lesson on how to be clinical in a 3-0 loss at Britannia Stadium.

A much better month except for a thumping by Middlesbrough at Riverside Stadium. We started off March with a great away victory at Newcastle where our wide players saved the day again with three goals. The Middlesbrough thrashing followed and I was expecting the worst when we had to travel to Old Trafford three days later. Thankfully, we were back to our solid best and we held Man United to a goal-less draw at the Theatre of Dreams. We ended off the month on a high with a convincing 4-1 victory against struggling Hull City and Steven Fletcher finally ended his goal drought with a penalty.

We finally passed the magical 40 point mark and stayed 14th in the table. With a tough April ahead with consecutive games against Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City to come, the safety buffer would be important.

And to end on a bright note, we finally get a decent player in this year's youth intake \o/

Possibly the toughest month of fixtures ever. Four back to back league games against top sides and I was satisfied with the four points obtained. However, in between two good results against Arsenal and Man City, there were two hammerings and I was not happy with the inconsistency shown by my players. Nevertheless, we got through the tough month with valuable points.

Thankfully, we stay 14th and with games against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace coming up, I would be aiming for that 13th spot and lets hope we end the season on a high!

It was the same old story against Aston Villa at Bloomfield Road. We defended well but simply couldn't find the net in a 0-0 draw. It was the complete opposite in our last game of the season at Selhurst Park, where both teams put up a great footballing show and thankfully we ended up on the winning side in a thrilling 4-3 win. Faris Haroun wrapped up a superb season with a terrific hat-trick from MR and he is growing very fast to be my favorite player on the save. As a result, we ended up in 13th place after leapfrogging Fulham in the great end to the season \o/

Season Review 2014/2015 - Blackpool

League

Final Table

Our main aim was to stay clear of relegation and I was glad to achieve it at the end of the season. Added some much needed quality to the squad in the summer and even though the media predicted relegation for the Tangerines, we overcame the odds and had a couple of brilliant results against the Manchester clubs. All in all a satisfying season.

Capital One Cup

0a0b59cc-bc8b-476e-83ca-61c90d495389_zps48612350.jpg

With the lack of depth in our squad, success was never on the cards as we crashed out against the Magpies after resting most of my first-team players. Would like to try and win this as we improve the squad bit by bit along the way.

FA Cup

10632c75-76b9-4c6e-8512-69d2510e5f9b_zpsd5917379.jpg

Long cup run with two replays and eventually came undone at Britannia stadium as we struggled to score goals throughout the competition. On the bright side, second choice players got valuable game time to keep themselves sharp.

Players' Analysis

Squad Stats

Solid effort from the players who once again overachieved. New signings settled well and added some much needed quality and depth. However, further improvements need to be made for us to climb further up the table and do better in the cup competitions.

Top 3 Players

Stefan Strandberg

A fantastic signing in the summer for only 325k pounds and he grew to be the defensive lynchpin of the side. With him in the side, we were able to keep out the league contenders and we struggled at times with him out injured. He's only 24 and I have high hopes for the Norwegian.

Kasper Kusk

This little technician from Denmark was signed to add some much needed creativity to our midfield and that was exactly what he gave us. 11 assists and 3 goals for only 525k pounds and it was a bargain. Again, he is only 23 and he can only improve.

Faris Haroun

My player of the season. Faris scored so many important goals for us when our strikers were on barren runs and we could have been so much lower down in the table without his 11 goals and 3 assists. Brilliant.

Future Plans

Glad to see the board investing some money to help make Blackpool a proper Premier League team. I would like to further improve the team and avoid the infamous second season syndrome.

David Beckham confirmed as new Manchester United manager

I'm blessed to be given this opportunity. Firstly, I want to thank Blackpool president Karl Oyston for giving me my first managerial job. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Blackpool but once I had found out I was the number one target from the important people at Manchester United, I couldn't say no.

I would also like to thank Ed Woodward for the opportunity to manage such a great club like Manchester United. I'm really ecstatic and I can't wait to get going. I will dedicate all my time to fight for this club and bring silverware back into our trophy cabinet. I am here for the long haul and it was important to come into a project over a number of years. It's a new cycle and that is something that we will work towards in the years to come.

If the game knew you were David Beckham (e.g. you used to the editor to make yourself favoured personnel) this would be a very interested and fairly realistic career path.

However, for the manager of Blackpool, with 2 seasons of experience in the role, to become Man Utd manager, is very unrealistic.

To be fair, I was baffled when they offered me the job as well. I did not use the editor and yet I am on Man United's favoured personnel without managing them for any game yet. Not too sure why, anyone experienced this before?

Is it maybe just linking your name to the real David Beckham, who would presumably be on the list of favoured personnel anyway?

I don't think so, since there is another 'David Beckham (Player)' under the club Icons. I have chosen Man United as my favorite club and that probably played a part in that?

Yeah, would help if I actually read before I posted...

Could be that - certainly a strange one. I wouldn't put it past being something to do with your name, and it being a minor bug, but unless you care enough to put it up as a possible bug report, then we'll probably never know. I'd just take it as a win :p

Capacity: 75797 all-seater

I did not expect to get a top job so soon and it came as a pleasant surprise. Sticking to my philosophy when I manage top clubs, I will only restrict myself to signing English players and develop local talents to help the national team as much as I can. As mentioned in the earlier posts, my name is already in the club list of Icons and I have not even managed a game. Regardless of whether it is a bug or not, I would take it as a tinge of realism added to the game :D

Board Expectations

English Premier League: Challenge for title

UEFA Champions League: Semi Finals

FA Cup: Final

Capital One Cup: Nil

Tough expectations in my first season in charge. Nevertheless, I will try my best and pray that I can avoid the sack!

% of transfer revenue made available: 75%

Wages: £2,300,000

Wish me luck!

We have to remember that your reputation to start with was 'International Footballer' so it's not that unrealistic.

Preseason 2015/2016 - Manchester United

Transfers

158b3020-fce8-4292-af0f-e5a581e2d34e_zps11e92daf.jpg

Toprak was obviously not signed by me as I wanted to go English with my transfer policy. I was gutted when I realized that Sam Johnstone was sold as he developed really well for me in my earlier save. I do not fancy Lindergaard and hence, Jason Steele was brought in as cover for the excellent De Gea. Callum Chambers was signed to cover Rafael at right-back and hopefully make the right full back spot his own a few years down the road. As I play with only one upfront, Mandzukic was considered surplus to requirements and he was offloaded to Dortmund for 11.25 million pounds.

Toprak

Doesn't look impressive but I am willing to give him a chance this year as third choice center back behind Smalling and Evans.

Steele

Great English goalkeeper who will be my number two behind David De Gea.

Chambers

Have always liked the look of him in real life and he plays like a seasoned pro for Southampton at times. Great all round stats and with age on his side, Callum Chambers can go on to be a regular right-back for Manchester United.

Preseason Friendlies

aef90d03-1ba6-4e9b-becc-77e257aa8d0e_zpsaea6fa60.jpg

Not too proud of our preseason friendlies' results. A match against Burnley was organized horribly early with my players just back for preseason and as a result, we suffered a humiliating 2-1 defeat in my first game in charge. I was also angered by a goal-less draw against Forest, and it further proves that there are lots of work to be done yet.

Not the start that I hoped for!

We kicked off our league campaign with a morale boosting 1-0 win against Arsenal at Old Trafford with Wayne Rooney grabbing the winner. Next, we had to play Fenerbahce in the Champions League qualifiers as we finished fourth last year. Our players were bang on form and we beat them 5-0 emphatically.

However, we defended horrifically back in the league and Southampton dismissed us 3-1 as we suffered our first away defeat of the season. We then finished the job in Turkey with a 1-0 victory before finishing the month with a disappointing goal-less draw at Villa Park.

With one win, one draw and one defeat, we sit in 10th place, one place ahead of my former club Blackpool. We will be travelling to leaders Chelsea in September and it is vital not to lose further ground on the title race.

A much better month in the league. However, I am not happy to see the team get knocked out of Capital One Cup so early. We began the month with a vital clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and we were glad to come away with all three points after a close encounter. Shinji Kagawa played the role of super sub and scored the winning goal shortly after coming on. We were in high spirits and that helped us to a brilliant 5-0 win against our bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford. Danny Welbeck went wild and grabbed the match ball with three clinical finishes.

We traveled to St James' Park for our opening Capital One Cup tie and I was devastated to go out to a penalty and a free-kick in a 2-1 defeat. We wrapped up the month with a routine 2-0 home victory against Hull City and Danny Welbeck helped himself to two more goals.

We are now two points behind Chelsea in 4th place and it was pleasing to see my old club Blackpool starting the season well in 8th place.

UEFA Champions League

We kicked off the Champions League group stage with a dull 0-0 draw in France and our away form is showing no signs of improvement. Thanks to a Scott Brown sending off (he was booked the second time for diving), we gave the home fans lots to cheer about with a comfortable 5-1 victory. Phil Jones played like United legend Bryan Robson as he powered himself to a two goal display.

We now sit at the top of the group, level on points with second placed Marseille, with Scottish giants Celtic a point behind.

An emotional trip back to Bloomfield Road awaits us in October!
