MLS transfers from non-MLS clubs

I know that amongst MLS clubs we use trades and allocated funds but how did Seattle buy Dempsey? I read the fee was £6 million, on fm12 I never had more than a few hundred thousand in allocated funds. Can transfers like Dempseys happen on fm? If so how do we know how much money we have?

Seattle currently have three Designated Players with another potential one out on loan. I can offer him a new contract but when he returns there'll be four designated players, what happens then?

If I sell to a non-MLS side how much of the transfer money do I get to keep?

Cheers! I'm guessing these sorts of deals are not possible in FM at least not when the league is putting money towards it.

I think it is possible to get these sorts of deals done, I have managed to sign a few players from outside the Mls that were outside my budget and they went through without a problem I think that as long as it isn't stupid money it's possible.

It is possible, I know in my MLS game as New England, I was able to keep a transfer budget of $15 million by selling my top players when they become too good for MLS.

You only get a portion of money from transfers, but that portion can be used to sign players from other leagues. You just have to be sure to keep enough money under the salary cap so you can afford your incoming player.
