    How can I get my AMR to get behind the ball when we aren't in possession, without dropping his mentality so that he takes on a sterile passing style?

    Set him to man mark the opposition winger or full backs has been suggested before. Other than that I'm not sure what more could be done.

    AMR is an attacking position with lower defensive responsibility, if you want him to defend more you put him in the MR position with attacking orders.
