Sunday the 29th of October National League 1
Immingham 5 – 0 Hessle Rangers
Attendance: 103
Young striker Martyn James opened the scoring from the edge of the box after just 17 minutes. John Harkness headed in for the lead on the half hour mark before Stothard once again showed his precision with a pinpoint placed shot in the closing minutes of the half to make it three. Ginsberg slotted home from a free kick for the second time this season on 55 mins and soon after the quintet of goals was completed by a simple tap in for Ben Talbott.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 100% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Jim Bowman | sub 55 | 55% | 7.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 85% | 7.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 71% | 9.1 | 1 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Nathan Walker | | 69% | 7.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | | 73% | 8.9 | 1 | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Baba Ginoosh | | 67% | 7.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 87% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Jake Stothard | | 70% | 8.1 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Martyn James | sub 59 | 87% | 7.9 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Smith | | 73% | 8.4 | | 2 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Chris Warrington | on 55 | 80% | 7.0 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Kevin O'Harper | on 45 | 69% | 6.8 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Ben Talbott | on 59 | 86% | 7.3 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Richard Hull | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Johannes Netto | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

EDIT: Popped a little gift for you guys in post two, voting will be enabled at the end of the season for "Players goal of the season"... Currently my money is on Stothard!

A bit sad Duffy, Hull and Netto are not getting any games. Hopefully they can get recognised for good performances in the reserves. It is mainly down to the preffered formation of 4-1-2-1-2 using a DM and AMC without wingers. But with any squad there are preferred and not preferred players and formations.
I can say with confidence that Luke Doyle is about to get his big first team break as Netto goes away on international duty when Immingham play their first leg at home in the Humber Cup knockout rounds.

Love the goal videos mate. Stothard is odds on at the minute but things change fast in football and Martyn James has finally started scoring.
I think Mike Nevo's problem is the defence... When they do rubbish it puts tons of pressure on Nevo and he just isn't good enough yet to cope with that. However, when we do brilliant in defence like that recent 5 - 0 win, that's when Mike Nevo performsRegardless of results, I seem to be 1st choice no matter what.
A MOM performance from Harkness!!! Even has a contender for goal of the season.... defenders never win with towering headers though.... but there is still time to pop in a screamer from outside the 18!!! haha. Stothard looks like the winner for goal of the season so far though!
My money is on Stothard tooAny chance of a screenie?

Saturday the 5th of November National League 1
Immingham Town 3 0 Westella & Willerby
Attendance: 124
Ginsberg opened up the scoring as Westella & Willerby went down a man, Martyn James added two goals in a period of play that saw Westella & Willerby go down another man. The scoreline could have been much bigger if the opponents had not parked the bus and given up on attack and closed out every play Immingham made. This result moves Immingham up to 5th in the table.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 100% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Chris Warrington | sub 45 | 78% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 68% | 7.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 82% | 7.5 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Nathan Walker | | 69% | 8.0 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | sub 80 | 67% | 7.3 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 72% | 7.2 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 89% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Jake Stothard | | 67% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Martyn James | sub 80 | 78% | 8.8 | 2 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Smith | | 79% | 7.1 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Jim Bowman | on 45 | 67% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Andy Stewart | on 80 | 94% | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Ben Talbott | on 80 | 86% | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Baba Ginoosh | on 45 | 86% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Johannes Netto | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

What was the full time result in the game I didn't play?
It seems Steeper and Harkness were the only ones keeping Hull at bay...
I think the game messed up somewhere with the red card thing, will go back and recheck! I will update when done.
EDIT: The match summary said he was dismissed but he wasnt, no idea and I did not think to double check! The game does make the odd mistake I guess.
As for the subbing, I think it was because of a poor start. The manager is a bit fickle I guess!

A bit disappointing that Johannes Netto doesn't seem to be getting any game time![]()
Seems like Geni has gone of the the boil maybe its because of playing for Luxembourg
pretty poor averge rating still, need to keep chipping in with assists
Glad to see O'Harper picking up a couple of assists now. Good lad.
Yeh, I am too, three guys have not really been playing. I will report on how they are doing in the reserves, hopefully some good performances there and they will earn a 1st team start!
He is being played out of position for the club side as the manager seems to favour a 4-1-2-1-2 no wingers. That formation does explain why some players are not playing and the manager doesn't seem to want to try alternatives![]()

Nice to see Warrington going allright at the moment.
Looks like alot of average play from my midfielder :/
Looking forward to the KC leg 2 game. Usually when entering into December, players begin to gather 'Wnt' icons. Would be interesting to see who is sniffing round who. Keep us posted would you Nine. ( :

A one man show and a strong defensive outing helped Immingham to a two goal win at home. Their opponents never really got going and only had one shot on goal throughout the entire game. David Ginsberg earnt man of the match for his wonder goal on 52 mins and superb tackling, plus seven important interceptions. Thursday the 24th of November Humber Cup
Hull City (2) 0 2 (3) Immingham Town
Attendance: 11,742
In a topsy-turvy encounter the rules of the Humber Cup favoured Immingham, with only home nation players eligible for the match Immingham faced a team comprised of U21 internationals and up and coming youngsters. This band could not hold back Immingham's experienced striker Ben Smith who powered through the defence twice to slot home both the opening goal and the winner. Looking good. Best defense, 5 points of the leaders and a win at Hull, all very promising
It needs the top teams to falter a few more times, Cleethorpes have been over achieving beyond belief and I doubt it can continue. Grimsby Borough have slipped up of late and Bottesford Town have recovered from a slow start.
Immingham have just drawn too many times, they need to start winning those games. It has been a case that the opposition score just once, a penalty and Immingham score just once and draw the game. They have lost about 6 points (over 3 games) to penalties doing that, if they can stop conceding so many penalties and score more themselves then they have a chance to top the league!
Get in! A brilliant display from Mike Nevo vs Hull City, also thanks to the defenders![]()
Amazing performance in the Humber cup.
The Immingham fans have almost stopped celebrating the momentous win at the KC, now focus turns back to improving on the 5th position in the league as the return fixtures begin.
Additionally the leagues winter break is approaching in a few weeks, in this time the Humber Cup concludes and the FA Trophy starts. When the league resumes the FA cup starts up (might be the other way round lol). Currently the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup are progressing, local village sides and lower league towns battle it out for games against more established sides.
In the FA trophy the Championship and National League one clubs do battle. An early exit from the cups can leave a Championship or National Division 1 side with a simple schedule, do well in the cups and there can be some fixture congestion, just like one or two weeks during the Humber Cup group stage. Can the Immingham squad cope with all this knockout stage pressure? Will the winter break prove to be adequate in recharging the performances? Can the strikers start finding the net with greater frequency? Will the defence hold out as before?
So many questions! So much action to come!

Partying in the streets returns as Immingham get one over on local rivals Cleethorpes Town. Saturday the 17th of December National League 1
Beverley Town 0 - 1 Immingham Town
Attendance: 36
Bowman heads home the winner and makes it two man of the match performances in a row as Immingham scrape 3 points away to bottom side Beverley town. A poor performance in relative terms but good enough for this match and good enough to move them to 2nd place in the league, just 4 points behind 1st place Grimsby Borough. This fact can only be encouraging as the next match is away in the 2nd leg of the Humber Cup quarter final against Premier Division side North Ferriby.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 98% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | sub 76 | 61% | 7.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 78% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | Jim Bowman | | 80% | 8.5 | 1 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Nathan Walker | sub 65 | 80% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | | 64% | 7.0 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Baba Ginoosh | | 75% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 89% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Teron Fong | | 66% | 6.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Ben Talbott | | 66% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Smith | sub 71 | 72% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Richard Hull | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Chris Warrington | on 65 | 79% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Andy Stewart | on 45 | 79% | 6.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn James | on 71 | 97% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Johannes Netto | on 76 | 95% | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Most caps, plenty of clean sheets, and most appearances![]()
I love it that one of our biggest offensive threats is the very defensive minded DM David Ginsberg.
Player Interviews #1
With the winter break looming at the end of the month and a few days off after tomorrows game at North Ferriby the squad is a mixed bag of feelings. The team is expected to turn up, play there part but generally roll over and let the premiership side progress into the semi finals. However the squad harmony and moral at Grange Lane is rumoured to be at an all time low as the club is languishing in the relegation zone after two thirds of the league season.
Immingham manager has decided to help the players blow off steam. They have been allowed to do some exclusive interviews for this blog. This has not happened until now due to the age of the main squad, the expectations heaped upon them and the sheer number and frequency of fixtures. Add on social and home lives it is to be expected that the players are somewhat protected from media intrusion.
As the squad has proven itself to be wise beyond its years time and time again this season as well as being able to cope with the pressure and exposure such interviews give I have been allowed to do this for any willing players. I have also been given the opportunity to print any future interviews a player wished to give. Each player has chosen to participate, no one is expected to but within a day of opening up the offer I have had a strong response.
I had prepared four questions I was to ask each player and then open the last question up to suit the players unique situation. Using my media degree learnt interviewing skills I teased out the key issues (OK I left the floor open a bit here for them to fill in the blanks as I barely scraped a 3rd when I graduated)
First through my door was the giant 18 year old Jake Stothard, specially made crutches and all. He is currently resting for two more weeks with a severe twisted ankle. His buoyant and almost cocky nature was apparent from the start. I was sure to have my hands full here! Stothard is Doncaster born but is eligible through proximity clauses in the nationality laws. He has played in 19 competative fixtures, scored 5 times but is yet to win a man of the match.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
Stothard: Goals, I like goals. I like big ones small ones but most of all scoring spectacular ones. I don't like passing, end of. But I can't quite decide.
My response: Yes you can score well, one in every four matches! But I am surprised, I have seen you in training and you are a superb passer of the ball, I cannot believe you have only had two assists so far! I hope to see some of that skill in a match and I bet the manager is yelling at you constantly to set someone else up?
Stothard: ....
He smirks at me from across the table and I hastily move onto the next question.
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
Stothard: My screamers vs Louth Town and Hall Road Rangers
My response: I agree those were two fine, well taken goals. My money is on your volley for goal of the season!
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
I don't like anyone, but no one dares confront me... I wonder why?
My response: Not sure why, I really cannot think. I have heard people do respect your skills on the football pitch, they frequently comment on your deft touch and good technique.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
Stothard: I want to captain my country, be the all time top scorer and basically win the league. And being goal of the season would be great too.
My Response: I do think you have a good future in football, you are still a way behind in the scoring charts but your injury has hampered that. I expect you might get a chance to win some caps in the near future as well as stick plenty more in the net!
Stothard: You better believe it!
Question 5. Who will get player of the season?
Stothard: Me. Are there any other contenders?
My response: Well there is a whole team of players, I personally do think you can acheive a lot more as the season reaches its climax. Get well soon and good luck when you return to training in a few weeks.
Stothard ducks under the door frame and hobbles out the office and heads off to join his team mates in the club lounge. I get the sense he is quite frustrated by his long injury layoff and nothing but eager to get back to playing again. As he leaves I get an email saying Lincoln have recently shown interest in his skills. It wont be long before he finds out!

Player Interviews #2
Next up was tall 16 year old Kevin O'Harper. A plucky young lad from Skegness south of the country. His Celtic roots are clear as he enters the room. The young central midfield has played a part in 21 fixtures this season, been a key part of a lot of build up play with some slick passing as well as assisting in three goals. He is yet to find the net in a competitive fixture!
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
O'Harper:Overall, it's pretty great. We're doing great in the league and I've been playing pretty well. I'd just like to sneak a goal in one of these games. I scored in the friendly against the reserves so I know I've got the ability if I get the chance.
My response: You seem to be key in working the ball forward, your 67% pass rate, 90% tackle rate and 93% header rate mean you help the team win the ball back frequently. Hopefully that makes you feel better?
O'Harper: I still really want to experience scoring a goal in a league or cup match, to me nothing will match that feeling. I do know I contribute but I still feel a pang of jealousy when someone else finds the back of the net, even if I played a key role in making the goal.
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
O'Harper: The MoM against my hometown of Skegness! Haha!
My response: I heard they ran a piece about you in the local school paper, nothing good said however
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
O'Harper: I get along really well with Ben Talbott. Feeding him the goal against Skegness was pretty awesome for both of us.
My response: I know that win meant a lot, your friends and family from the area were all there to see the game. Made up most of the crowd from what I heard (only 20 saw the game from inside the ground)! I still think you wish it was you who had scored, especially after seeing fellow midfielders net that game.
O'Harper: The whole experience really made up for not finding the net on that occasion.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
O'Harper: Ultimately I'd like to represent England and help win an international Cup. I just hope that I'm good enough to make the squad some day. Maybe if England isn't interested in me, I'll declare for Ireland!
My response@:You never know, I watch a lot of training going on at this club and I see potential in all the squad. I just hope you get noticed one day! Be glad you have many years ahead to impress.
Question 5. What's the worst thing about playing for Immingham?
O'Harper: The food! Ugh!
My response: I admit the club does get most of its food discounted from the local food factories, it means we can pump more into hiring nice coaches to take you across the river to play in Hull. The bridge toll is not free either remember!

Well done, nine_iron! Thanks for the interview!
Player Interviews #3
As soon as Han Sol Geni strutted into my office I knew his kind already, thinks he is James Bond but really isn't. At just 16 he can blame the hormones but he is really kidding no one. Every team has one of these and Han is ours. His poor to average performances have been countered by two goals in the 17 first team outings.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
Han Sol Geni: The most satisfying thing at the club is the lady masseuse the least satisfying in the strikers ability of not being in the right place at the right time when i cross a ball. and the Managers inability to play wingers is really messing with my mojo
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
Han Sol Geni: Playing for Luxembourg U21s and being in the starting 11 for Immingham.
My response: Congratulations on you youth caps, also congrats for your stunning goal against Skegness. Making it dip under the bar but over the keeper like that was a superb piece of skill on your part.
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
Han Sol Geni: I dislike the manager for playing me out of position
My response: I understand your concern, I hear the squad is retraining players to fit into new positions to better fit with the preferred formation. I do hope soon the manager will try some wing play, I do find this "down the middle" game a little boring at times. We shall have to wait and see.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
Han Sol Geni : Well isn't that obvious to win everything with Immingham and take them on to bigger and better things
My response: I think the recent turn in form and the way our rivals have stumbled recently can make that happen.
Question 5... Before I could ask my final question Han Sol Geni interrups me.
Han Sol Geni: This is a question for you the journalist who do you think is the best player on the team and also if you had to who would you... (I interrupted him before he could finish)
My response: OK kid time to go, I have lots of work to do!

Player Interviews #4
Another youngster pops in next, I guess these guys are eager for media exposure. I doubt my little online blog is front page material but at least the fans will have a good read. Martyn James from Market Rasen is a well rounded, promising striker who is good both off and on the ball. This is reflected in his 3 man of the match performances from a recent up turn in form.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
Martyn James: Playing with so many other players of the same age means we have a real tight bond and coming into training is something we all look forward to. It is not really work and feels like hanging out with friends in the park as a kid.
My response: With so many players of the same age its obvious you would have met some of the others before and have similar interests. I wonder if that does alienate some of the older squad members perhaps.
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
Martyn James: Winning away to Hull in the cup was a proud day for everyone at the club and really gives us the appetite to be successful and experience more days like that. Also the 5-0 in Skegness was a wonderful day and after the game the players went to the beach and, although the sea was freezing cold, we all braved it and had a right laugh. Even the gaffer joined us.
My response: Yes I heard about Mr Hockless getting his trousers dirty and wet! I wonder why I was not invited, I guess I was having fish and chips after playing mini golf while that happened.
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
Martyn James: Well I sometimes feel that Ben Smith would be better off elsewhere. His is much older than the other lads and sometimes looks a bit isolated off the pitch. I wouldn't say I actually dislike him but as younger player having the only senior player at the club in the same position can be frustrating, although, to be fair, he is a very good performer. I am determined to become the number one striker at the club and will continue to try and prove to the gaffer that I am worth my place in the side. and if that means Smith moves on then even better.
My response: I have been impressed with your turn in form, you had a period where you were winning points for the club almost on your own I think you would be better forging a stronger bond with a senior player, Ben's wealth of experience is something you can draw on, even the student eventually becomes the master! Lets hope you can build on your 6 goals going forward.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
Martyn James: It sounds somewhat cliched, but I want to play for club and country as often as possible and win as many trophies as I can. I do try and remember though that I only just starting my career and can't see a move away from Immingham in the near future. I don't want to look too much into the future and prefer to concentrate on the next game so I can help the lads try and catch Grimsby and snatch the league title.
My response: Yes the next game is a biggie, its probably nearly time we wrapped this up so you can go rest.
Question 5. The current manager seems intent on playing without wingers. What do you, as a striker, think about this and do you think it harms your chances of scoring goals with little service from wide positions.
Martyn James: I have to admit I prefer playing with wingers and when I joined at the start of the season I really struggled for goals and I felt this to be part of the reason. I do respect the gaffer though and will do my best regardless of the tactics. I do think I am slowly getting used to our play style and will be looking for a strong finish to the season.
My response: We can all see the change in form, he is sticking to his tactic firmly, choosing more to integrate players into it rather than fit a tactic to the squad. The whole team took time to adjust (except Stothard and Ginsberg who it benefits) and the early league form shows that. The change in form I agree is as the squad learns the style and adapts.

Now thinking about it, I see why people don't confront me... My specially made crutch broke this morning.
Oh dear, not good for the clubs budget. More discount fish fingers for lunch I guess
More interviews to come tonight and maybe even the 2nd leg of the North Ferriby game. I will be making good progress on Saturday and Sunday however so stay tuned! I have a feeling interesting things will happen. The winter break will bring a variety of news and a transfer window! I fully expect to be in or almost in February by the end of this weekend.
With lots of progress to be made it will mean there will be just 6 rounds of the league left and the remaining knockout competitions after this weekends updates. This signup is progressing a lot quicker than I expected, I hope I am providing enough detail or not going too fast so people cannot keep up! I apologise for not having a posting schedule, I have plenty enough spare time for this so far and its so exciting I just cannot wait for the next match or snippet of news. That means I have just ended up posting and posting and posting! If this is OK for you guys please let me know, if not I am always open to suggestions and improvements, so far I have incorporated as many as I can and I try to listen to what you need and want as followers.
I would say if your player has not yet participated or hardly participated you should still keep reading this, I still have a few surprises up my sleeves to keep you all engaged!

Going great mate and love the interviews. Nice touch.
Player Interviews #5
15 year old first team regular David Ginsberg was next, a hard working and tireless defensive midfield. He is a sniper from the penalty spot and its one of the players whp performs well above average week in week out. He is probably the main reason why, along with Stothard, the manager prefers a narrow formation.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
David Ginsberg: I find it really satisfying that the team trusts me so much, even though I'm the youngest player on the squad, to step up and take penalties for the team and also helping out so much with keeping us be the side that concedes the least amount of goals.
My response: Your success rate means you should be the player of choice from the spot for a while, from what I have seen in training you are the best player in the squad for the job!
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
David Ginsberg: My massive 2 goal game versus Appleby Frodingham to literally win the game for Immingham Town.
My response: It was a stunning game, the goal from nearly 40 yards has a shot for goal of the season, give Stothard a run for his money.
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
David Ginsberg: The whole team is just very fun to play with, but we're all pretty young and from the same area so, I mean most of us already knew each other before joining the team, albeit mostly as opponents, and it's just been easy to play together, though, if we weren't winning as much, there might be a little less cohesion, but that's how it is in all locker rooms.
My response: I understand you have run into some of the players before at inter-school level and country training before independence. I am glad its working to the teams advantage.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
David Ginsberg: I hope to help bring our country to the top of the world and I hope to bring our team to be the best in the league and win all the trophies.
My response: I doubt the country will go that far, winning a game first would be a good start... The team however, winning the league and promotion looks ever more likely with each passing week at the moment!
Question 5. Do you mind that while the manager is using a formation that greatly benefits you, others are left on the sidelines because of it?
David Ginsberg: I feel a little guilty, we are a close team and those who are being left out have made their voice heard. This has only driven on to make the most of my opportunities and I feel I have given my absolute all to make sure their absence is not in vain.

Player Interviews #6
John Harkness is a plucky under rated young central defender. His above average performances have helped Immingham keep a lot of clean sheets. His low yellow card rate, no reds and high header and tackle success rate have all contributed to him maintaining a starting position in the squad for a majority of the games.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
John Harkness: The players, the fans and the manager are the things that keep me going! Loving the teamwork from the lads and i think it shows in our league performances!
My response: I agree, the squad harmony is fantastic, mentioned in nearly every single interview I have conducted so far.
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
John Harkness: It has to be being an integral part in this defence.... a defence thats conceded the least goals in the league i might add! Oh and that goal, i dont score many but i,m just one of those defenders that enjoys getting one over on the opposition at attacking set pieces.
My response: Your tackling alone has been superb, you also seem to be in the right place at the right time to make the key tackle or header.
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
John Harkness: I really get on well with Leo Curtis, i think we understand each other on and off the field. I know i shouldn't speak outside of the dressing room but we all find it hard to socialise with Ben 'Grandpa' Smith... i think its to do with that generation gap! haha, All jokes aside, Ben has really been raking in the goals and we're grateful to have him!
My response: The age difference between the rest of the squad and Ben does seem to be a common discussion point. I can see you work well with Leo, together you have put up quite a fortification, just three goals scored against at home in the league is simply amazing!
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
John Harkness: Everyone wants to play for their country right?!?!?!? So thats probably my Number one long term goal!
My response: It can happen, you are still young. You are up against some quality established players in the national squad. I doubt it will be long before you get some U21 apps to your name if you keep on performing like you are.
Question 5. If u had to choose... Clean sheet with a 1-0 win... or a draw with you scoring a wonder-goal equaliser?
John Harkness: What kind of question is that?!? I hold my line... I bully the opposing strikers and i protect my keeper! Thats just what i do.... Clean sheet.... EVERYTIME!
My response: I expected that, you are really dedicated to the task and it is showing in the stats and league position. Keep it up!

Player Interviews #7
The last interview of the day was with right back Martin Steeper, as one of the older youth players he is looked up to by those around him for his superb tackling skills and consistency of performance.
Question 1. What do you find most satisfying or least satisfying about life with the club?
Martin Steeper: The bars and clubs round here are terrible and most of the girls are like pigs in clogs, so it allows me to stay focused on my training and development at the club. If there is no matchday and the gaffer gives me the nod, we can enjoy a sensible night over the border in neighbouring Yorkshire, with a few of the Doncaster Rovers academy players.
My response: I am sure there is always going to be arguments between nights out across the estuary or nights out in Grimsby or Lincoln. Good thing most of the squad is too young still! Maybe in a few years it might be a problem for the club with so many 18th birthdays coming up!
Question 2. What is your proudest achievement so far?
Martin Steeper: The victory at the KC Stadium must go down as the proudest moment yet. We proved on the big stage that we really are a team with real potential, already capable of beating the biggest team in Lincs and Humber.
My response: Lets hope we can top it against North Ferriby, you were part of a rock solid defensive effort that game. Since that performance the local media, like yourself, believe the cup to be ours for the taking, so the stories go anyway.
Question 3. Who are you really getting along with or who do you dislike?
Martin Steeper: Han Sol Geni is a bit of a brat. He wont mind me saying this, as for him, its a little more much craved attention for him. He is constantly moaning about the tactics the boss plays. I personally think they are working great, and the results speak for themselves. Plus, the system allows me to get forward and provide the width whilst David Ginsberg sits deep to cover.....and of course has the odd crack at goal.
My response: You seem to know your fellow squad members well, if you have any more inside scoops let me know! The attacking nature of the back line including Ginsberg has been impressive, moving into a wing back role in attack does seem to suit your playing style well. Work on that crossing and things can only get better.
Question 4. What are your hopes and aspirations in football within this country/league structure?
Martin Steeper: I love it here. We have a real great nucleus of young stars. I want us to enjoy a spell of dominance in the coming years. We can definately win promotion this season. I hope to at some point of my career, play for Doncaster Rovers, but that will only come from giving my all to Immingham.
My response: That is good to hear, keep up those good ratings and other clubs will soon take notice like Morecambe.
Question 5. What do you make of the interest from Morecambe?
Martin Steeper: I wont lie, I would see what they come up with, but it would be a big decision to move just now, and one that I wouldnt be keen on making. The coaching staff here have my best interests at heart and really push me to develop. I owe them for that, and am thankful.
My response: I really think you are too good for them and can achieve more here first. Stick at it and good luck in the next game, I bet you will be in the starting 11 as long as you are fit.
With all the interviews over for the day and all the blog posts done it was time to go home and get a good nights rest. Tomorrow brings a huge game for the club, an early start, a coach journey up the M180 and across the bridge. Anything could happen, with this squad I doubt it will be anything other than spectacular!

Tuesday the 20th of December Humber Cup quarter Final leg 2
The away fixture is finally here. Not sure if it was the long day interviewing players but I released I had been putting the wrong date on the blog. I have corrected it now as TODAY is Tuesday the 20th, not yesterday when I did the interviews.
So this important day for the club started with a big pep talk, big occasions like this meant a lot of the players got out of school or collage early and arrived at the club with plenty of time to spare before the evening kick off. Once complete we all bundled onto the coach and set off. Instead of turning into the city this time we headed west up the Humber towards Grange Lane in North Ferriby. Team news from North Ferriby was very much in our favour. The big names of Paul Harsley and Steve Wilson were not in the starting 11 due to fitness issues. Have being rested last time in preference for league fixtures that means this time means Immingham will face a similar squad to the one from the first leg. This came as somewhat of a relief to the players! The other factor is that North Ferriby have not won since October having only made it this far in the Humbr Cup on penalties.
North Ferriby (0) 0 – 1 (1) Immingham Town
Attendance: 559
In a big upset Division 1 promotion chasers Immingham Town get one over on Premiership relegation certainties North Ferriby. In a first half of squandered exchanges players on both sides began to tire as the long summer to winter stretch of the season took its toll. The second half began in a sprightly manner but a flurry of yellow cards for Immingham Town tipped the game in favour of the opposition. With players tiring the manager switched to a 4-1-3-2 formation with Netto and Geni on either wing, it was not long before a deep cross from Netto was met at the back post by super sub Geni who headed in unmarked to put Immingham in the lead. From them on North Ferriby were a different side, they attacked with vengeance but nerves and lack of composure saw chance after chance squandered. Finally, one minute into time added on North Ferriby were faced with an open goal from an acute angle, the strike took half a second too long and buried the ball into the side netting, almost instantly after the final whistle rang out and Immingham progress!Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 98% | 6.5 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | sub 45 | 63% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 75% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | Jim Bowman | | 76% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Chris Warrington | sub 56 | 67% | 7.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | David Ginsberg | | 54% | 7.0 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 67% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | Johannes Netto | | 68% | 6.9 | | 1x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Teron Fong | sub 45 | 73% | 5.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Talbott | | 61% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Martyn James | | 76% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | John Harkness | on 45 | 62% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Andy Stewart | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Nathan Walker | on 56 | 87% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Han Sol Geni | on 45 | 84% | 7.5 | 1 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Baba Ginoosh | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
The party atmosphere on the bus was even greater than that after the Hull game, playing infront of such a huge crowd at the KC had drained the players emotionally on that occasion. This time the more familiar atmposphere meant the players were free to sing in triumph long into the night. I suspect when the players wake up tomorrow the world will be a different place.
The way Ginsberg sacrificed himself for the team tonight by playing on after a nasty fall to the ground will be remembered, he now faces three weeks out with a damaged elbow. How the club will cope without him is very much an unknown. Some good news is Harkness is back in training and should be available for the first team squad very soon. The team has done well in the two weeks he was out with Bowman stepping in to replace him.
SEMI FINAL DRAW: At the neutral Venue of Sincil Bank
The next day the players were informed of their next round opponents will be last placed Premier League side Stamford. Stamford have a similar recent record to North Ferriby but have recorded plenty of wins in the Humber Cup. The game will be a close one but current form suggests this is a far easier test for Immingham and a place in the final is all but certain. The teams are to meet at a neutral venue, Sincil Bank. One of the bigger stadia in the country, it should provide a suitable atmosphere for the final stages of the Humber Cup.

Wednesday the 28th of December National Divison 1
Immingham Town 4 – 0 Chalk Lane
Attendance: 141
Takeover bound Chalk lane simply laid down and let Immingham walk to a four goal victory. Talbott opened the scoring on 11 mins with a clumsy lunge that worked out better than it looked. Talbott made it to with a low drilled shot from the edge of the area. Ben Smith added a third in the half time whistle. In the second half Fong made a mess of another tackle and took a second yellow. A quick restructure and some good defensive effort then replaced the attacking mindedness, finally with 15 minutes left Talbott made it a hattrick with a tidier repeat of the first close range goal.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 98% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | | 74% | 8.5 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 84% | 7.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Jim Bowman | sub 75 | 91% | 7.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 89% | 6.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 79% | 7.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Baba Ginoosh | sub 85 | 80% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Andy Stewart | sub 68 | 89% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Teron Fong | off 68 | 84% | 7.2 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Talbott | sub 75 | 79% | 9.6 | 3 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Ben Smith | | 80% | 8.0 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Johannes Netto | on 68 | 96% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | John Harkness | on 75 | 93% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Richard Hull | on 85 | 88% | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn James | on 75 | 100% | 6.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Nathan Walker | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Chris Warrington | on 45 | 85% | 7.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Saturday the 31st of December National Divison 1- RIVAL MATCH!
Rivals Grimsby Borough head into this fixture four points ahead in the league. Fresh off a 1-0 win over Cleethorpes the Wilderness Boys are down just John Rowan and Nathon Emson. Captain Andy Taylor leads a strong consistent side out as they visit St Andrews ground to take on resurgent Immingham. This rivals match can bring the league lead down to just one point and put Immingham in a great position to make a final surge to be champions with just 5 games left. Bottesford town look to be the only other team in contention sitting six points off the top before kickoff.
Immingham are to be missing only first team regulars David Ginsberg and Jake Stothard as well as up and coming youth player Terrance Fong.
Immingham Town 1 – 0 Grimsby Borough
Attendance: 206
In a hard fought rival encounter Immingham barely came out on top. Pretty much every match stat was split down the middle, it took stroke of luck for substitute Martyn James to find himself in space in they dying minutes of the match after Harkness won the ball from a overstretched Grimsby Borough on a last ditch counter attack. Onside and with just a man and the keeper to beat James kept his cool and hit a clean placed shot to score the winner on 90+1 minutes. As the team goes from strength to strength each player is now being called on as the manger starts to realise a mix of narrow and wide play will be required to close out both the league and the cups. Lofted high after the match, young Martyn James seemed overwhelmed by his contribution.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 97% | 6.5 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | sub 72 | 65% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 74% | 7.3 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 70% | 8.1 | | MoM, 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 84% | 6.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 68% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Baba Ginoosh | sub 67 | 76% | 6.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Johannes Netto | | 65% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Andy Stewart | sub 67 | 85% | 6.0 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Talbott | inj 63 | 64% | 6.5 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Ben Smith | | 73% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Nathan Walker | on 72 | 100% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Jim Bowman | on 67 | 97% | 6.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Richard Hull | on 67 | 85% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn James | on 63 | 96% | 7.3 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Chris Warrington | on 45 | 83% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
One major fact is that this was the penultimate league home game of the season, only Easington stand between them and a clean home record in the completion. Additionally the only home loss of the year so far has been 1-2 to Hull FC in the Humber cup. If the FA Cup and FA Trophy go well it may stay that way!
The players now head off to celebrate the new year and go on a month break from league fixtures. In the mean time they will play their first round in this years FA Cup against Hodgesons FC in a week, follow that with the Humber Cup Semi final and finish up the month with the FA cup first round. The results from these fixtures can decide if the clubs get an easy run of infrequent fixtures for the next four months or if they continue to play more than a game every 7-10 days.

Continue their dry run this month with another loss to Grimsby Borough and follow it up with a draw at Appleby Frodingham. Their last win came back at the end of November. They enter the winter break 7 points off top spot and only a last ditch resurgence can retain a playoff place
Grimsby Borough
Sneak a win down the seafront at Cleethorpes before loosing to rivals Immingham Town to see their league lead cut to 1 point.

So guys what do you think of the progress so far? Not long to go now! The season is reaching its peak in Feb and March with all these knock-out games going on the pressure is really piling on the players! Let us know what you think of the last few matches and soon we shall see where it goes! I do belive that you guys participating, posting and making comments really make this signup what it is so get your thoughts heard!
The winner vs Grimsby.Going great nine-iron and looking forward to seeing how the season will end.
The season is really taking shape now at the turn of the year. The interview idea was great. Enjoyed the read ups. I think a few more screenie's would make the whole sign up a little more of interest however. Another element to help people get a real feel for the league and its environment. May I suggest a variety of screenie's with the league and squads area's of interest.
Bit of news on the squad too perhaps. Anyone making noises about moving on to bigger things? Responding to other managers comments etc? Has the Immingham manager also had his eye on a few squad additions that may threaten the status of a squad member at Immingham. Also, have any established players gone to clubs in the top tier of Lincs and Humber? Anyone making the headlines?
Cheers
Well as its the new year break it sounds a good time to do a roundup of those things! I was really just waiting for people to ask rather than spend hours posting up random information. Now I know people are interested I think this is the right time, the season is well established and there is plenty of news on transfers etc. I will do a nice update tonight on that. Keep pitching in people, the more I know you are enjoying this the more I want to post, you give me the drive to keep this going.
I look forward to it, as im sure many others will. Just out of interest, have you noticed any ex English Prem journeymen or anyone relatively high profile playing in the top tier. Either on free's or whatever. It would be good also to see the match player ratings at full time in the Hull City cup games. ( :
With the Humber Cup rules none of the big names played. I have not been putting in the opposition ratings because we have not played any players of note yet except for the rival game against Grimsby Borough. I expect with the lack of any player restrictions in the FA cup and the FA Trophy we shall play much more "star" players. I will then post up the opposition ratings too.
I have a host of info updates coming, just preparing them now. They will show whats going on in and around the other divisons.
Winter Break League Overview
Conoco Premier League Rules: 36 games, Max 9 FGN in match squad
Two thirds of the way through the season Scunthorpe are surprise leaders, Hull are hot on their heels with Grimsby overachieving in third place. Lincoln are fairing worse than expected languishing in 5th. THe fight for survival was always expected to be a close contest, Grantham are leading the way 8 points clear of the drop zone with Stamford all but relegated.Code:| Pos | Inf | Team | | Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | For | Ag | G.D. | Pts | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1st | | Scunthorpe | | 22 | 18 | 1 | 3 | 51 | 15 | +36 | 55 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2nd | | Hull | | 22 | 16 | 3 | 3 | 48 | 10 | +38 | 51 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3rd | | Grimsby | | 22 | 14 | 2 | 6 | 37 | 20 | +17 | 44 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4th | | Boston Utd | | 22 | 13 | 3 | 6 | 31 | 27 | +4 | 42 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5th | | Lincoln | | 22 | 11 | 4 | 7 | 33 | 22 | +11 | 37 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6th | | Gainsborough | | 22 | 10 | 5 | 7 | 27 | 29 | -2 | 35 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7th | | Grantham | | 22 | 5 | 3 | 14 | 15 | 32 | -17 | 18 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8th | | Spalding | | 22 | 3 | 5 | 14 | 17 | 40 | -23 | 14 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9th | | North Ferriby | | 21 | 2 | 4 | 15 | 9 | 35 | -26 | 10 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10th | | Stamford | | 21 | 0 | 4 | 17 | 11 | 49 | -38 | 4 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Young's Championship Rules: Max 5 FGN in match squad, 22 games, 1st- Automatic Promotion, 2nd to 5th Playoffs
The championship is panning out as expected apart from Goole's decisive lead. Things are a little tight at the bottom with just four teams realistically in the mix. Lincoln Moorlands are on the borderline for becoming involved in the fight as they continue to vastly underachieve, they are however just four points off a playoff spot. Lincoln United currently occupy the last playoff spot but on goal difference only, Boston Town and Deeping Rangers trail by only one goal and one point respectivly and a tight run to the finish is expected.Code:| Pos | Inf | Team | | Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | For | Ag | G.D. | Pts | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1st | | Goole | | 17 | 12 | 3 | 2 | 19 | 8 | +11 | 39 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2nd | | Hall Road Rangers | | 17 | 8 | 4 | 5 | 25 | 15 | +10 | 28 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3rd | | Brigg | | 17 | 8 | 4 | 5 | 18 | 14 | +4 | 28 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4th | | Winterton | | 17 | 6 | 7 | 4 | 22 | 18 | +4 | 25 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5th | | Lincoln Utd | | 17 | 5 | 10 | 2 | 21 | 17 | +4 | 25 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6th | | Boston Town | | 17 | 6 | 7 | 4 | 20 | 17 | +3 | 25 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7th | | Deeping Rangers | | 17 | 6 | 6 | 5 | 20 | 17 | +3 | 24 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8th | | Lincoln Moorlands | | 17 | 6 | 3 | 8 | 16 | 18 | -2 | 21 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9th | | Sleaford | | 17 | 5 | 5 | 7 | 19 | 19 | 0 | 20 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10th | | Holbeach | | 17 | 3 | 7 | 7 | 11 | 20 | -9 | 16 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11th | | Barton Town OB | | 17 | 4 | 1 | 12 | 10 | 21 | -11 | 13 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12th | | Blackstones | | 17 | 2 | 5 | 10 | 11 | 28 | -17 | 11 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

OK A full update of the nation pretty much done. If anyone has any specific requests I can put them up too. I intend to pretty much repeat the above at the end of the season so you can get a good comparison and see the story of other leagues unfold too.
Next up late tonight will be the first two of the three cup matches played in January.
7th best avg rating in the league! Great stuff Harkness! Interesting to see another Harkness in the Lincs u21 squad :-)
Nice one. Hopefully we'l manage to keep the squad intact for the 2nd half of the season. Our valuation does worry me though. It wont take a hefty bid to prize most away. Good to see Steeper getting his feet in alot. ( :
I covered everything you wanted eh? As for the valuation, I doubt it will be like that for long, anyway the clubs in this country dont really have the cash to spend in the first season. The second season changes things a little but I bet the players will stick out their contracts at the club till at least the end of the season.
Great reports and am very pleased with how Ben Smith is doing but i really do think it would have been better if all the ages were the same. Maybe i am being biased as i am the oldest (i think anyways) but with everyone starting at say 17/18 it would have been very interesting to see how everyone grew together.
I am glad you liked the updates, was fun to do too!
As for the ages thing, this signup is more about a story and the age variation has been essential to making it interesting. I prefer to run my signups this way as I see there are plenty enough signups where the creator sets lots of the parameters and I prefer to make mine driven more by the variations between the players that the users create. I guess this is more of a "traditional" style signup that used to run on here about 6 years ago when I last did one. I also inteded to only run this for one season which I stated at the start, if it goes well I might do two but this not a career experiment but more of a short story.

Saturday the 7th of January FA Cup Round 2
The first match of the new year is at Beverley based National Division 2 amateur side Hodgsons FC. The FA cup is a straight knockout competition with no squad rules, firstly three qualifying rounds take place where the regional division sides battle it out to take on national divison 2 sides in the first round. 4-8 teams progress at each stage until the 2nd round proper where the National League 1 sides join in, the Championship and Premier Division sides join later on.
Hodgsons FC 1 – 3 Immingham Town
Attendance: 23
Goals first from Talbott and then from Fong accompanied by an own goal from Hodgsons FC meant Immingham won once again on the north bank of the Humber in a cup match. Ginsberg and Stothard are both back in training meaning Immingham once again have a full squad to choose from in the coming two cup matches.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 99% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Jim Bowman | | 73% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 76% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 83% | 6.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Chris Warrington | | 76% | 7.6 | | MoM, 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 74% | 7.0 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Andy Stewart | sub 56 | 91% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 45 | 87% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Teron Fong | | 73% | 7.4 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Talbott | sub 60 | 74% | 7.5 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Ben Smith | | 76% | 6.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Richard Hull | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Baba Ginoosh | on 45 | 88% | 6.8 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn James | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Nathan Walker | on 60 | 90% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Johannes Netto | on 56 | 92% | 6.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Sunday the 8th of January

Wednesday the 11th of December Humber Cup Semi Final
The competition changes to a straight knockout for the semi finals as well as moving to neutral venues, this time is Sincil Bank.
Immingham 6 – 2 Stamford
Attendance: 1010
A rapturous applause rings round the stadium as Immingham confirm their place in the Humber Cup final. It all began with Netto scoring on 17 minutes and Ben Smith doubling the score on 25 minutes. Midfielder Andy Steward then tucked away from close range with Han Sol Geni making it 4 after the break. Smith and Stewart added two more for their second each but Stamford finished the game on a high with two goals in the last 15 minutes. With his goal Netto becomes the teams youngest scorer.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 100% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | | 80% | 7.3 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | sub 63 | 87% | 8.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 85% | 7.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Chris Warrington | | 79% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | | 77% | 7.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 78% | 6.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Andy Stewart | | 81% | 9.1 | 2 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Johannes Netto | sub 68 | 89% | 9.0 | 1 | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 53 | 89% | 8.5 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Smith | | 76% | 9.5 | 2 | MoM, 2 x Assists | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Nathan Walker | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Jim Bowman | on 63 | 95% | 6.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Jake Stothard | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn James | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Richard Hull | on 53 | 90% | 6.2 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Steve Duffy | on 68 | 96% | 6.3 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Thursday the 12th of January
Immingham learn they are to face Premier Division mid tablers Grantham in the final on the 28th of January, players such as ex Grimsby youth Joe Lamplough await.
Sunday the 15th of January FA Trophy Round 1
The FA Trophy is a competition played between the Championship and National Divison 1 sides. Just like the FA Cup it does not have any squad restrictions.
Immingham Town 2 - 0 Winterton Rangers
Attendance: 138
Winterton put out a weakend team and underestimate the strength of Immingham Town, two first half goals 7 minutes apart from Ben Smith means Immingham progress into the 2nd round of the FA Trophy.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 99% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | | 72% | 7.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 79% | 7.3 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 80% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Chris Warrington | | 70% | 7.3 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | | 68% | 7.1 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 75% | 6.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Andy Stewart | | 72% | 8.2 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Johannes Netto | | 75% | 6.7 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Han Sol Geni | sub 72 | 86% | 7.9 | | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Ben Smith | sub 90 | 72% | 8.8 | 2 | MoM | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Luke Doyle | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Nathan Walker | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Jim Bowman | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Jake Stothard | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Ben Talbott | on 90 | 100% | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Richard Hull | on 72 | 94% | 6.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
In a surprising turn of events Kevin O'Harper declines a contract from Lincoln City to remain at Immingham Town. He cites the poor offer from Lincoln as the main reason to stay.
After the game Immingham are told they will play fellow National League 1 side Hessle Rangers for a place in the 3rd round.
The next game is the Humber Cup final before Immingham return to alternating between league and cup fixtures.

Only making the bench now![]()
Disappointed not to get much playing time now, but great updates mate![]()
Sorry about my lack of activity, will be more active from Friday/Saturday.
I think you are being eased back into the squad after your injury. I bet you will be first pick over Fong very soon, maybe even for the Humber Cup final! Fong has done well in your place bagging a couple of goals.
I agree, maybe also the team reputations. Not a huge issue, I am sure later rounds will be more interesting ties! Its more balanced in the proper database than the database used for this signup.
You had a good run of apps in the league when players were out for injury which was good. I hope you are rotated in as the season draws to a close.
Don't worry, its been a good weekend of updates, interviews, winter break summary and three classic cup games! Nevo has been key to them all!
I will be reviewing all recent goals and comparing them against the top goals list. I did not get a chance to do that last night but I will before I play the Humber Cup final. You might see a few new 'players goal of the season' candidates, currently its between Ginsberg and Stothard in my mind but a final vote will seal it at the end of the season (need to start thinking on how I am going to do that!)
I am really looking forward to the Humber Cup Final, should be a cracking game against Grantham. I think Immingham should win it and take a nice trophy home, OK its not the most prestigious but its the first one available to win for teams in the nation, its reputation does pale somewhat in comparison to the FA Cup and even the FA Trophy.
Some interesting stats...

Well done guys, this is showing not just you are reading but others are interested in your plight too! You seem to have chosen a group of players who have become quite a point of interest in their plight for promotion and cup glory!
I frequently see 5-10 guests viewing this thread as well as 1-3 signupees. I would love to hear from more followers who do not have players in this to see what they think or want to see. I am always open to requests and suggestions and I will do my best to give you the information you want!
Nice work here, Warrington getting into sublime form recently. WE can certainly get promoted, hope we win the humber cup as well.
Four goals added to the top goal list, most from recent cup games.
Decent goals them like love to know what def was doing for Geni's first goal![]()
One point behind, 5 games left, so should be playoffs at worst. Not bad for a team who was struggling back in 5th position not so long ago.
The one against North Ferriby? The defender just stopped! Was a lovely counter attack though. For the newspaper did you like the headline "Ferry Crashes into Docks"? I thought it was rather clever lol
I am just a bit different in many waysI do understand there are benefits to having players all the same age, its just not an idea I am interested in doing as I think I write a better story this way round... Well I think I am doing an OK job

Isnt Richard Hull a 2 tonne giant?? How is he ever a left winger, hahaha.
COME ON YOU DOCKERS!!!!
Granthams biggest weakness is their young inexperienced goalkeeper. Immingham's strength is their defence, I doubt Grantham can score more than two goals (if that) so it really depends on Grantham's defence stopping our strikers how many Immingham score past the weak keeper!
This could be quite a thrilling game!
No Stothard![]()
Had a busy day at work an been playin other games tonight (check youtube channel). Will post up another good weekend of progress this weekend I expect. I wanted to do other things this weeek, play other games etc and give you guys a chance to catch up!
I also needed a little break from this, been at it gung ho. Im absolutely loving it and there isn't long to go so don't worry, I am not giving upI intend to see this through to the end of this season as planned!

Saturday the 28th of January 2013 Humber Cup Final, Sincil Bank, Lincoln
10.00am
I struggled to sleep last night, I was surprised by the team sheet, with Geni out suspended the squad looked a little different to previous games, I had expected the manager to revert to a narrow formation but he is placing his trust in the untested Richard Hull.
Granthams squad looks strong, they are only missing three of their first team players because of the competition match day squad rules. Their keeper is the weakest point. 15 year old Alex Young is in for experienced 25 year old keeper Rob Murray due to fitness issues. Alex has a record of conceding more than 3 goals a game and is rated poorly compared to his much older team mate. If Immingham can undermine his condfidence the cup can be theirs! Grantham's outfield team looks dangerous but they are prone to indifferent form and when compared to Immingham they look the weaker side, despite being two leagues above the Dockers.
1.00pm
Arriving at the stadium was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The whole city of Lincoln was buzzing with a party atmosphere, banners everywhere, flags waving, fans enjoying themselves to the maximum. The papers were full of team news and giant killing talk. The nature of the Humber Cup means anyone can win it from any of the divisions involved. It is a showcase of the nations home born talent and the nation is going crazy for it. So far big teams had crashed out in the group stage, village teams have won over premiership youth academy sides and people of all ages have experienced every emotion going in this competition.
My press pass gets me into the back rooms, the atmosphere is thick and heavy, a fog of expectation hangs in the air making breathing difficult. My chest is tight, my blood is pumping, I have never felt anything like this before in my life!
3.00pm- Match
Grantham 1 – 5 Immingham Town
Attendance: 2,886
Grantham Town
Grantham massively underperformed here, the situation got the better of them and they struggled to put up a fight. The players can only blame themselves and the ratings speak for themselves. I suspect the clubs resident mental game experts will be pouring over this performance to see where it all went wrong. Grantham crumbled like a poorly built wall, they failed to win the ball, keep the ball and string together any meaningful passage of play, passing in the defence was the worst with just a 20& completion rate.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Alex Young | | 97% | 6.1 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | Miles Chamberlain | | 77% | 6.3 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Matthew Bird | | 72% | 4.2 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | Joe Lamplough (c) | | 74% | 6.4 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Chris Hyam | sub 45 | 78% | 6.0 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Scott Musgrove | | 67% | 6.7 | 1 | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Liam Bull | | 72% | 4.9 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Jamie McGhee | | 76% | 6.5 | | 1 x Assist | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Alan Lamb | sub 45 | 80% | 6.6 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Gavin Knight | | 74% | 6.6 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Sean Cann | sub 67 | 60% | 5.7 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Rob Murray | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Richard Bolder | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Billy Williamson | on 45 | 71% | 5.9 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | John Smith | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Martyn Warrington | on 67 | 87% | 6.5 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Mark Grimes | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Steve Melton | on 45 | 87% | 5.9 | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Immingham Town
Immingham put in the performance of the season, each player stepped up and performed to the best of their ability, Grantham underestimated the squad right from kickoff and Imminghams fighting spirit won out on the day. The stats also lean heavily in their favour, completing between 70 and 80% of their tackles and headers.Code:| No. | S | Name | Inf. | Con | Rat | Gls | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1 | | Mike Nevo | | 99% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2 | | Martin Steeper | | 71% | 7.4 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4 | | Leo Curtis (c) | | 85% | 6.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5 | | John Harkness | | 79% | 7.6 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3 | | Chris Warrington | inj 67 | 73% | 8.8 | | 2 x Assists | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6 | | David Ginsberg | sub 61 | 89% | 6.9 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9 | | Kevin O'Harper | | 73% | 9.0 | | MoM, 2 x Assists | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7 | | Andy Stewart | sub 54 | 88% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8 | | Johannes Netto | | 75% | 8.2 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 11 | | Richard Hull | inj 23 | 83% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10 | | Ben Smith | inj 90 | 69% | 8.5 | 1 | 1 x Assist | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 12 | | Nathan Walker | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 14 | | Jim Bowman | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 15 | | Steve Duffy | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 16 | | Baba Ginoosh | on 61 | 94% | 6.8 | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 17 | | Teron Fong | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 18 | | Jake Stothard | on 23 | 79% | 7.9 | 1 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 19 | | Ben Talbott | on 54 | 95% | 8.6 | 2 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
Firstly Young winger Johannes Netto got Immingham Town Football Club off to a flyer by scoring a tidy finish on 5 minutes. An error from Grantham Town's Matthew Bird allowed young midfielder Jake Stothard to score a well timed finish from close range. Smith scored with a good header from just inside the six-yard box in the 61st minute to extend the lead further.
Musgrove scored from the penalty spot after Curtis gave away a penalty. Young striker Ben Talbott then added to the lead with an effort from the edge of the area on 82 minutes.
There were no prizes for guessing who completed the rout on 88 minutes as that man Talbott popped up again with a simple finish from close in.
IMMINGHAM ARE THE HUMBER CUP CHAMPIONS!!!
