The Return of Martino Bazzoli: San Marino - The Ultimate Challenge!

First off: What am I doing and Why am I doing this??

I am going through all the hardest challenges this game has too offer:

  • Take a team from San Marino to win the European Champions Cup
  • Use Youth Only, no signing ANY players
  • Take the National Team to the European Championships
  • Take the National Team to the World Cup
  • Win the World Cup & European Chamiponships

And why am I doing this?

It's the hardest challenge in Football Manager history, why wouldn't I want to do this?

Which team will I be?

I will manage Societa Sportiva San Giovanni.

Why San Giovanni?

San Giovanni are the ONLY Sammarinese team too have NEVER won any silverware!

Database Changes:

  • Added BurnCMX's San Marino League
  • Metallic Logos
  • Alternate Hair Pack
  • Added Transfer Embargo from 1st July 2011 - 31st December 2100 on Sammarinese Teams

I added the Transfer embargo rule on all Sammarinese clubs, meaning every club will essentially be using Youth Only and all the money received will be used on Youth & Training Facilities. Despite this I ran a couple of seasons as a test and found out that other clubs can bring in players on free transfers after the player has been released from a club.

It is back, the greatest comeback since Lazarus!

Yay, you're back!
We're not worthy, we're not worthy, we're not worthy.
Good to see this back, hope your able to have even more success in San Marino.
My face lit up when I saw this in the forum!

So much anticipation

Really looking forward to seeing this again I've missed your old challenge so much!
Caught on at the end of your last save, can't wait to see how this unfolds again

WOW everyone, thanks for the renewed interest! I've just finished my last exam so now I've got nothing to do for a whole month except playing Football Manager!

And as such I've already reached the Youth Candidate day:

1st April 2012 - Youth Candidate Day

I was really hoping for some defenders, but the quality was quite poor and our back 5 at the moment are pretty awful which sort of explains how we're 8th out of 8 in the league with 16 points and out of the Cup at the Group Stages..

I apologize if the screenshots are too big, I decided to play FM to fit my computer screen instead of shrinking it down to the minimum.

Domestic Fixtures

Back down to earth with a bang for this challenge finishing dead last, we took 10 games to get a win and only had 2 points for half a season.

Taca Titano - Couldn't get out of the Group but atleast we only lost once.

Squad - Our squad has a couple of decent players but half the squad are rated as 1/2* players.

Finances - A decent amount of money sees us £12,875 in the black.

Youth Players:

Marcos Gomez (YP1a) - 6 Under 18's appearances, hopefully he'll get 1st team football next season.

Oh dear, not quite your usual strong progress yet.
Nowhere to go but up though!
Unlucky. I'm sure next season will be an improvement!
At least the potential of your youth intake is great!
Unlucky with this season but the only way is up now!

Maybe we still can go down, at the start of February now and we've only won 3 competitive games all season and 2 of those were in the cup! we've also only drawn one so it's more bad news. I've tried changing tactics but nothing is working!

Cassalini looks alright, Bruno rather less so.

Bruno has already been rated as twice the player of the next best center midfielder which is rather worrying!

Good intake again, small margins at this level though, its hard to tell the difference sometimes!

It's very hard with everyone being as bad as each other which is why I leave it to the assistant, on the plus side the day before the Youth Intake I managed to upgrade our Junior Coaching to Adequate.

Domestic Fixtures

Another woeful year sees us finishing with 8 LESS points than last year getting 12 points from 18 games, surely the only way is up now?

Taca Titano - Again only 1 win sees us out at the Group stage again.

Squad - Our squad is still very poor but without our main man Emanuele Chiaravalloti scoring 11 goals in 21 appearances we would have been well stuffed in every game.

Finances - We're still in the black, and have doubled the amount of money in the finances.

Youth Players:

Marcos Gomes (YP1a) - I gave him a couple of appearances, his training stalled so I decided to put him back in the Under 18's making 11 appearances.

Andrea Casalini (YP2a) - I would say he is the best of the youth, already making 2 first team appearances.

Michele Bruno (YP2b) - Also made his first team debut and managed to get an assist.

He reminds me of Raoul Belmonte, my 2nd Youth product from my last San Marino save who ended up becoming the San Marino assistant manager after he retired. Massimiliano seems pretty good all-round even thought he is very short.

Also something I've noticed is that Andrea Casalini (YP2a) is still 14 which means that he came through the Youth System aged 13 but the game has got 14 down as the lowest age!
