transfer listing players and playing coumter attack

Do I actually NEED to transfer list players if I offer them to clubs? Offering them doesn't appear to automatically list them like it would in the pc version.

Also can someone give me a Janet & john outline of how to counter attack? Loved watching the croats doing that very well tho sadly not well enough last night and wondered, other than a pact team, what I need to be doing regarding instructions and formation to be able to successfully play this way. Have already ticked counter in tactics and set passing to direct but would this also necesitate putting men behind the ball etc?
