    Default SMSL's Plug n Play Championship - FM 2012

We all know that there are no super plug n play tactics but there are plug n play tactics. The question is...

    Just how good are they?

The idea of this competition is to provide a link to your plug n play tactic which I will then download and use with my chosen side for this FM 2012 challenge. I will then go on "holiday mode" with the instruction to the AssMan that he must use this tactic.

There will be 3 Championships up for grabs.

There will be the "tactics creator" championship. Where you will you use "create a tactic" mode to make your tactic. So all your players must use predefined player roles and duties.

The 2nd championship is for "classical tactics". Done in the traditional mode with arrows etc...

The 3rd championship is for the overall title.

Now the way to win this title is by the chosen side amassing league points, GD, etc. Although I shall also note cup performances.

I have decided that anyone can come up with a tactic for the likes of Barcelona and other big clubs so I have gone for a small club just promoted into a bottom division in a small country. The club is...

I will update the championships as often as I can which should be pretty regular as the League should fly by at a quick rate.

I will also try the tactics on a 1st come 1st serve basis so if I accidentally miss yours out don't hesitate to let me know in this thread.

Note this team will struggle. Just keeping them up will be a seriously good achievement. You are also permitted to enter the Championship as many times as you like as long as it is YOUR tactic. Please don't forward someone else's tactic(s) as they may not wish to enter.

I decided to post here but I could just have easily posted in the Tactics section.

Please state if your tactic is a "Creator" tactic or a "Classic" tactic.

    Good luck...

Type "upload a file" on google and then choose a website to upload the tactic to. Then just provide a link for me to download and enter it.

So the tactics creator one cannot have any changes to their predefined roles?

EDIT: And are you not repeating the test at all?

Then it becomes a more complicated "classic" tactic.

So how did the first tactic perform?

    And the Squad?

So as you can see, already its a very tough target just to survive.

    Code:
POS TACTIC POS PLD WON DRW LST FOR AGA GDF PTS FAC LGC INT MUL
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    1ST ri916 - 442 DM 15th 30 4 6 20 26 66 -40 18 2R 3R 1R QF

if that fails I already have an idea for my next tactic. It's something like a 8-2-0

So next up is ri916's 2nd attempt...

The weird thing this time around is more points but a worst final position, finishing last!

    Here's the squad stats...

And now the overall current standings...

    Code:
POS TACTIC POS PLD WON DRW LST FOR AGA GDF PTS FAC LGC INT MUL TYPE
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my tweak on FuSStidious v3 which is actually a well know tweak by cragswfc, the striker tweak. Been working a treat for me.

    Time for Elnaith's 5-3-2...

Well I'm afraid it's the worst to date. Relegated in 15th place.

    The squad's performance...

So far no one has yet avoided relegation in the PnP Championship...

    Code:

So onto stothy's 442 classic tactic. It earned 3rd out of the 4 tactics so far but had an awful time in the cups winning just one game.

    And how the squad finished...

    Code:
POS TACTIC POS PLD WON DRW LST FOR AGA GDF PTS FAC LGC INT MUL TYPE
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1st ri916 - 4132 16th 30 6 7 17 23 54 -31 25 4R 2R 1R QF Creator

Now for MadDog's 442. Sorry to say that relegation was still not avoided. Only a paultry 13 points were achieved from the 30 league games with the club finishing 15th.

    And the season's squad stats...

So MadDog's tactic takes it place at the foot of our championship.

    Code:
POS TACTIC POS PLD WON DRW LST FOR AGA GDF PTS FAC LGC INT MUL TYPE

So onto MadDog's 2nd tactic, a 5221. In a word disastrous mate. I did say "famous last words". A massive 10 points and bottom of the entire league.

Sounds good. Had a lot of success in my Minsk save with a 4132 formation. There were a few tweaks so I have removed them and see how it goes now. This is a creator tactic: 4-1-3-2 TargetMan

There are some tweaks in the team settings as the opening post just refers to having no changes in players settings. If not permitted please just untick them.

Next up ri916's latest attempt to better his lead with a 4231 formation. It broke a lot of records but sadly all the wrong ones. NO WINS, and just FIVE points. His only cup win was on penalties after a 0-0. Oh well nack to the drawing board mate.

4-4-2 Tight Counter - Creator tactic.

That's a dropbox link, so you should be able to grab it by just right clicking and saving the target.

I think the hardest part is finding one of the "create a tactic" formations that will fit the players already at the club well. I'm sticking with this submission for now, but for future reference: Do we have to purely use the tactic creator, or is it still considered a "creator tactic" as long as you don't use the option to "convert to classic" and start poking around?

Next is jimbowmanuk's Ecosse tactic. Basically a sweeper 122212 formation LoL. Couldn't possibly be any worse could it? Could it avoid relegation? The answers are no and er... no! Still EVERY tactic has seen this club relegated. The cup results were also poor. However, as a plug n play tactic it is good enough go into third place in our merit table.

    And the squad stats...

Well, well, well the next tactic has set a new record for right reasons. ShyBaldBuddhist's 4-1-3-2 Targetman has become the 1st tactic to avoid relegation. Not only that but he takes the lead on our merit table.

The squad actually has a striker with his goals tally in double figures!

Haha, well I had a bit of success with them on a few saves, but generally it's based on the players your using, rather than the tactic. Although that's less of the case with some tactics like Mr.Hough's.

Biscotti's 442 tight counter is next on our hit list. The bad news was once again relegation but surprisingly this tactic takes the lead thanks to the 30 points amassed.

You might be surprised how badly some of those tactics in the forum would do here.

Yeah, most of those tactics rely on players not sucking to some degree. We need tactics that are more like we used in elementary school "Get the ball to Steve and hope he scores and try not to hurt anyone or yourself in the process".

Next up is 18Rabbit's 424 or if you prefer a 442 with wingers. After the last couple of tactics it was time to hit the bottom bits of the barrell again. 8th in overall standing and also lost every single cup game.

Only one to avoid relegation so far \0/

The lack of a DM and too many attacking midfielders is a slight problem for most formations I use. Will try and develop something new and try again.

True but the idea is to find the best plug n play tactic. Not necessarily trying to find the best one for THIS team. The fact that a 4132 leads the way with the team not having a DM proves that somewhere there should be even better plug n play tactics out there that ANY side can use succesfully.

The moment I spotted a tactic called dominator used by someone called Tactic Master and used with Man Utd, I expected a poor tactic but would only the 2nd classic style tactic from Tactic Master impress us? Er... NO!!!

10th position in our rankings and conceeded a massive 88 goals!!!

So what about Tactic Master's "Lower League Goals" creator tactic? Well a record number of league goals (43) however, the tactic struggled to keep the opposition out. It wasn't a bad attempt though. The tactic is our 4th best but still relegation could not be avoided.

Decided I would try again with the 4132 formation but this time it's the one I had success with. There are a few tweaks to players duties and hopefully we can take the lead again with this one.

Thanks for putting my tactics through their paces I expected nothing less from the first as it was used with Man Utd, but the 2nd one I used with Halifax first off, then tweaked it and used with a few different clubs and it did well. I'm glad it did well in terms of the tactics table

I think I have a few others lying about, so i'll upload those soon.

I'll enter that one, just curious as to how it would do.

Very happy with my performance there may not have survived, but seeing as I sit top of the table you have to assume that it's due to the other teams' performances rather than ours.

So onto 18Rabbit's second tactic. His 424 classic is actually still a creator tactic LoL. However, it has done much better than the last tactic amassing 24 points but still, like so many before, relegated.

I'll give this another go, this time with a classic tactic called Aeroplane. It is essentially a 3-6-1 but it looks like an aeroplane

So onto the next tactic as posted on post #59

The second attempt from ShyBaldBuddhist using his 4132 minsk formation. Again this is a creator tactic however he'll be disappointed to learn that it only acquired 11 points, last place and relegation. Better luck next time.

The Squad. Unusually the two strikers were scoring all the goals and both ended up in double figures.

From post #60 comes Fyrros' 451 counter. Not a bad tally of 21 points which is good enough for 6th place.

Next up from post #62 is Tactic Master's 3rd attempt, his 4222 Chester tactic. So how did it fair?

Dire! Just 14 points and losing all cup games.

It is a very tough challenge. Only one tactic out of the 17 tested so far has avoided relegation!

    Lower League Goals (Defensive) (Creator)

This tactic is very similar to the tactic that I have in 5th place. The difference is i've totally changed the defensive side of the tactic. Hopefully we can retain the goalscoring form which has seen my tactic out-score anybody else, but defend a lot better than we did.

Post #64 gives us Spamjabber's 4312. Sadly it also succombed to relegation, finishing 15th with 16 points. Nothing much to talk about cup wise either. Sits about midway in our league table.

After several attempts jimbowmanuk's aeroplane tactic #66 would not download. So it was onto Braumiller's 451 classic tactic. Sadly Braumiller's 1st attempt was not a very good one. Finishing last with just 11 points and losing every cup game.

Do tactics really matter that much in FM12???

Wow, I was not expecting miracles but also not a season from hell

I am currently using that tactic in my youth challenge career game and now I am wondering how much better I could be doing there!!!

    Great thread / challenge.

The difference from top to bottom of 25 points would suggest they do (alright, maybe 20, my last tactic was a bit of a pish-take )

From post #73 comes Tactic Master's Lower League Defensive tactic. Sadly it wasn't very good defensively. In fact it was shockingly bad with just SEVEN points and conceeding 85 goals!!!

Wow my latest tactic really sucked! It just goes to prove that going defensive can cost you more!

From post #74 comes 18Rabbit's 451 never fails tactic. I don't know about the rest of you but everytime I see a tactic with a name like "never fails" you just know it's going to fail BADLY!

Well low and behold I was right. Another shockingly bad tactic. Lost very cup game and got just SIX points!!!

    The dire squad!

From post #83 comes jimbowmanuk's aeroplane tactic, one of the few classic tactics used so far. Sadly it was once again last place and relegation with just 13 points.

From post #84 comes toonbalmy87's 424C tactic. It may have got him from the BSN to the PL however, perhaps he just bought quality players. 16th with just 10 points was managed although they did make the 4th Round of the intermediate cup.

Tactics are also far more effective when used by a human.

I haven't bought any players and i am in 2037 basically tactics only make a difference when you have players set up to play in certain formation

This is a very interesting challenge - here is quite an attacking 4-2-2-2 tactic (classic, not creator) which I have used with quite a bit of success, although it does tend to also leak quite a few goals - would be interested to see how it goes:

The difference is now completely changed defensive side. I hope we can keep the goal scoring form in which the result of the tactics beyond anyone else, but to defend much better than we do.
