SMSL's Plug n Play Championship - FM 2012

We all know that there are no super plug n play tactics but there are plug n play tactics. The question is...

Just how good are they?

The idea of this competition is to provide a link to your plug n play tactic which I will then download and use with my chosen side for this FM 2012 challenge. I will then go on "holiday mode" with the instruction to the AssMan that he must use this tactic.

There will be 3 Championships up for grabs.

There will be the "tactics creator" championship. Where you will you use "create a tactic" mode to make your tactic. So all your players must use predefined player roles and duties.

The 2nd championship is for "classical tactics". Done in the traditional mode with arrows etc...

The 3rd championship is for the overall title.

Now the way to win this title is by the chosen side amassing league points, GD, etc. Although I shall also note cup performances.

I have decided that anyone can come up with a tactic for the likes of Barcelona and other big clubs so I have gone for a small club just promoted into a bottom division in a small country. The club is...



I will update the championships as often as I can which should be pretty regular as the League should fly by at a quick rate.

I will also try the tactics on a 1st come 1st serve basis so if I accidentally miss yours out don't hesitate to let me know in this thread.

Note this team will struggle. Just keeping them up will be a seriously good achievement. You are also permitted to enter the Championship as many times as you like as long as it is YOUR tactic. Please don't forward someone else's tactic(s) as they may not wish to enter.

I decided to post here but I could just have easily posted in the Tactics section.

Sounds good. Had a lot of success in my Minsk save with a 4132 formation. There were a few tweaks so I have removed them and see how it goes now. This is a creator tactic: 4-1-3-2 TargetMan

There are some tweaks in the team settings as the opening post just refers to having no changes in players settings. If not permitted please just untick them.

Next up ri916's latest attempt to better his lead with a 4231 formation. It broke a lot of records but sadly all the wrong ones. NO WINS, and just FIVE points. His only cup win was on penalties after a 0-0. Oh well nack to the drawing board mate.

I think the hardest part is finding one of the "create a tactic" formations that will fit the players already at the club well. I'm sticking with this submission for now, but for future reference: Do we have to purely use the tactic creator, or is it still considered a "creator tactic" as long as you don't use the option to "convert to classic" and start poking around?

Next is jimbowmanuk's Ecosse tactic. Basically a sweeper 122212 formation LoL. Couldn't possibly be any worse could it? Could it avoid relegation? The answers are no and er... no! Still EVERY tactic has seen this club relegated. The cup results were also poor. However, as a plug n play tactic it is good enough go into third place in our merit table.

You might be surprised how badly some of those tactics in the forum would do here.

Yeah, most of those tactics rely on players not sucking to some degree. We need tactics that are more like we used in elementary school "Get the ball to Steve and hope he scores and try not to hurt anyone or yourself in the process".

True but the idea is to find the best plug n play tactic. Not necessarily trying to find the best one for THIS team. The fact that a 4132 leads the way with the team not having a DM proves that somewhere there should be even better plug n play tactics out there that ANY side can use succesfully.

The moment I spotted a tactic called dominator used by someone called Tactic Master and used with Man Utd, I expected a poor tactic but would only the 2nd classic style tactic from Tactic Master impress us? Er... NO!!!

10th position in our rankings and conceeded a massive 88 goals!!!

So what about Tactic Master's "Lower League Goals" creator tactic? Well a record number of league goals (43) however, the tactic struggled to keep the opposition out. It wasn't a bad attempt though. The tactic is our 4th best but still relegation could not be avoided.

Thanks for putting my tactics through their paces I expected nothing less from the first as it was used with Man Utd, but the 2nd one I used with Halifax first off, then tweaked it and used with a few different clubs and it did well. I'm glad it did well in terms of the tactics table

It is a very tough challenge. Only one tactic out of the 17 tested so far has avoided relegation!

I haven't bought any players and i am in 2037 basically tactics only make a difference when you have players set up to play in certain formation

This is a very interesting challenge - here is quite an attacking 4-2-2-2 tactic (classic, not creator) which I have used with quite a bit of success, although it does tend to also leak quite a few goals - would be interested to see how it goes:

The difference is now completely changed defensive side. I hope we can keep the goal scoring form in which the result of the tactics beyond anyone else, but to defend much better than we do.
