Sergio_Biscuits
I’ve frequented these forums for several years in both a lurking capacity and as a fully signed-up member. It was the CSE threads that first captured my attention, but month-by-month, this whole aspect of FM seems to be declining in popularity (Though of course the usual committed bunch like kipfizh, jimbowmanuk, LowerLeaguesRule, and others continue to produce CSE gold). I’ve therefore put a bit of thought into a new sign-up where a forum member attempts to create their own ‘Golden Generation’ for one of the ten smallest ranked nations in the world, in the hopes of developing it into a communal challenge, with a big leaderboard and plenty of tricky decisions for the user to make. This will have to wait for FM13, but in the meantime I want to give the sign-up a practice run on FM11. I am therefore asking for an initial three forum members to help with this trial. For the time being, all I need for you is for you to pick a team from the following, and to ensure I’ve got your full attention and know that you have an eye for detail, please state your favourite-ever Eastern European footballer. I would prefer it if everyone picked a different team, for maximum variety. FM11: Lowest ranked nations (July 2010) São Tomé and Príncipe San Marino - Reserved for jimbowmanuk Papua New Guinea Montserrat Anguilla American Samoa - duffy89 Andorra - Ben Evans US Virgin Islands - letissierandhenryaregreat East Timor Aruba – I have chosen this team, and for what it’s worth, I’d plump for Davor Suker... I’m holidaying my own Golden Generation at the moment, but will be back to post further instructions within the next week. Please note that this will be a prose-heavy sign-up, and you may have to wait before your own players receive the prolonged attention I envisage as I will be completing the project by working on one save at a time, starting with my own. For that reason this sign-up may be better suited to someone who spends a lot of time on these forums and will be patient. But hey, I’m not here to stop you if you aren’t! Sergio_Biscuits
CSE tip #1- if you want a response to your thread, don't illustrate it with a photo of one of the most loathed international sides of all time! Knew I should have chosen Croatia '98 instead.
glennuk
Haha, also it seems a bit confusing. I don't really know what you want us to do.

Sergio_Biscuits
I can add you to the reserve list, I've capped things at three because I'm unsure how long things will take. However, Liechtenstein are not one of the teams available- São Tomé and Príncipe San Marino Papua New Guinea Montserrat Anguilla East Timor are. I've probably got enough done to post 'the rules' tonight now, so keep 'em peeled.

Sergio_Biscuits
Are you ready? Then I'll begin... The premise of this sign-up is to create a band of five footballers from a minnow nation in the hope that they will develop into that country’s ‘Golden Generation’, with enough talent to carry the rest of the team to a World Cup tournament and possibly go even further. Picking a nation from the list above, you will create your talented youngsters using the following guidelines: 1. Your five players can be born at any point between 1 January 1994 - 31 December 1995, and can be assigned to any position and an additional position (e.g. DRC, AMC/ST). 2. You can choose whether four of your players are left or right-footed. You are allowed one player who can use both feet. 3. You can pick up to two preferred moves each for four of your players. 4. You have 270 CA points to distribute between four of your players. 5. You have 680 PA points to distribute between four of your players. 6. Three of these four players will have two chosen personality attributes at 20, and the fourth will have one chosen personality attribute at 19. 7. Player #1 will have five chosen playing/hidden attributes at 20. 8. Player #2 will have three chosen playing/hidden attributes at 20, and another at 19. 9. Player #3 will have two chosen playing/hidden attributes at 20. 10. Player #4 will have one chosen playing/hidden attribute at 20, and another at 19. 11. The fifth of your players will be a ‘wildcard’ entry. All you are able to pick is their name and date of birth. They will be given a completely random PA between 1-200, which will not be revealed until the player retires. All other fields relating to the player will be generated by the game. Each of the five players will be randomly allocated to a club within each playable nation, at any possible tier. I have also added a few extra nations for more variety. Your starlet might start his career at Ajax, he might start at the Metropolitan Police. To clarify what I’m looking for in the event of any confusion, I will provide the details of my Aruban Golden Generation: Player #1: Carles De Zorm, AMC/ST, born 10/11/1994, both feet CA/PA: 100/200 Two personality attributes at 20: Ambition, Coping with pressure Five playing/mental attributes at 20: Influence, Long shots, Finishing, Dribbling, Stamina PPMS: Shoots from distance, Runs through centre Player #2: Marti Sek, M/AML, born 12/04/1995, left footed CA/PA: 70/170 Two personality attributes at 20: Adaptability, Coping with pressure Three playing/mental attributes at 20, one at 19: Pace, Crossing, Important matches, Acceleration PPMS: Cuts inside, Runs down left Player #3: Ramzi Heernden, DC/R, born 09/02/1994, right footed CA/PA: 50/180 Two personality attributes at 20: Temperament, Coping with pressure Two playing/mental attributes at 20: Tackling, Heading PPMS: Stops play, Tries killer balls Player #4: Rudi Sasko, GK, born 20/12/1995, right footed CA/PA: 50/130 One personality attribute at 19: Temperament One playing/mental attribute at 20, one at 19: Aerial ability, Handling PPMS: None chosen Player #5: Rylands Johnson, born 4/1/1994

Sergio_Biscuits
Cheers, I see there's a vibrant South American culture developing in Andorra! I've holidayed my own save up to Summer 2016 so far, taking a while because of all the leagues I have loaded and my puny PC, but will probably start a new thread detailing the progess of the Aruban GG tomorrow. I will post the scoring system for this sign-up/challenge this evening. glennuk- I suspect four players will probably be my limit but will give you first option if things change. duffy89
Sergio, I'm going to be off the forums for a few days due to family needs, do you want to sub me out?
Sergio_Biscuits
Not at all. This is a long-term sign-up and a few days out will not matter. To reiterate, I will be running separate saves for each team. I am aware that someone could upload all the 'GG's at once but I like the idea of an on-going sign-up challenge for FM13. jimbowmanuk
What do you use to pick the random clubs for the players? Think I might run my players on FM12 to see how they pan out?
Sergio_Biscuits
I use an online random country generator, then a random number generator (for countries with loads of clubs I will first randomise the tier, for those with fewer clubs I'll just enter the number of clubs and pick the corresponding one). It's all very technical, though seems to favour lower rep. clubs if my trial is anything to go by!
Sergio_Biscuits
The five players that each of you have created will accrue points as they look to put their tiny nation on the world football map. Though Golden Generations are ultimately defined by their performance as a collective, there is scope for individual success at club level as well. The scoring system for each achievement they may make is as follows: Club competitions League or cup win: Points equal to competition reputation Leading role within league or cup win (e.g. keeps clean sheet in cup final, scores 15 league goals): Points double that of competition reputation World Club Championship/European Super Cup/Champions League/Copa Libertadores win: 15 points (points doubled if player has leading role) Europa League win: 10 points (points doubled if player has leading role) Asian/African Champions League/Copa Sudamericana: 8 points (points doubled if player has leading role) All other Continental club competitions: Points equal to competition reputation (points doubled if player has leading role) International matches International goal/clean sheet/assist/MoM award: 1 point Player plays in international win: 2 points Player plays in international draw: ½ point International competitions World Cup Qualification: 70 points Round of 16: 90 points Quarter finals: 100 points Semi finals: 120 points Final: 140 points Winners: 180 points European Championships Qualification: 40 points Quarter finals: 60 points Semi finals: 80 points Final: 100 points Winners: 120 points Asian Cup/African Cup of Nations Qualification: 10 points Quarter finals: 15 points Semi finals: 40 points Final: 50 points Winners: 80 points Gold Cup: Qualification: 5 points (plus 25 points if this is as winners of Caribbean Championships) Quarter finals: 15 points Semi finals: 30 points Final: 50 points Winners: 70 points OFC Nations Cup Qualification: 5 points Semi finals: 15 points Final: 20 points Winners: 40 points Confederations Cup Semi finals: 20 points Final: 30 points Winners: 50 points I will add other players as necessary (with a maximum of 70) to enable all the minnows to produce a full squad and appoint a reasonable manager. These players are exempt from the scoring system and will be randomly allocated PA between 30 and 55, and a club based in their own nation. All other details will be left blank to further randomise their quality.
