Big Fish in a Small Pond II

Okay fellas here we go. You have all been randomly assigned clubs in the 5th tier. Club reputations range from 50-300 so we really are starting at the bottom here. They are all 200 CA players, retired from international football and injury proneness has been set to 1 to enable as much football as possible. I have changed all the clubs to professional status too to try and help the progress. Here are the players and the leagues:

Fermanagh Division One

Arawn Moridin will be plying his trade at Churchtown. Media predict 4th for the coming season.
Herring-Herring Herring-Herring-Herring has joined the fantastically named Clabby Strollers. The bookies have them down for a 5th place finish but they should be competing this year.
Mike Litorus leads the line for Enniskillen Santos. Should do better than the 6th place they have been tipped for.
John Crane will be turning out for Enniskillen Town United. Only rated at finishing mid-table this year.
Lord Henrik Van Haarlink III is the creative force at title favourites Glebe United.
Messi Jr will be looking at scoring the goals that get Strathroy promoted. Media don't rate their chances and have them down for an 11th place finish.
Jake Stothard joins up with Tummery Athletic. Has a job on his hands as they are predicted to finish bottom.


Mid Ulster Division One

Harold Kumar will be an Ambassador for the foreseeable future. Hopefully they will be a lot higher than the 5th they are tipped for.
Jose Gainza will be running the midfield for title favourites Dungannon Rovers.
Luis Van Der Bulli, the self proclaimed best player in the world, will turn out for Dungannon Tigers. Only predicted for a 9th place finish by the media.
Alex Shaw is the main man at Hill Street. Believed to be challengers by the bookies who have them down for 2nd spot.
Vivian Zachariah will be turning out at Silverwood. The young squad are tipped for 3rd place.
Steven Kemp has a task to get St Mary's promoted. The club are tipped to finish bottom of the league.


Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Berko Ihejirika will be between the sticks for title favourites Ballymacash.
Gaston Martinez leads the line at Broomhill. Should be in contention, media say 4th place.
Omar Brown will be the main goal grabber at Hanover. The bookies say he has the firepower to get them into 2nd spot.
James Taylor has signed for Moneyslane. They are the bookies favourites for the drop but Taylor should be able to prevent them going down.
Sercan Cali has turned up at Richhill where they are expected to finish 5th.
Steve Duffy II joins Seagoe United as their main striker. Should have enough goals in him to do better than the 9th place they have been tiped for.


Amateur Division 1A

Mark Miwordz is looking to be the creative spark that gets Bryansburn up. Only predicted for 6th this season though.
Jimto Labowman faces the challenge of getting relegation tipped Dundonald promoted.
Geraint Alacarde arrives at East Belfast hoping to improve on the midtable finish the media predict.
Edoardo Lorenzo has signed for Grove United. History says he is good enough to do better than the 8th they are predicted to finish.
Long Tym Holywood will be turning out for Holywood. Should challenge amd the bookies say 4th.
Marky Mark will be defending from the front for title favourites Nortel.
Deep Throat goes back to school for University of Ulster Jordantown. Has a big task on his hands as they are tipped for relegation.

- 1-66 depending on league finish (66 points for topping the Premier division down to 1 point for bottom of tier 5)
- 10 points for cup win (Irish Cup and League cup only)
- 100 any European glory


Decided no deduction for relegation/promotion as made it quite complicated. Points are awarded for the current tier upwards. Anyone relegated to tier 6 will not any points until they make it back. Should all keep it quite simple.

Professionalism, Adaptability and Temprement are quite high. Being either footed lowers attributes quite alot and may make it look like he is worse than the others but can be an advantage.

I have Moridin's profile to the initial post dieu. I thought I would have been able to do it by editing a current player and moving him in FMRTE but couldn't figure it out. It has meant I have started again so people may notice some small differences to their players when the first update arrives. Game is running at the moment so hope to have an update up tonight but it may be quite late

2011-12 Mid-Season Update

Fermanagh 1st Division

Messi Jr has had a great start with Strathroy. he has already knocked in 53 goals to shoot them to the top of the table. The team struggle defensively though and have only managed 1 clean sheet. They will need to improve that to secure top spot.

Mike Litorus heads the chasing pack with Enniskillen Santos. Litrous may not be scoring as many as Messi but they are a stronger defensive unit with only 11 conceded so far. Unbeaten so far and play league leaders on the last day of the season so look to have the title in their own hands.

Jake Stothard has Tummery Athletic in a good position if top clubs suffer a drop in form. Only 4 points off 2nd spot so still in with a shot at promotion.

Lord Henrik Van Haarlink III has been in good form for Glebe Utd but they look unlikely to gain promotion. Already 9 points behind second spot it is difficult to see them having a chance at catching the leaders from here. A disappointing start for the title favourites.

John Crane and Enniskillen Town can only manage 5th at the moment. Crane was out for 6 weeks just as the season started which didn't help the cause. The club only managed 2 wins in 8 games so it looks like Crane was missed. He is back now though and the form has picked up, they recently beat league leaders Strathroy 7-1 away from home.

Arawn Moridin has done okay on a personal level but Churchtown are struggling down in 6th place. Moridin has just torn his hamstring and will be out for a couple of months. Hopefully Churchtown already have enough points on the board and won't get dragged into the relegation battle whilst he is out.

Herring is top scorer for Clabby Strollers but they are not doing well. Down in 7th with no chance at promotion this term, Herring will have to look towards next season for any success.


Mid Ulster 1st Division

Harold Kumar has shot Ambassadors to the top of the league. They have already opened up a 5 point lead and the title looks to be theirs for the taking. They still have to face 2nd and 3rd place teams though so can't afford to be too complacent.

Alex Shaw has taken Hill Street into the promotion spots. They are the only team to have beaten Ambassadors so far this season and may have an outside chance at the title if they can do the double over them.

Vivean Zachariah could still take Silverwood into the promotion places. They are only 2 points off second places and still have Hill Street to face at home. Zachariah is in good form as he has knocked in 18 goals from midfield.

Steven Kemp has been played out of position most of the campaign for St. Marys. The management have seen fit to play him either as AMC or RM for most games so far. He has now just been moved to his natural position but it is too late for him to make an impact. Although in 4th place they are 7 points behind the promotional spots and it looks too much to catch the leading clubs.

Jose Gainza can only take title favourites, Dungannon Rovers, to 5th spot. Gainza is playing well but appears to be lacking any help from team mates. Look to be too far behind the promotion spots now so will have to start looking towards next season.

Luis Van Der Bulli is not having a good time of it Dungannon Tigers. Not only are the club struggling down in 6th place but he is not playing well and been thrown back into the U-18 squad. The management must take most of the responsibility though as they have failed to play him in any of his preferred roles so far. He has played either at AMC or LWB so far not a surprise he has failed to make an impact.


Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Steve Duffy II has fired Seagoe United to the top of the league. Has knocked in 51 goals so far and will have to keep it up as it's very close at the top. Only 3 points between the top 4 means no one can afford any slip ups at this stage.

Omar Brown and Hanover are a very close 2nd place. They still have to travel to Seagoe and Richhill, games which could decide the promotional places. Brown will have to continue banging the goals in as those two games look very difficult on paper.

Sercan Cali is in good form for Richhill. His 37 goals has got them in contention as they lie in 3rd place. Only 2 points of top spot but they have a very difficult run in. They must face Seagoe, Hanover and Broomhill in the last 4 games. Two of the games are at home though so Cali must believe they can do it.

Gaston Martinez may be in 4th place with Broomhill but they are not out of it yet. Gaston has knocked in an impressive 34 goals so far but the club will need a few more from him as they travel to Hanover in the next game. A win there will see them overtake them and put promotion in their own hands as they face Richhill a few weeks later.

Berko Ihejirika can only lift Ballymacash into 5th place. They are 10 points behind the promotion race and it's extremely unlikely they are in with a chance now. Berko isn't doing too badly as he has only conceded 17 goals in a league containing some of the worlds best strikers. Has just kept 2 consecutive sheets against teams around him so may be able to secure the 5th place.

James Taylor and Moneyslane were predicted to struggle but Taylor should still be disappointed. He has enough talent to be able to raise the club so 7th at this stage is not good enough. Has been scoring and providing a few so far, mainly from his new position of LM.


Amateur Division 1A

Deep Throat is in a good position with U.J.J. His 44 goals has taken them to the top of the league with a comfortable 8 point gap to 3rd place spot. Should have enough in the tank now to secure one of the promotion places. They could possibly tie up the title with a win against Nortel when they travel to U.U.J in a few weeks time.

Marky Mark is doing a great job for Nortel. His defending from the front approach has led to him scoring and assisting in quantity. They have a nice cushion against the chasing pack but will have all eyes on the title.

Jimbo Labowman is in great form for Dundonald. Already in double figures for goals and assists but he is looking tired. Probably too far off the leaders to have a shot at promotion this year but it looks to be a great debut campaign all the same.

Geraint Alacarde and East Belfast can only match pre-season predictions. The club sit down in 6th spot with far too much work on to challenge for promotion. Geraint will have to look towards next season for any success.

Edoardo Lorenzo was in contention for the promotion chase with Grove United. A run of 6 defeats in 7 has ended all hopes now though. Plenty of goals and assists from the winger but it's not enough this year. Hopefully they can find their early season form again for the start of the next campaign.

Long Tym Holywood and Holywood are having an awful time of it. They were predicted for 4th place so to be sat in 11th is a huge underachievement. Long Tym is in good personal form as he is scoring and providing in quantity, looks like he needs better support for next season.

Mark Miwordz unbelievably is bottom of the pile with Bryansburn. They are 8 points adrift as they have only managed a single victory all season. It is going to need a monumental effort from here to keep the club up. They may need Mark to grab a few more goals as he has only managed a solitary goal so far.


The Cup reaches fourth round with still a few teams in with a shout. Nortel, U.U.J, Holywood & Dundonald are the only teams still left in.

He'll soon overtake his namesake but to be fair he is playing in Northern Ireland and not against some of the worlds best defenders week in week out

They seemed to get a tough draw tbh. The 3 teams above them all have excellent strikers and goal scorers make all the difference at the lowest levels. Should show signs of improvement next year once two of them are promoted.

2011-12 Season Review

Fermanagh 1st Division

Messi Jr secured the title with Strathroy. It went down to the wire as they faced Enniskillen Santos on the final day. It was 2-2 with 15 minutes left to play, a result which would have seen Strathroy finish 2nd on goal difference, and then Messi popped up with 2 goals to top the table. A great return for Messi as he knocked in 76 goals in just 22 games.

Mike Litorus will have to be happy with second spot with Enniskillen Santos. Litrous scored an amazing 71 goals to give them a chance at the title but the 4-2 defeat to Strathroy means they have to happy with second.

Jake Stothard could only lead Tummery Athletic to third place. They were quite far off the promotion places in the end but Stothard still managed an impressive 54 goals. Should be considered favourites for promotion next year as three of their 4 defeats came against the top two clubs.

Lord Henrik Van Haarlink IIIand Glebe Utd have to be happy with 4th place. They were 19 points off the promotional places and the defence has to be the main reason they weren't closer. They conceded a massive 54 goals to leave them on minus goal difference for the year, they need to improve on that for next season.

John Crane was only good enough to take Enniskillen Town into 6th place. With just the one draw Town appeared to be all or nothing where the result was concerned. Knocked in 35 for the season which looks impressive until you see other strikers totals. Report card reads must do better!

Arawn Moridin and Churchtown finish in 7th place. Moridin only managed another 5 games during the run in due to injury. He only provided 4 assists all season which isn't many for the main creative outlet. It's not clear if this is due to selfish play or poor strikers who can't finish the chances he creates. Something to keep an eye on in the coming seasons.

Herring climbed a couple of places with Clabby Strollers to finish 5th. Top scored for the club with 14 goals from midfield but is going to need more support next year if they are to challenge. The defence looked quite strong so just need a striker to compliment Herring.


Mid Ulster 1st Division

Harold Kumar secures the title for Ambassadors. They walked it in the end, winning the league by 14 points, mainly thanks to Kumar's 56 goals. The team won 14 consecutive games in the middle part of the season and also had a good defensive record. Should be good enough for the step up next season.

Alex Shaw and Hill Street miss out on promotion by 1 point. It was in their own hands going into the final day as they travelled to St. Mary's. Shaw hit the opener but St. Mary's found an equaliser through Steven Kemp. Hill St. couldn't find a winner which means they miss out this year.

Vivean Zachariah and Silverwood kept their heads whilst about were losing theirs to secure second place. It looked a tough ask as they needed to win the final game, away to the champions, to stand any chance. They managed a brilliant 5-0 win with Zachariah getting on the score sheet and also providing an assist.

Steven Kemp could only finish 5th with St. Marys. It was very tight for the second promotion place and it was close but ultimately they had too much to do. The club can probably point to a four match winless run in November as the reason they just missed out. Kemp has now become proficient in the AMC role as he has played there all season.

Jose Gainza went on a great run with Dungannon Rovers. They won the last 6 games to give themselves a shot at promotion. They were relying on other results though and Silverwood's win over Ambassadors means they miss out this year. If they can continue the form into next season, Rovers must have a chance at promotion.

Luis Van Der Bulli is still in Dungannon Tigers U-18 squad rather than the first team. When he has played it has been in the unfamiliar AMC role so no surprise he hasn't performed. He is learning the position though so may improve next season.


Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Steve Duffy II wins the title with Seagoe United. It was a great campaign as they only lost once and scored 100 league goals with Duffy grabbing 74% of them. Look good enough for the step up next season and should challenge for consecutive promotions.

Omar Brown and Hanover miss out on promotion but they should have secured it. A 2-2 draw at home to relegation candidates Banbridge AFC during the run in seriously dented their chances. Results elsewhere meant it was a result that cost them second spot in the end as they won the final two games.

Sercan Cali failed to get Richhill promoted. Just one win in the final six games wasn't good enough. It was in their own hands and should have been a lot closer. Cali did well on a personal note with 52 goals to his name. Will need some team mates to help out next season to try and get closer.

Gaston Martinez stepped up and managed to win promotion with Broomhill. The turning point was probably the 11-6 win over Hanover at the turn of the year. From there the team suffered just one more defeat to mean they claim second place and promotion. Martinez had a great return of 62 goals in his 21 games. They should be fine next year if he can repeat that form.

Berko Ihejirika ensured Ballymacash had the best defensive record but it was only good enough for 5th place. The team could only manage37 goals in the league. The fact the Duffy scored double that on his own shows where the clubs problems lie at the moment.

James Taylor and Moneyslane remained in 7th place. They were a long way of the promotional places and it will need massive improvement next season to start to challenge. Taylor managed to score and provide a few goals but it was not enough.


Amateur Division 1A

Deep Throat tops the table with U.J.J. He scored a massive 62 goals to clinch the title. Just one defeat during the run in ensured they won it with games to spare.

Marky Mark secures promotion with Nortel. He scored and provided goals in quantity, forging a great partnership with Anto Crawford. His great all round play means Nortel should be a force in the step up in leagues next year. Nortel were also finalist in the Intermediate cup but lost 2-1 to 1st division Larne.

Jimbo Labowman and Dundonald kept the pressure up on the leaders as they only lost one game during the run in. It was all in vain in the end as they were too far behind to catch them. His 27 assists and 15 goals is a huge contribution and should go close again next season.

Geraint Alacarde managed to climb a few spots with East Belfast. A 4th place is respectable enough and gives them a decent platform to challenge next season. May need to add a few more goals to his game as he only managed 8 league goals in 23 appearances.

Edoardo Lorenzo and Grove United managed just one win in their final 8 games to finish 7th. It's a disappointing season for young Edoardo but he did have a decent season on a personal note. He scored and provided plenty from the left wing.

Long Tym Holywood had a great secong half of the season to push Holywood up to 6th place. The team only lost once during the run in as Long Tym continued to score and assist a few more goals. If they start next season like they ended this one, they must be contenders.

Mark Miwordz should be called Houdini for the escape act he has pulled off with Bryansburn. At the turn of the year he had 1 goal in 12 games. In the same amount of games in the run in he scored 26 goals to pull Bryansburn away from the drop. It's an amazing turn around as the team secured 22 points from a possible 24 in the last 8 games. The turnaround happened with a change of manager. If he can continue this next season they have to be favourites for promotion.


The Cup was won by Premier league Distillery. Nortel progressed the furthest but were knocked out in the semi finals to eventual winners.

Not quite a clear road tbh. The 8 superstars promoted are going to be fighting it out for just two promotional spots next term. They are 4 groups in the next stage up. The group winners go into a promotional play off. They all play each other once and the two teams with the best results go up. Could be interesting.

Mid Ulster Intermediate A

Messi Jr and Strathroy are having no problems after promotion. Just the one draw so far in the league has left them 7 points clear of 2nd place. Should be strong enough to ensure they make the promotion play off.

Steve Duffy II is in fine form for Seagoe United but may have too much ground too make up. Should be closer but should suffered a poor 3-1 defeat to Lisanally. If they had won that game, Seagoe could probably still be considered contenders.


North West Premier Division

Harold Kumar and Ambassadors have the perfect combination. Lots of goals scored and very few conceded. Kumar has already fired in 29 league goals and they sit comfortably at the top of the league. They are 4 points clear and have two games in hand so should make the promotion play off from here.

Vivean Zachariah is doing well at Silverwood but they have found the step up a bit more difficult than other promoted clubs. It's difficult to see them catching 1st place now but the experience of higher level football should be good for the young squad.


Amateur Premier Division

Marky Mark leads the title chase with Nortel. Is in great form again, scoring and providing in quantity. Still very close at the top though with just 3 points separating the top 3 places. The squad are in a bit of an injury crisis. Hopefully they can push on when they get all first teamers back.

Deep Throat and U.J.J. can go joint top if they win their game in hand. They still have to travel to Nortel too so, the title is in their own hands if he can keep knocking the goals in.


Ballymena Premier Division

Mike Litorus has had a 100% start with Enniskillen Santos. They recently beat nearest challengers, Broomhill, 5-4 away from home to open up a 5 point gap. They host Broomhill on the last day of the season but Santos should have the title sewn up by then.

Gaston Martinez and Broomhill will probably have to be happy with second place. Although it's only a 5 point gap its difficult to see the leaders dropping any points at the moment. Martinez is in great form though with 51 goals to his name.


Fermanagh 1st Division

Lord Henrik Van Haarlink III tops the table with Glebe Utd on goals scored in a very tight title chase. Just 2 points between the top 3 clubs in what could go down to a nail biting finish. Glebe travel to Tummery for the final game of the season in a match that could decide promotion for either club.

Herring and Clabby Strollers are having a much better year than last season. In second spot with just one defeat so far has left them in a good position. The defence has been very strong again and could be the key to promotion.

Jake Stothard still has a shot at taking Tummery Athletic up. They still have to host the top two so Tummery possibly have the advantage in the title race. They need to stop the drawing games they should win though. They have drawn games against Irvinestown and Ballycastle which should be seen as 4 points dropped.

Arawn Moridin has suffered a major injury to put a dent in the promotional chances of Churchtown. He was in good form but now looks to be out for the season as still believed to have another 4 months on the sidelines. Hopefully he can make a full recovery for the start of next season.

John Crane and Enniskillen Town are bringing up the rear again. They sit back in 5th spot, 7 points behind second place. It's not out of the equation to get promoted from here but it looks a difficult task. The club need to tighten the defence up as they conceded almost 3 goals a game which isn't good enough.


Mid Ulster 1st Division

Alex Shaw and Hill Street haven't let the disappointment of last year get to them. Hill Street lead by 3 points but need to keep looking over their shoulders. There are some strong clubs chasing them so can't afford to become complacent at this stage. Have just beaten the 2nd and 3rd place clubs though and the most difficult match left appears to be when they travel to Dungannon Tigers.

Steven Kemp leads the chase with St. Marys. It's a decent improvement on last year when they could only finish 5th. They possibly have too much work on to lift the title due to Hill Street's easy run in but the second spot is in their own hands from here. Of the chasing teams they only have to play Armagh Celtic and Dungannon Tigers, games that St Marys can win.

Jose Gainza sits in third place with Dungannon Rovers. Poor results against the top two have left them needing to either score a lot more to improve goal difference or the top two to drop points. Definitely not out of the question to get promotion though, possibly just needs Jose to improve on his 3 goals so far.

Luis Van Der Bulli is now a first teamer for Dungannon Tigers. He has become accomplished in the AMC role the manager has been playing him and the performances have improved as a result. They have a very tough run in and have to face all 4 teams above them. If they somehow manage to get the results though promotion is still a possibility.

James Taylor and Moneyslane have another season of mid-table mediocrity on their hands. Taylor is in great form but the rest of the squad are not supporting him. The top scorer after him only has two goals which is not good enough.

Berko Ihejirika andBallymacash are also having a season to forget. Berko isn't conceding many but only has 3 clean sheets to his name. Again they have been lacking a goalscorer with only 17 scored in the league so far. Faulkner has a good record with 4 goals in 5 games which leaves pundits asking the question of why he doesn't get more games.


Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Omar Brown and Hanover have put last years disappointment firmly behind them. Top by 9 points with a 100% record it should be a walk in the park from here on in. They have a 19 point cushion to 3rd place so promotion is pretty much guaranteed.

Sercan Cali should also be getting promoted with Richhill. Look like they will have to be happy with second place due to Hanover's dominance but they are clear of 3rd by 10 points. Draws against 3 of the bottom 4 clubs have left them so far behind otherwise it could have been a title chasing season.


Amateur Division 1A

Long Tym Holywood heads the title chase with Holywood. They have continued the good form from the end of last year to make themselves favourites for promotion. They have a very good defence and a 5 point gap to 3rd so should be able to secure promotion from here.

Mark Miwordz won't need to pull off an escape act this season for Bryansburn. The excellent run from last year has continued to put them in a great position. Mark is still scoring in abundance but can't take it too easy. They are only 1 point clear if 3rd place and there is a long way to go.

Edoardo Lorenzo is not far behind with Grove United. Plenty of goals and assists from Lorenzo again to give them a chance at promotion. Bryansburn have to travel to Grove in a few weeks. A win there would put Lorenzo and co. as favourites to grab second place.

Geraint Alacarde and East Belfast can't be ruled out either. Only two points behind with both Bryansburn and Grove Utd yet to travel to Belfast. An injury to top scorer Rowen Neill has put a dent in their chances but it's not over yet.

Jimbo Labowman will be disappointed with how things are going at Dundonald. Down in 8th place and a massive 14 points off promotion means they are not going up this year. After the great run at the end of last season it is a surprise to see them struggling so much but 1 win in 10 this years tells its own story.



The Cup still holds some interest for a few clubs. Nortel, Grove Utd, Seagoe, Bryansburn and Holywood are still in the chase.

2012-13 Season Review

Mid Ulster Intermediate A

Messi Jr secured a place in the promotion play off with Strathroy. It was fairly comfortable in the end as they won the league by 7 points. Messi was in great form with 74 goals in all competitions.

Steve Duffy II has to settle for second place with Seagoe United. It was a good first season after promotion but Strathroy were just too strong. Duffy's 62 goals is a good effort and they should go close next season.


North West Premier Division

Harold Kumar and Ambassadors stormed the league, only suffering 2 draws all season. Kumar was excellent all season and finishes with an 8.84 average rating to go with his 63 goals.

Vivean Zachariah predicted a season of consolidation for Silverwood and that is how it turned out. They managed to finish second but it was only on goal difference. They had some poor results against the lower teams and will need more consistency next season to challenge for the title.


Amateur Premier Division

Marky Mark just about secured the title for Nortel. It was a close run race which was won thanks to Mark's 75 goals. But it went to the wire and they only managed it thanks to U.U.J slipping up during the run in. The club also lifted the Intermediate cup.

Deep Throat and U.J.J. were top with 3 games to go. Draws against Malachians and Downpatrick gave Nortel the momentum and meant it was out of their hands going into the final game of the season. Although U.U.J won so did Nortel to mean Deep Throat finishes second.


Ballymena Premier Division

Mike Litorus lifts the title at Enniskillen Santos. Only two draws all season shows their dominance throughout the year. Mike has picked up an ankle injury though that keeps him out of the promotion play off matches. They will miss his goals.

Gaston Martinez and Broomhill ran the champions close but losing twice to Santos cemented their second place finish. If they could have picked up a victory on final day when they travelled to Enniskillen they would have lifted the title themselves.

Promotion Play Off

Ambassadors and Strathroy secure the two available promotion spots. Santos always looked like outsiders with news of Litorus's injury meaning he was going to miss all games. Nortel scored plenty but couldn't keep clean sheets.


Fermanagh 1st Division

Lord Henrik Van Haarlink III and Glebe Utd lift the championship. It went to the wire and they claimed the league after a 2-1 win over second place Tummery on the final day. A defeat there would have left them in second place themselves. The Lord has a great season with plenty of goals and assists.

Herring and Clabby Strollers went on a run of 4 games without a win to drop them out of the promotion places. It's a disappointing end after a good start to the season.

Jake Stothard wins promotion with Tummery Athletic but they threw away the chance to win the league. They only won 4 points from the final 4 games and a few more points there would have given them some silverware.

Arawn Moridin missed the run in for Churchtown so the fourth place finish looks quite impressive. Arawn is back fit and ready for action now so they should be contenders next year.

John Cranehas to be content with a fifth place finish at Enniskillen Town. They conceded far too many goals to be considered challengers, something the management need to address for next season.


Mid Ulster 1st Division

Alex Shaw and Hill Street were very impressive and win the league by 10 points. Six consecutive wins at the end of the season, including an 11-0 win over Coalisland, showed their dominance. Should be good enough next year to challenge for back to back promotions.

Steven Kemp can only finish 3rd with St. Marys. They only managed 1 point from a possible 12 at the start of the year to mean they needed other results to go their way. They won the remaining four games but finish two points adrift of the promotion places.

Jose Gainza capitalised on the poor form of others to grab second place with Dungannon Rovers. The defence should take the plaudits with 13 clean sheets during the campaign. The club will need to improve as an attacking force next year to challenge.

Luis Van Der Bullihad the chance to win promotion with Dungannon Tigers going into the final game of the year. They travelled to Coalisland and if results went their way a win would be enough for 2nd place. The first part went their way as city rivals Rovers could only draw but Tigers went down 2-1 to leave them in 4th. Luis had a great year as he knocked in 18 goals.

James Taylor desperately needs some support at Moneyslane. Taylor was very impressive all season long but without the support the club could only finish 6th. They were 10 points away from the promotion places so needs a big improvement next year.

Berko Ihejirika and Ballymacash couldn't improve and finish a very disappointing 8th. The club have recently had a change of manager and hopefully he can address the goal scoring problem.


Mid Ulster Intermediate B

Omar Brown lifts the title at Hanover. Eventually winning the league by 12 points with only one defeat all year. Omar was brilliant all year as he amassed a very impressive 73 goals and a 9.58 average rating.

Sercan Cali secured the second promotion place for Richhill. It was fairly straight forward as they were 14 points clear. Will need to improve the squad in the summer if they are to compete as Hanover were far better than Cali's boys.


Amateur Division 1A

Long Tym Holywood and Holywood won the last 7 games to lift the title. It's an excellent turnaround after last years 6th place finish. Long Tym was excellent all season long as he scored and provided goals in quantity.

Mark Miwordz and Bryansburn secured second place and promotion to complete a remarkable turnaround. 18 months ago the club sat bottom and appeared destined for relegation. Most of the credit must go to the new manager who started getting the best out of Mark and the rest of the players.

Edoardo Lorenzo had a terrible run in at Grove United. They finished 14 points away from promotion due to losing 5 games in the second part of the year. It dropped them to 4th place and another season in the amateur division.

Geraint Alacarde gave it a good effort to catch the leading pack with East Belfast. Could possibly have snatched the promotion place with victory in the penultimate game with Bryansburn. East Belfast were at home and a victory would have put them level on points with a superior goal difference. It wasn't to be though as Bryansburn won the game 1-0 to effectively secure their own promotion.

Jimbo Labowman completes a miserable year at Dundonald by finishing 7th. Poor defence was leaking goals and the attackers didn't score enough. A poor combination that can only lead to a disappointing year. A change of manager appears to be needed but the current man is still said to be in a secure position.



The Cup was won by Holywood as they defeated Nortel on penalties. It means a European adventure next year for Long Tym and the rest of Holywood.

2013-14 Mid-Season Update

Second Division

Harold Kumar and Ambassadors sit top of the league by the narrowest of margins. Have yet to meet 2nd place Strathroy so it's difficult to name a favourite for the title at this stage. Both look good for promotion though.

Messi Jr continues his good form with Strathroy. He has now passed 150 league goals in just two and a half seasons at the club. Look to be strong enough for promotion and should some down to the two games against Ambassadors to decide the league winners.


Mid Ulster Intermediate A

Sercan Cali and Richhill have hit the ground running after promotion. Look to be in a tough group but Cali's 45 goals has shot them to the top. Looks very close at the top though and Richhill are still to travel to Seagoe and Tummery. Those away days should decide who wins the league.

Steve Duffy II leads the chase with Seagoe United. Only 2 points behind and with the leaders yet to travel to Seagoe they still have a chance at the title. Duffy is in great form with 33 league goals already.

Jake Stothard sits in 3rd place with Tummery Athletic. Although 5 points off the top spot they shouldn't be counted out yet. The 3 clubs around them all have to travel to Tummery giving them the advantage.

Omar Brown and Hanover haven't been able to adapt to the step up so far. They are in 4th and 7 points off the leaders. Have suffered some heavy defeats including 5-1 at Seagoe last time out and an 8-0 home defeat to Richhill.


North West Premier Division

Vivean Zachariah is much improved on last season and has Silverwood sitting top of the pile. It all looks to be going to plan for Zachariah and his progress is exactly how he predicted. Look like they will be tough to catch this year as already they have an eight point gap.

Alex Shaw and Hill Street have found the step up a bit too difficult. Already 10 points off the league leaders and it will have to be another season in the North West Premier.


Amateur Premier Division

Marky Mark has knocked in the goals to again put Nortel top of the league. It's very close though with just 5 points between the top 5. Mark has a game in hand though and can put a bit of distance between themselves and second place with a win.

Long Tym Holywood and Holywood should be topping the league. They suffered two awful defeats against Islandmagee and Albert Foundry, games they should have won. Unfortunately the European adventure didn't last long. They were drawn against Austrian side LASK Linz and went out 7-0 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.

Mark Miwordz and Bryansburn have also suffered defeats in games they should have won. Dundela, Killyleagh and Malachians have all taken maximum points against Mark and co. They need to be winning those kind of games to keep pace at the top.

Deep Throat is knocking the goals in for U.J.J. but the defence looks to be a problem at the moment. They have already conceded 32 league goals which is twice as many as the clubs above them. Will need to keep it tight at the back from here to have any chance at catching the leaders.


Ballymena Premier Division

Mike Litorus has put last years disappointment behind him to fire Enniskillen Santos top of the league. Only two points dropped all season has put them in a very strong position. Hard to see them slipping up from here so hopefully Mike will stay fit for the promotion play off this time.

Lord Henrik Van Haarlink III and Glebe Utd are doing quite well in their debut season in the Ballymena Premier. Second by quite a few points but they are playing well and hold the leagues best defensive record. It's a very small squad though and can't afford any injuries.

Gaston Martinez has scored a bucket load for Broomhill but it's only good enough for 3rd. They have a game in hand and could move into second with a win but promotion looks too much. They face Santos on the final day though so may be in a position to capitalize on any slip ups.

Jose Gainza inexplicably is not featuring in all the games for Dungannon Rovers. Has only played in half the league games so far despite plenty of goals and assists when he has played. Difficult to understand how they could drop him, especially with such a small squad.

John Crane finally has Enniskillen Town firing. Top of the league by 9 points they look nailed on for promotion now. Have recently gone into administration though and are lucky no points deductions apply in Ireland. No one has stepped up to buy the club yet but the players are still performing Crane in particular good form. Looks set for his highest goals tally so far.

Herring and Clabby Strollers are having a season to forget. Currently down in 6th place they can't build up any momentum. They had a poor start and took 4 games to find the first win. They then managed to win a few but are currently 4 without taking 3 points.


Mid Ulster 1st Division

Arawn Moridin and Churchtown have had a change of division and it looks to have done some good. Currently undefeated and top by 4 points with a 10 point gap to 3rd place. Looks like promotion is a possibility this year. Moridin is in great form, scoring and providing in quantity.

Luis Van Der Bullihas pushed Dungannon Tigers into the second promotion place. Have a decent lead over 3rd place St. Mary's but will need to keep performing to ensure they get that promotion.

Steven Kemp and St. Marys need favours from other teams to have any chance at promotion. Six points behind and very inconsistent means they only have a slim chance of going up.

Berko Ihejirika and Ballymacash are doing slightly better than last year but are still only good enough for 5th place. It's the same old story about needing a goal scorer that's the problem as they have only scored 17 in 14 games so far.

James Taylor missed 2 months action with fractured ribs and it looks like Moneyslane missed his input. They are way down in 7th and 15 points off the promotion spots. Shouts for the manager to be sacked fell on deaf ears as they handed the current manager another 12 month contract. The owners have recently decided it wasn't viable to be a professional club and have reverted to semi-pro status.


Amateur Division 1A

Geraint Alacarde looks nailed on for promotion with East Belfast. They have a 100% record and are 12 points clear of second place. Main striker Brian O'Neill has recently been ruled out for 3 weeks though. Hopefully that won't hinder their title chase.

Jimbo Labowman has put last years awful season behind him. Has managed to get Dundonald into second place but are only 1 point clear. Still have a game in hand so they have a chance to open up a bit of a gap. Has only just returned to action after knee ligament injury kept Jimbo out for 2 months in October.

Edoardo Lorenzo is in 3rd with Grove United. He can't be ruled out of catching 2nd place Dundonald yet but needs to stop drawing against the lesser teams. Too many dropped points against teams in the bottom half has left the chase out of their hands and needing favours.



The Cup holds interest for plenty of teams at the fourth round stage. Enniskillen Santos, Richhill, Ambassadors, U.U.J, East Belfast, Bryansburn & Strathroy are all still in the mix. The holders Holywood went out in the previous round, 5-4 aet against U.U.J.

League Cup has reached the semi final stage and Strathroy are still in with a shout. They face 1st division strugglers Dergview.
