Default A Trillionaire's Playground 2012 - Manngeld Returns Once More

    Republic of FM - A Trillonaire's Playground

    EXTRACT FROM AN UNNAMED NEWSPAPER
It is July 2008, and the world's richest man, Freidrich Manngeld - entrepeneur, owning several multinational companies, sports teams, and the country of Scotland - has announced plans that will shock the world of football, and indeed the world itself.

Manngeld had announced the renaming of Scotland several weeks ago as the "Republic of Freidrich Manngeld", or "FM" as it is to be known. A keen follower of football, the German has decided to set about creating the best league in the world, and has installed himself as head of the FM FA. Instead of sticking with a 'mediocre' and 'lacklustre' league, as he has donned the country's current setup, it is Manngeld's intention to create a multinational league system, with a newly-formed club from every one of the world's top ranked nations, all competing for glory.

Unfortunately for Manngeld, his plans did not come to pass. FIFA would not sanction the overhaul of such an established football league system, and protests from the larger clubs, notably Celtic and Rangers, eventually persuaded the German to give up the ghost.

But he didn't stop there. For almost three years, Manngeld has been working tirelessly, and has finally revealed plans of his latest football venture. This was helped to no end by the unstable natures of six North American Football Associations*, who Manngeld quickly took over. The countries, none of which are fully affiliated with FIFA, have agreed, for footballing purposes only, to be renamed as the "Republic of Friedrich Manngeld" under different confederations, whilst his old state of the same name has reverted to its former name of Scotland.

Manngeld's plan is to create the largest Club World Championship, all in one place. Every FIFA registered nation in the world is invited to have a team representing them, and will be run by some of the richest people in the world. The teams are to be sorted into divisions based on their continent or region, with no swapping between these continental divisions. However, there will be a cup competition which involves each team in the FM FA, as well as one for the winners of each continent, and various cup competitions for each continent internally.

Opponents of the plan have hinted that Manngeld has had a similar plan rejected two years ago, but the German bluntly rejects this notion. Whatever the history of his ventures, this time he is adamant that his creation will be a success. (Anybody who signed up to the 2010 version of this will know it didn't really get off the ground, and I offer my apologies again for that. This time however, I have a lot more free time and am confident that this'll be successful.)

So, where do I come in?
Manngeld has asked for the richest men and women in the world to found a club to take part in his new league. Knowing you may be interested, he has asked you to fill out the following form, in order to enter a team into his league setup. You have as long as you want to fill out and return the form, but Manngeld is operating on a first-come-first served basis, and the top nations are in high demand. Divisions with more than one tier will be sorted by reputation of nations, with the higher rep nations having teams in higher tiers. A full list of eligible nations, in their division, will follow.

    THE FORM
    Nationality:
    Name of Club:
    Chairman Name:
Chairman stats will be random, with the exception of loyalty. Don't want you leaving, do we?
    Home Kit:
    Away Kit:
    Stadium Name:
    Preferred Manager:

Chairmen have been granted £100m each to spend on the following areas:

    Youth facilities (£1m per level):
    Youth academy (£10m):
    Training facilities (£1m per level):
Stadium Size (starts at 15000, £5m for each additional 5000):
Reputation (starts at 3000, £4m for each additional 500):
    Transfer Funds:
Bank Balance Whatever is left over:

    Rules Regarding Form
The name of club must be fictional, and match the selected nationality. Names considered inappropriate or not consistent with the side's nationality will be subject to reconsideration.

Manngeld has taken into account that there is unlikely to be enough people rich and willing enough to partake in his football league, but has stated that between himself and other associates, who will buy clubs and assign acting chairmen to them, will be able to fill the entire quota if need be. He has set a deadline of 0000 HOURS, TUESDAY 1 MAY for prospective owners to declare their interest and make serious bids.

The aim of the game is simple, support your team to the end! In terms of your involvement after the initial selection process, all you will be able to do is sack your manager when you feel necessary or appropriate. You may appoint any manager you wish to take over, on the condition that they are not associated with any other club in the FM FA. Unattached managers are free to sign, whereas managers in a job will mean compensation. Choose wisely. The AI will take care of all other matters for you!

As well as the league and countless cup competitions, one of the side aims is for your club to help boost your nation's fortunes, by developing players. There will also be seasonly competitions with a number of prizes up for grabs. These may be decided by in-game AI occurrences, or may require you to partake in something in the game thread. Anything can, and anything will happen, and Freidrich Manngeld eagerly awaits your application.

*the North American countries who have agreed to help Manngeld with his competition are: Guadaloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Sint Maarten, Saint Martin and Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

You're £10m over budget, so that needs sorting; but otherwise fine

Going for the long term planning route. Get the infrastructure in early, we may struggle early doors but play the long term game.

    ooops!

    Fixed

I'm hoping David Moyes will perform his speciality of doing quite well with limited resources and that the youth will pay off in the future.

Don't think that's been done before, pumping ALL money into facilities. Hopefully that giant stadium can earn you the money to push forward! Honoured to have you on board.

I think you'll be alright in the reserved stakes; not sure all 200+ spots are going to fill before you've had your dinner!

Meant to ask actually - how is the average attendance figure set in the database? Same for everyone? Percentage of capacity?

Yeah, I'm going for the long haul. No money, but a decent manager can handle that, but a strong set of kids and and means to train them. Might be foolhardy. Who knows!

As a percentage, yes. Roughly in line with most of the larger real clubs, the attendance field will be set to that of the stadium capacity, the minimum attendance to 60%, and the maximum to 125%. It would be unfair to expect people to spend big on stadiums which gives them no advantage over teams with smaller grounds. Hopefully some decent crowds will be attracted.

I've gone bold here. I'm hoping that a big rep will mean better players and subsequently more money coming in from doing well. What's the prize money like for say finishing first in the top division?

Another interesting strategy, differing from the usual tactic of being solid across the board. The prize money hasn't been explicitly decided yet, but it will be high; consistent with Europe's top leagues.

Ok, I think I may be relying on it come the end of the season. I think I may be going quite risky but it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Yeah haha but we won't be able to play each other much because of the continental divisions. We can only play against each other in the cups but that's fine as it just means that one team (me) will get the bragging rights for longer!

Done an edit on my post, gone for low facilities, high rep and large'ish stadium Hoping the reputation will allow us to attract decent players, whilst bringing in a steady income from the stadium.

Just noticed Spain were taken so i'll edit it.

It will be interesting to see how things work out for people...
    • High Value Into Facilities, Low Rep and Lower Stadium
    • Big Stadium, Low Rep, Average Facilities
    • High Rep, Average Stadium, Average Facilities
    • Average Across The Board
    • Big Stadium, Big Rep, Very Low Facilities
There are other combinations too, so I wonder which one would be best to go with

How will we get our players? Will there be a free list for which our managers will fashion a team together, or will you do a draw or what?

No - the 'Add Players to Playable Clubs' option will be ticked at the start of the game, and teams will have to rely on both this and their youth system in order to fashion an initial team. And the manager's transfer dealings of course. I want to keep all real players at their current clubs.

From experience, this will be set in relation to the team's transfer budget and balance, but shouldn't be too high at the start of the game to cause any problems. Your form is fine

Any idea if reputation of the club will affect what players we get then? Considering my teams facilities and lack of a youth system, I hope Redknapp is good with the transfers

As far as I'm aware, there's quite a lot of factors involved. Reputation, facility level, and competition reputation are the biggest I believe.

Shouldnt their be an option for youth recruitment/junior coaching as those are the things that actually affect the quality of the youth players coming through.

I've kept it simple - in my eyes the Youth Academy will affect the quality of coaching - this attribute is 20 with an academy and 10 without. Each club also has a youth recruitment of 20.

Interesting idea! Not too many of us in the Asian leagues it seems.

I'm going to take a gamble and go for a bigger transfer pot, despite knowing how badly the AI do with transfers...

Hopefully the comparison between our clubs will prove that Jurgen Klopp > Harry Redknapp. Which as a Gooner, I can confidently say is the case.

    Mind the gap.

Well, there are 208 places to fill, but I realise it's totally unrealistic to expect them to all be taken. So I'm going to accept as many entries as possible up until the deadline in the OP (or interest dies down) and fill the rest of the places with generic AI run sides.

Tell me about it! I've currently done 17/30 of the clubs so far entered and the stadia/chairmen for the rest. Hoping to catch up with all entries by the end of today as well as competitions. What I've learned in the past regarding things like this is the worst thing I can do is get left behind.

I can make a couple more if you want additional teams. Our input is pretty limited ("Fire that jerk!" and "Hire this new jerk!") so managing multiples should be pretty easy for us. You have the hard work.

There should actually be more things you'll be able to do once we get going, including a lot of thread-based challenges. But I expect I'll open up the option of people having a second team in a different confederation (ie not having two rival European teams) a little later on down the line when demand starts dropping.

Judging by your edit I can see you've noticed, but if nobody claims China before I decide to open up the option of a second team for players, then this form will be valid.

[QUOTE=Dave.;7730098]No - the 'Add Players to Playable Clubs' option will be ticked at the start of the game, and teams will have to rely on both this and their youth system in order to fashion an initial team. And the manager's transfer dealings of course. I want to keep all real players at their current clubs.

Forgive my stupidity but does that mean you already know which players are at which clubs?

Cant wait for this to start.

No sorry, it's not really that clear now I read it again. I meant that all players at real clubs will stay there (ie Messi will remain at Barca). All players at the clubs in this sign-up will be game-generated, before of course managers make any signings from overseas.

Cheers! I've edited my original post so it's clear Prandelli is still available.

Quick question: Will the stadiums be set so they can be expanded and to what size will the max capacity be set?

Currently, expansion capacity is set to 0. I'm not entirely sure if this means that any attempt by the board to expand the stadium will be blocked or not. If there is strong support for this criterion to be changed then I can do, but for now stadiums are set at the capacities they start at.

Thanks for response, the reason for asking was i wondered if those clubs in a smaller Nation where they receive lower sponsorship, tv revenue etc would be hindered by those in larger Nations getting much more money than them and being left in the duldrums so to speak? If they could get larger stadiums then it could help them financially compete with other clubs. Not sure if this makes sense but it did in my head lol

I'm not sure if the nation they are based in will have much impact; they'll all be in the same league system (at least within their continental confederations) and so sponsorship and certainly TV revenue will be consistent with their bigger rivals. I hope I've answered the question you were asking sufficiently here.

SPONSORSHIP CHALLENGE #1 - MANNGELD ENTERPRISES

Sponsorship challenges will feature from time to time in this thread, hosted by the companies Friedrich Manngeld has secured competition sponsorship from. These challenges can take a variety of forms - based on in-game stats you have no control over, quizzes, a thread competition, as well as others. As a very rich man, Manngeld can afford to offer a vast array of exciting and valuable prizes himself, as well as those offered by the sponsors.

Manngeld has yet to disclose details of any sponsorship deals he has secured, and in an effort to promote his leagues to the world, has issued a challenge. Guess one of the companies he has made an agreement with, and win one of a number of prizes he has on offer.

There are 25 sponsors in all, one each for the premier division, lower divisions (except Oceania and South America), cup and super cup of each country, as well one each for the World Club Championship; open to every team in the new league system, the Cup Winners' Cup; open to the premier division and cup winners of each country, and the Manngeld Trophy; a two legged affair between the winner of the World Club Championship and the winner of the existing FIFA Club World Cup.

A correct guess of one of the sponsors of the two large worldwide cups (Manngeld Trophy not included) will net one of the best young players from one of the world's newest and most impressive youth academies in Germany, which Manngeld owns and runs. A correct guess at one of the sponsors of a continental premier division or cup will win the prize of £1M, and a small reputation boost to their club (+100). And a correct guess at one of the ten other sponsors of the lower leagues and super cups will win £1M. Each sponsor of a competition is based in the same continent as that competition, and is a large and (fairly) well known company.

Good luck to all those who take part in this challenge, and only your first guess will count! (No editing of posts is allowed, and in the case of two players' guesses being the same, only the first one will be accepted.)

Given Manngeld's German roots, I'm going to go with Volkswagen.
