A Lower Leagues Sign-up

Who can have the most successful lower league career? The whole aim of this sign-up is to be mediocre, good enough to make it in your current club, but not good enough to get plucked up by a bigger club. We are looking for a bunch of lower league stars who can handle a career away from the spotlight. Users have created an average player and attempt to get as many appearances without making a top level appearance, the longest consecutive streak after all players retire will be the winner. This could be achieved late in a career after a period playing for Manchester United, or this could be as a youngster, but probably the best chance is going to be the player who is just never that good.

The Aim

"Be Average, Never Overachieve"

More consecutive appearances in lower leagues than any other player, aim has to be avoiding those top clubs. A streak is defined by not playing for a top club, missing a game for whatever reason will not break this.

List of Entrants

Please look for any errors in your players set-up quickly. There are a couple of players who got automatically moved to B teams, but I had no control over this, and in this sign-up maybe being at a lower league B team might get you more league appearances.

September 2011 Update

The Players

Joe Bloggs - He has been moved immediately to the B team for Logrones, but this has also meant he managed to play almost immediately as he made 2 league appearances already.

Luis Pisani - Well a worrying start for Pisani as he injured himself in an early training session, strained wrist puts him out for 12 days. After recovery he has been fighting hard to make the starting line-up, but has yet to even make an appearance off the bench.

Percy Mathews - Mathews needs to work on his headers after suffering a bruised head and out for 9 days. After recovering he has been leading the way as Captain of the Ontinyent U19s with 2 goals and an assist so far.

Sebs Sebeulsson - Has managed to make his professional debut, but it was for Andorra CF in the cup against Orihuela, so he has not started his account as he did not feature in their league game.

Mike Nevo - His first appearance for Arandina has seen him as the youngest player for the club. Having played just the 1 game he will look to continue his career.

Jim Bowman - The youngest ever player in the Second Division B2 as he appeared off the bench for Segovania in their first game of the season. May have only been 27 mins, but it is more than some players have achieved.

Elliot van Barthold - Has become the youngest ever player for Albacete as he came off the bench, but he was then moved to Albacete "B" where he has made 3 further league appearances to take an early lead.

Eighteen Rabbit - Not much news here and he is currently seen as a back-up to the first team, so he will not be dropped to the U19s and he won't be making an appearance unless there is an injury.

Martino Bazzoli - Another player with a sprained wrist as Bazzoli misses 12 days following a training injury. After recovering from the injury he has appeared in both the league and cup for Toledo with 2 clean sheets. He also set the record as the youngest ever Second Division B1 player.

Charles Beams - He became the youngest ever player for Real Union when he stepped on the park against Zamora, a good start, but he then didn't play in the Spanish Cup game a few days later.

Steve Duffy - Is playing for Ejido in the league, started the season in the midfield with a good assist in the only game the side have played so far, is pleased to have joined the side.

Jimmy Adraboa - A 9 day injury sees Adraboa miss a bit of preseason as he stubs his toe in training. He came on as an injury time sub in his teams only game so far, is hoping to break into the first team.

Ben Goldsmith - Goldsmith has been moved to the Guijelo "B" team, but this has meant game time for someone who would be unlikely to get it at the senior level. He has made 3 appearances in the lower league so far.

Bjorgvin Radebe - Has started pretty well, other than the fact he is in the U19s, he has made 7 appearances for the youth side, but none of those count. Will be looking to battle into the senior side soon.

Raymond Valentine - The first major injury of all the careers saw Valentine sprain his ankle and he was expected to miss six weeks meaning he would miss the start of the season. On top of the injury he has been put into the Under 19s side, so he might not even get an appearance once he returns.

Josh Wilson - He has made 10 non-competitive outings between the U19s, senior side and the Latvian U19s as well. Looking to show his stuff as much as he can and get into the top side.

Long Tym Toon - He bruised his jaw in an early training session and went on to miss 10 days of the preseason. He made it back in time to start for the U19s side, only to suffer a broken ankle in his first game and put himself out for 3 months. He did play in all the friendlies before the injury, so once he recovers he will be fighting to get games under his belt.

Bob Marley - Well Marley featured in every single friendly for Teruel, but somehow missed the team for the first league match so is still sitting on the bench.

Josh Crane - The youngster started for Huracan in their first game, he made no major impact other than becoming their youngest ever player as he hopes to continue in the starting XI.

Carlos Zapata - Very consistent at the back, he has played in 1 league game and 1 cup game for Alcala, and both of them had ratings of over 7. He will look to continue his form at the back.

John Smith - He is listed for loan by his side, unless someone comes in with a bid for him he could be a bit part player for Llagostera this season.

Default Man - Another player who got moved off to the "B" side as Cacereno couldn't see a place for him in the senior side, but he ended up going amazingly well at the back as in 3 appearances he is averaging 7.30, we may see him back in the Second Division B shortly.

All appearances that a consecutive without an appearance in the big league. So if Manchester United sign you and you play in the cup for them, and then get loaned to a Championship team and play in the Championship you still have not played a game in the top league. If you play for Barcelona B in the Liga Adelante that is ok. :)

February 2012 Update

The Players

Joe Bloggs - Is currently out with a sports hernia, he is expected to miss a total of 7 weeks with this injury. He is still playing for the Logrones B side, but has managed 11 appearances for a very average rating of 6.58.

Luis Pisani - Has the Venezuelan Manager in his favoured personnel after making 2 caps for the senior side, he continues to feature for his club side having made 18 appearances so far this season.

Percy Mathews - Spent most of December on the sideline with a damaged foot, but he has come back and is still leading the way for Ontinyent's U19s side. He has only managed a single game off the bench for the senior side.

Sebs Sebeulsson - Pulled his hamstring in October and missed 4 weeks, but has now come back and is a major part of the way Andorra CF play as he has made 16 league appearances and is considering a new contract from the club.

Mike Nevo - Nevo has been playing a large role for Arandina as he made 15 appearances for the senior side, he only missed 4 weeks earlier in the season when he also pulled his hamstring. He is being chased by Sabadell (Liga Adelante) & Moreirense (Liga Vitalis) for transfer.

Jim Bowman - Suffered a double hernia on September 14th and was out of action for 2 months, he managed to recover and make 3 senior appearances, but then followed it up with a groin strain in training and missed the first 21 days of January.

Elliot van Barthold - He has been transferred to the Albacete B side after 2 bench appearances in the A team, he has gone on to make 17 appearances in the third division. His only time out was in November when he sprained his ankle and missed 6 weeks to drop from the lead.

Eighteen Rabbit - Has made 10 total appearances, but only 6 of them have been in the league, he is hoping to build on this, but Linense have a couple of better right backs. His only injury was early in September when he damaged his face and missed 9 days.

Martino Bazzoli - His only injuries have been very minor and he has kept 7 clean sheets in 16 appearances for his club, as such Toledo have offered the young goalie a new contract extension.

Charles Beams - Only managing a poor 2 mid week appearances for league leaders Real Union is a bit disappointing for Chales, but he is looking forward to gaining more experience. He did manage to score a goal in one of his four cup appearances though and is attempting to impress the manager in training.

Steve Duffy - He has taken the lead in the competition early on, and has also become the most valuable at 375k. He has played in 21 of the 23 games his side has played this season, and believes the team has more potential than they are showing, he probably has a point as the team is about to get relegated.

Jimmy Adraboa - Seems to be a little injury prone as he suffered a stubbed toe (9 days), Torn Groin (2 months) & is currently out with a concussion (2 weeks). He is hoping to make it back and start playing again with the hope to build on his 11 appearances so far for Gimnastica.

Ben Goldsmith - Has just been moved back to the senior side after he suffered food poisoning, he has managed to make 5 appearances for his B team. Strains to his knee ligaments kept him out for 7 weeks, but he is optimistic about his future.

Bjorgvin Radebe - He is hoping to get some first team experience by going on loan as he is currently stagnant at Lleida having only made a single league appearance in his time at the club. He has made 27 appearances for the U19s though. Is attracting some attention from Beira-Mar who are a feature of Liga Sagres in Portugal.

Raymond Valentine - Valentine has been named as captain of the national side, but he is yet to be capped for the team. A sprained ankle and fractured wrist have seen him miss 13 weeks of the season, but even while he has been available he has only made one appearance off the bench for Jaen.

Josh Wilson - His manager clearly doesn't see him as good enough for this level as he has yet to make an appearance for the senior side, while he has been relegated to the U19s he has managed to rack up 27 appearances in that team.

Long Tym Toon - A bit of a worry for Toon as he recovered from his broken ankle and damaged his foot, he has managed to make 2 appearances for the senior side. The injuries are a worry, but they may actually help him in this challenge if they hold him from signing for a top side.

Bob Marley - Has the Jamaican Manager in his favoured personnel and also the right back at his current club, Alberto Negral, obviously this is helping as he has made 15 appearances for the side this season as they are looking at a mediocre mid table finish.

Josh Crane - Crane was a feature of the England U20s side that were the world cup runners -up, he also has been a key part of the Huracan Valencia side that is fighting for promotion as he shares the competition lead with 21 appearances for his team.

Carlos Zapata - Is friendly with the club manager at Alcala, and it must be having an effect as he has played 19 times for the senior side, the right back has managed a 7.17 rating over the season as he only missed time for a damaged foot in October.

John Smith - Is currently out of action with a torn calf muscle, he has missed 6 weeks already and the club Physio believes he will be out for another three months, this may see him miss the rest of the season. He did manage 8 appearances before suffering the injury so is not that badly off in the competition.

Default Man - The challenger has been moved to the B team since early in the season and is reaping the rewards of playing lower down the pyramid. Default Man has a total of 15 league appearances over the season, even after he missed 6 weeks with strained knee ligaments.

In February updates I will provide a different screenshot each season, so if anyone has a request after the September Updates are posted just make a request and I will see what I can do. Sorry for the delay in this update, but the last two weeks ended up a lot busier than I expected, now I am hoping to move forward in this a lot faster.

isn't it rather dangerous having a lowly nationality as you won't rack up the consecutive appearances?

The appearances don't have to be consecutive, they just have to be in a lower league. The streak is only broken by playing in the top league in any country, be it England, Spain, South Africa or Tahiti. Only League Appearances count, so that means no internationals, no cups.

June 2012 Update

The Players

Joe Bloggs - Logrones managed to come 4th, while Bloggs only played in the "B" side, making 20 very average appearances. He did also spend three weeks on the side line with a gashed leg, but is delighted to be consistently average.

Luis Pisani - He has to be delighted as he made a 33 appearances in the league for his club, but disappointed at the same time as his side finished 19th and were relegated. This may mean more chances, and he has signed a new "Key Player" contract and will earn 350 per week until 2014. He has also made 3 appearances off the bench for the Venezuelan side.

Percy Mathews - Mathews will be looking for a new team, or at least a better chance after a season where he only made a single appearance for Ontinyent. Luckily for him, he is being hunted by Plymouth Argyle of the English League Two, and if that doesn't come off then his side was also relegated. In April he did pull his hamstring and miss four weeks, but still made 35 appearances for the U19s.

Sebs Sebeulsson - Andorra did make the playoffs this season, but lost in the first round after a 5th in the league. Sebs made a great 29 appearances through the season, he made 14 assists and had an average rating well over 7. Some might think it is a dangerous tactic making a stunning effort like that, but he could just be looking one level higher. His contract expires at the end of the month, but he is considering a new contract.

Mike Nevo - He made 31 appearances throughout the season, but he didn't do enough to prevent the relegation of his Arandina side to the Spanish Third Division. He is currently looking at a new contract, but there is also interest from Jaen (Mid-Table 2DB), Sabadell (Relegated from Liga Adelante) & Leixoes (Top Liga Vitalis).

Jim Bowman - Just 14 appearances for Bowman as his club fought hard to finish 8th, he is happy playing for the club and delighted to be part of the Scotland U19s side. He spent 10 days on the sideline in March with a bruised rib, but has generally been quite healthy.

Elliot van Barthold - Albacete finished the season 7th, but van Barthold did spend most of the season with the "B" side as he managed a total of 26 appearances and 13 goals throughout the season. Strained ankle ligaments in February did see him miss 6 weeks, but van Barthold is a strong contender and will hope to build on this in the new season.

Eighteen Rabbit - Linense went on to win the 2nd Division B4 this season with Rabbit making 10 appearances throughout the season. The young right back will be hoping to feature more next season as it looks unlikely his team will be promoted as they have lost the first leg of playoffs 2-0.

Martino Bazzoli - He ended up on the outer at Toledo as they finished mid-table and he sat on the bench through the second half of the season. He will be signing a new contract with the club during June, his first professional contract. With only the 17 appearances this season he will be looking to win the starting job now.

Charles Beams - Beams only made a pair of appearances for his Real Union side as they went on to dominate the Second Division B2, it looks likely he will be promoted to Liga Adelante with them as they have a home game to win promotion against Castilla after drawing 3:3 in Madrid. He is enthusiastic about his future at the club and will hope to get some game time.

Steve Duffy - He ended the season in second on the leaderboard as he put together 35 appearances for Poli Ejido as they battled really hard, but ended the season last and were relegated 22pts from safety. He will be hoping to continue his performances and get similar numbers of appearances next season.

Jimmy Adraboa - A season where he played 18 games and his side got relegated sees him unhappy as he wants a new challenge. His team have hence transfer listed the youngster, there is currently no interest from anyone else, it seems the asking price of

475k is too steep for most sides. The only other news for Adraboa is his Back Strain in April which saw him miss 4 weeks of game time.

Ben Goldsmith - A disappointing season for Goldsmith as he only managed 5 games for the Guijelo "B" side and not a single one in the top team. He is enthusiastic about his future, but he really needs to do something to at least grab the attention of his manager because right now he looks to be a bench warmer and not much more. Illness sees him miss more time than injuries as he suffered food poisoning and a cold this season.

Bjorgvin Radebe - Radebe suffered a back strain in March and missed 4 weeks, but it is kind of irrelevant given he only made a single appearance in the league this season spending most of his time in the U19s squad. He is optimistic of a chance being given to him at the club, but as his club only just missed relegation this season he may be lucky to see game time.

Raymond Valentine - The right midfielder is on contract until 2016 and optimistic about his future at the club, only managing a couple of appearances for Jaen during the season is a bit of a worry. He did manage 2 assists and an average rating of 7.60 during those two games, so maybe the team should look at playing him a bit more. Will be hoping Mike Nevo joins him in the offseason.

Josh Wilson - He made 5 appearances in the second half of the season as Reus battled their way to 12th in the league, he has not suffered a single injury and spent most of his time playing for the Under 19s side, he is optimistic about his chances at the club and his contract is valid through to 2015.

Long Tym Toon - Making only 3 appearances in the league as his team came 9th in the league. He is still listed for loan, but there seems to be no-one interested in him, and his efforts for the Under 19s aren't really showing any skill that would lead to another club signing him to a new contract.

Bob Marley - Marley managed to not only gain a Federation Cup trophy, but he scored the game winning goal at 90+1 as his team scored a second leg 2:1 victory over Castilla to lift the trophy. His team though only managed 7th in the league with Marley making 26 appearances for the club and scoring 8 goals. Has also been twice capped for Jamaica, and hoping to continue that trend.

Josh Crane - Is leading the competition after making 36 appearances for Huracan Valencia as they managed to fight to 8th in the title hunt. He also managed to put 3 goals in the net and add 8 assists on the season. He was part of the England U20s side who were runner-ups at the World Cup and is happy to be at a successful club.

Carlos Zapata - He managed to make 33 league appearances during the season as his club came 6th in league, he also managed 5 cup games as his team pushed through to 1st round of the Federation Cup. He has managed a rating over 7 through the season and as such he may attract some attention in the coming transfer window.

John Smith - He ended up missing the majority of the second half of the season after missing 4 months with a torn calf muscle, overall he made 8 appearances and helped his club to avoid relegation. Is enthusiastic about his future and wants to move forward and do some effort in the team to help them in the new season.

Default Man - He spent about half the season with the B side, and the other half in the top team. With a combined 25 appearances in total, he helped his team to 10th in the league with 1 goal and 2 assists. He is only happy to be playing for the club.

Avoid the Top

September 2012 Update

The Players

Joe Bloggs - Well he is still in the "B" side and has added 2 more appearances at the start of the new season, he has also learnt some basic Spanish which should help him communicate with the team.

Luis Pisani - Following his clubs relegation, Pisani has joined the crowd in the third divisions, he has made a single appearance so far and he has also suffered a strained wrist in July. An extended contract sees him at the club til 2014. He has also become accomplished at Left Back over the year.

Percy Mathews - His club was also relegated last season, and it is going to play into Percy's hands for this competition as he played in his clubs first game and has now made as many appearances as last season.

Sebs Sebeulsson - Signing an extension to his contract, he now has Andorra CF as his favoured club, so may stay a while longer. His club is yet to play a game, their season starts September 2nd.

Mike Nevo - Another club that was relegated, Nevo has made 2 appearances already scoring a goal and grabbing an assist for an average rating of 9.00, he may attract some notice. He has also signed an extension out til 2014 and will look to stick around.

Jim Bowman - He has played in 5 friendlies and will be hoping to showcase himself as his contract is up at the end of the season, his clubs season starts tomorrow.

Elliot van Barthold - He suffered a concussion in July and missed 10 days, but playing for Albacete "B" once again he has made 4 starts already and scored 4 goals, his contract is also up at the end of the season.

Eighteen Rabbit - Not much to talk about here, no contract extension, no club move, no games yet, just 5(2) friendlies, and average performances in them. Linense's season starts 2nd September as well.

Martino Bazzoli - Has provisionally signed a professional contract, but not sure how long it is for, Toledo are still in the 2DB and as such are starting their season tomorrow and Bazzoli should be starting after going 4(3) in friendlies with 4 clean sheets.

Charles Beams - Following the promotion to Liga Adelante he will be hopeful of some more appearances, but only appearing in half of his teams friendlies is not such a good thing. One to watch as he needs a new contract as well.

Steve Duffy - Is currently halfway through recovery from a twisted ankle, hoping to be back in 2-3 weeks, he signed a new contract following his teams relegation and will be hoping to get back into the team after his recovery.

Jimmy Adraboa - Has made two appearances already for his team following the relegation, but he is listed for loan, also has interest from Stevenage (League 1). Could see some sort of move shortly for Adraboa.

Ben Goldsmith - Looks to have been lined up for the senior side this year after showing himself in the "B" team all of last season. Nothing else to really talk about for Goldsmith.

Bjorgvin Radebe - Is still lining up for the U19s which will not help him in the competition, but he is now attracting attention from Terrassa (2DB), another Spanish side.

Raymond Valentine - He has a contract through til 2016 so be interesting to see how long he hangs around here, is lined up in the Under 19s so is not likely to make many more appearances with his current club.

Josh Wilson - He has made 3(2) appearances in the friendlies for his club and will be looking to take that form into the regular season as he needs to make some appearances to compete in this competition.

Long Tym Toon - He has appeared in every single friendly for his Sant Andreu side, will be hoping to continue this form into the season as he goes for the lead in the competition.

Bob Marley - He made 8 friendly appearances before the season and scored 6 goals, it was a very good performance and he will surely continue it into the new season as well.

Josh Crane - Well the performance of Crane last season has seen our first transfer as Brighton came in and purchased him for €170k, this sale has seen him move into the Premier League, he will be hoping to avoid playing for them as that would break his run at the top, so looking to go on loan.

Carlos Zapata - He has appeared in all the friendlies so far, signed a contract extension, and put his own manager on his favoured personnel list, he is looking forward to the season.

John Smith - Smith has had an uneventful off season, he didn't extend his contract, he only made 1(2) appearances during friendlies and not much else going on either.

Default Man - The default challenger has managed to appear in the majority of friendlies for his club, he is looking to play for the top side this season, has yet to be moved to the "B" side which happened a lot in the previous season.
