Two in, one out as the window slams shut
Leaving Stoke today was goalkeeper Carlo Nash who has had his contract terminated. With Sorensen and Begovic ahead of him chances to play will be at a minimum. Relief is the main emotion around Stoke tonight as the deal for Peter Crouch fell through with just an hour to go while failure to land the top defender target meant chairman Kristopher Scott pulled Ryan Shawcross out of his move.

Coming in is striker from League One, Lee Novak. Not a player that will get pulses racing but manager Tony Pulis points out that Lee is very much a team player and does not stop running, just the attitude that suits this fine club.

The final deal saw Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend join with just 60 seconds left on the transfer window. Bringing in a left sided winger was a main aim for deadline day but being priced out of three other deals it was decided that a season long loan would be best all round.
