*Mourinho's counter attacking 4231deep*FM12*

After testing the tactic for more than 3.5 Seasons, I think I can upload it know.

Not going to write much, rather uploading lots of screenshots so that you can make your own picture of it.

Team/Formation: The game became far too easy, so that I decided to sell Rossi, Nilmar and Valero...

Player stats:

My best and most consistent performer, signed him for 1.500.000€ in the first season from Betis

About the tactic: Me, myself describe it as a mix of direct, counter attacking style of football, but also focused on solid defence and possession.

Player requirements:

GK: Not really certain type of keepers.

Having a modern sweeper would be a bonus, but isnt a must...

CB: Good anticipation, defensive attributes and also need to have solid pace.

I would also recommend you to sign tall defenders, in order not to have problems in defending of set pieces.

FB: Good defensive attributes, good physical attributes and everything else like offensive qualities are just a bonus.

DMC: Very good defensive attributes, must have good stamina, I recommend to have at least one with good passing attribute (right DMC) and in terms of defending set pieces, I would try to always have at least one tall DMC on the pitch.

No "Runs forward whenever possible" PPM for the DMCs!

Winger: Pacy, good technical and also mental attributes and at least one of the wingers should be a good goalscorer aswell, as they will find themselves in very good positions.

AMC: Technically and mentally perfect player, with good off the ball movement and if hes quick and also a good goalscorer, you will have lots of fun with him.

CF: Definately a poacher type of player, pacy, good finishing and off the ball movement is required.

No Strikers with the PPM "Plays with back to goal" and if he has the PPM "Drops deep to get the ball", make sure, he has at least 15 for "off the ball movement"!

Match preparation:

Usually, in the first season, it takes much longer time to get the tactic fluid, so I recommend to use "Teamwork" (very high) until everything is 100% fluid or until the last day of August and then switch to "Attacking movement" (low)!

Team talks: Very important: You need to exactly follow, what I say, in order to get the best out of this tactic!

First of all, get a good Ass. manager with at least 16 in "Motivation and Man management", he should also have good attributes in "Determination and Discipline".

Having an Ass. manager with good attributes in rating "Players current and potential ability" is a good bonus.

Also try to sign coaches/1st team coaches with good attributes, which Ive listed above.

Pregame: At home, you are always going to use the "Do it for the fans!" (assertive), unless your Ass. manager tells you, that one or some players seem to be overconfident, cocky and so on... as soon as one of your players made an overconfident impression, you will change your strategy from "Do it for the fans!" to " Show me what you've got!" (assertive).

This way, you will encourage them a bit.

Dont touch the individual talk option, unless somebody has shown a negative response or when the option on the right corner "ask the ass. manager to do the individual talks" is available, I always click onto this button.

Otherwise never individual talks pregame!

If one of your players has shown a negative response, try to boost his morale/confidence by either chosing the "I have faith in you" (passionate) or "There's no pressure on you" (calm) if his morale is low (yellow).

Also, if your Ass. manager has told you, who exactly made an overconfident/cocky impression, chose individual talk on him and tell him you "Expect a good performance" (assertive)!

Away: In away games, you are always going to use the "Show me, what you've got" (assertively).

Never use the "Do it for the fans" in away games, always, what Ive mentioned above!

Individual talks, as written above, only for negative responses or cocky, overconfident players...

In 2nd leg games: The same, as in general, but sometimes, there isnt the option "Show me what you've got" available, so you change to "We might be winning this leg... don't get complacent" (assertive), or if youre playing at home and you need a win, quite as usual "Do it for the fans!" (assertive).

In final matches: Unless it isnt an away game, which is quite unusual, always "Do it for the fans!" (assertive).

At ht: Now this is the moment, when you need your Ass. manager and coaches...

Always look what your coaches and Ass. manager recommend to you!

If they say, encourage your players, then chose the "Youve played well so far, but there is still room for improvement" (assertive).

If they say, tell the players, youre happy, or they are playing well, then "Youve played well, keep it up" (assertive).

If they say, we should tell them to do it for the fans, then only chose the "Do it for the fans!" (assertive), when its a home game.

In away games, when they tell this, always chose the "Grab that one goal for us, or continue, we can still win this one..." (assertive), so the options in order to encourage your players.

Sometimes, when youre on a good run, they will also tell you, to warn your players against complacency.

Let your Ass. manager do the ht team talk, when he tells you something like that!

If your losing or playing bad and your Ass. manager and coaches share your opinion, then just let your Ass. manager do the ht talk.

Individual talks at ht are very important.

I usually do this system:

For players with the ratings 7.0-7.9 I use the "I have faith in you" (assertive)

For players with ratings 8.0+ "You are playing very well" (passionate)

For players below 6.7, "I am disappointed" (calm).

If anyone has shown a negative response to your general ht team talk, use the individual talks, as Ive mentioned above!

For subs: When I need a goal, "You can make the difference" (passionate).

When Im leading by one goal or 2 goals, "I expect a good performance" (calm).

When Im up by at least 3 goals, then I dont say anything.

Team talks at ft are as important as pregame and ht team talks!

Generally, against weaker oppositions, when you've won, "Well done, I am happy..." (calm)

Against stronger oppositions use the same (assertive)!

If the result was a draw, either "I am disappointed" (calm) or "Well done..." (calm) when the opposition was favourite.

If you've lost the game, either "I am not happy..." (assertive) or "unlucky boys..." (calm) when it was a much stronger opposition.

Sometimes, when youre on a very good run and your players become complacent and your coaches/ass. manager point it out, then dont hesitate to use the "We won this match, but we were poor..." (assertive)!

But dont use it often, as you might anger some players.

Just, when you really had the impression, that this certain game was very awful and your players underestimated the opposition too much.

Usually, for players below 6.7, I take the "I am not happy" (assertive), for players with 8.5+ "You impressed me!" (assertive).

If someone has shown negative response to your general ft team talks and his ratings were better than 7.0, tell him "You were happy" (passionate), otherwise dont say anything, as he didnt deserve a praise!

So all in all, never, but never use the "Do it for the fans" option in away games!

If you follow my team talk instructions, you will get the best results with this tactic, as team talks and morale have a high influence on the performances and results of your team.

Also start your game with the highest manager reputation!

Otherwise, youre getting problems to motivate your players, which is crucial in FM12.

This tactic isnt thought for midseasons, much more should be used, when you start a new save or when you've just finished your season and are in the new season's preparation.

and apart from individual team talks what do you say to the team at full time?

Usually, when I was a very huge favourite, I take the "Well done, I am happy..." (calm) and when it was against a good opposition or when the odds were close, I take the "Well done, I am happy..." (assertive) and the usuall individuall talks.

When Ive lost against a team, which was favourite, I usually take "unlucky guys..." (calm), but if your ass. manager and coaches say, that we should tell them, that their performances were not good enough, I chose the "ask ass. manager to do the team talk" option.

when the match was a draw, considering the opposition, either "well done" when it was a pretty strong opposition, or "I am not happy" (calm) when it was a weaker opposition.
