Haha, I've been having computer trouble lately and unfortunetly i haven't been able to post. Thanks heaps to Chile and Guatemala for the points. Congratulations to Venuzuela for winning this years contest, But i must admit, awsome twist by Paul, It completely foolled me, oh and well done on coming 2nd. Good look to everyone participating this year, and my early prediction for the World Cup is Argentina to beat Portugal in a close final, and I reckon Guatemala could have the contest this year. I and i don't think many others could have predicticted the make it to the finals. Good Luck to all!

The 2009-10 World Cuppers Contest, The Group Stage

    Group A

    Match Day 1 -

    Egypt 0-1 Romania

Ecuador 0-1 Italy - It was a tough game for Ecuador, Alberto Gilardinho put the Italians up after 5 minutes, and Rossi nearly made it 2 when his headed effort from a 20 minute corner narrowly missed. Overall it was a poor match, Italy had 4 shots which only 1 of was on target, whilst Ecuador didn't even have a shot!

    Match Day 2 -

    Italy 1-1 Romania

Ecuador 2-2 Egypt - The scoreline may suggest it was a tight game, but that wasn't really the case. On the stroke of the 6th minute, Christian Benitez had Ecuador's first shot of the tournament, which the goalkeeper pushed out for a corner, nothing came of the corner. 27 minutes into the game Zidan curled a brilliant free-kick for Egypt which must have been at least 40 yards out, despite the terrific effort it was an easy save for the Ecuadorian Goalkeeper. Just seconds before the end of the first half, Hossam Ghaly had a free-kick 30 yards out, but his effort was easily saved by the Ecuadorian Goalkeeper, who then smashed the ball all the way to the other side of the pitch, where an on-side Christian Benitez had only the Goalkeeper to beat, the Goalkeeper pounced on the ball to ruin Ecuador's chances of going in ahead, but before they could think about that Egypt had managed to get the ball to Zidan at the other-side of the pitch, who side-footed it past the Ecuadorian Goalkeeper from just out-side the box meaning Ecuador went into half time, 1-0 down.
2 minutes into the second half, after a string of passes, the ball fell to Shawky who smashed the ball past Mora to make it 2-0 to the Egyptians!
With 20 minutes left Benitez had another counter-attack that turned into a 1-on-1 with the oppositions Goalkeeper, this time, like before, he failed, and the Egyptian pounced on the ball. The First Secret Code is ' Fox Censor'. But with 7 minutes left, it was Benitez who headed home to get a goal back for the Ecuadorians, who now had 7 minutes to equalise and grab an unlikely point. Egypt had just 2 minutes of the 4 extra time to hang on, yet they brought too many players forward for a corner, which lead to Benitez's 3rd counter attacking 1-on-1 with the Egyptian Goalkeeper, it was 3rd time lucky for the Ecuadorian Striker has he lobbed the ball over the Keeper to send his Country into absolute pandemonium!

    Match Day 3 -

    Egypt 0-0 Italy

Romania 1-0 Ecuador - The earlier result meant that Ecuador had to beat Romania in order to qualify for the Knockout stages, Ciprian Marica's 75th minute strike meant that they would be going home, back to Ecuador with just the 1 point.

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPA.jpg

    Group B -

    Match Day 1 -

    Australia 1-1 Scotland

USA 0-4 Brazil - Ronaldinho put Brazil ahead after 4 minutes, smashing it in close range from a Ilsinho cross. Pato made it 2-0 on the 25th minute, scoring a fabulous curling strike from just outside the box. Within 42 seconds of the second half, Diego Souza had made it 3-0 to Brazil. Arouca finished it off, making it 4-0 after heading in from a 75th minute corner. This 4-0 thrashing gave Brazil more than revenge after last years contest.

    Match Day 2 -

Brazil 2-0 Australia - A win would guarantee Brazil a place in the next round. Arouca nearly put Brazil ahead within 58 seconds of the match, but his effort hit the post. 1 minute into first half injury time Breno headed in from a Ronaldinho corner to give Brazil the lead. Brazil left it late to guarantee the win, Adrino smashing it home with just 40 seconds left of second half injury time.

Scotland 1-1 USA - After losing 4-0 to Brazil in the first game, USA were desperate to restore some pride to their Country. James Morrisson gave Scotland the lead after 17 minutes, side-footing the ball past the stranded Goalkeeper. It was Freddy Adu who equalised for USA, with just 18 minutes left of the match, after a Feilhaber set-up, Adu calmly put it past the Goalkeeper. With this result, USA need to beat Australia, and hope Brazil beat Scotland.

    Match Day 3 -

Australia 0-1 USA - It looked like USA wouldn't be going through, until a Gaven and Altidore 1-2, lead to Gaven putting USA 1-0 up, 15 seconds into the 5 added minutes, USA managed to hang on and go through.

Scotland 0-1 Brazil - Rafael Sobis' 9th minute goal meant that Brazil were going through, with all 9 points.

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPB.jpg

    Group C -

    Match Day 1 -

    Russia 0-1 Cameroon

Guatemala 0-1 Germany - Peter Maag put the Germans ahead on the 38th minute, and despite having Hannes Flottman sent off 1 minute later, they managed to hang on to to victory.

    Match Day 2 -

Cameroon 2-0 Guatemala - A loss would mean Guatemala were out, and so they were out. Samuel Eto'o put Cameroon ahead after 34 minutes. It then took until the 92nd minute for another goal to come. Samuel Eto'o penalty was saved, but his rebound wasn't.

    Match Day 3 -

    Cameroon 1-3 Germany

Russia 4-0 Guatemala - With Guatemala already out, the Country was hoping to get some pride back in their last game, this didn't happen. Arshavin's 10th minute goal gave Russia the lead, and on the hour mark he grabbed his second, and Russia's fourth, with the other goals coming from Alexandr Prudnikov and Marat Izmailov.

    Final Table -

    Group D -

    Match Day 1 -

South Korea 1-3 Uruguay - Cavani put Uruguay ahead after 10 minutes, heading in from a Rodriguez cross. Cavani grabbed a second goal 5 minutes before the end of the first half, with a stunning strike from just outside the box. 2 minutes into the second half Seol Ki-Hyeon gave South Korea a glimmer of hope by slotting in a penalty, but this wasn't enough, as Uruguay stayed strong and held onto all 3 points.

    Czech Republic 4-1 South Africa

    Match Day 2 -

    Czech Republic 1-0 South Korea

South Africa 1-0 Uruguay - With Uruguay knowing that a win would put them through, they were fairly confident, but the Hosts not wanting to dissapoint their home fans, gave Uruguay the game of their lives, and thanks to a 14 minute Nasief Morris goal, South Africa defeated Uruguay. Meaning that Uruguay had to get a better result against Czech Republic, than South Africa did against South Korea, but if both games were draws, Uruguay would progress on goal-difference.

    Match Day 3 -

    South Korea 1-1 South Africa

Uruguay 0-0 Czech Republic - Knowing that a draw would keep them in the Competition after the earlier draw, Uruguay played very defensively during the match, and to a great outcome, they went through on goal difference, to become the third All American Nation to make it to the next stage of the Competition.

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPD.jpg

    Group E -

    Match Day 1 -

    Japan 1-3 Portugal

Argentina 1-0 Costa Rica - The game was a fairly tight one, and the only way to seperate the two All American Nations was an 83rd minute Carlos Tevez goal.

    Match Day 2 -

Argentina 3-1 Japan - It took until the second half for any goals to come. Carlos Tevez got the first, his 47th minute strike putting Argentina ahead. Lionel Messi made it 2-0 just 6 minutes later, yet 3 minutes after that Wagner Tabira gave Japan a big chance of getting back into the game. The second secret code is 'The Mummy Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor'. Sergio Aguero finished Japan off with a 92nd minute goal. This victory meant Argentina were the fourth All American Nation to progress to the next round.

Costa Rica 0-2 Portugal - A loss would mean Costa Rica would be out, Hugo Almeida's 6th minute strike, and Cristiano Ronaldo's 45th minute lob shot, meant that Costa Rica would indeed be going out.

    Match Day 3 -

Japan 2-1 Costa Rica - Costa Rica went into the game trying to regain some pride, despite Victor Nunez's 87th minute strike, it wasn't enough as Yasunobu Hayano and Wagner Tabira had already given Japan a comfortable lead.

Portugal 0-1 Argentina - This game was an extremly tight one, only seperated by Maxi Rodriguez's 89th minute strike.

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPE.jpg

    Group F -

    England 1-1 Saudi Arabia

    Ghana 0-1 Poland

    Match Day 2 -

    Saudi Arabia 1-2 Ghana

    Poland 0-1 England

    Match Day 3 -

    England 1-0 Ghana

    Saudi Arabia 2-1 Poland

    Final Table -

    Iran 1-2 Holland

    Match Day 2 -

    Ivory Coast 3-0 Iran

    Holland 2-0 Holland

    Match Day 3 -

    Ivory Coast 1-1 Holland

    Spain 6-1 Holland

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPG.jpg

    Group H -

    Match Day 1 -

Mexico 0-1 France - Nicolas Anelka's 19th minute strike meant that the Mexicans lost their first game of the Competition, and had to win at least 1 of their other 2.

    Denmark 5-0 Senegal

    Match Day 2 -

    Senegal 1-3 France

Denmark 3-1 Mexico - A fairly shocking result for All America, Soren Larsen had put the Danish ahead within the first 2 minutes, yet Giovani dos Santos had equalised on the hour mark. It looked like it would finish 1-1, but 2 injury time goals from Morten Skoubo meant Mexico were out.

    Match Day 3 -

    France 1-1 Denmark

    Mexico
0-1 Senegal - Pa**** Cisse's 12th minute goal, finished off Mexico's humiliating World Cup campaign.

    Final Table -

    http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...PERSGROUPH.jpg

    Second Round

    USA
0-1 Romania - A Florin Bratu 88th minute strike knocked the USA out of the competition.

Italy 1-2 Brazil - Alberto Aquilani put Italy up after 34 minutes, yet 2 later goals from Lucio and Robinho, meant the All American Nation were through to the next round.

Uruguay 1-3 Germany - A 77th minute Ribair Rodriguez goal was not enough, after earlier goals from Eike Zimmermann and 2 penalties from Johannes Muller.

    Cameroon 1-0 Czech Republic

Saudia Arabia 0-3 Argentina - Goals from Esteban Cambiasso, Lionel Messi and a Maxi Rodriguez penalty, meant Argentina were the second All American Nation to go through to the quarter finals.

England 0-0 Portugal (Portugal Win 4-3 on Penalties)

    Holland 1-2 France

    Denmark 2-3 Spain

    Quarter-Finals

    Romania 2-1 Cameroon

    Brazil
3-2 Germany (AET) - After a goal from Lucio, and a late equaliser from Peter Maag meant the two sides went into the extra 30 minutes. An own goal from Matthias Romer made it 2-1 to Brazil, and Anderson made it 3-1 2 minutes later. Despite a 111th goal from Peter Maag, Brazil still made it through.

Argentina 0-1 Spain - The game was going into the extra 30 minutes, but an unbelievable twist came along when Fernando Torres scored to put Spain through with just 18 seconds of the game left.

    Portugal 0-2 France

    Semi Finals

    Romania 0-4 France

Brazil 3-1 Spain - Likewise in their game against other All American Nation Spain grabbed a very late goal, but this time it was nothing but a consolation, as 2 goals from Adriano and 1 from Lucio meant that Brazil would be going to the final.

    3rd Place Playoff

    Romania 0-3 Spain

    Final

France 2-0 Brazil - Djibril Cisse put France ahead after 26 minutes with a stunning shot from just outside the box. Ronaldinho had a great chance to equalise on 38 minutes, but he blasted his penalty over the bar. 3 minutes later it was a penalty for Cisse, and he didn't miss his, making it 2-0, and France once again, were World Champions.

Well, that was the 2010 World Cup, Everyone has until Midnight Tuesday to vote, when you vote please give the 2 secret codes so I know that you have read everything.

I'm gonna miss Guatemala winning it Off until the 20th.

Also if we don't win, it should be taken into account that Argentina and Costa Rica didn't vote so should be penalised :P
