will this PC run FM2012

i'm probably only gonna us this pc for watching movies listening to music, work etc..... football manager will be the only game i will be playing on pc since i have a xbox 360 and ps3 for games like battlefield 3, skyrim etc......

but i want 5 star rating on 3d match viewer, computer performance and game speed, so will it be capable of this? also is the graphics card good enough to run the 3d viewer on the highest settings? according to the product details section it is a 3GB dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 545 graphics card.

and will i be able to upgrade this pc in future like more RAM or better graphics card if need be? and do you think it will be able to run future FM games???

It's a good computer. It will play FM no problem at all. The graphics card is good enough for FM. But it's not a great graphics card. But you can update that at a later stage if you wanted to, but for FM there's no real need to.

I think you could have answered this question by either a) looking at the minimum specs for the game (or even the recommended) b) reading other posts on this topic.

If you are on a budget and are looking to only play FM I highly recommend you do not buy this as there are much better value for money systems on the market.

i suggest using a website to "build it yourself" and get the specs needed for FM without all the extra rubbish you do not need.

Something along the lines of 4 gigs of 1333 RAM, i5 2XXX series and a HDD big enough for your movies.

I suggest putting the money into a decent monitor and sound system (7.1) so you can enjoy the movies more.

He obviously doesn't know enough about computers and if they could build one themselves I'm sure he wouldn't have even asked the question here.

The chap wants that computer, and there's nothing wrong with it. It's a good computer, and way better than an i5 with 4gb of Ram.

So he can put the money into sound and the monitor so he can enjoy his movies better, FM does not need much more processing power than an i5 really. i7 is much more niche as described in other threads.

I think 6GB of RAM would be best but 4 would be sufficient as a minimum.

thanks eugene, i just want a machine good enough to run FM 2012 and a few future release of FM comfortably..... i know there are better graphics card out there but do you think it's worth getting something like a nvidia GTX 590 just for football manager? i just want something that will give me a 5 star 3d match viewer rating. do you think the nvidia 545 will be capable of that? cheers for all the help mate

With desktops over-buying is not such an issue as it is with laptops as they are quite a bit more durable and eventually it probably will come handy even if now it isn't (unless the person has the habit of changing PCs often). 2500K and 4 GB should be enough for normal multimedia and office computers and if you are not going to use for anything tougher it might be an overkill and money can be spent on audio, monitors, etc..Either way it's fine with desktops imho.

From what he said, I'd personally go with 2500K, integrated graphics, 4 GB and maybe about 750 GB - 1 TB of HDD as all those should save plenty of cash for nice extras on top of the actual PC

Comes out at 600 quid from pcspecialist...comes with a nice sound card and all the hardware you'd need if FM is going to be the heaviest application on it...400 quid can be spent on plenty of fancy gadgets (hell, you can get a laptop and play on it in your sofa )

Good suggestion alexyfoot, I think you can also get sound setups from places like that but I am not sure about value for money in them, the monitor makes a big difference as you will need a good size one for movie watching and pathetic speakers can ruin the movie experience.

No need to worry about response time with monitors, go for a more TV like one if possible, it will be fine for FM and alike.

5 star graphics is not difficult to acheive and a decent budget card is sufficient, not sure about onboard but no need to spend more than £40 on one seperatly, its more about what it can do for your movies really but thats not my area where as gaming graphics is.

Btw, the benchmarking thread already showed an overclocked 2500K performs at the same level (or even better) as i7 2600 for FM12 so why waste money on it when even the 2500k is overkill for just FM and will surely still be productive enough in at least the next 6-7 years. The integrated graphics has no effect on video quality. Movies will be as good as they get currently. Any external video will be overkill if no other games will be played.

Roker- laptops last that long, from such desktop processor you can expect at least 5 unless something breaks down. If you want to be on the safe side you can put 6 GB RAM (you can put it at 1600 MHz as it will be faster than the standard 1333 MHz - pcspecialist lets you choose whatever you want, that's why I prefer custom configs rather than ready ones as in pcworld) and you won't need to upgrade for ages.

Im not the guy to ask! I am only knowledgeable about gaming but I felt you wanted more of an entertainment centre PC rather than a gaming PC.

I am sure someone else will chip in with some help.

For monitors though I probably could help unless you already have one that is suitable.

If sound is a problem make sure you get the case sound insulated! you dont want a noisy PC ruining a movie! Which means avoiding overclocking as you will want to keep fans at a quiet setting, you can get a fan controller which I suggest you get the supplier to advise you on.

If your just gonna play FM12 then this PC is way above what you need. This is a PC that can run most modern games on maxed graphics so if you want a PC for FM12 only go down a notch.

Some people genuinly don't have a clue about computers and ask genuine questions. Now, whether they listen to advice afterwards is completely different topic

As already stated sometimes spending more money isn't worth it.

Start with an i5 2500k processor as its value compared to the higher priced i7's is definitely worth it. Then take 4GB ram and a 500gb+ hard drive. The graphics card is then optional but the 3000 integrated with the processor will run FM no problem.

I would also recommend a independant PC builder over the high street. As i've mentioned elsewhere Cougar Extreme get my vote (Google it).

I've given you an optimum one for you above (and 2 people already agreed with my proposal as far as I can see) but obviously it is custom-build. If you want a branded one, I am sure you can find one as this is quite a standard config - just look for the same processor (2500K) and 4 or 6 GB RAM + integrated graphics. You will have to pay a few quid extra for the brand name obviously
