SC Farense is a Portuguese football club based in Faro, Portugal. The club was founded in 1910 and currently play in the Liga ZON Sagres, the top division of Portuguese football. Farense plays its home matches at the 48,750 all-seater Eriksen Arena in Faro, the largest stadium in Southern Portugal. The team is managed by José dos Santos Santana, the clubs most successful and longest serving manager, and also the second most successful Portuguese manager ever, and captained by Cheikh Dione. Farense is the most successful club in the Algarve having won 7 Primeira Ligas, 8 Taça de Portugals, a record 11 League Cups, 9 Supertaças, 3 Liga de Honra and one Portuguese Second Division - South. Farense have also had success in Europe winning the UEFA Champions League twice in 2039 and 2041, the UEFA Europa League in 2040 and the UEFA Super Cup in 2039 and 2040. The club suffered a series of misfortunes on and off the field, suffering 3 relegations in a row starting in 2001/02 before being disqualified from the league in 2005/06 for finanical dificulities, but have since returned to the Primeira Liga.
