Nope, it's very unlikely for any team to loan me players who are good enough to play at this level for free. I couldn't get any last season!

I haven't left yet and I will think it over. The club is starting to get a pesonality but I feel I am massively overachieving and it might be better to let someone else have a go.

Invest that wisely

It's going to be a tough season ahead, but not impossible. You might also get a job offer from a bigger club throughout the course of the season, so could jump ship mid-season if it's turning out to be a car crash.

I'd consider heading on if the board isn't showing the ambition required to achieve your targets. Depends what you think you can do and what you could do elsewhere.

I will make my complete decision tomorrow. Unless someone can convince me otherwise I am going. I have brought players into the club that mean if they are relegated they should go back up again, all thats needed is a board with more money/ambition.

From Russia With Love

After a short spell unemployed I was offered the job of rescuing Metalurg D from relegation, a good budget and wage has convinced me to make the move to the Ukraine!

We shouldn't be propping up the table and I will see about it that we aren't! The Argentinian is an amazing player, making 23 apperances for River at 17, we brought him for £2.6m and I know already that it was well spent. The league is tight with 2 points separating 8th and 16th! Hopefully a good run can push us up and possibly to Europe if we are lucky! Most of the "big" teams have been played so it is just a case of restoring some form to the side.

We have money to spend and I am allowed, I think I will be forced to be successful to survive though.

Rising From The Ashes

Squad | Results | League Table

The squad on the face of it should be good. However I didn't realise that there was a squad size limitation of 25 players in your squad, of which 6 have to be home grown (or spaces left). This means that I have 19 players and youths to use, I am still soldiering on though and we seem in good form. A couple of the players are not too chuffed with one asking me to pay him to leave, no that just won't happen.

On the plus side our form since I arrived (the red line) has been great! We should be 5th on the current form and hopefully we can keep it going. It worries me how we will cope with better opposition (I am looking at you Shakhtar) but with the addition of some new younger strikers we stand a chance.

I took the chance to buy in some young talent who will class as home grown for the club in future, this should hopefully improve the club even after I have left. Our financial situation isn't great, I am just hoping to board puts in some money.

A Failed Assault on Europe

Squad | Tactics

The squad will have to shrink due to the stupid league registration rule, 25 players in your whole squad is very restricting. I am always looking for new strikers to add as all the the good strikers are over the age of 30, not the kind of player who can play high level poacher really. The players fit well into my 4-4-2, I am trying desperately to sort our defence out as we seem to get guilty about being in the lead and gift them a goal far too often for my liking.

Our form was very good since I joined, when I joined we were rock bottom last. We managed to pick ourselves up to 4th but taking on 2nd, 1st then 4th took it's toll and saw us drop to 6th. The only team in the top 7 to not get into Europe, the team is good and with a bit of added talent should see us push on further.

On the cup side, we very nearly won the Cup, well nearly for me! We should have won the cup game, that saw the start of us switching off at the end of the season.

We are massively under budget but in huge debt, my hopes lay with the board and hoping that they give me a nice budget next year, I would stay if there was a minor cut but a major one and I'm off!

Interesting move to Donetsk, and a good first season in Ukraine. You might be interested to know that British managers in the former Soviet Union are getting more common than their Russian counterparts - Alex Miller has just taken over at Sibir Novosibirsk, so you're not on your own out there!

I have decided to stay, I have sold some players who were getting too big for there boots. Instead I have brought in several equally good players on lower wages and for less money. Next time shut up and deal with it.

The media think we suck, I don't. I hate the media.

I would say we need to trim the squad but it would be more accurate to say we need to deforest. We can have 25 players so we have 40 odd!

Two friendlies at the end of last season to keep the players fit, nothing special.

As you can see we have been boring, a season with the form we had at the end of last season and I will be more than happy. So no need to change too much, 3 out 2 in hopefully.

I am very happy with the previous managers decision to buy him, he is obviously my starting DL (when fit) he fits in with the other 3 Argentine players we now have under the age of 20. Two of which start in the Argentine U20's!

I had the chance to change my expectations for the season, although I feel we can do better I don't need more budget so I might as well be safe.

I am trying to invest for the future, I want the club to be able to challenge for a long time after I have left. Some of the youth players are even getting a run out in some the easier matches.

We went on a 15 game unbeaten run including playing Shakhtar once! The streak was actually the longest this year, thus far, as Shakhtar tripped up 2 games previous. I am incredibly happy with where we are and honestly wasn't expecting it. Who says a good defence doesn't pay off?

Only just into the red but i feel that it's a worthy trade off for our current league position. I have found some true bargains and cut down the squad well.

I don't change it, almost always reserve transfer activity for pre-season and you don't get too much of a boost in budgets anyway, especially if you don't have much left in the first place.

We are worse this season overall, or our bets players have got better. I am with the first statement in all honesty. The tactics haven't really changed, I use a more control based one for when I am losing or just generally sucking.

Our prowess at defence is incredible, except when we have scored, when we score we concede. In the league we only lost twice, in all honesty we should have lost far more times and it is only due to some incredible individual talent that we didn't. Only Shakhtar were better than us, however they were much better than us, 6 points off is flattering as they should have been at least 12 clear.

The cup was going well until we decided to give other people a chance at glory.

I'd stay, isn't the point of the career to travel across Eastern Europe, well Germany isn't going to be Eastern Europe unless you manage some East Germany team like Dynamo Dresden or Magdeburg and those are a major step down from Metalurg in the Champions.

Then again I'm the guy who started a FMCU career based on emulating Barcelona and got bored of it after 3 seasons, still going on 20 seasons later, so who knows, just do what's fun for you even if it ruins the thread's concept.

The board cut the wage budget by £2k per week, which I am fine with. However they cut my transfer budget by £3.15m. That is not on for a side that will be playing Champions League football. Therefore I immediately handed in my resignation in disgust. My assistant even followed me out even though Metalurg was he last club he played for.
