A truly outstanding January in the league.

Also love the look of Alvino and Amoruso. Pity you won't be around to see them develop.

    SRL88's Career - February 2044 - AC Milan

    Serie A

Another very, very good month as our fine run of form continues. We kicked things off with a cracking win at home to Lazio before an equally as good win away to Juventus. A poor performance against Pro Vercelli followed but we somehow managed to pinch a 1-0 win. A very comfortable win over Modena followed before rounding the month off with a good win away to Bologna.

    February 2044 - Continued

    Coppa Italia Semi-Final 1st Leg

Unlike last year we managed to get a positive result in the first leg to give us the advantage. We put in a solid performance and led 3-1 at one stage. Palermo pushed to get back into the game and despite pulling one back, we held on for a very good win.

Champions League First Knockout Round 1st Leg

A brilliant performance in Madrid as we take a massive advantage into the second leg. We were excellent both defensively and offensively as we pulled off a fabulous 2-1 win.

Can't wait for you to start Fm13 especially with Dafuge and AcidBurn doing career threads this year also. I may have to have a go at it.

    SRL88's Career - March 2044 - AC Milan

    Serie A

A pretty solid month despite losing our first game since November (coincidently also against Fiorentina). We started the month with a straight forward win over Pescara before a trip to Novara which saw us grab a solid victory. This was followed up with a good win at home to bottom side Avellino. The month was rounded off with defeat away to Fiorentina. We were not at our best and probably deserved defeat, but we still have a decent gap between ourselves & Palermo, despite them having a game in hand.

    April 2044 - Continued

    Coppa Italia Semi-Final 2nd Leg

This was a very, very tough game against Palermo, but we managed to get the job done. We took the lead in the game, but Palermo hit back and forced the game from there on. As they pressed, we scored against the run of play from a corner to effectively seal the tie. The Final will see us face a Fiorentina side who we havent beaten this season.

Champions League First Knockout Round 2nd Leg & Quater-Final 1st Leg

Well we ended up breezing past Real Madrid with a cracking performance at the San Siro. We started slowly, but soon found our feet to grab a pretty dominant win. This set up a tie against Liverpool, and in the first leg which was a very tight affair, Raoul Bond grabbed the only goal of the game to give us a slender advantage. The winners of the tie will face either Arsenal or Marseille in the Semi-Final.

    SRL88's Career - April 2044 - AC Milan

    Serie A

An excellent month for us at just the right time as we close in on the Serie A title. The month started with an excellent performance against Roma who we hit for seven. This was followed up with a very good win away to Torino before a solid win against our rivals Inter. Going into the Palermo game they had the opportunity to close in on us with a game in hand, and despite taking the lead they went down to 10 men in the second half. This gave us the advantage and we finally grabbed a goal with just minutes remaining to grab a massive point. Raoul Bond was on form against Siena as we ran riot once again.

    Champions League Quater-Final 2nd Leg and Semi-Final

Two brilliant ties for us!!! At Anfield we were really up against it in the first half as Liverpool took the game to us, but in the second half we eased into the game and scored with 15 minutes remaining to seal the tie. The Semi-Final was a brilliant tie. We destroyed Marseille in the first leg at the San Siro, but the second leg was an excellent game of football. Truely end-to-end, a 4-4 draw occured as we reached our second Final in a row where we will face Sampdoria.

    Coppa Italia Final

    Route to Rome

    AC Milan

A solid run to the Final for us. We breezed through the first round before battling for victory over Sampdoria after 120 minutes of play. The Semi-Final once again saw us face Palermo, but we managed to muscle past them, winning both legs.

    Fiorentina

A very impressive run by our opponents. They thumped both Genoa and Roma to set up a tie against Inter. Despite losing the first leg in Milan, they destroyed them in the return leg to book their place in the Final.

    The Match

A very one sided tie which see's us lift the Coppa Italia once again. We were excellent in the first half, scoring two goals in quick succession. A third was added close to half-time before we added another just after. We saw the game through from there on to clinch a brilliant result in the Final.

    Final

    Route to the Final

    Group Stage

I said when the draw was made that I wanted four wins & a draw and that is exactly what we got. This was a very good group stage for us, especially considering there were some very tough ties included. I was delighted with how we performed throughout.

    Knockout Stage

A very good Knockout Stage too. This was much tougher than last season for us. We were excellent over the two legs against Real Madrid and ended up battering them. The Liverpool ties were very tough indeed. We were given a very tough battle, but managed to come through both ties by winning 1-0. We were excellent against Marseille and really took the game to them in the first leg, allowing us to take a massive advantage. An excellent game in France saw a 4-4 draw, but we marched into the Final.

    The Match

Delighted, absolutely delighted. This was such a tough tie but we battled all the way. Sampdoria took the lead but we pegged them back. Despite giving a penalty away not long after levelling things, it was saved to go in at the interval level. We added two goals in the second half, and despite Sampdoria pulling one back, we held on to claim our second Champions League in a row.

    SRL88's Career - May 2044 - AC Milan

    Serie A

A pretty good end to the season, despite that defeat against Sampdoria which allowed Palermo to close in on us. We sealed the league title with the 3-0 win over Napoli which really allowed us to relax against Genoa, and it showed as we played some lovely stuff and won 7-0.

    Coppa Italia Final

An excellent performance in such a big game. We were brilliant in the Final and absolutely ripped Fiorentina apart, scoring four goals in the process to lift the Coppa Italia.

    Champions League Final

A very, very tough game between two big sides, but we managed to get the better of our opponents. We had to come from a goal down, also saving a penalty when level at 1-1. We added two goals in the second half before they pulled one back, but we held on for victory.

A very big for retaining the Champions League - how many teams have managed that over the course of this save?

    SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2043/44 - AC Milan

    Serie A - Results 1 - Results 2 (1st - CHAMPIONS)

Really pleased to have retained our crown. This was much tougher than last season as we didnt click instantly. We were slow out of the blocks, and often not at our best. We battled on though, and found form after Christmas. We were crowned champions with the 3-0 win over Napoli.

    Coppa Italia (Winners)

A very good competition for us. We scored very good wins over Sampdoria & Palermo before dominating the Final which saw us beat Fiorentina 4-0.

    Champions League (Winners)

This was the big one for me this season as it was so difficult to retain due to the path we had. We did exactly as I wanted in the group stage, winning four and drawing two to finish top. In the knockout phase we dominated Real Madrid before battling past Liverpool. We then played two excellent encounters before beating Sampdoria 3-2 in the Final.

    Italian Super Cup (Winners)

A cracking way to start the season with a 3-1 win over Palermo.

    UEFA Super Cup (Winners)

Despite dominating we were taken to Extra-Time but found the net in the end to win 2-0.

    World Club Championship (Winners)

Two very comfortable performances, including in the Final which we won 2-0.

    Transfers - Finances

I spent big this year to try and build the club up for the future and feel I achieved that.
    The finances are just bonkers.

    Squad

After two and a half years I feel I have finally built an amazing squad. This club could go forward for years and years. I feel truely blessed to have worked with such a talented set of players.

    My Top 3 Players

Andre Bos - An ever present. Such a vital part of this team, and he was excellent down the right all season.
Ender Seker - 18 goals from AM. Not bad at all.
Raoul Bond - Despite missing a few month of the season through injury, he was by far our best player, and top scorer. Just brilliant.

    SRL88's Career - May/June 2044 - England

    European Championship Warm-Up Friendlies

Not the best two performances by all means, but it was still nice to win two games heading into a major tournament. We dominated both but just struggled in front of goal. We did however find the net at the right times to seal the wins.

A shame it dodn't work out for you in the Euro, but a great finish at club level.
Only conceding 20 in the league is amazing. Phenomenal win ratio too.

I guess we will all be able to see your FM13 exploits here.

Thanks but I meant have any other clubs managed to win back to back Champions League titles in this save (and I see now from the summery that Bayern and Atletic Madrid did ). Anyway, a great achievement!

Unlucky in the Euros - a shame the career came to an end in the second round.

And I love the use of the 'retire from football?' screenshot. A nice finishing touch

Cheers for all the comments guys. They are much appreciated. I will be buying FM13 at some point tomorrow and I will most likely have it installed at some point tomorrow night.

I'm still unsure as of yet what I am doing for my career, so any suggestions are welcome.

I can't really add anything to what everyone else has already said; this really has been epic, and as you know already was the inspiration for my own thread.

When my FM12 career comes to a close, if i recieve half as much positive feedback as you have, I'll be happier than a pig in ****.

How about trying to win each continent's equivalent of the Champions League? That's what I'm considering doing once a few additional league files for Oceania and Africa are available.

I am starting unemployed and attempting to make Brazil the best international team again, by bringing through players in the Uk and Ireland and also Brazil itself. You could attempt to bring back a fallen giant by doing this.

Well done on a great career! Shame England let you down at the end, but in no way does this subtract from the level of success you've achieved

Hope you get your FM13 inspiration soon!

Congratulations lad, if it was half as fun to play as it was to follow then you really have got the most out of this game!

Caught up with the final 2 years. That was total domination with Milan, well done indeed and finishes your club career on a very very high note. Bit bad you ended Gladbach's dreams in that first CL final though.

It was a tremendously successful career - double Champions Leagues with 3 different clubs of 3 different nations, Copa Libertadores and a World Cup! That's a more complete record than any real life manager in history, and one of the most complete across the forums I'm certain of that.

Shame it didn't end with what would be a fitting Euros with England but the joy of FM is that it's not only a story of glory, glory feels better knowing a setback can be just around the corner, and it happens to the best managers too.

Wow. I just wanted to say that I've spent the past three days reading this story and that was quite amazing. As someone who does crap in FM, this was a great read. Thank you so much for spending the time to write it on top of playing it, too.

Just thought I'd quickly comment that this was an absolutely epic career. Must have been really hard to hit that 'retire' button!

Just about to head over to your FM13 thread to follow there.

Cheers Crouchy . Vastly appreciated comment from a seasoned vet like yourself.

I had kind of prepared myself for 'retirement' so it wasnt to difficult. With all the FM13 thread being created I was getting anxious to start FM13.

Bringing up an old thread here, but it just happens to be the finest one I've ever come across. Absolutely amazing dude - an unbelievable journey which I've been addicted to for a week. I think I started last Monday morning and I've just finished it up now. I've never known anything like it and I'm so happy to have spent my time reading it, it was very rewarding and I've learnt from it too. I've not bought an FM since FM10, and I'm going to be buying FM13 to try and emulate - poorly of course - your career on FM12 and your FM13 save, which I look forward to catching up with - haven't read anything else since I started this last week, so will read and catch up with that soon. Perhaps once I've got some work done as this has been a massive distraction

I just need to bring myself to stop playing my Havant and Waterlooville save on FM07 heh ;-)

Haha, well I'm actually on the forums to carry on reading it Tom. Saw you were a regular poster in this thread so thought I'd have a read - enjoying it, started it yesterday morning. You're having an outstanding debut season with Swansea at present...

Read this over the past few nights and it was awesome. Just a shame you didnt go to France to stop Lyon from getting 14 in a row. Think thats the only thing you missed in Europe. Despite that, well done, it was a great read.
