SRL88's Career - Pre-Season - 2034/35 - Boca Juniors
Friendlies
Not the best of pre-season's in terms of results but the performances were very pleasing, especially against such big opponents. To have pretty much held Inter, Porto and Trabzonspor to a draw showed how good we are. We also drew with Penarol and grabbed a brilliant win over Espanyol.
Transfers - In
German Bolzan - Free - An excellent free transfer. Will add lots of experience to our side.
Juan Carlos Soto - Loan - Brought in on loan as a back-up in the right back position. Something we lacked last season.
Jose Luis Garcia - Loan - Another player brought in as a back-up.
Martin Galvan - Loan - An excellent prospect at Inter Milan. Certainly a player who I would like to aid in the development of.
Mauro Parrado - Free - A cracking free transfer. Will add a lot of quality to our side.
Transfers - Out
A few departures during the transfer window, but the main talking points are the sales of Mauricio Bermudez and Marcos Novgorosky. Bermudez has spent most of his two years at the club injured and when Schalke came in with a £10.5m offer I found it impossible to reject. The sale of Novgorosky annoyed me though. Genoa put a bid in which matched a release clause and I just couldnt reject it. When he negotiated his contract he insisted on it being in. I am gutted to lose him.
Good pre season results especially playing against top sides. Good transfer in and out![]()
Oh Parrado is going to score bags for you. Was he released or just decided not to re-sign?
Cheers fella. I am really pleased with how pre-season went.
I am looking forward to unleashing Parrado, I must say. I put him on my shortlist at the start of last season, and as soon as it had 6 months left to run I offered him a contract ASAP and snapped him up.
Well done on your world cup victory, hope to achieve what you have thus far in my save.
SRL88's Career - August 2034 - Boca Juniors
Apertura
Just the one game in August, but what a game it was as we got off to a fantastic start in the Apertura. A fantastic performance resulted in a very nice 5-1 win on the opening day for us.
Recopa
Well luckily for us, away goals didnt come into effect. We were poor in the first leg and had to come from behind to get a 1-1 draw. The second leg was very end to end, but we managed take the game to penalties. In what was a poor penalty shoot-out, we won 3-1 to lift the Recopa.
Great work in winning the World Cup, especially after the shaky group stage.
Having said that, your final win wasn't as dramatic as mine!![]()
A bit more cheap advertising here guys. Following my success with Brazil at the World Cup, I have decided to create another thread in the Tactics Forum. If you wish to look at it then go over. If you are lazy, it is here:
Giving you a bit of Brazilian Magic
SRL88's Career - September 2034 - Brazil
Friendlies
Two cracking wins to follow up on our success at the World Cup. We were brilliant in an attacking fashion against the Czech's, but probably didnt have as much of the play as I would have liked. A very solid display against Russia followed and despite breezing into a 2-0 lead, they gave us a tough game afterwards. We managed to hold tight and despite a late goal, we managed to come away with a brilliant 2-1 win.
This is some very interesting news indeed.
Great World Cup!
SRL88's Career - September 2034 - Boca Juniors
Apertura
A truely excellent month as our 100% start to the season continues. A cracking 1-0 win away to Banfield was followed up with what will definitely be the win of the season. Our biggest rivals for trophies All Boys gave us a good game, but ultimately we got the win, an excellent 2-1 win. We faced yet another tricky away fixture in our next encounter but a Luis De Leon penalty was enough to give us the win. The month was rounded off with two solid 3-0 wins as we have a nice little gap at the top of the table after just six games.
Excellent start to the season, hopefully you can keep that form up and take the Apertura.
I cant say I am surprised at this really, can I?
Hernan Ojeda possible new manager? Isn't he a former player of yours?
Ahhaaaa. Someone does pay attention to my thread.
Yeah he is. I signed him for Liverpool, then sold him to Atletico and managed him in my two seasons there. Half-way through my first season with Boca I signed him again and he is now on the coaching staff with me at Boca.
I remember it all regarding him. Don't know why but it's just stuck in me.![]()
So the clubs takeover is complete by an Italian Consortium. Looking at these messages, this is truely fantastic times for Boca as a club. There looks to be plenty of money in the pockets of the owners and they dont look shy to spend it. On a personal note, I am slightly worried about my future!!!
I've never had a club takeover end in my firing before. Hopefully you keep your job as they seem to want to pump money into the club!
Unless your me (once fired after a takeover!),you should be safe due to success and a brilliant start to the season![]()
I often have those messages when it's that sort of takeover, even I think at Milan! However always been alright.
What an awful decision if they do sack you after all you have done! Italians will probably put in an Italian manager and then buy a load old has been Italian players, bit like Watford are trying in real life :P
Managed to get myself to the Brazilian State Championship semi final which was a bit of shock, especially as I dumped out Santos on pens in the quarters but ultimately went out on pens against Sao Paulo in the semis! Still happy considering the dreadful start to my career
Forever tinkering with my formation tho, sometimes my poacher and advanced player will be in the game and sometimes they don't get a sniff
Well you would have to use them in the spine of your team, buffon, nesta, pirlo and del piero should do the trick, even tho they are oaps on your game probably
Think I will packing my bags and seeking pastures new at end of my contract, this Portuguese language is hard to grasp!
Intereting stuff with the takeover. Will be interesting to see what they decide to do with you.
Let the work commence.
At least I know I am staying in a job.
2035 Copa America Draw
Always odd the United States is in every Copa America I see. Aren't they supposed to be an invitation team?
According to Wikipedia, there are 10 teams in CONMEBOL and 12 that contest the Copa America, which means 2 teams are invited every time. The next tournament is in 2015, and the invited countries are Mexico and Japan. Perhaps it's too difficult for SI to accommodate invitations to Confederation Championships, and so they've picked 2 as a permanent fixture? Wonder who the other is?
Erm Mexico, perhaps?![]()
Well Japan have appeared before (in 1999, and apparantly withdrew last year where they were meant to appear again). Still an odd choice but not a mistake on the part of the game to have them at all.
They withdrew because of the disaster last year. I've seen England contest the Copa América in (I think) FM11 so if they haven't got the invitational thing working this year I'd be surprised, because they obviously had it in the past.
SRL88's Career - October 2034 - Boca Juniors
Apertura
Another brilliant month for us as we move ever closer to recapturing the Apertura. October kicked off with the most dominant 1-0 win I have ever seen. We had over 30 shots to their none but just couldnt grab a second. A nice win over Argentinos followed before we lost our winning start at home to Belgardo. Despite our dominance we just couldnt score and they shocked the home crowd with a goal against the run of play. Luckily for us we went straight up the other end to level things up and thats how it stayed. We bounced back in style with a nice 2-0 win before a cracking 3-2 victory away to Union. The month was rounded off with a comfortable 3-0 win over rivals River Plate to leave us 9pts clear at the top of the table.
Copa Sudamericana 1st Round
A very disappointing defence to our Sudamericana crown. We dominated both legs but just struggled to convert our chances into goals. We were our own worst enemy as we crash out at the first hurdle.
Thats two in a row for me.
I am beginning to like this baord.
Really flying in the league, Audax are a minor blip.
Nice to see you kept your job.
Also going along excellently in the Apertura.![]()
SRL88's Career - November 2034 - Brazil
Friendlies
Two solid wins to round off the year as we went the whole of 2034 unbeaten. We were made to work hard by the Belgians who took the lead in the game and although we were the better side, we had to rely on a late header from Fernando to give us the win. Despite a tight 1-0 scoreline against the Fins, we were dominant throughout. I gave a lot of players the opportunity to impress and it was a former player of mine from Atletico, Lucas who gave us the win with his first International goal.
SRL88's Career - November 2034 - Boca Juniors
Apertura
Another cracking month as we close in on the Apertura. We started November with a sluggish performance away to Lanus and we were lucky to get away with a draw. A brilliant performance at home to Racing Club gave us a 4-0 win. Our next game away to Rosario really annoyed me. We were fantastic in the first half and went in at the interval leading 4-0. What the hell happened in the second half I dont know. We were shocking and really lucky that we only conceded three goals. I flipped at full time, really having a go at the team because I wasnt happy at all. Luckily though, that seemed to have some effect as we destroyed Velez in our final game of the month to leave us sat nicely at the top of the table.
A clean sweep of awards as I make it three Manager of the Month Awards in a row.
All Boys have really slipped since their coach reitred. Bit easy for you this time around!
Well it was only a matter of time:
I just thought this was well worth posting.
SRL88's Career - December 2034 - Boca Juniors
Apertura
A mixed end to the season. It would have been nice to finish the Apertura unbeaten but its not to important. The game which sealed the title was the 1-1 draw with Godoy Cruz. We comfortably beat Quilmes in our next game before a 2-1 defeat against local rivals San Lorenzo, despite our dominance.
Copa Argentina 5th Round
I rested a lot of players in this game, thinking we would have more than enough to beat the lower level opposition. That wasnt to be though and after 90 minutes it went to penalties. The first 10 penalties were all scored, but they missed the first penalty in sudden death and we scored to move into the 6th Round.
Bit of a scare in the CopaAt least you move on.
Congrats on the Apertura
Leonardo is good but he's no Chris Ord![]()
IRL, there's talks of Copa America in 2015 as planned, with another one in 2016 to celebrate 100 years of CONMEBOL. Only that one would be a joint CONMEBOL-CONCACAF tournament of 16 teams hosted by the US.

SRL88's Career - Mid-Season Update - 2034/35 - Boca Juniors
Friendlies
Some very good mid-season friendlies for us. We put in some very strong displays. We were amonst the goals against some good opposition and sends us into the Clausura in very good spirit.
Transfers - In
Alejandro Hailant - £1m - A very solid signing for us. I opted to sign a right wingers during the window because I have mainly been playing Luis De Leon there when I would rather him be on the left hand side.
Copa Libertadores Group Stage Draw
I am really pleased with this draw. Although Chivas will provide a stern test, this should be a pretty comfortable passage for us.
Comfortable? If I was a fan and you didn't get through that, I'd be hiring a hit man!![]()
Quite an easy group,if you fail in that then you deserved to be fired.
SRL88's Career - February 2035 - Boca Juniors
Clausura
A solid yet unspectacular start to the Clausura. We kicked things off with a tough trip to Colon where we were by far the better team, but we were our own worst enemy by missing numerous chances. We managed to battle our way into a two goal lead but Colon made it a nervy finish but we hung on for a 2-1 win. Our next game against All Boys was typical of the competitive rivalry we have built up in the last 2 1/2 years. It was a pretty fiesty affair with a few sendings off, but we managed to battle our way to a 1-0 win. Against Banfield, despite racing into a 2-0 lead but our performance levels dropped which allowed them to come back into the game and grab a point.
February 2035 - Continued
Copa Libertadores
A cracking start to the Libertadores as expected. We were brilliant all game and thoroughly deserved our 7-0 win.
Thats the easy one done.
Come on Chivas!![]()
Sounds like you have a few detractors there, SRL88![]()
Is there no Suruga Bank Championship in the game? As the winner of the Copa Sudamericana qualifies for three additional tournaments in real life. These being the Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana and the Suruga Bank Championship.
Very easy draw in the Libertadores.
Well done on claiming the Apertura. 20+ years on and it looks like River still haven't recovered from their relegation a couple of years ago.
Good start to the Clausura and well done on beating All Boys.As for the Copa Lib,nice simple victory to get you started.
Nasty gits arent they.
Never heard of the competition and I havent played on it so I am guessing not??
As long as we learn to stop throwing away silly goals.
Cheers fella.
I wouldnt go that far. They have had a few second place finishes in the 2010's and even managed to win both the Aperura and the Clausura. They had a few third place finishes during much of the 2020's but has since dropped off.
Cheers BWG.
SRL88's Career - March 2035 - Boca Juniors
Clausura
A mixed month, but we are still going along alright in the Clausura. We were poor away to Inderpendiente and they thoroughly deserved their win. We bounced back with a massive win over Newell's. We went into the final 10 minutes heading for defeat but two late goals gave us a massive 2-1 win. Despite being second best against Argentinos we managed to come away with a credible draw before we destroyed Olimpia 5-0 with Luis De Leon being the start of the show.
March 2035 - Continued
Copa Argentina 6th Round
Despite facing Second Division opposition this was a cracking result. It was fantastic to see our dominance, even with the mass amount of changes I made. This destruction set up a 7th Round tie at home to Godoy.
Copa Libertadores
So bloody frustrating. We led both games comfortably heading into the final quater of the game but we just became complacent. We conceded late goals and although I am certain that we will still qualify from this group, we should be sat on maximum points.

Friendly
A very comfortable win away from home. We were limited somewhat in the sense that over half the squad was withdrawn from their respective squads so I had to call up players I usually wouldnt usually even consider. Still, this was a pleasing performance and we grabbed the win very comfortably.
We have a break now until July when we have two warm-up friendlies for the Copa America, which we get underway with a game against Colombia.
unlucky on the set-back in the CL, hopefully you should still qualify with relative ease!
Yeah it was a little annoying but we should be ok.
I have PM'd the Argentine Researcher and got this reply.
Code:The Suruga Bank Championship is a real life tournament played between the Copa Sudamericana champion and the Japanese League Cup winner. It is not in FM due to the J-League related legal issues.
