The league is looking increasingly difficult now.
Also Shamrock Rovers in the latter tages of the Champions League.![]()
yeah echo tomtuck's comments, looks like Barcelona could really start to get a lead on you, your next game with them will be massive! Also, Shamrock in the k/o rounds is crazy! Would be impressive for a human manager let alone the AI!![]()
Knew you'd get out the group with ease, Marseille are beatable too.
Yeah the league is looking out of the question at the moment. I am pleased though because it shows how difficult breaking Real Madrid and Barcelona is really. It also gives me a much bigger challenge than what I have had at any of my previous clubs. Probably the biggest challenge I have had since Darlington really because getting them to perform at such a high standard was very difficult.
Regarding Shamrock, it is an excellent achievement. They came second in a group consisting of Liverpool, Sampdoria and Shakhtar.
Buying/Selling: Buying
Player Name: Lasha Baramidze
Your Team: At.Madrid
Buyer/Seller: Arsenal
Player's Value: £17m
Offer: £32-34m
Transfer/Wage Budget: Enough
Patch: 12.0
Season: 2030/31
He is transfer listed by request and he would be brought in as a big money replacement for the ageing Carlos Antunes. Thoughts?
He doesn't impress me, maybe a bit too costly.
Always nice to see the facilities being upgraded.
Antunes looks like he has 2 or 3 years left easily - you could definitely find someone better for less in that sort of timeframe.
He is too costly and is not as good as the player ur replacing
sell the Georgian, Antunes is double the player he is now and will be even if he starts declining in a year or 2
and i think you can get a better player then Baramidze , i got 1 left 1 right winger both for around 2 mil when i took the job at sampdoria who are better then Baramidze, just keep looking and have a lot of backroom meetings
Yeah, I agree with the no-buy decision.
Granted I never have such transfer kitties at my disposal, but I would think you could find a similar player for half of that offer.
Congrats on the SL title and the Atl. Madrid job!
Yeah, I'll echo the don't buy, doesn't really impress me that muchShame Barcelona is starting to build an unassailable lead, but at least your above the other Madrid
![]()
Pretty good draw in the Champions League as well, Marseille should be beatable!
Damn Barcelona but at least 2nd place is a good first season then it's work up from there.Quite a good draw in the CL so good luck in beating Marseille.
Yeah I turned down the option to buy him.
Cheers fella.
Barca are just to strong for us this season but I am confident that we can get passed Marseille.
Can't argue with 2nd in a league like that!![]()
SRL88's Career - January 2031 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA
A perfect month for us to kick off the new year. We started with a hard fought win away to Malaga before two comfortable wins over both Cordoba and Grenada to leave us a massive 8 points off leaders Barcelona and 3 points ahead of our biggest rivals, Real Madrid.
Copa Del Rey 5th Round, Quater-Final and Semi-Final 1st Leg
As you can tell, we have been pretty busy in the Copa Del Rey in January. We breezed past both Xerez and Villarreal, so much that in the second leg I was able to give a lot of the younger players an opportunity to impress. The Semi-Final has drawn us against Malaga and in the first leg we more than deserved victory away from home but I am happy to settle for a 0-0 draw with the second leg still to come at the Vincent Calderon. If we manage to get through this tie we will face the winner of the Real Madrid/Gimnastic tie with Madrid leading 3-1 after their home leg.
A few transfers in January to help freshen things up but also strengthen the squad which we already have in place. We spent a bit of money, but they are all well worth the money.
Ganso - £15m - The big money signing of the window from Grenada. We have a lot of attacking minded midfielders and I thought we needed more of an all rounder.
Georges Corea - £8m - A very good striker signed from Ukranian side Karpaty. Should be a solid player once he settles in.
William Romero - £4m - A young player who actually has a 5* potential according to numerous coaches. I am really looking to see his development.
Sergio Gabilondo - Loan - Brought in on loan due to the departure of our back-up goalkeeper. At least he wont whinge.
Transfers - Out
Well there were a few departures during the January window. The two bigger deals of the month were players I signed at the start of the season on free transfers and were complaining about not getting enough first team football so I feel that we have got a decent deal out of that in all honesty. I sold Fabio to compensate for the the arrival of Ganso and against the fans wishes I decided to sell Diego Cortizo. He had just turned 34 and despite his fantastic stats, he was in the final year of his contract and I wanted to sell him rather than lose him on a free.

Im hoping to finish off the season tonight after work.
Still possible to catch up to Barcelona but you'll need some help from other teams...
Good luck holding on to second.
SRL88's Career - February 2031 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA
Another fantastic month which see's us continue our winning streak and close the gap at the top a little from eight, to six points. We started with an unbelievable win away to high flying Athletic Bilbao thanks to a first half onslaught. All four of our goals came in the first half, and despite taking our foot off the pedal in the second and conceding, it was a very comfortable game. Our next game against Gimnastic was a really hard fought one. I made a few changes and it showed. We were level at 1-1, but two late goals were enough to give us the win. We breezed past Levante before struggling to overcome Sevilla. Still, we are sitting nicely in second place and have also increased the gap between ourselves and Real.
February 2031 - Continued
Copa Del Rey Semi-Final 2nd Leg
A hard fought win over Malaga, but a one which see's us reach the Copa Del Rey Final in my first season in charge (the club's second Final in a row). We left it until midway through the second half to grab the goal which sent us through but I was still bouncing with joy. Our opponents will be none other than Real Madrid in the Final.
Champions League First Knockout Round 1st Leg
A truely excellent performance and result pretty much puts us into the next round unless something remarkable happens in the second leg.

Slowly edging your way to the top, the next match with Barca will be big!
Beat Barca for me, will you? And, I don't normally say this, but beat Real too. Doing well in the CL, could win a cup double(And maybe even a treble!!)
Our next game against Barca is at the Nou Camp and is sandwiched in between an away tie against Valencia and a home game against Real Madrid. Those three games will make or break our season I feel.
Haha I will try. I cant see us claiming the treble in all honesty, but I am highly optomistic in the Copa Del Rey. Man Utd have just beaten Real Madrid 9-1 on aggregate (including 6-1 away from home) so I can sense us putting a few past them.
The Champions League final 8 is between us, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Bayern, Palermo, Fiorentina and Barcelona.
Looking good so far, hope you can finish the season in style.Hope you smash Real in the Copa del Rey final![]()
You've done cracking job with Liverpool and GalatasarayGood luck with Atlético

Great win against OM in the Champions League!
SRL88's Career - March 2031 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA
Technically this was a very good month, but finally the pressure of trying to keep up with Barcelona has taken its toll on us. We got off to a good start in the month with two solid away wins against Espanyol and Osasuna. This was followed up with a brilliant display infront of our own fans against Valladolid. We went to Zaragoza in our next game and despite our struggles at times we grabbed two important goals to keep us in touch with Barca. Sadly however, our brilliant winning streak of 12 games came to an end with a poor performance at home to Cartagena. Despite taking the lead they pegged us back and eventually took the lead themselves. We went all out for the last half hour and although we grabbed an equiliser, we were unable to grab the decisive third goal as we dropped points and slipped further behind Barcelona.
Champions League First Knockout Round 2nd Leg
A very disciplined performance in France see's us comfortably into the next round. We have been handed the best possible draw in the Quater-Final and a game we must look to win. If we manage to get through then we will face either of the Manchester clubs in the Semi-Final.
In any normal season that would be seen as a brilliant month, but somehow it has meant you have slipped further behind the Catalans.
Good aggreate win over Marseille, and a very decent draw for the quarter finals.
I feel a Atletico Madrid - Barcelona Champions League final is on the cards
The all Manchester quarter final is quite tasty too.
.
What the bloody hell? NF will be happy if he see's that!![]()
Ohhhhh my!
O.O The heck is going on?
The only explaination i think was a tycoon takeover
That's an incredible result, hows Inter even doing?
What league did Cartagena start in, I don't recognise the name.
Wow at Cartagena in Liga BBVA and wow at the Inter-Forest game.Nice draw you have in the CL and hope you can secure 2nd in the league in the next couple of months.
Scarman - They start in Liga Adelante so they are doing petty well in the top half!
Crazy result, would love to see that in real life
Otherwise your doing great in the league, the title looks a step too far but champions league qualification is important for next year.
NF joins the big boys!![]()
Inter are currently top of Serie A by 7pts with 4 games to go.
Cartgena were first promoted to La Liga in 2013/14. They stayed for three seasons before being relegated, but bounced back at the first attempt. They went on to spend the next 10 seasons in La Liga before being relegated again. After a 2yr absence, they were promoted at the end of last seasom.
Cheers fella. I agree that the league has just been to much for us this season, but we have still been fantastic which just shows how strong Barca have been.
This is their 4th season in a row in the Premiership and although it looks like they will be relegated, their previous seasons have all been good showings. They finished 6th last season which is why they're in Europe.
SRL88's Career - April 2031 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA
Well our title hopes for this season are over. We started April with a brilliant 1-0 win away to Villarreal, made even more brilliant due to the fact that we played 80 minutes with 10 men. A very nice win at home to Betis was followed by a trip to the Nou Camp. Despite our best efforts we were beaten by the soon to be La Liga Champions 2-1. Despite the defeat however, we didnt let is affect us as we destroyed Hercules 6-0 before the result of the season for us as we beat our biggest rivals Real Madrid 4-1, with Predrag Cosic the star of the show.
Champions League Quater-Final and Semi-Final 1st Leg
Well, well, well. What a great European campaign this is turning out to be. We comfortably beat Fiorentina 2-0 at home before an excellent, disciplined away performance in Italy saw us through to the Semi-Final where we drew Man City. In what was without a doubt our best away performance of the season we have managed to give ourselves a massive advantage going into the second leg with a brilliant 2-1 win.
The other tie see's Barcelona hold a 2-1 lead over Palermo, with the return leg in Italy still to come.
spoiler:
You've had a very good first season in the cups, good luck in both of them, hopefully Barcelona have an off day in the CL final!
Good luck in the final, hopefully you can take the shine off their league win!
Good luck in the final.
Sorry for no updates today fella's. I have been moving home today and I having been on since 7am, I have finally got settled just now.
Ugh...moving is always a task. Hope the final of the Champions League goes in your favour!
Final
Road to Madrid
Real Madrid
A very good run for Real Madrid to the Final. The stand out tie was definitely the win against Barcelona, but they also boast impressive wins over surprise package Cartagena and another La Liga club Gimnastic.
At.Madrid
I am really pleased with how we got ourselves into the Final. We got through to the Semi-Final pretty comfortably. We made the win over Malaga a little harder than it should have been but it was still an impressive showing over the two legs.
Summary
Sadly for us, we didnt show up in the Final in all honesty. Real were much quicker out the blocks and it took for them to score a second goal before we finally pulled our fingers out our arses. We pulled one back in the first half, and despite pressing in the second half we just werent good enough. Real killed us off on the counter with a third goal as they lift the Copa Del Rey.
Final
Route to the Final
The holders of the competition, and newly crowned La Liga Champions had a pretty good run to the Final. They topped their group very easily, dropping points in just one game. They were drawn against Porto in the knockout stage, and despite defeat in Portugal, they comprehensively beat them at the Nou Camp. Liverpool were brushed aside in the Quater-Final before they were given a game against Palermo, but in the end their class showed as Barca booked their place in Lisbon.
At.Madrid
Well we made harder work of the group stage than I would have hoped. Despite just one defeat away to Palermo, we struggled throughout. We had to rely on 1-0 wins on a few of ocassions and were really made to work hard in Belgium against Leuven. A draw against Palermo in our final game ensured that we finished second in the group but luck was on our side in the draw. We drew Marseille in the First Knockout Round and the first leg was decisive. An excellent performance gave us a brilliant 4-0 result which put the game to bed in the 1st leg. It was similar news in the Quater-Final. A 2-0 win at home made things easy away from home. In the Semi-Final we put in two brilliant performances against Man City to ensure that we would meet Barcelona in the Final.
Summary
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A brilliant display in Lisbon gives the club its first Champions League trophy in its 128 year history. We took a pretty early lead and went to a defensive tactic. We held out for much of the game but Barca finally scored mid-way through the second half. Nothing changed despite both sides having chances, but in the last minute of extra-time, January signing Georges Corea who has struggled with injuries since his arrival popped up with a brilliant goal to ensure that the Champions League trophy will come back to Madrid.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Brilliant victory against Barca and what a way to win it with a last minute goal![]()
![]()
Well done on a Champions League title SRL88.![]()
Great Champions League victory! And against Barcelona![]()
Cheers lads.
This is one of the best wins of my career so far I must say. I have never gone as crazy over a goal scored on FM before in my life!!!! When I celebrated, my girlfriend looked at me, shoke her head as if to say 'what the f*ck'!!! haha.
SRL88's Career - May 2031 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA
A very good end to the season for us. I made numerous changes for the Getafe game in preperation for the Champions League Semi-Final against Man City a few days later. We were poor and looked destined for defeat at 2-0 down, but with 5 minutes remaining we pulled one back, only for us to go and grab a second with just seconds left on the clock to take great confidence from the game. We comfortably beat Malaga 2-0 before a trip to Valencia which saw us grab a fantastic win away from home. Our season concluded with a very nice win away to Cordoba.
May 2031 - Continued
Copa Del Rey Final
Such a disappointing way to end our run in the Copa Del Rey. Its not even the fact that we lost to Real Madrid, its that we didnt really show up. Real deserved to win and they did so pretty comprehensively. I cant complain.
Champions League Semi-Final 2nd Leg & Final
I have to say this is one of the greatest achievements in my career. We were 2-1 down at home to Man City with 8 minutes left and it looked like we would have to go to extra-time, but we grabbed the decisive goal which would take us through. As Man City looked for the goal which would have sent them through, we hit them on the counter and grabbed a third goal to book our place in Lisbon.
In the Final we took the lead early and put in a fantastic defensive display to nulify Barcelona's attacking options. They scored mid-way through the second half. Both teams continued to search for a goal but there was no seperating us. In the extra period, legs on both teams began to get tired as mistakes were made. The decisive moment came in the last minute as we grabbed the winning goal to lift At.Madrid's first Champions League trophy in their 128 year history.

SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2030/31 - Atletico Madrid
Liga BBVA - Results 1 - Results 2 (2nd - Runners-Up)
An absolutely excellent season in all honesty, but there was just no catching Barcelona. Just two defeats over the course of the season is the mark of an excellent season. In the first half of the season the players struggled somewhat to get used to my tactics but from January onwards we are absolutely fantastic. Our only defeats came away to Barcelona and Real Madrid and what cost us the title was to many draws. We did however finish a massive 11pts ahead of Real Madrid.
Copa Del Rey (Runners-Up)
A very good to the Final for us, but when there we just didnt show up. Real were the better team and deserved their 3-1 win.
Spanish Super Cup (Winners)
Two brilliant performances against Barcelona which saw us get our season off to a flying start.
Champions League (Winners)
A truely remarkable season in Europe as the club have lifted their first Champions League trophy ever. We struggled in the group to be honest and the results showed. There was to many 1-0 wins which showed that we struggled in my earlier times at the club. We did manage to get through the group in second place. This drew us against Marseille who we dispatched with ease, mainly thanks to a 4-0 win at home. This was a similar case against Fiorentina. We done all the hard work at home, which meant all we had to do was sit tight in the second leg. The Semi-Final threw up a tough tie against Man City, but in both legs we were on our A game. In England we pulled off a fantastic 2-1 win. We won the return leg as well to set up a tie against Barcelona in the Final. Once again we were brilliant against the odds and a last minute goal in extra-time gave us a brilliant 2-1 win.
Transfers - Finances
Once again I splash the cash when it was needed. I really strengthened the squad throughout and I feel that was probably the main reason why we had such a good season.
The finances are looking very healthy indeed. We are barely losing any money at all on a monthly basis which has allowed us to make a massive profit this season.
Squad
A very strong squad. There are a few ageing players which need replacing, but I am not sure if that will be this season or next season.
My Top 3 Players
Alejandro Saavedra - I signed him for Galatasaray, and when I left I brought him with me to Madrid. One of my better decisions. Very solid at the back and brilliant going forward. Well worth the money.
Mohammed Gaad - I said in my pre-season update that I was delighted with this signing and I think this screenshot proves it. Definitely my best signing of the season.
Predrag Cosic - A brilliant season on loan. He will go back to Liverpool full of confidence and I really hope he shines there.

Please, please, please have a look at the FA Cup Winners for this season. I have even linked the Final for you all to see.
Money, Money, Money.
Oh. Just seen the post. SRL, why aren't you feeding Forest with some of your Spanish dross
. You disappoint me.
Great thread, enjoying this.![]()
At least you won the important final.
Been away from the forums for awhile and just caught up, good season in Turkey and AMAZING first season in Spain keep it up.
Excellent achievement winning the CL- such a dramatic way to do it too!
Shame Barca was so dominant in the league- 94 points would normally easily guarantee you the title.
Cheers. Im really glad you like it. Always nice to have someone new reading.
Of course. It is the one that mattered!!!!
I actually couldnt believe it. They are a mid-table Championship club now and have been for a few years. Brighton have just completed their first ever season in the Premier League, also finishing mid-table.
Cheers fella. Really glad with how my first season went as we now have something fantastic to build on.
Cheers AK. There was just no beating Barca this season, and as you say, anywhere else I would have walked the league. At least I know my challenge now.
That's crazy about Newport County! Aren't they a BSP side in real life?
Great stuff dude.
How many European Cups have you lifted in your career now?
Yeah they are a BSP side. I honestly cant believe that they were in the Final, but their run to Wembley wasnt exactly tough.
Cheers Tom.
That was my third Champions League trophy of my career. I would like to think that I can achieve number 4 and possibly 5 whilst still at Atletico.
Great Champions League win, just when it seemed set to be a season of 'nearly but not quite' as well
Best of luck with overhauling Barca in the league next season![]()
3 Champions League titles makes you one of the best managers ever :thup. Great bstuff mate.
As an aside, Newport County winning the cup is brilliant haha
Alos, thanks for posting the league winners and major cups throughout your save - I genuinely love reading them.
By the way, Valenciennes winning the French league in the first year of the save, is astonishing. What have they done since?
Knocked Barca over in the Champions League, now just to do that in the league! Awesome season all up![]()
Yeah it all nearly went tits up didnt it. I would have settled for any trophy to be honest, but I am delighted to have lifted the European Cup.
Cheers Daz. Really glad you like it. I think putting the title results in etc is good just so you can keep an eye on how everyone is doing.
As for Valenciennes. I honestly was as shocked to see them win Ligue 1 as I was to see Newport win the FA Cup. They havent done anything since lifting the title at all. They have a few mid-table finishes and have flirted with relegation more often than not.
I agree. The league is now where we need to do it!!!
If you can do it in the CL, the league will soon follow.
Wouldnt be surprised to see you win the treble at least next season![]()
Excellent first season and big congrats on getting one over Barcelona in the CL Final.
Hopefully you can get the League and Copa del Rey won in the near future![]()
Congrats on winning CL![]()

Good season winning the CL, time to win the League now.
