SI Staff Blue Lou Posted November 13, 2007 Author SI Staff Share Posted November 13, 2007 This is a brief update of what to expect in the future.. This has been confirmed by the African Rearcher on the official African research site found here. What has been implemented? * The African Nations Cup (Ghana 2008) stadiums have been modified with new capacities, new names and the missing stadiums have been created and assigned to the relevant cities. * All newly built stadiums for 2010 tournament have been created. * The missing Angola 2010 hosting cities have now been created. * Missing major international African rivalries are now implemented. * Spoken langugages for nations has been given an overhaul and second and third languages have been assigned to some countries. * Teams present in the database who participate in Champions League and African Confederation Cup have now been assigned to the relevent compeition in the database. * New continental awards implemented: - African Goalkeeper of the Year - African Coach of the Year - African Inter-Club Team of the Year - African National Team of the Year - African XI of the Year - African Inter-Club Player of the Year * Other missing clubs have been added to the database. Possibly the most reknowned of these is Patrick Vieira's and Bernard Lama's elite academy Diambars in Senegal. * Some clubs have changed their name recently and the new data includes the new names for example Senegalese club SONACOS has been renamed to SUNEORS. * Some clubs have been removed from the database as they no longer exist. * Most, if not all missing Players from the u17 world cup and u20 world cup earlier this year have been added to the game. * Some international u17 players such as Sadick Adams and Ransford Osei have been modified to have include higher potential based on their performances at the u17 world cup. What might be implemented? The following has been passed on to SI to be implemented or fixed: * The hosts for African Nations 2010,2012,2014 have all been announced. This information has been passed onto SI and it is up to them to implement into game. * Inclusion of the country Zanzibar, they have a team in the Champions League and Confederation Cup but these are not presently in the database. This is because there is no Zanzibar country to assign them to. * The competition history problem with Confederations Cup including the Cup Winners Cup history is up to SI to fix. * The competition history of the African Youth Championship (African Cup of Nations for U20 sides) has been passed on for implementation. In real life the semi finalists qualify for the u20 World Cup but for now we would like to see the competition history in game. It's a small step in the right direction. * The new competition African Nations Championship details has also been passed on. This is most likely for a future version of FM and not be included in the patch.

PMLF
I hope a future version will allow us to manage Egyptian teams, but I know the decision about this is in SI's hands.

SI Staff Blue Lou Posted November 15, 2007 Author SI Staff Share Posted November 15, 2007 I forgot to mention... The French researcher has requested that when France is chosen as a playable/viewable country that the African Continental Tournaments are also activated. Awaiting a response for that one. SI Staff Blue Lou Posted November 23, 2007 Author SI Staff Share Posted November 23, 2007 There has now been a request to fix the Confederation Cup and African Champions League cup format aswell. There has also been a request to include Olympics Qualifying for Africa.

Greg Andrade
Thanks for the update and the improvements to Africa. These are sorely needed, and there needs to be a full commitment from SI to start implementing some of the leagues. The research is greatly improving, and we shouldn't let potential sales figures get in the way. Many people would enjoy managing in the African leagues, and the game shouldn't need to sell some arbitrary number of copies in Tunisia or Egypt in order to justify adding them. At the very least, the international and club competitions need to be implemented immediately. It will add more realism to the game and give better opportunities for clubs to scout top African talent, just as they do in real life. I'd like to see comments from SI on this. SI Staff Blue Lou Posted November 25, 2007 Author SI Staff Share Posted November 25, 2007 These are the manageable nations (so far!!)

Algeria
Angola
Benin
Botswana
Burkina Faso
Burundi
Cameroon
Chad
Congo
Congo DR
Egypt
Equatorial Guinea
Ethiopa
Gabon
Gambia
Ghana
Guinea
Guinea-Bissau
Ivory Coast
Kenya
Liberia
Libya
Madagascar
Malawi
Mali
Mauritania
Mauritius
Morrocco
Mozambique
Namibia
Niger
Nigeria
Rwanda
Senegal
South Africa
Sierra Leone
Swaziland
Sudan
Togo
Tanzania
Tunisia
Uganda
Zambia
Zimbabwe Not bad eh? Greg Andrade
Just to clarify, when I mentioned international competitions, I meant Olympic qualifiers and youth tournaments like there are in the game for Asia. It's great that we can manage international squads from so many African countries. But we're long overdue to see at least a couple of additional playable leagues in Africa, and the continent should be getting more respect and attention from SI. I'm doing my part to help out with research, but without a commitment from SI to add leagues, then it may end up being a waste of time.
manageman
Did any of these changes make it into 8.0.1? I tried looking up Diambars in the db but couldn't find it. Thanks for your hard work. I'd love to be able to play in more African leagues!
SI Staff Blue Lou Posted December 4, 2007 Author SI Staff Share Posted December 4, 2007 The changes are not in 8.01. I think that they will make it into 8.02 data update(apparently released in Februrary - after January transfer windowc loses.).

How much more work would that need to get a green light?!
Jason84
8.01 still features a lack of electricity in most African countries and their strikers with poor finishing and mental stats in general. So its still pretty accurate.
