So glad you made it at long last.
So glad you made it at long last.
Unlucky with the late loss to Fiorentina which led to the poor form in the league but glad to see you reach top flight.Congrats on winning the playoffs![]()
LOL. Think I'll have trouble?![]()
Them stats are quality but do you know whats better: Serie A!![]()
If you are/were considering it, you can't leave them now.
great stuff. you probably shouldn't have needed the playoffs but for us who are reading it was a great end to probably the most exciting season I've read on here.
Congratulations, you've more than earned it.
Too good an offer unfortunately...

So proud. He's been at the club for 10 years and is now getting recognition finally!
SI's reputation system is a cruel mistress.
*sigh*.. At least the last one was there for longer than five minutes!
Unlucky with Verbeek, but well done on making it to the big show! This thread is quality. At least with the Verbeek money you could maybe get 2-3 Serie A standard players in
Santarcangelo Calcio, July/August 2022 Review
Well, our first season in Serie A TIM was gonna be tough. We had a new board put in place and they OK'd a stadium upgrade and a youth recruitment network upgrade. Along with my youth training facility upgrade, we were looking to really cash in on last season's cup run and subsequent European adventure and promotion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
28.07.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 Levski Sofia (UEFA Europa League Third Qualifying Round, Leg 1)
Our first ever European adventure got off to a great start as Amedeo Del Nevo netted from the penalty spot to put us into the lead just after half-time, then Giovanni Maria Piras doubled it about 20 minutes later. The late goal was a wake-up call however
04.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Levski Sofia (UEFA Europa League Third Qualifying Round, Leg 2)
A 0-1 defeat at home meant that we were tied on aggregate, however, our two away goals were enough to see us through! However, we lost new signing Davide Petrucci for 5 months with a torn hamstring.
18.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Dinamo Moscow (UEFA Europa League Fourth Qualifying Round, Leg 1)
we were handed VERY tough opponents in the next round and I had no illusions that we were going to struggle! However, a mistake by Buldrini and a dive by a Dinamo player to get a free-kick meant we finished the game 0-2 down and almost out.
21.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Hellas Verona (TIM Coppa Italia Third Qualifying Round)
Again, we were light on forwards, but it only took Erik Gambella 10 minutes to slot home the only goal of the game to put us into the next round.
25.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Dinamo Moscow (UEFA Europa League Fourth Qualifying Round, Leg 1)
Cristian Pinton got on the end of a swirling free-kick after just a minute to give us an unlikely hope. We were building a head of steam when a soft 30 yard shot deflected off a defender, leaving Doria stranded and totally took the wind out of our sails. The game coasted to a draw which saw us go out 1-3 on aggregate.
28.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Juventus (Serie A TIM)
Not the game I wanted to start the season with, but Erik Gambella dispossessed the defender and stroked home for an unlikely lead! However, things fell apart and we were schooled as Juve netted three goals in reply.
31.08.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 2 F.C Internazionale (Serie A TIM)
Another tough game, and one I was so short of strikers in, I was reduced to playing Amedeo Del Nevo up front with Erik Gambella. And it was Erik Gambella who opened the scoring with a cute finish to put us 1-0 up. Amedeo Del Nevo then finished high into the far corner to put us in dreamland. However, we lost two players to injury, the second after using all three subs. Then, down to 10 men, we conceded a joke penalty on 90 mins which was duly converted to give Inter the draw..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We tried hard to get in some players without compromising the youth prospects that I had or the harmony. First up was ST Raffaele Terracciano on a free from Sorrento, then ST Erik Gambella permanently from Cagliari for £375k. Youth prospect AMRLC Ferruccio Sassaroli for £50k from Ravenna also came in along with Portuguese midfielder Luca Schwartz on a free. Also coming in on a free were AMC Davide Petrucci and GK Simon Jaime. Finally, D/WBR Luca Mazza came in on loan from AS Roma.
Leaving the club was ST Wesley Verbeek for £4.2m + 50% sell on to Real Zaragoza. It was a deal too good to give up. I also sent ST Marius Lupo out on loan to Torino. A number of players went out on loan to feeder club Ancona and some youth players also went out on loan. DM Giovanni Cristofari went to Real Mallorca for £150k.

We are literally down to the bare bones...
Ouch, that injury list is certainly nothing less than a crisis!
Davide Petrucci looks quality, its a shame about losing him for such a long time, and so early in the season!
You must be especially proud of that draw against Inter, but your European exploits so far have been superb!
I like that the new board is not shy about putting in the investment neccessary to help you maintain your Serie A status
Finally, congratulations on the big 5-0-0!
Fantastic to see you finally make the big step up (again). I trust you have saved your game to 7 different files and stores them with a few friends and a local bank?
Pleasing to see Petrucci has turned into such a good player. He's done well for the Man Utd reserves lately so I have hope of him making some inroads at some point, despite basically 2 years of non-stop injuries.
Looks like a pretty decent start to Seria A life too. The Cup showed you can compete with the best, and after two tough opponents you were no destroyed. Well done and good luck for the future.
Congratulations on promotion! And this time, you had a bit of luck on your side as well.
Best of luck in Serie A - how do you rate your chances amongst the big boys?

Good start, shame about the injury troubles and the tricky draw in Europe.
Coped well with a tough first couple of Serie A games.
Great job getting promotion to Serie A![]()
thats a good start to the season all things considered.
Well done on making it to Serie A (again)
A tough start, against Juve and Inter; I'd be fairly ecstatic with a point from those two games.
Santarcangelo Calcio, September 2022 Review
11.09.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Udinese (Serie A TIM)
Luca Schwartz buried a low shot just after half time to put us in the lead, but we conceded from a corner late on to get yet another draw
18.09.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Juve Stabia (Serie A TIM)
'The Battle Of Santarcangelo' was a fiery affair. 12 yellow cards including two and a sending off for Giovanni Maria Piras. after only FIVE minutes. However, Sergio Corallo slammed home a low shot on 92 minutes to give us our first three points in Serie A TIM.
21.09.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Novara (Serie A TIM)
0-1 down from a corner, however Amedeo Del Nevo stepped up to score a priceless equaliser midway though the second half. We also had Nunzio Novelli dismissed for a second yellow on 90 mins..
25.09.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Cagliari (Serie A TIM)
Mirco Doria fumbled a low cross which allowed Cagliari to score after 5 mins, but again, Amedeo Del Nevo hauled us back into it with an equaliser just after HT.

Thanks for the support, guys. I think I should have enough about me to stay up this season. Looking forward to my intake this year!
At least you're hard to beat.
7 points from 6 games over the course of a season is about right for staying up in my experience.![]()
That's a cracking month of Catenaccio![]()
Lossless month. Great stuff.
It's months like that that will be crucial in your bid for survival!
It's a shame you didn't draw to Juve 1-1, would have been much more coincidental.
Great to see you get the club back to Serie A. Looks like your side is coping well at the moment.
Santarcangelo Calcio, October 2022 Review
02.10.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Palermo (Serie A TIM)
Sergio Corallo scored an early goal that gave us a fantastic win over the seminal Serie A TIM side.
15.10.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Fiorentina (Serie A TIM)
In a sad replay of last year's TIM Coppa Italia final, we again lost 0-1 to Fiorentina.
23.10.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 3 Sampdoria (Serie A TIM)
We had Amedeo Del Nevo dismissed for a second yellow on 78 mins and that was the best thing about today.
26.10.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 S.S Lazio (Serie A TIM)
Lazio are in trouble and we dumped yet more on them by way of a Erik Gambella double to give us a vital 2-1 win.
30.10.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Torino (Serie A TIM)
Welcome back, Amedeo Del Nevo! His goal seperated the two sides and gave us a lift.
Three wins in a month is excellent, you must be hanging around in mid-table at the moment!
Fantastic start. A third of the way to safety.
good stuff. looking good for safety
Santarcangelo Calcio, November 2022 Review
02.11.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 AC Milan (Serie A TIM)
UNbelievably, we put three past AC again! However, we had a lot of help. After a Milan player was sent off after only 6 mins, we gradually came into the game. Francesco Valentini headed us ahead on 36 minutes, then we saw ANOTHER Milan player sent off on the stroke of HT. A horrific deflection, given as an own goal put us 2-0 up and late on, full back Alessandro Mirko Fagni slid home at the far post to poke home the third.
09.11.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Brescia (Serie A TIM)
Goals from Luca Mazza and Luca Buldrini, both from corners, gave us a cracking win.
20.11.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Parma (Serie A TIM)
A game more notable for the 10 offside decisions given against Parma than any scoreline.
23.11.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Brescia (TIM Coppa Italia Fourth Qualifying Round)
No Cup heroics this year as an 85th minute winner put us out in a dull game.
27.11.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 4 Napoli (Serie A TIM)
Oh, so THAT'S where Serie A went... I figured it might have been easy.....
Great Milan win, again.
Hard luck about the Napoli game, but these things happen. Other league results were![]()
Santarcangelo Calcio, December 2022 Review
03.12.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 ChievoVerona (Serie A TIM)
Nggh.
11.12.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Atalanta (Serie A TIM)
My touchline ban came into force in this match and I could do nothing but snooze through this one.
18.12.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Genoa (Serie A TIM)
No goals in six. Two points from eighteen. Serie A TIM is biting back
------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure on any purchases during this transfer window, but I think I may get rid of Raffaele Terraccino who hasn't scored since he's got to the club and has only a 6.58 average rating.
Santarcangelo Calcio, January 2023 Review
08.01.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 AS Roma (Serie A TIM)
OK, starting to worry....
18.01.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Juventus (Serie A TIM)
We were battered from start to finish and only an MoM performance by Mirco Doria meant we escaped with a point.
22.01.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 4 F.C Internazionale (Serie A TIM)
Our ninth game without a goall. Now only three points from relegation zone
28.01.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Udinese (Serie A TIM)
YES! Finally! New signing Fabio Aveni got the goall that gave us our first win and goal in nine games!
------------------------------------------------------------
A little interlude here before the transfers, so I can explain my thinking. I had over £5m in the bank and over £75k spare in wages to go out and buy myself some talent. But, dear reader, you've seen my day-to-day operations in the last 11 years and you know that's not my style. As I've said before, I do try to make things a little realistic in this, so with our alarming slump growing worse by the second, I had to take stock of the players, fixtures and just what I was going to do.. So, I decided to plan for relegation. We've hopefully turned the corner with the Udinese win, but that kind of run again, and we're in the bottom three. So a lot of the sales and changes were made with the thought of playing in Lega Serie Bwin next season. Hopefully of course, we'll survive. Hopefully.
---------------------------------------------------------
Only one player in this transfer window, ST Fabio Aveni, released from SS Lazio's youth system in the summer.
Outgoings were, sadly, somewhat more. A club record £4.5m + 50% was recieved from Atalanta for DR Nunzio Novelli. Novelli was a Santarcangelo youth product, Italy U-21 captain and a cornerstone of our defence. But £4.5m is a hell of a lot for a small-town side like us and, because of the thoughts above, I felt the team just couldn't say no to this. Immediately, I recalled our backup DR from loan at our feeder club and went from there. GK Simon Jaime bitched about lack of playing time and was promptly booted out to Feyenoord for £3.5m + 50% (God bless Serie A TIM price rises!). Finally, AC Milan came in with a co-ownership deal for Raffaele Terracciano. At £3.3m, I took their arm off as that'll mean that even if he is bought out by them for £0, I've made £3.3m profit!
Last edited by Deisler26; 01-02-2012 at 09:03.
Shame about losing Novelli, hopefully won't be long before you can keep hold of your youth products no matter the price! Aveni looks a good poacher, hopefully he can nab a few goals and keep you up. Certainly a bold move planning for relegation given that your form really hasn't been that bad considering you're a promoted side with a decent number of wins on the board already. What does the table look like?
Aveni looks like he can do some damage
How far bottom are you? What is the difference between you and safety?
6 teams have to get more than 6 points more than you over the remaining 13 games. I'd say you have a very good chance to stay up![]()
Are we f****** Portsmouth in disguise??
Santarcangelo Calcio, February 2023 Review
05.02.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Juve Stabia (Serie A TIM)
BOOM! A good win against the league's bottom team. Sergio Corallo got the opener then, after 25 games, Raffaele Terracciano scored his first goal for the club to give us a vital 2-0 win.
12.02.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Novara (Serie A TIM)
We need to beat the teams below us to stay up. And we didn't do it here.
19.02.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Cagliari (Serie A TIM)
4 points from 9 against the teams below really isn't cutting it....
Disappointing..
I love how your youth system is so good that two 4.5* players is disappointing!
Santarcangelo Calcio, March 2023 Review
05.03.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 3 Fiorentina (Serie A TIM)
*sigh* Owned again.....
08.03.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Citti de Palermo (Serie A TIM)
As I keep saying, we need to beat the teams below us to stay up. And we didn't do it here either.
12.03.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Sampdoria (Serie A TIM)
Davide Petrucci netted a late consolation, but I was disappointed with the way we conceded the first two
19.03.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 S.S Lazio (Serie A TIM)
We're slowly slipping away...
Time for a team meeting!
Can we get a screenie of the two potential youth stars?
We ARE f****** Portsmouth...
Last edited by Deisler26; 01-02-2012 at 10:10.
LOL! That last screenshot made me crack up. The similarities are uncanny!
Not much to be excited about in terms of youth prospects, though![]()
Wont be long before the next one, I presume!
you can stay. I believe.
Looks like two very capable youth players to me, but unfortunate they are forward players if you just need defenders. Still, can make you some dosh in the future if they don't make the grade. That is starting to become my system now too.
Hopefully you can get some more wins on the board soon, 9 games without a goal is worrying to say the least, as is four losses in row. Keep the faith though, and even if you do go down, not blowing tons of money on transfers now will keep the club afloat if things should go pearshaped.
Santarcangelo Calcio, April 2023 Review
02.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Torino (Serie A TIM)
Finally! A great 3-0 win started with a Fabio Aveni tap-in, then came a Cristian Pinton drive from 20 yards! Finally, Sergio Corallo topped it all off with a lashed shot into the roof of the net, late on.
08.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 3 AC Milan (Serie A TIM)
This time, Milan put three past me...
16.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 3 Brescia (Serie A TIM)
We came back from behind twice to draw, through goals from Cristian Pinton and Sergio Corallo, but an 87th minute winner kicked us in the teeth.
19.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Parma (Serie A TIM)
This was the backbreaker. They're high up the table and we took the lead through an own-goal. But three late second half goals killed us.
23.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Napoli (Serie A TIM)
Not even at the races in this one.
30.04.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 3 ChievoVerona (Serie A TIM)
This result dumped us into the relegation zone and me into a panic...
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
Chievo game was huge. Real six pointer.
It appears I've jinxed you, sorry about that! Good luck clawing your way above Novara in the 3 remaining games.
Sort it out Deisler!!

07.05.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Atalanta (Serie A TIM)
Arrgh!! Even a team meeting didn't help us on this one. Ex-player Bilal Yilmaz hammered a nail into our coffin in the 94th minute...
10.05.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Genoa (Serie A TIM)
Andrea Giovanni Maino lashed home on 8 mins to give us a fighting chance, but Genoa's superior skill shone through in the second half...
14.05.23
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 AS Roma (Serie A TIM)
We bowed out of Serie A TIM with a whimper after two first half goals...
Unlucky on relegation mate. Whats your plans for next seasons?
Unfortunate with relegation but you can get back up again, I'm sure. Good luck. Looking for some good reinforcements over the summer?
After all that, and you couldn't last.
Bad luck getting relegated, it all looked really good for the first half of the season! At least you're geared up for bouncing back.
thats sucks. you'll bounce straight back though.
Hard luck, April and May were very cruel. I hope you negotiated some relegation wage drop clauses! Or at least didn't have too many top division clauses to begin with. Your rep and infrastructure and support and all those good things should be improved, and you'll come straight back up.
Absolutely crushed to see you relegated mate, especially after working so hard to get there. However as long as you keep producing/finding the talent you have been I'm sure you'll be back soon. It's unfortunate you had to sell on a lot of key men, but those funds will be crucial in improving the facilities (side note: what are their current levels?). I'm amazed you were able to include +50% clauses in all of them, hopefully they make it big!
Thanks man. I'm not entirely sure if I will get in reinforcements to be honest, it was injuries that killed us this season. I usually run with a system of First Team/Reserve/Youth for each position, but I was down 5 strikers at one point and two youth players will not cut it in Serie A.
Last edited by Deisler26; 02-02-2012 at 05:05.
A lot of decisions need to be made over this close-season in personnel and direction. I need to sit and really look at how this squad can progress. Doria and Maino have already made noises about wanting to move on...
Say it ain't so!! *huge sad face*
Definitely fight tooth and nail to keep Doria. If he really is destined to be the next Buffon he's virtually priceless. Unlucky that Mladen is going to call it a day, have you got a good young player to step into the positon?
Last edited by Deisler26; 02-02-2012 at 06:29.
Yeah I can see where you're coming from, not only are versatile players super useful in a small squad during an injury crisis, but we get attached to players that perform well for so long. Hopefully you can give him a good send off![]()
