Santarcangelo Calcio, October 2021 Review
02.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Sorrento (Lega Serie Bwin)
This season is killing us. We're constantly running with only two fit strikers and one of those is ALWAYS a youth player..
06.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 2 Hellas Verona (Lega Serie Bwin)
We went behind to an own goal, then Wesley Verbeek equalled it up. Having gone behind again, we again hauled ourselves level on 87 minutes as Giovanni Cristofari's first touch took him past the desparing goalkeeper and left him with a tap-in.
16.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Sassuolo (Lega Serie Bwin)
Marius Lupo fired us ahead. That, added to Amedeo Del Nevo's fierce strike and Wesley Verbeek's placed shot meant that we had an excellent riposte to the doubters in the media
20.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 5 - 0 AlbinoLeffe (Lega Serie Bwin)
Interesting stat. By the end of this match, we had played them 5 times in my career. They had scored two goals and we had scored sixteen.. Marius Lupo opened the scoring, before Wesley Verbeek took centre stage with a hat-trick. Sebastian Mladen then topped it all off with a header.
23.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 3 Padova (Lega Serie Bwin)
Verbeek out injured, we had just Lupo and a youth player up front. We paid the penalty.
30.10.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Bassano (Lega Serie Bwin)
Amedeo Del Nevo netted the opener, Marius Lupo doubled our lead then Giovanni Maria Piras, a first-year youth player, scored his first ever senior goal for the club.
Picking up after a few weeks away from FMCU. Saying you've had some bad luck is an understatement... that late extra time playoff defeat... the constant crash dumps... ouch. I'd have thrown the game in the bin after kicking the disc around in frustration if I ever had as many crash dumps as you have. I have no idea how do you find the motivation to persist regardless.
Unfortunately looks like your side is going backwards in results this new season, I'm quite surprised to see that. Serie B is proving a very long purgatory for Santarcangelo.. at least the youth players are good.
October seemed to be a better month all round, even with the two defeats. Hopefully, you get a bit of momentum going, and get back up towards to top six again![]()
Been keeping an eye on this for a while
Real pisser about the crash, but hopefully results are picking up for this season.
Santarcangelo Calcio, November 2021 Review
02.11.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Lecce (Lega Serie Bwin)
UNfamiliar strikeforce, but Amedeo Del Nevo put us in front, then set up Carlo Alberto Vinci to kill the game off with a second.
06.11.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Juve Stabia (Lega Serie Bwin)
A horrible game for us where we took the lead thanks to Amedeo Del Nevo, then suffered injuries to Sergio Corallo and Stefano Guarardi before they equalised on 82 minutes.
20.11.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Cremonese (Lega Serie Bwin)
Amedeo Del Nevo's tap in continued his fine form and Wesley Verbeek's placed shot plus Giovanni Cristofari's late effort meant we had a good result with a hotchpotch side
23.11.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Piacenza (TIM Coppa Italia Fourth Qualifying Round)
Marius Lupo made it an interesting game by getting himself a straight red for a studs-up challenge on 25 mins. However, Carlo Alberto Vinci hit a goal in each half to put us into the First Round proper..
27.11.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 Nocerina (Lega Serie Bwin)
Marius Lupo tapped home a rebound to put us 1-0 up, then Sebastian Mladen headed home to give us a win that took us into 4th
Your form has picked up and nice to see you sitting in 4th.Hopefully you can achieve promotion this season.
Yes, but momentum is on your side.
very good month. keep morale up and you'll prob get automatic promotion
big run in though mate and football manager is all about keeping those morale arrows green imho.
Good month there, keep the pressure on the teams above you know![]()
Santarcangelo Calcio, December 2021 Review
01.12.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Empoli (Lega Serie Bwin)
A late Sebastian Mladen header brought home the spoils in this one.
04.12.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Grosseto (Lega Serie Bwin)
Sergio Corallo injured himself AGAIN during the match. That's 11 out of 18 games he's missed this season, however his replacement Carlo Alberto Vinci slotted home our only shot on target on 71 mins.
11.12.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Torino (Lega Serie Bwin)
We were terrible in this easy win for Torino
18.12.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Livorno (Lega Serie Bwin)
Amedeo Del Nevo put us ahea with a stroke of sheer genius early on and, with just 10 minutes to go, Sebastian Mladen's header was palmed into the net for an OG.
---------------------------------------------------------
We finish 2021 in 2nd place in Lega Serie Bwin. Cant see any need for any incomings during this window except for maybe a loan striker. No outgoings either, unless my chairman has anything to do with it...
---------------------------------------------------------
Haha, beautiful lob.
ppHOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK! HOLY F*CK!
Save deleted again?
Bloody hell if it is. Sure hope you are using rolling saves in at least 3 files.
There is also a very long list of applications steam doesn't like, which I suppose may cause crashes or other muckups, though I'm less sure if that can corrupt saves too.
For now I just hope you got a player injured or something else damn annoying but less severe. The chairman sold off a certain goalie again?
Save undeleted...?
I'm guessing he bought someone special. Or his chairman baked him a cake.
My money's on cake!
Sounds big.
The cake.
The box, THE BOX!
Hurry up........
Giant-killing in the cup? Or massive transfer news?
New board hopefully. Bought by a Tycoon.
Hopefully a tycoon takeover after all the bad luck you've had previously!
Well, at least one person has got it... Stay tuned...
I'm gonna guess tycoon too.
Santarcangelo Calcio, January 2022 Review
08.01.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Crotone (Lega Serie Bwin)
After 21 games and 25 hours played, Sergio Corallo scored his first goal of the season.
11.01.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 FC Internazionale (TIM Coppa Italia First Round)
HOLY COW! We took the lead on 4 mins when Giovanni Cristofari slammed the ball home from an angle after being played in and then it was a backs-to-the-wall job. Yet, despite Inter's dominance of the stats, they had 0 shots on target. I was biting my nails by the end, but the final whistle blew and I had the greatest result of my managerial career to date!.
15.01.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Reggina (Lega Serie Bwin)
Sergio Corallo put us 1-0 up, but it was a case of 'After The Lord Mayor's Show' as we lost 1-2 to a late 30 yard swerving drive.
22.01.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 5 - 0 Catania (Lega Serie Bwin)
An own-goal set us on our way, before Wesley Verbeek's double and a goal from both Marius Lupo and his replacement Sergio Corallo put the seal on a fine victory
24.01.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 0 Catania (TIM Coppa Italia Quarter Final)
Our second encounter in four days saw Wesley Verbeek give us the lead and goals from Mario Nosdeo, Cristian Pinton and Sergio Corallo put us into the Semi Final against AC Milan
29.01.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Piacenza (Lega Serie Bwin)
A game where everything was against us. Loan siging Eric Gambella scored his first goal for the club, then was injured and had to be subbed. They scored on an offside goal via a bad deflection and then, in the 85th minute, we were denied a stone cold penalty, which I ranted about in the press after. No action was taken.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Just the one incoming player, ST Eric Gambella on loan from Cagliari
------------------------------------------------------------------
get in there. Not quite the tycoon I was hoping for but thats a super result.
Not to take the sheen off it, but huge teams constantly doing this since the new patch, think it could be to do with motivation to play lower opposition.
Excellent results in the cup![]()
Brilliant win against Inter & Catania.
Great run!
Great result against Inter. What a massive win that was. Should spur you on to get promoted![]()
Santarcangelo Calcio, February 2022 Review
01.02.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Pescara (Lega Serie Bwin)
This team's tendancy to face-plant when close to a goal became apparent again.
05.02.21
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 2 Varese (Lega Serie Bwin)
A Wesley Verbeek double set us on the road, but we then conceded two in the last ten minutes to stumble yet again.
09.02.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 A.C Milan (TIM Coppa Italia Semi Final, Leg 1)
Amedeo Del Nevo stunningly put us ahead early on, however a debatable trip on a Milan midfielder gifted them a penalty which drew them level and gave them the away goal.
12.02.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Vicenza (Lega Serie Bwin)
A Wesley Verbeek goal gave us the win which we desperately needed
19.02.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Sorrento (Lega Serie Bwin)
This game was over in the first 10 minutes/ They took the lead, but Sergio Corallo pulled us level with a cool finish on 10 mins.
Fantastic result against Inter. Good luck in the 2nd leg against A.C![]()
You have to reach that final.
you can do it. C'mon Santarcangelo
You write a thread full of 12 pages just for games like the away leg at the San Siro![]()
Santarcangelo!!!!!!
Truth. However, I'm a wee bit apprehensive as to what a defeat will do to morale. Also, I would have rather got here when Midtable in Serie A TIM. Whilst it's a great run to the semis, it might impact us next year on expectations...
But still, you're right. An away match at the San Siro where one goal for us could change everything... It's scary, yet mouthwatering...
Thanks for all the support guys. The second leg is March 23. Could it be a town holiday? Will the mayor be lauding us or drowning his sorrows by the end... Who knows?
Absolute congratulations on your cup run, but I'm just hoping you manage to finish in the promotion places, where are you sitting now?
Best of luck for that San Siro match, could this epic giant-killing saga go even further? Very difficult but there are no impossibles in football.
Just a tip, the updates get a bit confusing because you never post where you're at in the league, simply finishing the update with a "Current league position: xth" would make it easier to follow, people are constantly asking it. The results there are looking a little inconsistent, I'm going to guess you're in a playoff position or only just out of it?
I dont, even....
Wow! What a result! Great job!
Fantastic work! Who have you got in the final?
Woah, epic win!
get in there. thats the stuff. Champions?
Great finish by Corallo for the second goal.
Fantastic stuff. This is what dreams are made of, Serie B team making it to the final. Best of luck in it. Who are you up against and how good are they now?
I actually kind of like not having the position spelt out because it keeps us guessing to the end of the season.
*speechless*
What a fantastic cup run! Giant killing of the highest order![]()
Wow....just....wow!
Damn, great win matey! Could be a promotion + cup double. Straight into Europe. Also, Luciano Roldoni looks rediculous!!
I hope you can ditch Milan out the cup!
Thats a fantastic victory, congrats!
Thanks guys! Really appreciated! The scoreline doesn't tell you how close it really was.
Santarcangelo Calcio, March 2022 Review
05.03.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Hellas Verona (Lega Serie Bwin)
Marius Lupo netted the only goal as we continue to claw back the lead Padova have.
12.03.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 1 AlbinoLeffe (Lega Serie Bwin)
Another game against AlbinoLeffe, another spanking. Sergio Corallo's double set us on the road, following Amedeo Del Nevo's clinical opener.
19.03.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 5 - 3 Sassuolo (Lega Serie Bwin)
NOT a game for the purist. Doubles for Wesley Verbeek and Sergio Corallo sandwiched an own goal from them and TWO from us.
23.03.22
Santarcangelo Calcio e3 - 1 AC Milan (TIM Coppa Italia Semi Final, Leg 2)
The fairytale continues! They took the lead early on, but just before half time, Sebastian Mladen volleyed home from a corner to tie it all up. It really was a midfield battle throughout the second half and neither side could find a winner. Extra-time came and the first half was much of the same. However, on 115 minutes, a long ball out of defence found Sergio Corallo all alone and his emphatic finish into the top corner gave us a priceless lead. Then, with just a minute left, Sebastian Mladen rose highest to head home and give the score a lopsided look, it barely deserved
26.03.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 0 Padova (Lega Serie Bwin)
We destroyed the league leaders in this one. Amedeo Del Nevo scored the opener and Francesco Valentini headed home to double our lead. Then, after half-time, our 1-2 punch of Wesley Verbeek and Sergio Corallo sealed the rout and took us top on goal difference.

Excellent news on being top of the league. Hope it lasts another 6 weeks
PS: The date in the last match is botched.
Unbelievable month, I think you're heading to Serie A this time.
Come ooooon Serie B and Coppa Italia double!![]()
I don't think a Serie B side has ever won the Coppa Italia (I could be wrong). You can be the first!
Fantastic result againt Milan! Good luck in the final!
Absolutely incredible month mate, congratulations. Looks like you'll give the Serie A a good shake next year, and the Euro League too maybe!
Thanks guys, fingers crossed...
Santarcangelo Calcio, April 2022 Review
02.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Bassano Virtus (Lega Serie Bwin)
Amedeo Del Nevo buried a beauty to put us ahead, however a diving header from the Bassano defender beat Doria for pace to drag us back.
09.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 5 - 1 Lecce (Lega Serie Bwin)
Boom! Doubles for Wesley Verbeek and Sergio Corallo sandwiched a great header from Francesco Valentini to give us an emphatic win.
15.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Juve Stabia (Lega Serie Bwin)
Not a good birthday treat. We were terrible and paid the price.
23.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 1 Empoli (Lega Serie Bwin)
A Wesley Verbeek hat-trick settled this as we continued inexorably towards the title...
27.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Nocerina (Lega Serie Bwin)
A really tight game, settled by Wesley Verbeek and Cristian Conversano's goals to keep us on track.
30.04.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 Cremonese (Lega Serie Bwin)
With our TIM Coppa Italia final looming, I played the ENTIRE reserves for this match to rest the guys for it. A penalty from Marius Lupo and a low fizzer from Erik Gambella gave us the win against the league's bottom club
Excellent performance in the league that should see you promoted.
But the suspense is killing me!![]()
Another solid month, I'm guessing you've sealed promotion with ease? Good luck in the final![]()
Your birthday is the same as mine!![]()
As already stated, we're on the edge of our seats here (some quite literally, others not so, mainly due to them having terracing)
solid save so far, good luck in the cup final!
Santarcangelo Calcio, May 2022 Review
02.05.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1e Fiorentina (TIM Coppa Italia Final)
A cold, wet night greeted us in Rome for the TIM Coppa Italia Final. The game was very tit-for-tat, with a lot of long range shots going wide and not much action apart from a (rightly) disallowed goal by Giovanni Cristofari. A lot of yellows were given out and we lost Wesley Verbeek to a dead leg in the first half. Yet again, we took a Serie A TIM side to extra-time, however there was to be no fairytale ending as right on the stroke of HT in ET, a cross from the right was met by a flick-on header that looped agonisingly over Doria and into the net.. We poured forward, but to no avail. we'd lost, but the silver lining was we'd gained entry to the UEFA Europa League because Fiorentina had already gained UEFA Champions League football.
07.05.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Grosseto (Lega Serie Bwin)
A cup hangover awaited us as we never got out of the blocks for this one.
14.05.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Torino (Lega Serie Bwin)
This was a sickener. Torino took the three points and with it, guaranteed promotion.
21.05.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Livorno (Lega Serie Bwin)
PANIC STATIONS!!!
29.05.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Crotone (Lega Serie Bwin)
Young midfielder Daniele Moruzzi scored his first senior goal on his senior debut, but that was the only bright spot as three second half goals saw us defeated yet again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
That damn TIM Coppa Italia final! Because of the confidence lost after that heart-breaking late defeat, we didn't get a point in our last 4 games and finished 3rd in Lega Serie Bwin. From 1st on the 1st May to 3rd and playoffs by the end. Gutted.
totally undeserved.
I hope you manage to pull it off in the playoffs![]()
that sux. you'll do it in the playoffs.
Utterly unfair to have that as your reward for taking the cup seriously, and yet grimly predictable. Team meeting time?
Argh!!!! So depressing to have that happen.
As I was reading through this thread, I found myself thinking 'but could they do it on a cold wet night in Rome?' and I guess that's where it came undone.
Seriously though, a great career only beaten in greatness by the quality of this thread. KUTGW![]()
Santarcangelo Calcio, Postseason/June 2022 Review
01.06.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Sorrento (Lega Serie Bwin Playoff Semi Final, Leg 1)
A Wesley Verbeek hat-trick put us in pole position for the next stage, despite us missing 7 first teamers to internationals.
05.06.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Sorrento (Lega Serie Bwin Playoff Semi Final, Leg 2)
I played the reserves to keep the returning internationals and top players fresh for the next round. A 0-1 defeat meant nothing,
----------------FINAL-----------------
08.06.22
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 3 Padova (Lega Serie Bwin Playoff Final, Leg 1)
0-3 down at half time after a woeful display to two 30 yard screamers and an own goal. I was livid. It was slipping away AGAIN!!! I tore into my team and just after half time, Sebastian Mladen buried a penalty in the far corner to reduce the deficit and later on, Wesley Verbeek slammed home from close range to bring the game back to 2-3. We face an uphill climb in the second leg.
12.06.22
Santarcangelo Calcio e2 - 0 Padova (Lega Serie Bwin Playoff Final, Leg 2)
Sergio Corallo; club legend, record league goalscorer, goalless in over 700 mins, rifled the ball past the Padova keeper on 7 mins to bring the tie equal. Game on. We both battled hard, Mirco Doria making three or four unbelievable saves from point blank range. End of 90 mins and extra time beckoned. We'd lost last year in ET, as well as the recent cup final... Could we do better? The answer was "Yes!" as Luca Buldrini, a product of the Santarcangelo youth academy, bulleted home a header on 95 mins to give us the win and finally let us into the promised land!
