    Santarcangelo Calcio, Preseason/August 2015 Review

We had no retirees this season, however I picked up former Santarcangelo player Stéphane Sarni as a scout, thus increasing the number of ex-players in my backroom staff. I asked for and got an increase in Junior coaching. Our budgets were £13.25k wage and £2.85k transfer budgets in our first ever season in Lega Pro Prima Divisione A.

    ------------------------------------------------------

    Results
    03.08.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Nocerina (Coppa Italia, First Qualifying Round)
They had 11 shots on goal, 0 on target. And won 0-1. Marek Kysela's own goal settled it.

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Transfers
Only three buys this off-season, all on free's. AMC Gonçalo Brum, SW/DLC Giovanbattista Anastasi and DL Simone Lea all coming in to bolster various areas of the side. However, the real deals were done on a scouting trip to watch Italy U-20's vs Morocco U-20's. I was sat watching the game and two players on the opposition side stood out. On further enquires, they were both available on Bosman frees. Some quick deals later and I would have two cracking players in January. DR Mohamed Abdellaoui and ST Bilal Yilmaz. These two will be vital in January.

Only DM Andrea Consigu left the club, as he was whining about no game time and I had a decent youth in Cristian D'Amico as a third-choice backup.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, September 2015 Review

    Results
    06.09.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Casale (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We got our first ever points in our first ever Prima Divisione game. A bad deflection gave us the win.

    13.09.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Pavia (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Gianluca Bacchioochi stabbed home to give us the lead and the second own goal in two games sealed it for us, before Andrea Castellano missed a penalty.

    20.09.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Avelino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We couldn't break through and it was lucky that the defence was on form, especially as Sebastian Mladen was dismissed late on for a second yellow.

    27.09.15
    Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 S.P.A.L (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
A TERRIBLE pass-back by Simone Rea let in the Spal player to score the only goal in the game.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, October 2015 Review

    Results
    04.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 1 Virtus Entella (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We stormed past the team that finished above me in the league last season. Goals from Nicola Del Pivo, Jakob Vojtus and a Luca Onorato double saw us get a fabulous win.

    07.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Uniao Venezia (4-3 on pens) (Coppa Italia Lega Pro, First Round)
We stuttered and spluttered through this, not having beat them in the previous four encounters. So we went to penalties. We missed our first, but then netted the next four, including the winner from Valerio Verre

    11.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 San Marino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
    We dominated, but couldn't score.

    14.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Sassulo (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
    A dull draw

    18.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Feralpi Salo (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Andrea Castellano's penalty settled this game.

    25.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Bassano (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We just didn't play well, apart from Jakob Vojtus' magical goal

    14.10.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Pro Patria (Coppa Italia Lega Pro, Second Round)
Jakob Vojtus' cushioned header looped over the keeper and in via the underside of the bar to put us in the Third Round Group Stage.

Good start in league and the cup. Good goal by Vojtus, my players always fire it into the side netting from there.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, November 2015 Review

    Results
    01.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Taranto (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato's goal just before half-time won the game for us.

    08.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Lecco (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Pierre Pindi finished low under the keeper to set us on our way, then local lad Cristian D'Amico, brought through our (non-existant) youth system, netted his first ever senior goal late on.

    15.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Pro Vercelli (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We dominated, but couldn't finish them off and paid for it as the 10 men equalised with 5 minutes to go.

    18.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Alto Adige (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Third Round, Group B)
A simple stroll as we put Alto Adige to the sword. Jakob Vojtus hit a double and there was a first goal for free agent signing ST Angelo Belani

    22.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 1 Hellas Verona (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We were up against the league leaders in this one, the team relegated from Serie B and owners of a +29 goal difference. We humped them. Jakob Vojtus stabbed home after a great shot by Del Pivo came back off the angle. Nicola Del Pivo finished smartly at the near post just before HT and Andrea Castellano's penalty settled the affair.

    29.11.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 2 Treviso (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Disappointing game. Marek Kysela bundled home the opener, but Treviso were clinical in front of goal, taking the lead early in the second. However, Andrea Castellano's wonder strike tied it all up

    Santarcangelo Calcio, December 2015 Review

    Results
    06.12.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Pisa Calcio (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato's goal was just a consolation. What was sickening was that their two goals were scored from a standing position, off rebounds.

    09.12.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 0 Arezzo (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Third Round, Group B)
Gonçalo Brum fired home two penalties. Pierre Pindi hit the third and new arrival Bilal Yilmaz netted his first goal from the club.

    13.12.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Mantova (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Bilal Yilmaz hit a double on his league debut.

    20.12.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Pro Patria (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Nicola Del Pivo curled one in from 20 yards to give us the win to insure we finished 2015 in 2nd place

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

We really don't need any reinforcements in January, however the squad has grown somewhat so I need to either sell or ship out on loan.

Doing very well to keep the momentum from C2 to C1. A bit bizarre how it took you a while to start making any progress, and then suddenly everything clicks and you look good for back-to-back promotions. I know the gap between C2 and C1 is small, but still, strange.

That happened on FM11 for me too. Spent three years avoiding relegation by a place in Portugal, then made Europe the next season.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, January 2016 Review

    Results
    17.01.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Pavia (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato's howitzer of a strike was the only bright spot in an awful defeat against the only winless team in the league.

    31.01.16
    Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 S.P.A.L (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato tapped home the only goal of this game. That goal made him Santarcangelo's all-time top league goalscorer with 42 overall.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, February 2016 Review

    Results
    03.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Casale (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
This game was settled in the first 5 minutes as Luca Onorato equalised from Casale's opener.

    07.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Virtus Entella (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Another quick response to going a goal down. Luca Onorato rounding the keeper and slotting home, minutes after they took the lead.

    10.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 0 Avellino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Bilal Yilmaz hit the opener, before Luca Onorato settled the game late on.

    14.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 San Marino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
    A dull draw.

    17.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Foggia (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Semi-Final, First Leg)
We travelled the short 241 miles to Foggia for the First Leg of this Semi-Final. As the unfancied underdogs in this tie, it was amazing to actually take the lead with Bilal Yilmaz firing home on 28 minutes. Sadly, we conceded just before HT, but managed to grind out a draw .

    24.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio a0 - 0 Foggia (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Semi-Final, Second Leg)
We defended like lions in the second leg at home. The crowd willing us on as we played catenaccio to the limit to deny Foggia. After the final whistle blew, I recieved this message

    28.02.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Sassuolo (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
A disappointing defeat in that we couldn't match a streaking Sassuolo side who are firmly entrenching themselves in second place.

Just a heads up, you have an incomplete scoreline for the Casale game, even though we know it was 1-1.

I wouldn't be surprised. We're dreadful right now. It's the playoffs no matter what anyway, as Verona are light-years ahead of everyone.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, March 2016 Review

    Results
    06.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 0 Feralpi Salo (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato, Bilal Yilmaz and Andrea Castellano scored in the first half to put this game beyond reach.

    13.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 4 Bassano (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Andrea Castellano scored to give us scant consolation in another drubbing by a relegation-haunted team.

    20.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Taranto (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
A good point against the team equal with me on points.

    23.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Prato (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Final, First Leg)
We took the lead through Bilal Yilmaz before being pegged back.

    26.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Lecco (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Goncarlo Brum netted in the 88th minute to give us the win.

    30.03.16
Santarcangelo Calcio aet2 - 1 Prato (Coppa Italia Lega Pro Final, Second Leg)
We went down to a suspiciously offside goal in the first half and it took until the 89th minute for substitute Pierre Pindi to head home to get a dramatic equaliser. Extra time came and in the second period, Bilal Yilmaz stabbed home to bring home Santaracangelo's first ever trophy!

    Santarcangelo Calcio, March 2016 Review

    Results
    01.05.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Mantova (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Luca Onorato got the opener, but we conceded twice late on. This extremely damaging defeat left our playoff hopes dangling by a thread.

    08.05.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Pro Patria (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Bilal Yilmaz levelled it up for us midway through the first and that alone would have seen us qualify for the playoffs. However, we conceded on the stroke of HT and never recovered. We had a chance to seal the playoff spot on 82 mins, but I still can't watch it again.. Andrea Castellano was dismissed on 88 mins for a second yellow which was the crowning turd in the waterpipe.

    -------------------------------------------------------

We finally finished 6th in Lega Pro Prima Divisione A. A great result normally, but just an utterly devastating way to end the season. I've no idea about the coming season, simply as I'm still stunned from the way we gave up our season-long position. Luca Onorato managed to become our record league scorer this season and scored over 50 goals for the club, but he was horrifically streaky. I just don't know what to do apart from cry

Amazing job to win the Serie C cup, but gutted you just missed out on the playoffs

I do love the phrase "crowning turd in the waterpipe" however!

Hard lines, and I feel your pain. Still, you claimed a trophy and are moving to a new stadium. Two or three signings in the summer and you can look to go up automatically (just don't do what I did and quit the club!)

I'll try not to sign anyone really. I think this team can do it as they are!

I bet they can, but signing two or three top notch players from a position of strength can only help. I'm still gutted I didn't stay at Trapani, you know. So much so I'm tempted to start there again!

Yeah, I was loving my career there. I foolishly believed though that in three years I'd have done enough to earn a reasonable job, so only going to Perugia was a bit gutting. That old addage of not quitting a job until you have another one also applies on FM! But yes, I think I will.

I had to wait till I got to the Championship before my mental board decided to build a new stadium - I am now headed to the Premier League with a 5,000 stadium! Congratulations on the new stadium

Well done on the cup win, and a new stadium is good news too. Bad luck about how your league form petered out, but at least you know you're not too far off

    Santarcangelo Calcio, Preseason/August 2016 Review

Ivan Graziani retired after a good career and joined my coaching staff. We were again given the brief to avoid relegation and given a £12k wage budget and £0 transfer budget. This was £3k BELOW what my current wage budget was and the new board seemed to be arseholes in that they denied all my requests for upgrades and improvements. Like Arsenal, this new stadium would be a millstone round our neck for a few years. So, I took the decision. We had to sell key names and high earners to survive until then. It promises to be a rocky road and not much fun, but I feel we can do it.
    ------------------------------------------------------

    Results
    03.08.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 0 Nardo (Coppa Italia, First Qualifying Round)
We bossed this game from start to finish. Sebastian Mladen headed home to give us the lead before goals from Luca Onorato, an own goal and a debut goal for Calogero Socre settled the tie.

    03.08.15
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0p Pescara (4-3 on pens) (Coppa Italia, Second Qualifying Round)
We held the Serie B side off for 120 mins, however Sebastian Mladen and Calogero Socre missed our first two penalties wide and that was us, despite Pescara missing their first too..

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Transfers
We weren't particularly active in this window, simply as we couldn't afford to! However, incoming were AMC Juan Pastore (yes, brother of Javier), DM/MC Thomas Sarina, ST Calogero Socre and DC Andrea Sangiorgio. Also coming in were two DR's from parent club Parma; Luigi Bonizzoni and Vincenzo Superbi. Finally, ST Marc Vilajosana came in on loan from Manacor.

The outgoings were rather more brutal. MC Andrea Castellano was sold to Xerez for £24k + 25%; ST Bilal Yilmaz got a £400k + 25% move to FC Sion and ST Pierre Pindi was sold for £130k + 50% to Vannes OC. Also leaving were ST Jakob Vojtus for £12k to Portimonese and DM/MC Valerio Verre for £20k + 20% to Aversa Normanna. I regret a lot of these sales so much, but even with all that, we are still only £1k under our budget and didn't receive ANY cash towards the transfer budget.

I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to do this season. The team is still 80% the same, but a lot of the big players from last season; Yilmaz, Castellano and Pindi are going to be pretty irreplaceable. The other problem is club captain Sebastian Mladen is out of contract at the end of the season and I just can't afford to keep him. We had a balance of £330k at the beginning of the season and it's falling away fast.

    Santarcangelo Calcio, September 2016 Review

    Results
    04.09.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Taranto (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Nicola Del Pivo got the only goal of the game, tapping home after the keeper dropped the ball at his feet.

    11.09.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 Pisa Calcio (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Calogero Socre and Luca Onorato netted two early goals before conceding one midway through the second.

    18.09.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Avelino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We looked toothless and conceded in the 88th minute.

    25.09.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0 Alessandria (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
A number of injuries to key players meant we defended with our lives to grab the point

    Santarcangelo Calcio, October 2016 Review

    Results
    02.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 1 Padova (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Calogero Socre got the opener before the recently-relegated ex-Serie B side equalised in the 90th minute.

    05.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 0 Cosenza (Coppa Italia Lega Pro First Round)
Emanuele Paramatti, the local-born youth player, scored the only goal of this tight game.

    09.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 1 Modena (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We defended well against the other relegated Serie B side and went down to an 82nd minute winner.

    12.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 2 - 1 Treviso (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Calogero Socre opened the scoring with a rasping 25 yard strike and Kadir Caldi finished them off with a good header

    16.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Pro Vercelli (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Two deflected goals beat us in theis encounter

    23.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 Casale (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
We played terribly and deserved to be beaten

    26.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 0p Andria Bat (3-1 on pens)(Coppa Italia Lega Pro Second Round)
Didn't care, played a lot of youth/backups, lost on pens.

    30.10.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 4 - 0 Pro Patria (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
I held a team meeting before the match to try to solve our bad form. It clearly worked as goals from Calogero Socre, Kadir Caldi, Matteo Gandelli and a first senior goal for youth striker Sergio Corallo saw us romp home. .

    -----------------------------------------------

The intensive schedule, plus the injury to Luca Onorato meant I was forced to rely on my youth strikers a lot this month and they battled manfully. Also Nicola Del Pivo made his 200th league appearance for the club.

Three fantastic youth prospects there, and a big congrats on your new stadium looming in the horizon. That should help you out financially when it's done. Are you filling out your current stadium frequently? I suppose so, or the board wouldn't build a new one.

Hope you can turn it around this season, looks like a rough start.

That's the point. We aren't filling our stadium! We're running at 53% capacity, which is up from the 22% capacity when I took over the club!

Never a truer word spoken! We currently have a bank balance of £200k, yet every report I see has us in poor financial shape, thusly blocking a new pitch, actually having some facilities of our own etc etc.

This money situation mystified me until I looked at the club worth. We're worth £250k, up from £50k when I took over. So it's all good on that front. Loan debt? £8m!!!!

That's what I'm struggling with. To saddle a club of our size with £8m debt is nothing short of utterly insane. I foresee a new chairman soon and 9 points deducted, just as we're not going to be able to sustain ourselves with this level of debt.

    13.11.16
    Santarcangelo Calcio 3 - 1 S.P.A.L (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Sergio Corallo and Calogero Sorce again hit the target and a Gonçalo Brum free-kick put the icing on the cake. That win vaulted us into the playoff race.

    20.11.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 3 Mantova (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Sergio Corallo levelled it up just before HT, but two early goals in the second sunk us.

    27.11.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 0 - 2 San Marino (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
A disappointing defeat that put us back out of the playoff places.

    04.12.16
Santarcangelo Calcio 1 - 2 Feralpi Salo (Lega Pro Prima Divisione A)
Gianluca Bacchiocchi curled home a free-kick to level it up, but we conceded a 92nd minue winner.

Sergio Corallo scored the opener, before Nicola Del Pivo's bobbling strike, Sebastian Mladen's penalty and Calogero Socre's cool finish put us in the driving seat, all before HT!.

Comedy third goal that we conceded.

Just catching up....congrats on winning the Coppa Italia Lega Pro,was a shame to see your team choke in the league which cost you a playoff spot.

Your old board were a bunch of idiots in building a new stadium and racking up the debt, although your new board don't appear to be any better.

You seem a bit inconsistent in the league but hopefully your players will kick up their performances and you can get a bit of consistency together to help you push up the table.

    Keep up the good work

Another defeat put us only 3 points ahead of the relegation battle!.

Luca Onorato netted a late equaliser to stablise us somewhat.

Luca Onorato fired home to give us a priceless win.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

I brought in DRC Francesco Ferrani on loan from parent club Parma and sold AMC Gonçalo Brum for £100k + 50% to União da Madeira. I also reached a deal with Foggia for £75k + 50% for Calogero Socre, however the deal fell through as the player and club couldn't agree terms by 1 February.

There were NO shots on target in this match. Says it all.

What a difference, a month makes. From a place outside the relegation zone at the end of January, we've rocketed to a place outside the playoffs, only on goal difference at the end of February!

However, this league is EXTREMELY tight, as shown...

A cracking intake for us. The fact our junior coaching is rated as 'Good' seems to mean we've been getting some gems in! The top four this year were

    GK Mirco Doria

    DR Nunzio Novelli

    ST Cosimo Febbraro

    MC Cristian Pinton
