FM2012 randomly pegging CPU and slowing (OSX/Steam)

I have a pretty nice machine (2x2.8ghz quad core Mac Pro w/ 10GB RAM) & FM2011 was flawless, so I'm confused: but every so often (well, more than that...) the game just grinds to a halt. The live TV view is very very slow and glitchy. It probably happens 40% of matches. Then every other time it's absolutely flawless. Activity Monitor shows FM2012 using 40% of the CPU and just grinding away.

Any ideas why this happens and what I can do to fix it? It sucks..
