The main idea behind the Danny Roberts challenge, is to have 1 player score 1,000 goals for club and country under your management. There are no rules as to how you attain the player, although the editor MUST NOT be used. Season reports of potential challengers are encouraged.

During the past 4 incarnations of the game, a fair few players have gone on to achieve the feat of scoring 1,000 + goals. It is widely known that Roberts is regarded as the most amazing player of all to achieve the landmark, due to the fact he scored all 1,000+ club goals in the Premiership under the management of dafuge.

Feel free to enter in as many as possible, and we'll keep more of a track of the entries and goals in this thread, and compile some top 10's as the thread progresses.

As far as I know, there were no players that completed the challenge in FM09 (although I know some are close, and still going) - but FM08 was ripe with 1,000 goal scorers.

Challenge Rules :

This challenge can be attempted while playing any other challenges. So those of you having a crack at Gundo's, Rancers, canvey!!'s or dafuge's Challenge that come across a fantastic prospect for this challenge, feel free to come in and post your updates.

Use of an EDITOR is not permitted, unless the use is ONLY for league editing. Should there be any potential evidence to assume foul play with regards to this rule, the rule will be revoked, and no editing will be allowed. Please don't take ruin this for others by cheating.

Any player involved in this challenge MUST score the goals under human management. Therefore, if you have Player A and Club X and he scores 500 goals, then you move clubs, the player only has 500 goals towards the tally. If you buy the player and take him with you, and he scores 500 more, this will make his 1,000. If you do not buy him and he scores 500 more, this DOES NOT count towards the Challenge Tally and must not be added into final totals.

International Goals count either under Human, OR AI management.

Friendly International Goals DO Count.

Friendly Club Goals DO NOT Count.

* Danny Roberts had all of his information lost in the forum purge last year. dafuge remembers his final total to be 1,089, which I have no reason to disbelieve. The screen shot provided, is the only screen shot left of Roberts, and will have to be enough for those of you that are interested.

Would love to be able to do this for once. Last year got an amazing player scoring 80-90 goals per season in the Premiership, then the board decided to sell him over my head for 94 million to fund a new stadium

Just an observation here, but I reckon there's going to be a few 1000+ players this year. Seems high scoring games are more common in FM12 (i.e. beat Norwich 9-3 with Man City), should be interesting to see just how many get there.

This thread hasn't been posted in for a while, but I would like to say I am very close to the 1000 goal mark with my 30 year old striker, as Leeds in the Prem... he's currently on 974, including his ridiculous 122 goals for France. Do U21 goals count? Because if they did, he would be even closer

Sorry, I completely forgot. I have played a while into the future now, so I only have a picture of him as a staff member. He has 141 France goals, and 884 goals during his time at Leeds. 884 + 141 = 1025 goals

Gosh, reviving a thread so dead I couldn't even find it the first time I looked. Eeek.

Anyway, so having completed Gundo's FM12 European Adventure Challenge, I've kept the game going for two reasons. First, to try and make Belgium a major force in world football (which is turning into a struggle as no other club will step up and help). Secondly, I just adore Francisco Fernandez, who is fast becoming my favourite FM player ever. So here's an update on his progress towards the magic 1000.

First spotted in Argentina at the age of 16, it took me three scouting missions to make up my mind that he was worth buying. Joining a few weeks after his 18th birthday, it did take him a little while to settle in, even as late as 21, my coaches still weren't convinced he would ever be better than my at the time star front man Ghiles Mazari. Then the training took hold, and it's been all goals, all the time since then.

Fernandez just scored his 600th goal under my management, rounding off a hat-trick against Real Madrid in the 92nd minute to get there. Still only 28, and scoring faster than a goal an HOUR, I only have to pray he stays injury free for him to make the 1000.

Notes : I couldn't get the exact screens I wanted, his breakthrough season especially, he was still only good rather than great at 21. The attributes in the training screen are as follows :

I haven't got close to 1000 since Danny Roberts back on FM06, but I've finally done it

He's not the greatest player in the World and he did do it in Northern Ireland, but on the plus side he did come through the club's academy.

He's probably got a few years left in him, so his total could improve (has a chance of 1000 club goals), but here's the 1000:
