Champions League first knockout round leg 2 - Bourneview vs Atlético Madrid
My team were exhausted, but at least we managed to score a goal.
Champions League first knockout round leg 2 - Bourneview vs Atlético Madrid
My team were exhausted, but at least we managed to score a goal.
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2016/17
Last year we won the league, so this was our debut in the Champions League.
League Table
Just the one loss, we still can't seem to achieve the unbeatable season.
Mid-Ulster Cup - we reached the quarter finals before unluckily losing on penalties.
Irish League Cup - I rotated the squad and they got beaten in the semi final.
Irish Cup - we took this one seriously, and won it.
Setanta Cup - another one we took seriously, but the final was close.
UEFA Champions League - we had an incredible run which ended in the first knockout round.
Squad - the squad is good, but it needs to be big to cope with the demands of the fixture list.
Transfers - the usual free transfers.
Finances - we are now minted, I just hope some money is invested in the facilities.
Key Player Profiles:
Martin Zelenka - top scorer once again.
Liam Harris - best as an AMC, but did well as the supporting striker.
John Finch - superb from the left wing.
Tom Richardson - easily our best player, but next season will be his last.
Ilker Ozbek - new to the team but already a key player.

In terms of Europe, this was an unbelievable season, I'd be surprised if we could repeat this. The real challenge is to improve the squad enough to be able to keep this sort of performance up consistently, which could take some time. We have a number of key players who's contracts are expiring, so my job for the next few years is to make sure we have a constant stream of talent coming in, as there will undoubtedly be a lot leaving.
That Champions League campaign is unbelievable, congratulations.
Stadium expansion announced
Not really an expansion, they are just converting the standing area to seating. Hopefully we will be able to make the most of the ground share in the meantime.
Shouldn't you be getting more money than that for playing in the Champions League? I thought there was a £20m+ payout at the end of the season?

It has been long overdue, but finally we have turned professional. We are also able to scout anywhere in Europe.
Time to kick on![]()
doing well mate. grats on Pro
Its amazing what youve done is such a short period of time. Will you be sticking this one out in the Irish league?
Is there no one worth spending a fee on?Transfers - the usual free transfers.
What a cracking first european adventure! I knew you'd walk the league fairly quickly but I never saw that one coming.
Still early days reputationwise,I think you'll still have some problems attracting good enough contracted players, they probably don't want to join...
Looking forward to see what happens next.![]()
Champions League champions second qualifying phase leg 1 - Maribor vs Bourneview
It was a very shaky start, but the away goal may come in handy.
Not a bad result - depends on what happens in the home leg of course!
Champions League champions second qualifying phase leg 2 - Bourneview vs Maribor
Completely different to the first leg, we controlled the game and got an easy win. Shamrock Rovers are next up![]()
Your doing absolutely amazing. Great work!
Champions League champions third qualifying phase leg 1 - Bourneview vs Shamrock Rovers
We were awful.
I should've waited till after the match before talking about how well you were doing...
Hopefully leg 2 will be an outstanding win, always possible, only need to win by a margin of three and four or more goals.
Champions League champions third qualifying phase leg 2 - Shamrock Rovers vs Bourneview
It was a big improvement, but the damage was already done. Gutted.
After last season that must feel like a right kick in the nuts![]()
Been reading this whole thread last night. Insane progress in such short time. I've seen some people saying FM12 is easy, but this is something else.
Tho that defeat against Shamrock probably is good to take your team confidence back down to earth.![]()
Europa league 4th qualifying round leg 1 - Bourneview vs Nacional da Madeira
Things were looking good until we threw it away.
ouch. that sucks mate.
things starting to fall apart. you need to have a good team meeting and shout until you are blue in the face :P
Europa league 4th qualifying round leg 2 - Nacional da Madeira vs Bourneview
This game came just two days after our crucial league game with Linfield. We got slaughtered.
Unlucky run this season - it always sucks when a season starts bad as it's a while before you can try again![]()
You should have enough money to cover this little dip though, and it shouldn't hurt you long-term.
I think, if anything, your initial success was a bit misleading. The club really weren't good enough to get the knockout stage of the Champions League, but it was a freak season. You're probably settling down to a more realistic level at the moment.
Come on, losing to Nacional of all teams, and 5-0? Northern irish football truly is crap.
Better luck next season, I'm assuming you're going to walk the domestic league as expected.
Ouch. That's got to hurt. Any thoughts on what accounts for the difference from last season? Less squad unity due to players agitating for a move away?
An unbeaten season has to be on the cards this year![]()
I have faith![]()
Unlucky on the Champions League this year Dafuge.
Go for that unbeaten season now!![]()
daf do an undefeated season? E-a-s-y.![]()
Just catching up here and - wow!A great Champions League campaign!! A shame you couldn't follow it up (must have been especially gutting to lose out to Shamrock Rovers). On the domestic front, do you feel you're set in for a long period of dominance or will that take a while to establish?
I think I could have had it if I was able to keep hold of my players, but that hasn't been the case. I've lost almost my entire midfield so I'm in the process of rebuilding the squad, and it won't be as strong as it was last season.
I think I could get there eventually, but it feels like it is two steps forward followed by one back at the moment.
At least with that happening an element of challenge appears. What are Portstewart like and what is their history on the game Daf? My mate has just moved there and I think we're going to totally check out a match when I visit (also I might start with them when I finally get around to buying the bloody game).
Portstewart - they are a relatively new club (1968) and don't seem to have much of a history outside of the lower leagues. They nearly got relegated from the lowest league in the first season.
Portstewart are hard work, I chose to work them as until recently I lived basically beside their home (Seahaven) Great challenge tho... I'm no dafuge tho!
Thats a fantastic result! It must be terribly frustrating not being able to keep your best players - Im currently trying to keep mine in my save, but its looking like a tough task!
Massive win.
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2017/18
Last season we performed miracles in Europe, could we do it again?
League Table
Another easy win, but the undefeated season was a long way off.
Mid-Ulster Cup - the reserves won this one.
Irish League Cup - for the first time we managed to win this one.
Irish Cup - it looked nailed on, then we blew the final.
Setanta Cup - a spectacular comeback saw us win this one again.
UEFA Champions League - not something I want to talk about. The Europa League was even worse.
Squad - no doubt this is a step back, but at least they are happy.
Transfers - my star players were all shipped out as their contracts were expiring. I tried going into the transfer market to replace them but I think it was a waste of money, they were no better than the players I was getting for free.
Key Player Profiles:
Stevo Smiljanic - he was signed as backup but after performing well in the cups he soon found himself in the first team.
Tamás Fábián - he was my big hope, but he didn't quite deliver.
Martin Zelenka - he was injured so I couldn't cash in on him.
Mustafa Arikan - the new star midfielder.
Charles Kherri - I paid big money for him, he might have been worth it.

The performance in Europe was devastating, I'm hoping we can improve on that next season.
Tamas Fabian has the same birthday as me
Anyways, shame about Europe, good luck next year.
So Europe looks the problem dafuge!!!! I know the long run aim, but what is your aim in Europe over the next few seasons? How far do you think your off going the league campaign unbeaten as well?

I don't think Europe is really a problem yet, we have had one stupidly good year and one slightly bad year, I'm hoping things will settle down soon. I'm hoping that we can start to qualify for the group stages consistently, but I think that could be a few years off yet.
As for the unbeaten season, that is just luck. I think we are capable now, we just need to get lucky.
Champions League champions second qualifying phase leg 1 - Bourneview vs Xazar
It was a pretty easy win over the opponents from Azerbaijan.
Solid result there, hope for a good run this time around.![]()
Champions League champions second qualifying phase leg 2 - Xazar vs Bourneview
Job done, but with Red Star up next we have a tough match.
Champions League champions third qualifying phase leg 1 - Bourneview vs Red Star
We threw away our lead, but it could have been worse.
Champions League champions third qualifying phase leg 1 - Red Star vs Bourneview
It was a superb win as we turned a close match into an easy win thanks to some great counter attacking football.
Excellent in Europe so far.
Champions League champions playoff leg 1- Bourneview vs Litex
Not an ideal result, but it could have been worse. We will need a great performance in the away leg if we are going to get through.
Champions League champions playoff leg 2 - Litex vs Bourneview
It was a huge improvement from the first leg as we took them apart. We are back in the big time
We've drawn Arsenal, Bayern and Bordeaux. Not an easy group, so a point would be a great achievement.

Great away performances dafuge. Do you alter your tactics away from home or just catch them off guard with your usual style of play?
Tough group - a shame that points (and therefore extra prize money) will be hard to come by!
I stick to the same tactics, although they do seem to be well suited to counter attacking away from home.
I just wish we were playing like that in the league![]()
Man, that is a tough group! Although the financial benefits will be worth it![]()
Champions league group stage - Bordeaux vs Bourneview
We played quite well but they showed their superiority in their finishing.
Not a great start to the season by i'm sure being back in the CL group stages makes up for that so far. I also notice that Bourneview are sporting a new shirt!
Making the CL group stage is huge, I'd happily swap a league title for that. The new shirts look great, I have hammer9 from sortitoutsi.net to thank for those.
I'm going to stop the updates for every match in the group stage (which could well be six defeats) but I'll post it if we manage to get an interesting result.
Great job making the group stage again! Hope you can pull off another upset and grab 3rd spot at least.
Woah, definitely one of the hardest draws you could have got.
How do you edit your kit during a saved game? Sorry I'm a relative Noob
You just need to create/edit a config file then reload the skin (with skick cache unticked).
Probably impossible at this moment to beat the Champions League campaign of two years ago, but very nice achievement to reach the groups again.
How many did Arsenal put past your team then? 7? 8?![]()
That'll be 8 or 9 I guess.
Have you had many if any job offers in this career daf?
thats shocking
Yeah I haven't even won the Norwegian League on my save (I did win the Cup), and got offers from Premier League clubs in Finland, Sweden, Belgium, and Russia. I'm surprised you got no offers.
Cheers, your not only a legend but a gentleman!
Amazing Read as always Daf![]()
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2018/19
Last season we slipped up in Europe, so that was a priority this time around.
League Table
We had a terrible start, but chased Linfield down. In the end we won it fairly easily as the split did us a favour.
Mid-Ulster Cup - the fringe players were doing well, but slipped up in the final with an ex player scoring the equaliser and the winning penalty.
Irish League Cup - an easy win, despite rotating the squad.
Irish Cup - I always take this one seriously, and we won it back after getting revenge over the club who beat us in the final last year.
Setanta Cup - this victory felt rather good.
UEFA Champions League - we made it through the qualifiers thanks to some great away performances, but the group stage was too much for us as we got hammered.
Squad - after losing a number of key players last season, I'm getting back to that sort of standard. There are still a few weak points, but this is probably the best squad I've had.
Transfers - I've experimented in the transfer market (whilst still breaking even) but I'm still going to be looking to bring in a number of free transfers.
Key Player Profiles:
Jerry Quansah - he was brought in as a new main striker and did pretty well. I think I can get better though.
Darlan - bought as a reserve AMC, he's found himself doing well up front.
Mustafa Arikan - great stuff from the midfielder who has kept my £1.2m signing out of the first team.
Stevo Smiljanic - his record is misleading as he plays the cup games, but he's a great player to have in reserve.
Gabriel Hernández - the big money signing, who can't quite get in the first team.

The club is slowly moving forward, with improvements to the training facilities and expansions to the stadium taking it to triple its previous size (now a massive 1500!). I'm definitely finding better players who are willing to join me, but I think it will be a while before we are able to get out of the group stage barring another miracle.
Another successful season - certainly, improvements are being made!

Very big improvement for Bourneview in UEFA coefficients. Might be just enough to ensure easier opponents in qualifying stages, and maybe even 3rd hat in UCL draw.
What are your finances looking like dafuge? Would be interesting to see your yearly income & expenditature.
An astonishing rise in the 7 seasons! Any plans to go International, or are you concentrating on club?
Also, do you think if the main aim is to get the dynamic league rep working you'd need to get Bourneview so far and then get another team from the league to the same level? Will be interesting to see if one team can drag the whole league upwards and then whether the other teams improve to similar levels...
This is where I failed in all my attempts in FM11 to improve league reputation. With Hearts I were doing well, but Celtic and Rangers failed miserably. With Dnipro I also had great results, but Shakhtar and Dynamo Kiev let me down, etc.
Finances - I've spent a little bit of money this season but the vast majority of the CL just sits there. With the wage budget increasing though it won't be long until we will need to rely on the CL money.
