Canvey Island FC - Season 2014/15 - League Two
League
Had a complete overhaul of both players and tactics over the summer as I felt we were quite lucky to get promoted from the Blue Square Prem, and I continued my policy of buying young players (mainly as they're the only ones who want to join), whilst reverting to a simple 4-4-2. The main surprise was letting Artymatas (one of my best players over the last two seasons) leave on a free, as I felt he was demanding too much money for being fairly average. I also used the loan market more this year, mainly for backup players. Started the season fairly well, but as the players grew into the tactic we got better and better, with defence being a surprising area of strength. Annoyingly, my best CB (Seidu) broke his leg and will be out until October, whilst our top goalscorer (Paul) also got injured for 6 weeks at a crucial time. As seems to be the case, I started the season about £2,000 under the wage budget and finished £1,000 p/week over it as better players finally cut their losses and joined us.
In the end, the league was fairly straightforward, and we secured a third successive promotion, winning the competition outright as our nearest challengers, Crewe and Shrewsbury, contrived to drop points all over the place. With a bit of recruitment for a few positions this summer, we should be able to survive in League One - I'll be stunned if we even challenge for promotion again!
Final position: 1st - Winners
League Table
Cups
Knocked out League 1 Preston en route to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup, where we got another money-spinning away day at Spurs. We performed much better than last year away at Sunderland, and only lost 3-0 - probably should have grabbed at least a consolation, but class told. Again, didn't care about the JPT or League Cup
FA Cup: 3rd Rnd loss to Tottenham (0-3 away)
League Cup: 1st Rnd loss to QPR - (0-1 away)
Johnstone's Paint Trophy: 2nd Rnd loss to Stevenage - (1-2 home)
Players of the Season
Squad
Marcus Bent found this league a bridge too far, retiring at the end of the season having played a bit-part role. Taking up the mantle was Bill Paul, who lead the line well, as well as January signing Giovanni Policano, both of whom have the potential to be decent Premiership players. At the back, Seidu was a rock again, with summer signing Gerard Hoey providing some much needed solidity at right-back. We could still use a solid defensive mid, but Massimo Luongo gave us a bit of flair in the middle, as well as a few screamers.
Top goalscorer: Bill Paul, 24 (21 in League)
Most assists: Darren Mailey, 16 (14 in League)
2015/16 Season Thoughts:
I think we should be ok, but a strong holding mid and a left back will be important. It would also be great to get some older loanees in for tutoring and experience. Ideally one season of consolidation followed by a strong challenge in 16/17.

Just purchased 12 will be having a bash.
10 games in with chester 2nd in the league all seems to be going to well for me even when i got beat 3-0 i went and beat some team in the cup 7-1 and everyones moral went from poor to good so what worked out well. brought in 5 players and tried to tie down some of the better players to full time contracts all going well so far
Started as Cambridge City in the BSN, looking at my facilities I've noticed that I'm moving to a new ground on the 1st July 2013. I'm going from a ground that holds 2k to one that holds 1.75k.
4 games in 5 players stretchered off, now 6 off in 5, 7 in 6

Fortunately I've got a job with a newly promoted side, with Cambridge City the wage budget was the 21st largest in the division.
Won first two - 3 players stretcherd off.

We also won the paint trophy, again, with a 6-0 demolition.

Oh and we finally lost the mighty Graham Hurst, his stats were rubbish (see previous post), but a combination of work-rate/speed/two-footedness made him a goalscoring god. He'll be missed.

Congrats on the 4 consecutive promotions.
Thank you. I wasn't sure anyone actually read this thread, as opposed to just posting updates in it.
Championship is like jumping several leagues though, it really is a completely different ball game. I can't attract good enough players, so it's going to be a slog this time.
I managed to get relegated from thge BSN with Cambridge City.

Not much to say really, board gave me a tiny wage budget and only expected me to avoid relegation, this I did quite easily.
I'm loving the feature where you can see the wage budgets for teams, I think mine was 21st, still lost a shedload of cash over the season.
Just noticed my budget £150k, Darlingtons is £775k.

A big improvement on last year but a dissapointing end, I was on course for a play-off postion but 1 win in March meant I was always playing catch-up.
Missed out by three points, not bad I suppose with the 17th largest wage budget, on the down side ALL my coaches want twice as much as I'm allowed to pay them.
Oh bloody hell - my wage budget has been cut by a sixth down to £2.5k a week
I'm going to give this a bash, Mr Holiday Man is set up, will just wait to see who I get!
Ok, I have taken over as the mighty Marine! here is a screenshot as requested in the OP!

Canvey Island FC - Season 2014/15 - League One
League
Having built quite a nice squad last year, we didn't really need much going into League One...or so I thought. The main issue was squad depth, as most of our backups would have barely been good enough for Blue Square Premiership sides. As a result, we played the loan market and brought in a few young players from Premiership sides - mostly to bolster midfield. Again, I tweaked the tactics a bit, particularly in attack. In truth I was never really happy with the team's play up front, as I think we should still be scoring more goals. Defence was much improved though, with the first-choice back four of Edwards, Cueto, Seidu and Hoey barely letting anything past them.
We started the season well, and remained in third place for much of the campaign, with Crewe and Crawley always just a few points ahead. However, in early February we went on an unbeaten run of 18 games, winning 14 of them, which opened up an 8-point lead at the top. Although we stuttered towards the end, including a painful 4-0 defeat to Sheff Utd, in the end we closed out with a 1-0 win over 3rd place Crewe to secure the title.
Final position: 1st - Winners
League Table
Cups
Got to the 3rd round of the FA Cup again, where we succumbed to Premiership opposition Norwich. Again, didn't care about the JPT or League Cup.
FA Cup: 3rd Rnd loss to Norwich (1-3 home)
League Cup: 1st Rnd loss to Charlton - (0-2 away)
Johnstone's Paint Trophy: 3rd Rnd loss to Ebbsfleet - (0-3 away)
Players of the Season
Squad
As mentioned before, the defence were the star performers this season. Strikers Bill Paul again produced the goals up front and still has 2 stars of potential left to fill, whilst his partner Giovanni Policano also performed well, in spite of a long-term injury. Youngster Josh Wood is also a potential star in the making. The final mention goes to Massimo Luongo, who played well this season - however, his demands of £5k wages will likely mean that he moves on this summer.
Top goalscorer: Bill Paul, 30 (28 in League)
Most assists: Giovanni Policano, 18 (15 in League)
2015/16 Season Thoughts:
We've made a few new signings already, sticking to the blueprint of picking up released youth players with the potential to improve. First up is Della Marca, a strong centre back who was released from Bayern, and more are in the pipeline. With a war-chest of £1 million to attack the Championship with, as well as a new stadium on the way, things are looking good!

Most assists: Iker Martínez, 18 (13 in PL)
Highest Average rating: Lukas Bader, 7.44 (7.51 in PL)
2027-28 Season Review:
While trying to deploy a new offensive set of tactics, the opening season to those have been good. We won everything domesticly, and only lost due a very bad game away to Bayern after winning 1-0 at home. Our new signings made a big impact and will continue to be the backbone of the cub. Due to rotating more than usual instead of one goalscorer we had goals divided to many more players. All in all a great season.
Player of the season:
Jérémy Dumont - MC / AM RC - Took a great leap in perfomances with the teams new style.
Other Key Players
Philippe Le Bars - D LC / WB L - New signing. Playing incredibly at the age of 20.
Iker Martínez - M C - The creative part of my midfield. Excels in the teams new playing style
Lukas Bader - AM RL / S C - FWA footballer of the year. Well-deserved.
Hughes Fred - AM C / ST - Rotating with Pasini getting most of the important matches.
2027/28 Season Preview:
So yet again we failed the champions league. I need a couple of pieces in my puzzle. A new RB, a new AMR and possibly a new DC. If we get these needs filled I will dream of european glory. And besides that we need some depth in the team. I have high thoughts of the key players, and have a bunch of good youngsters approaching the first team. I feel good about the new season.

Carling Cup: 4th Rnd loss on penalties(after 1-1) to Brighton(Championship)
Champions League: Winners! 4-1 win against Tottenham
Community Shield: Winners! 3-2 win against Arsenal
Best result: 4-0 home win against Bayern Munich(Champions League knockout round)
Worst result: 0-4 loss away to Manchester United
Top goalscorer: Hughes Fred & Lukas Bader, 27 (17 & 16 in PL)
Most assists: Iker Martínez, 21 (14 in PL)
Highest Average rating: Lukas Bader, 7.60 (7.49 in PL)
2028-29 Season Review:
I was getting bored as I won the cups and the league 3 years in a row, so the objective was solely the Champions league. However a couple of very bad results in the cup and down 3 point in the final day of the season, we were looking at a domestic season with only the community shield. We conquered the 1st place in the premiership on the final day of the season. 61 minutes in and we were 4-0 up and United were down 2-0. So a horrible season was avoided and a week later we bet Spurs in the champions league final. A final in which we created 7 CCC's despite only 9 shots at goal.
Player of the season:
Lukas Bader - AM RL / ST - Has been vital to all 5 championships, and yet again this season.
The team:
Dario - GK - Playing solidly although not as last year. Missed the ChL final due to an injury.
Tomas Svoboda - GK - Wonderkid. Played only the ChL final.
Philippe Le Bars - D LC / WB L - Key player both offensively and defensively.
Daniel Battaglia - D / WB L - Backup to Le Bars. Played against weaker opponents.
Liu Tiesheng - D C - The backbone of the defense.
Jef Tol - D C - Wonderkid. Surpassed Glauber and Prieto for a first team spot.
Glauber - D C - Playing a good although not great season.
Hernan Prieto - D C - Played sparingly at the end of the season.
Gerardo Brito - D / WB R - The weakest link of the team.
Marco Oliveira - D / DM / M C - Has been here all the way. Although injuries-riddled season this time .
Neto - D / DM / M C - Wonderkid. Played sparingly when in congestion.
David Hoyle - D / M C - Wonderkid. Playes more and more as the season progressed.
Salvatore Nughes - DM / M C - Rotation player.
Jérémy Dumont - M C / AM RC - Played incredible. However injuries destroyed the second part of his season.
Souleymane Cissé - WB / M / AM R - Bought for 40 million. I wanted him. Playes well.
Lukas Bader - AM RL / S C - Does it all. Incredible player bought for £750K
Necmettin Kanagi - M R / AM R - Wonderkid. Loaned out but called home due to injuries.
Anas Benali - M R / AM R - Wonderkid. Favoured to stay over Kanagi. Playing well above expected.
Troy Gough - M L / AM L - Even lesser role than previous years.
Diego Soler - AM L / S C - Injuryriddled second part of the season. A beast when healthy
Hughes Fred - AM C / S C - Rotating with Soler and Bader.
Diego Pasini - AM C / S C - Considered a fringe player, but got his matches due to injuries.
Evandro - AM C / S C - Wonderkid. Brought up to the first team due to injuries playing a couple of unimportant games.
A have played a combination of 5-2-3, 4-1-2-2-1 and 4-2-1-3
2028/29 Season Preview:
So I've completed the challenge and as of right now have no desire to continue. However I have a good setup with a lot of good youngsters. Besides that I have to young forwards at U18 level i would like to groom. If I continue at a later date the goal will be winning everything :-)
I honestly have gotten so much fun out of this game since starting this challenge. The final match in the Blue square premier against Luton is still probably the highlight. Winning would mean I won the league by a point. Losing would mean LUTON won the league by 5, or 2 if they held the draw. What a match. It ended 2-1 to us (Billy Murray around 70mins I think it was lol) and led to our first trophy and promotion. It was just awesome.
I'm in season 8 now and amazingly challenging for the Championship title (sitting top of the table in Dec 2019). Starting to struggle with the homegrown rule though so I'm going to have to do a slight rebuild next season.
My team is almost identical to the one I built in league 2 where we made a jammy playoff promotion to League 1. We completely annihilated League 1 the next season though. The first Champ season went well (10th final place) but there was a string of horrible results and form including a bitter 6-0 against Wolves, we sat just outside relegation for a lot of last seasonThere was a point were all my strikers were either injured of completely out of form and I was convinced we had peaked too early and were heading for relegation.
I was worried about this season but felt the break went well and snapped up two very promising players. I have the next Sĝren Larsen
I was expecting a top half finish at best this season if we were lucky but we are absolutely killing the Championship and looking good to win it if we can hold our form
I honestly never thought of updating here, I just kind of started and ran with it. I do have the backup saves from every season though so I'll try loading them up for some screenshots later.

Sorry if I make a mess of this, its hard going back and finding screens. Next time I take on a challenge like this I'll make sure to actually keep on top of it and not wait till almost 8 seasons in to post an update. I'll try keep it tidy and somewhat like how you guys are posting.
I'll wait till the end of this current season before I attempt a post like Fuss has above this one![]()

Impressive going SpaceNugget
Thanks dude, I think I just got seriously lucky with some signings and especially my backroom staff who are class for what we were/are now. But the January Transfers are here and I think I'm in serious trouble now. 3 star players are leaving due to us being seriously broke and not able to reach their wage demands. Teams like Man U, Man City and Chelsea are after two of them too so I have no chance of competing for the signatures. But my best winger is actually getting out of here for FREE. Out of everyone I forgot to get his signature last summer.... raging.
In a panic I've signed up a bunch of really promising looking youths (thanks to my first team coaches 20/20 vision) in the hope that if I do get my team ripped apart I have some talent to try get back to where we are. They are even stealing my backroom staff now
Ohhh I just signed Theo Walcott as a coach![]()
Oh for the love of God, a new board has taken over and put £200k in to be repaid at £1.5k per month, which isn't too bad. However they've now renegotiated this deal so now it'll be cleared in a year but paying £10k a month.
Better late then never. Haha look a very interesting challenge and after one reload I've decided to be Lowestoft Town.
As a Norwich fan could end up becoming a rival for them (maybe looking too much in future)
Firstly I'm Callum, look forward to sharing my progress with you all and trading tips!!

Good luck Callum, it's a fun challenge.
Redditch United
Season 8 - 2019/2020 - npower Championship
Board expectations: Consolidate.
My expectations: Mid table, Maybe scrape a top half finish.
Final Posistion: 1st
FA Cup: Fourth round (lost to Manchester United 2-0 in replay after a goalless draw)
League Cup: Semi Final (lost to Manchester United on aggregate)
We are the champions my friends... bah bum baaaahhhh baaahhhhh. Unbelievable season, shot straight to 4th and then within a month 1st then never budged for the season. 102 points means we finshed 11 points clear of second place and with only 6 losses and 9 draws we pretty much dominated from the start. It was a shock to me as with a wage budget of 40k and practically no transfer budget I was hoping for a mid to high finish if we were lucky. With the new stadium costs throwing the club into debt I feared the worst to be honest and was regreting pushing for the stadium so early (just as I realised we were being promoted to championship). Now we are looking in great financial shape, clubs wanting to buy players I deem surplus for silly money and moving into the new stadium in 3 months time means instant cash from ticket sales. YAY
Highlight of the season
Going undefeated until late October in the league and knocking out Liverpool 3-2 in extra time in the league cup. That game was amazing, we should have lost and instead they scored 2 own goals and had a man sent off, 3 goals in extra time is always crazy. Definitely a highlight. Just after the Liverpool game two very tempting offers came in for Jessen and Valentini, both were rejected but when Man City, Chelsea and Spurs are sniffing around your club your doing something right. Oh and winning the Championship... that was fun
Lowpoint of the season
Just after the Liverpool game getting ManU in the semi final, AND ManU in the FA cup 4th round. This led top us playing a very strong Manchester side 4 times in one month (draw in the FA tie led to a replay). We drew or lost every league game between these fixtures and to add insult to injury I suffered all my seasons injurys in a silly short space of time. Just as fixtures started to ease off 3 star players get busted: Jessen's broken ankle, Cvinanovic's torn calf muscle and Rebane's twisted ligaments.
Transfers
Signed a lot of under 17 prospects who I hope can live up to their potential and evtually aid my current HomeGrown worrys. Just to pick out two rather than listing a whole bunch:
Matt Payne; Free transfer after Arsenal let him go, after Hoyer got injured he stepped in to cover and has instantly earned a new contract. Hes going to be very, very good.
Sinisalo; I have great hopes for Sinisalo as he is young and almost Identical to one of my senior Players (Hendry) but with better starting stats and high pottential. Should develop nicely with tutoring from Hendry (his hero apparantly) and training in conditions that will aid rather than work against him like the older players had.
For the first team, two players need a mention:
Jessen; "A revelation" since joining. Dubbed the next Soren Larsen, and with serious interest from the top 5 teams in the Prem. He is going nowhere. Free signingwent from cup matches substitute to First Team starter in under a season. Just turned 19.
Valentini; I had to sign him as he was just good not to at 100k. I have two fantastic MR/MCs so he was oversupply but big clubs keep knocking and I have just received an offer of 4 million from Everton. Honestly dont think I can turn that down. 3.9 million profit in under 6 months!! I just hope Rebane can shake this recurring ligament injury for good.
OUT
Mouhamadou Jung to Norwich for 475k.
Jung is really the only one out thats worth a mention. I had signed Jung last season on a free to cover during an injury crisis. Hes now worth approx 1.1million but I feel I made a tidy profit in a short space of time. Not to be confused with Andreas Jung who is the German youth who was signed late in the season.
Full transfers for 2019/20
The Key Men
Mathias Jessen - ST - Signed as a prospect and instantly made first team. Hero will hopefully stay a long time.
Mickael Gebre-Mariam - ML - Refused to enter talks for a new contract then signed for Dijon FCOwill leave in July. Was great last season. Was awesome this season with 17 assists and 7 motm. Now he is leaving for a Ligue 2 outfit while the rest of the squad get premiership football. Impatient ****
Andreas Abrahamsen - ST - Has been here since 2014. Norwegian international. Was transfer listed at the start of the lat two seasons, by the end of each one earned a new contract. Has helped us win the Blue Square Premier, League 1, and Championship titles. Starting to get suspicious that if I let him leave our luck will run out. Top goalscorer this season
Odd-Geir Birknes - DC - Also here for a while, also Norwegian int, has been solid as a rock all season and will also be getting an improved contract.
Rene Eilertsen - DR - yet another Norwegian int and yet another star for Redditch. Scandinavia and eastern europe has been kind to us. Will be leaving as hes peaked and I've been getting good offers. Stuart Jones has also been begging for his place.
Damjan Cvijanovic - CM/MR - always dependable Cvijanovic has been here since the rebuild upon hitting League 2 and has had another storming season. Starting to become a bit of a club legend.
Special mentions
Artur Rebane - CM/MR - Was out from the second game with a 4 month injury, returned to play excellently only to be injured again in march. I still hold him in high enough regard that I will be selling on Valentini and hoping Rebane can prove he isnt made of glass next season. His average ratings dont do him justice, watching him on the pitch is awesome. When hes fit he lifts the whole team to the next level.
Kieran Connaughton - GK - dubbed the next Shay Given I have high hopes for this guy. Has been solid in every game hes played. I've been rotating with Alex McCarthy (Reading keeper). Also played in goal in the only game against Manchester United that we didnt conceed, I realise this now lol. Will have homegrown status by July and will be first choice keeper as McCarthy will be leaving. Fingers corossed its not too early for him. Guess time will tell.
Andy Hewitt - AM/ST - Disapointing this season. Is our current captain and was our first choice striker due to excellent returns over the last few seasons. looks to be struggling at this level. Has now dropped to 4th choice behind Jessen, Abrahamsen and Hendry (who is also struggling). has been at the club since the league 2 rebuild and I still think he has more to give.
Next season's aims
Keep wages as low as possible.
Survive the Prem. Avoid relegation at all costs. Remain focused on survival and not silverware.
Improve training facilities massivley.
Avoid temptation to rebuild squad.
Give Ben Wright (found all 3 norwegians, Valentini, Rebane and Jessen) a pay rise for finding such great players for me to trial,
and Tosh Farrell gets a rise too for telling me which ones dont just look promising but are.

Question: how do you view this situation?I've tried reloading the game 100's of times to try to get Marine but to no avail. If I edit the database so they start in the BSN (and obviously leave every other setting alone) would I be accepted in the challenge? My wage budget is £2k per week.
Hi - I think that no editing is allowed.
Which clubs have the best facilities, in terms of training and youth development of the teams eligible for this challenge?
I'm pretty sure any of the clubs available have such bad facilities it honestly think it wont make too much differenceJust pick a team you like the look off and go for it. Challenge is heaps of fun and I cant think of a better game Ive played in FM or FML.
Just heading into my first Premiership match O_o scary stuff. Found a fantastic MC prospect for under 600k in Coric. Decided not to sell Valentini and instead just received this offer from Arsenal for Jessen. Signed for free last season..... 8 million bids this season. Seriously hope I can keep him here and fight off these vultures

Hi, all!
Always wanted to give this a proper go and now I am. I actually had started with Tooting and Mitcham but later on realized that I violated the rules by signing a few players without scouting them. This time I am managing Harrow. My profile
Right 6 months in with Lowestoft Town.
My expectation for the season was purely to avoid relegation with some young players with good potential. So here were my transfers A couple of decent players in there, the biggest signing being Michael Ball who I think was a bit of a coup, still not sure how I still managed to get him. There were some league teams interested in him, but anyway typically he suffered a long term injury. "/
Anyway here is the table so far. Personally surprised with how well we have done. As you will see by the fixtures (fixtures2) started quite inconsistently but found some form in last few months. So I strengthened as season has gone on and scouts have found more and more players. Hence why I brung in three player recently.
Cup wise FA cup done well getting to second round although had quite an easy draw mostly, FA trophy slightly disappointing!
The best signing so far has been Jay Mehmet & Mark Nwokeji both have got goals and been brilliant. Nwokeji is pretty tired after most games though which is one of his downfalls. Hope my defence improve and fork out more consistent performances best two defenders have been Sam Page and Semi Ajayi, unfortunately Ajayi picked up an injury as you can see but Page is getting better and better.
Will keep you posted, with the form we are on I think we can do well. Not getting carried away mind, avoiding relegation is priority!!
Thanks for reading will post again end of season!

Season 2012/13
Started by sorting out team and bringing in young players to hopefully improve as season went on. Here is a screenshot of my transfers throughout the season.
Good signings in there and improved team further as season went on, the marquee signing of the bunch was Michael Ball really who obviously is pretty well known nationally.
My expectations for the season was a mid table finish with players I had I thought possibly capable to push for play offs. It turned out a fantastic season in all honesty and unfortunately missed out on play offs on goal difference. So my final position was 6th!
Was a fantastic season to be honest and there were some massive wins. Overall the form in the season was patchy one month brilliant, the next not so good. Results 1, Results 2, Results 3.
As you can see by the fixtures didn't do too badly in FA Cup, but didn't do well in FA Trophy.
Finally the top 3 players for me were:
Scott Mitchell - Was brilliant on the right hand side for me, one of the players who I inherited in the squad. He played 40 games which included 8 goals and 23 assists. His average rating was the best in the team at 7.31 overall. Top stuff.
Jay Mehmet - The youngster who I signed in the summer was fantastic. He plays mainly up front but played a fair few games on left wing to cover injuries. He was joint top scorer with 21 goals and the reason he was better then Mark Nwokeji was because he covered injuries which helped us out. With his 21 goals he had 9 assists and an average rating of 7.27 throughout his 41 appearances.
Sam Page - The central defender who I signed before season was a rock, was quickly appointed captain and has been in the heart of defence most of the season.Altogether he played 37 games didn't rack up any goals did get 1 assist and an average rating of 7.07. He picked up four MOM's on the way.
To be fair weakest part of my team was defence, attack was brilliant and Nathan Fisher another one of my strikers who came in January managed to pick up 15 goals in 25 appearances. Hopefully if defence improve promotion can be a realistic target next season.
I feel as though I have missed something out.

Well what a turnaround from last year, sorted out the club finances, totally overhauled the squad thanks to my scouts finding lots of talent in Ireland.
Reached the 4th Qual round of the FA Cup and the 3rd round of the Trophy.
Oh - just won Manager of the Year.

Quick question:
Near post corner routine is allowed? That and switching to 4-4-2 seems to kind of turned my season around.
Nice going Yellow, vasatore can't answer that I'm afraid. Like you I found a fairly basic 4-4-2 worked well for me with only a little tweaking.
This is how it turned out for me so far.
By the way, i tried to sign almost all the three star rated players by my scouts. Some attributes of them were not visible due to my scouts being not so good, but I opted to trust their judgement. It turns out most of the players are crappy. I'll never make that mistake again. I have at leat 7-8 players I want to get rid of but I can't.![]()

I did that too - I found my scouts did well in Ireland.

Hednesford Town Football Club
Hednesford Town are pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Grinter as their new manager ahead of their return to the Football Conference after a six year absence. Founded in 1880, the Staffordshire club previously had a six season run in the Conference from 1995 to 2001 and won the FA Trophy in 2004 with a 3-2 win over Canvey Island. They returned to Conference in 2005/06 but were relegated from the North division after just one season. The club also reached the final of the Welsh Cup in 1992 but were defeated 1-0 by Cardiff City.

Season Review:
After an unsuccessful off-season run I opted to leave my fav formation of 4-3-2-1 and switched to flat 4-4-2. It gave us good results with proper adjustments depending on the oppositions. We did not fall into the trap of falling in love with a fixed tactic/formation and paid attention to the opposition. Who does not love to read this or this. We tried to bring any player that wants to play for us, who were not many. As the season went along and transfer terms shut down for higher leagues, we were able to talk to better players. We did not close the transfers until the end of season. All the success we had during the season, we could not figure how to keep a clean sheet. Many of the transfers were central defenders but they did not cut it.
We observed that we are not a cup team as we got ousted at the first round we played. We have to look into it.
Player of the season:
Tamer Tuna - SC - 33 goals all competitions (not like we competed deep in other than league). Attributes not impressive though.
Other Key Players
Aleksandars Sovoljovs - M/AMR - Attribute-wise best player but due to injuries had not played enough. 16 assists 9 goals
Richie Barroilhet - SC - Joined the team later in the season. 15 goals 9 assists.
Next Season Personal Expectations:
- Find a better defensive approach to keep clean sheets
- Earn a play off spot (kind of ambitious goal)

Board expectations: Avoid Relegation
My expectations: Avoid Relegation
Final Posistion: 14th
FA Cup: Fourth round (lost to Blackburn 2-1)
League Cup: Embarrassing early knockout. (2nd round 2-0 to Derby)
Phew, The Premiership was a severe wakeupcall but we have survived \o/ Plenty of horrible losing streaks had me very worried mid season that we were going down, but thanks to terrible showings from Newcastle and everton that just wasnt to happen. I had originally planned on not signing anyone except young players for the future to see how well my team held up but by Christmas it was obvious the current team wasnt going to cut it at this level. 8 games without a win (including a terrible 4-1 against Blackburn and 4-1 against west ham) was hard to take and my strikers seemed incapable of staying calm. Jessen was missing chance after chance and my other strikers were just getting skinned. Spending millions on kids in the preseason was starting to look like a very silly move.
By the time January came around I let Valentini leave as I was sick of his moaning and I opened the chequebook and snapped up a first team signing in Sean Irwin who had fallen out with the staff at United. Things picked up a little but the team never looked comfortable or playing like a unit. We did what was needed but it wasnt pretty. One plus was the saving of cash due to our very low wages and low expense overall. We have made a fortune over the last 3 seasons. We are ranked the 84th richest club in the world O_o
Heading into next season I plan to throw some of that cash around now that we have survied on a budget >
Highlight of the season
Beating Man Ciy 3-0 at home at the start of Febuary.
We had only won one game in the last TEN premiership games. Morale was an all time low, Man City had whipped us 3-0 at the start of the season too. I honestly expected a poor showing and another loss but the lads played amazingly. I though it would be a turning point in the season but we lost 5-0 against Man United that weekend. Oh well.
Lowpoint of the season
Coric Braking his leg.
Coric who i had planned on replacing Hillier as the season progressed snapped his leg at the end of november and missed the entire season. I had great hopes for this dude as his starting stats were through the roof for a 17 year old. His attributes have all taken a shock (some are down by 2) but I'm hopefull he can return and claim a place in the team.
Transfers
I'll just pick a few:
Coric; was a very late signing in the pre-season. I tried him out in the cup games and he made such an impact I was to replace Hillier over the season with him even if he was so young. Broke his leg on international duty (U21s) and missed the rest of the season.
Villaescusa; the clubs first big signing. I know 3.4million is a hell of a lot for an unproven youth but I had to spend the budget somewhere and his reports were just amazing. I could make profit now but I'm hoping to start playing him in cup fixtures this season.
Steve Southall; signed as a backup ML as I had just bought Hearn. Has actually proven to be a better fit in my system. Played well and will be staying.
For the first team:
Charlie Hearn ; Signed from united and brought in to replace Gebre-Mariam who is badly missed. Has been a bit of a disapointment but has made good progress attribute wise. Unsure what to do with him as he complains a lot.
Sean Irwin; I needed a goalscorer by January and I needed one quick. Irwin has only joined and has found it hard to blend in but i'm hoping next season is a good one for him.
OUT
Martin Valentini; whinged and moaned when I issued a hands off warning to Man city/Chelsea etc... then played a string of 6.0 games, was a serious annoyance and disapointment. Started to complain around January again so I shipped him out for 5.5 million. Still I bought him last season for 100k so PROFIT
Rene Eilertsen; Left for 1.5 million to newcastle and managed to have an awfull season. Was regretting selling for most of the season as Jones has been a bit crap and Villaescusa is too young.
Full transfers for 2020/21
The Key Men
Damjan Cvijanovic - MC/MR - (Captain) even when everyone else is struggling, Cvijanovic manages to have a good season yet again.
Odd-Geir Birknes - DC - again managed to have a good season even though our defence left a lot to be desired.
Sean Irwin - ST - only here since january but was crucial in us avoiding that dreaded relegation zone.
Artur Rebane - MR - managed to stay almost injury free for once. when fit he was awesome at setting up my strikers, but Jessen, Hendry,
Ambrahamsen and Hewitt were dissapointing this season constantly missing sitters.
Special mentions
Sinisalo - St - At only 17 I let him step up when injurys hit my on poor form anyway) strikers. Impressed me. Value has skyrocketed lately.
Jessen - St - Has had me pulling my hair out all season, he gets into space so well and constantly has chances but just refuses to score. I've been recieving bids of up to 8 million from teams which is infuriating when he isnt performing but I'm determined to stick with him for at least one more season. Should have had 15+ goals this season. Maddening.
Gustafsson - GK - I sent Kieran Connaughton out on loan when he moaned about lack of first team starts. I was rotating him and Gustafsson with the hope that Connaughton would gel with the team and become solid first choice. The opposite has happened, Gustafsson has proved himself capable and looks to be a star in the making. Value has also just jumped to 4million+ O_o
Next season's aims
Spend big and push for high mid table if possible.
Defence needs a serious boost (looking at a big signing or two) hopefully strikers can find some form as they have the ability.
Improve training facilities yet again.
Do better in League cup.

A slow start saw us winless and bottom after six games before a breakthrough 2-1 win against Boston United after spending most of the game with ten men started our rise towards midtable. After eleven games we were 12th and from that point we never moved higher than 10th or fell lower than 14th.
FA Cup
Fixtures
We started off with victories against lower league Bedworth United and Marine before requiring a replay to get past Rushall Olympic and into the First Round proper. Our opponent there was League One side Tranmere Rovers who we put in a credible performance against before eventually going down 4-2.
FA Trophy
Our FA Trophy campaign typified our main problem this season, an inability to put the ball in the back of the net when we were dominating. A 0-0 draw against Vauxhall Motors at home was followed by a 0-0 draw away, before going out 6-5 on penalties.

Players Transfers
Rob Gier English born Philippines international. Was the only player in the team to gain an average rating of at least seven.

Richard Walker the best of a bad bunch as far as our strikers went. The 35 year old topped our scoring charts with 9 goals in 38 games (7 in 31 in the league).

Overall a disappointing season, started on fire knocking in an average of 3 goals a game for the first 3 months but injuries to shaaban and steifler for several months in jan and feb killed this momentum as the backups weren't good enough along with loss of form for my strikers. By mar Chelsea and Man City were well clear but a good late run got me into 3rd place and the CL groups. In the CL i easily topped a group of Zurizh, Roma and Copenhagen with 16 points, in the 1st KO Rd the team had a disaster of a first leg losing 4-1 away to PSG, attacking from the off i was only able to win 1-0 in the return leg.
In the FA cup the team reached the semi's and led 2-0 after 25 mins against Arsenal but lost 3-2 in ET. The reserves lost to championship Huddersfield 0-1 at the first hurdle in the league cup.
The club was taken over which proved a good thing as they pumped in £30 million to the accounts which only had £17 million in at the time. They also approved improvements to training facilities which are now maxed out and youth facilities. They further allowed an increase in coaches and scouts.
Transfers
Squad
Defensively the side is very strong with even my 4th choice CB a leading prem player, GK's are equally strong.
The biggest hole in the side was the backup CM's although Steifler and Shaaban are world class, Brandt ended up playing in CM rather than his usual RM. The strikers went through boom and bust periods but there are a number of good youngsters waiting in the wings for a chance. Mendoza showed himself to be the best player in the team.
At the start of the season i was happy with the squad and so only some good free youngsters came in, the best Sagna is a wonderkid and was particually disappointing.
Leaving were some higher earning backup players, i had been wanting to offload Pavkovic (87 apps, 4 goals) for some time. Vuran (177 apps, 54 goals) was a good backup but i felt i could get better. Bretthauer (129 apps, 43 goals) never really developed from when he arrived and mostly played in the cup games. Samardzic (219 apps, 14 goals) was a first team player but i got fed up with his wanting to leave, general moaning and inconsistant performances, i spent 2 years trying to offload him without success, his value when i sold him for £1 million was £2.7 million.

I think its due to my first scouts all being from Scandinavia or at least speaking Norwegian or Danish. I sent them all out that direction early and since then my knowledge of those country's has always been top, and because they have been finding dudes that are making me money or joining the first team I have left them there. I've just checked and my original two scouts both played in the Norwegian Premier league before retiringcoincidence or maybe the regens see them as heros or something.
Lately there has been lots of Croatians and French kids. Spain has been terrible for me bar My dl who was spotted ages ago. The south American countries have also been a bit *****lots of out and out wingers though and little technical strikers but neither fit my system. I have set up a work permit feeder club last season though so off the top of my head I have: A Japanese Striker (looks awesome), A Ghanaian MC (bit of a gamble) and a Uruguayan MC (immense). So I wont be so Scandariffic soon
I'll have to start scouting in Germany after you mentioned it, I've pretty much overlooked Germany entirely O_o except for my backup striker who i think was playing on loan in France when he was spotted. I'm glad I found this thread/challenge as its been an awesome game and reading through everyone else's journey is really really interesting.

The title went to the wire, on the last match of the season I was in 2nd at home to the team in 1st. I went 1-0 and completely dominated the game 'till the 75th min when one of my central defenders tugged an opponents shirt, the penalty was their 1st shot so now it was 1-1, 5 minutes later my other central defender missed a ball in the area 1-2. Those 2 shots were there only ones on target to my five.
Fortunately I then breezed through the play-offs beating Borehan Wood in both legs, which was quite satisfying as I'd not managed to beat them in the regular season. The final was an anti-climax really as I brushed Dover aside in a comfortable 3-0 win.
My ground is being expanded so I won't be playing at home 'till Feb 2020.

Nice one Sando
I'm still faffing about in L2.
Just found this thread and decided to give the challenge a go
Heres my start page, im going with newly promoted Lowestoft Town in the Blue Sq North, and the board have given me the princely sum on £0 to buy players and £2k per month for wages, current wage bill is £15 per month.

Absolutely devastating!!
Positives: 200.000 £ in gaterevenues from the final (40.000 at wembley), My young inexperienced team getting to the final and only losing out on automatic primotion by four points, really good prospects for a succesful next season.
COME ON CHESTER!
Good luck Darkwin - it's quite a fun challenge
2019/20 Northwich Victoria L2 (1st season) Pos 8th
Rather frustrating season - I went into the final game needing to beat Coventry City who were just above me to get into the play-offs, absolutely battered them 13 shots on target to there 4, 4 CCC to their 2, ended up drawing the game 1-1.
Still some hopefull signs for next year, some cracking results battered Southend 8-1 and Oldham 7-2 and only lost twice in the Jan to May period.
Just to rub it in Southend have just gone up through the play-offs.
The board have just purchased the stadium.

Canvey Island FC - Season 2016/17 - npower Championship
League
Predicted 24th as standard, although mid-table was a more realistic aim at the start of the season. As with every year, we played the Free Transfer market, bringing in two good young forwards from France in Loic Bonin and Cedric Combe (both regens), whilst adding quality to the wings in Wayne Routledge and another Frenchman in Johan Pastorelli. It seemed to take a while to gel (admittedly the money-spinning friendlies against much better teams probably didn't help), but a run of 5 straight wins in September put us 3rd in the table. A worse run of just 2 wins in 11 followed, meaning we were sitting 9th just before Christmas, but we really moved up a gear in the New Year, and a run of 14 wins in our last 18 fixtures took us to a very unexpected title win!
Final position: 1st - Winners
League Table
Cups
We actually made in to the 4th Round of the FA Cup this year, but paid the price for not closing out the game against Birmingham - we lost the replay. Once again, didn't care about the League Cup.
FA Cup: 4th Rnd replay loss to Birmingham (1-3 away)
League Cup: 3rd Rnd loss to Bristol City - (1-3 away)
Players of the Season
Squad
This was a genuine team effort with no real standout player (perhaps N'Diaye in centre mid at a push), so I figure I'll just show them off
GK: Jan Brusko - A really solid performer who is developing really nicely. Made some excellent saves and kept a good number of clean sheets.
DR: Gerard Hoey - Has been with us since League Two and continues to improve. Solid as a rock.
DC: Eduardo - Never put a foot wrong since joining this summer. Centre back wasn't a position I was initially looking to improve, but the pair of them were rocks.
DC: Rafael Della Marca - If Eduardo's the brains of the defence, this man's the brawn. Scored a few crucial goals as well.
DL: Oscar Gregori - Again, another formidable player who just keeps things nice and simple.
MR: Wayne Routledge - Disappointing if I'm honest. Went missing in games too often for my liking and will be looking to ship him off this summer.
MC: Ismaila N'Diaye - Just awesome. Stunned he joined us, but scored some good goals as well as working hard off the ball. Our Yaya Touré
MC: Florent Cuvelier/Johan Dupont - Dupont was supposed to be a backup but Cuvelier seems quite injury prone. Both played well though when fit.
ML: Johan Pastorelli - Much better than Routledge, but could use more flair from him really. Probably need to tweak my tactics for him
ST: Loic Bonin - Should be much better than he is - just lacks composure. I think he'll come good though.
ST: Cédric Combe - An awesome Target Man at this level, but again could get more goals.
Notable mention: Giovanni Policano - Injured for quite a bit but still chipped in with a number of goals, whilst Bill Paul also did well playing a bit part role
Top goalscorer: Cédric Combe, 18 (17 in League)
Most assists: Giovanni Policano, 12 (12 in League)
2017/18 Season Thoughts:
As always, I'll be conservative and say I'd be happy just to stay up! It all depends on who we can sign as the squad was hardly the best in the Championship! The plan is to continue to buy young and then sell them on, whilst playing the free transfer market. Should be interesting, at any rate.

League
The board were expecting to bravely fight against relegation, and the media were predicting a 20th place finish. and was given no cash and a 2k wage budget to accomplish this.
I brought in 15 players to strengthen the squad in all areas and quickly went over the wage cap.
After a winless preseason the season opened with a surprise 4-0 win against Stalybridge, but this was nothing but a false dawn for the team as the next five games saw defeat for Lowestoft and slumping to 23rd , the team were not gelling at all and I was beginning to worry that my preseason signings were duds and chokers. Form picked up the team clicked it was December before the relative good form dropped, the team resided in 10th. January began and it appeared the club were still celebrating new year as they slumped to a run of 5 defeats, when things picked up again they team never fully got going again and form remained inconsistent with too many draws and the occasional defect keeping the club from mounting a challenge for the play off spots. Lowestoft ended the season in 9th place 11 points outside of the playoffs. Not bad for the lowest paid team in the league.
Cup Competitions
FA Cup - 4th Qual Round replay - Billericay 1-0 dominated the game but stubborn defending seen Billericay steal the victory with their only shot on target.
Fa Trophy - 3rd Round - Cheltenham 3-0 We were totally outclassed but our Blue Sq Premier opponents.
Squad
2013/14
Hoping to win the league, need to further strengthen the squad so will be releasing a few players to make way for some more free transfers as there is no chance of the club giving me any transfer money, I can only hope they give me more than 2k per month for the wage budget. I will also be replacing the assisstant manager as the fellow I have i just dont like. (Missing having Billy Dodds in the game my usual assistant)
Hey all I realise i'm a bit late to the party with this one but I was hoping for a bit of help. Basicly I live in Horsham and really want to manage them in this challenge but at a rating of 850 its gonna take me years of reloading. So does anyone have a horsham save knocking about? I would be so grateful!

Cheers pal, sitting 4th in December, ten points off Arsenal who are looking incredible. Outplaying a number of teams but quality is starting to show as the games we've lost/drawn are those in which we just haven't taken our chances. Great result for you in Milan btw, how good are your players or is it all just down to tactics?
Lowestoft Town FC - Season 2013/14 - Blue Square North
3rd - defeated in playoff final
Transfers
Expectations of the board and media were low and as such I was given 2.8k per month to get the squad safe from relegation. With nothing to spend ad lots of dead wood to drop 15 new free signings were made over the season and 23 were shown the door.
League
A great season for the team despite missing out narrowly on promotion. August to mid November the team got off to a magnificent start only loosing 2 games and seeing us clear at the top of the league. Our exit from the FA cup dented the teams confidence and the from suffered and the team began to drop points, AFC Telford soon overtook us and we never caught up to them again, i fact for awhile our inconstancy threatened to see the play offs slip away from us again a we dropped to 7th, but Mid March our form returned and we remained undefeated until the last league fame of the season, the run seen us rise to 3rd place the play offs beckoned.
Play-offs
Semi - Final v Tamworth (2-1 agg victory) - Both legs were tightly contested first match at Tamworth ended in a 1-1 draw, the return match also ended after 90 mins again 1-1 and into extra time we went, the break through fr us came in the 2nd min f added on time in the first half of extra time, Callum Reynolds of Tamworth put one into his own net under pressure. Superb rear guard action in the 2nd half of extra time was enough to see us though to the final to play Darrlington.
Final v Darlington (2-1 defeat) - So close but yet so far for my Lowestoft squad, Darlington took the lead in the 36th min, we equalized on the 42nd min and it was game on, the 2nd half seen Lowestoft gradually dominate as the match went on but i the 88th min we were caught with a classic sucker punch ad lost a goal on the counter attack, further heartbreak was to come when we had a goal chopped off in the 4th min of injury time for a foul on the keeper. So a 3rd Season in the Blue Square North for us
Star Performers
I could list the full team here but the best of the best will do.
Tommy Skelton - 20 assists and 7 MoM awards mad him invaluable to the squad. Also Voted Blue Sq north Player of the year.
Martin Reilly - consistent performer, always offers a constant threat to the opponents.
Sam Westly - Always present and an absolute rock, chipped in with a fair few goals too.
Squad
Cup Competitions
FA Cup - 1st Round - Accrington 3-1 defeat, not much to say simply outplayed.
Fa Trophy - 4th Round - Dartford 2-1 defeat, tight match won by a late goal.
2014/15
This team is good, I just need to get a bit more cash out the board for wages and I will be able to get in the 1 or 2 players needed to go from a good team to a great team, I cannot afford a 4th season in Blue Square North

Transfers
Less Activity transfer wise this year, the hoped boost to the wage budget never materialized again and was given £3.1k per week to get a top half finish. 5 players in to strengthen the full backs and attacking options, with 1 player coming in the January window to fill in at Defensive Mid, 3 out of Contract players left the cub.
League
Wow what a season, a titanic season long struggle that for a long part of it involved the top 6 teams fighting out for supremacy. Despite loosing the 1st game of the season we got off to a flyer loosing twice and drawing twice going into the winter months. Then November happened again riding high and top of the league the team faltered and struggled to pick up a win seeing us drop to 5th, but thankfully the form picked back up ad the chase was on, Stalybridge, Nuneaton and Barrow lay ahead of me with only 5 points separating us
with Corby and Solihull Moors 3 points behind me.
The club was bought over in this time by a local businessman but he was no more forth coming with extra wages as the last board were.
Stalybridge went into 2015 in the lad by 1 point but a poor run of form took them out the race and shortly after Corby and Solihull dropped off the pace too, leaving us, Nuneaton and Barrow trading blows at the top of the league with all 3 of us taking turns at the top. With 4 games to go we regained 1st but Nuneaton had a game in hand but thankfully for us they choked. However it was still not over, the final day of the season dawned and we needed a win to secure the title but a the season proved things were never going to be that simple and we lost, however as luck would have it Nuneaton drew and Barrow lost giving me a heart attack and the title in the process.
To celebrate our league win our new chairman has commissioned a new stadium so were going to have a bit of debt for a few years to pay off, I can only hope the new board are as generous with next seasons budget as they were with the stadium.
Star Performers
Martin Reilly - Another great season, caan always be relied upon up front.
Peter O'Brien - Teams star performer, how he never won Blue sq North player of the season I'll never know.
Sam Westly - Solid and dependable at the back rarely had a bad game for the team.
Calum Kitscha - Special mention for this fellow, great keeper and has improved a shed load over the past few seasons, unlikely I'm going to be able to hold on to him as hes wanting to tougher challenge.
Cup Competitions
FA Cup - 3rd Qualification Round.
Fa Trophy - 2nd Round.

I didn't really have as much of an overhaul as I thought I would, keeping the back 5 together, and only really strengthening the wings and attack. With hindsight, one of the issues was that I wasn't sure what formation I was going to play until I started the season. Finally settling on a 4-5-1, I had bought 2 too many strikers, and probably needed to strengthen defence a bit more. That being said, we started well as always, with 4 wins in our first 5 games even seeing us top the table for a brief period. We tended to win most of our games other than the away fixtures against the big four (0-2 vs Utd, 0-3 vs Arsenal, 0-2 vs Chelsea and 0-2 vs Man City) - although we did manage to beat Arsenal and Chelsea at home. This away form is clearly where my tactic needs changing, and I'm contemplating going for a counter-attacking approach to see what that brings. January saw us 12 points off Arsenal at the top, but fighting it out for 3rd with Man City, Chelsea, Fulham, Spurs and Liverpool. Whilst we had an excellent run-in, losing just two of the last 12, it wasn't quite good enough, as we finished 5th with City and Chelsea just edging us out. Still, the Europa League should be an excellent experience.
Final position: 5th - Qualified for Europa League (Winners = Man Utd)
League Table
Cups
Partly due to a lucky draw (Stockport, Reading, QPR, West Brom, West Ham), and partly due to a much better squad than in previous years; we actually reached the Final of the FA Cup this year, only to get demolished by a much superior Arsenal side. We also made the Quarters of the Carling Cup but lost on pens to Chelsea.
FA Cup: lost in the Final to Arsenal (0-3)
League Cup: Quarter final loss to Chelsea - (1-1 home - 2-3 on pens)
Players of the Season
Squad
Here's the team one year on... Again, I've been very ruthless with players who just haven't cut it at this level (the defence is probably next...)
GK: Jan Brusko - Continues to play well and I've just rejected a £5m bid from Fulham. Handling could still improve though.
DR: Gerard Hoey - This season has probably been a bridge too far. Not bad, but was shown up by the better wingers in the Prem.
DC: Eduardo - Fairly solid but his improvement is slowing. Might look to replace him soon.
DC: Rafael Della Marca - It seems every year I manage to grab a centre back in the Championship for free who goes on to become a really solid player. Della Marca is our man this year.
DL: Oscar Gregori - A solid defender but not much else, another who will need replacing soonish.
DMC: Olexandr Maxymov - joined for £1.8m in Jan and I have high hopes for him.
MC: Ismaila N'Diaye - Another solid season for the big man.
MC: Fabio Valdiviezo/Carlos Miguel - Valdiviezo was probably our signing of the season at just £1.8m, whilst Miguel was our marquee signing for £7.5m, but it's not been easy to fit him into the formation. Got better as the season progressed however.
AMR: Jonathan Quevedo - A big signing at £6m from Velez, and he certainly delivered. Always a threat and grabbed vital goals and assists.
AML: José Ángel Fernández García - Signed on a free from Barcelona and scored some stunning goals this season. Still a bit inconsistent, but when he's on form he's unplayable.
ST: Rotated between a couple of players this year, with Cédric Combe and Orlando Pelaez (£5m) performing pretty well. Geronimo Farias is my other big hope for the future as well
Top goalscorer: Cédric Combe, 14 (12 in League)
Most assists: Jonathan Quevedo, 14 (13 in League)
2018/19 Season Thoughts:
We'll continue to build for the future, but I am well aware that I need some tutors in to make the best of the team we've got. We've already beaten Arsenal to the signing of Andreas Rechsteiner for £3.5m, who looks a really top prospect. As previously mentioned, the defence needs a bit of an overhaul, and I'd like a really class DMC. Other than that, just need to make sure we win all the games we should and compete better against the big clubs.

Positions
After 2 barren years this season started off with quite a few new players and it took the squad a while to get going with 5 draws in the first 5 games. This meant i spent most of the season off the pace and the usual poor form over xmas and jan made sure i was out of the title race and struggling to qualify for europe.
I ended the season on form again with 37 points from 42 to snatch 4th place on the last day of the season.
My reserves won the league cup beating West Ham 4-1 in the final. In the FA cup i reached the semi-final and completely dominated Liverpool only to somehow draw 2-2 and then lose on penalties.
In the CL i had an easy group and comfortably qualified. In the 1st KO rd i faced Barcelona and drew 1-1 away before winning 2-1 at home. In the QT-final i again drew 1-1 away to Porto and won 3-0 at home. The semi-final was against Real Madrid and the team won 3-0 at home. In the 2nd leg Madrid scored 2 after dominating the match before a goal by Santamaria made it safe, it finished 3-1.
The final was against Inter and although the team went behind, they were always in command and won 2-1. Fixtures
Transfers 1 2
Squad
After last season i decided to freshen up the squad and spent money for the first time in 4 years, after the young midfielders disappointed last season i went out and spent a club record £12.25 million on Mauricio. This money was recouped by selling the underperforming Sagna (24 apps, 1 goal) for a record fee of £13.75 million. Melka was also brought in after being offered by Chelsea. The long serving Klinger (391 apps, 148 goals) was sold on after wanting to leave for several seasons, along with Chevelier (117 apps, 11 goals) who wasn't quite good enough and Robin (43 apps, 4 goals) who was 4th choice by xmas but became my record transfer fee of £14.25 million.
Mendoza was again the best player although Brandt did very well playing in an unfamiliar position of left midfield. 2 free transfers became wonderkids and forced there way into the team after xmas, Santamaria is rated the best potential player in the team possibly messi level since he is 4.5 stars and 3 stars is leading prem level. Manual also stepped up impressively.

I'd love to say that's the quickest it could possibly be done - but actually it could feasibly be done in one season less! If you were to win the FA cup as a championship team, you could then play in the champions league during your first top-flight season! Unlikely, but mathematically possible. Until then, I think I've topped the table though!

Awesome work bowie - good to see you finally getting there after those endless seasons in BSS
won't post it now so as not to spoil my end of season update (for anyone that actually cares), but I've just had the single most heroic performance from my team on any incarnation of CM/FM. Unbelievable Jeff!
Canvey Island FC - Season 2018/19 - Barclays Premiership
League
Made yet more additions to the squad, notably a very good keeper, a centre-mid and a couple of young centre-backs. Consequently we started slowly, with the Europa League as well causing havoc given that there are barely any players who have come through the youth team. We picked up our form in November and gradually began to claw back the gap between us and the top 6. By this point Man Utd (who would go on to lose just 2 matches - 1 to us) were running away with the league, already 10 points clear of Arsenal. After Christmas we went on a great run that saw us overhaul Liverpool, then Chelsea to go 4th. Going into the final two games of the season, we needed just one point to secure a Champions League place - the only issue was that we were away to Chelsea then home to champions United. Somehow, a smash and grab performance saw us come from 3-0 down to draw at Chelsea, before our reserves beat United 3-1.
Final position: 4th - Qualified for Champions League (Winners = Man Utd)
League Table
Domestic Cups
Some kind draws (include an 8-1 demolition of Wolves) saw us reach the semis of the FA Cup with relative ease, only to lose to Man United as a result of an unfortunate own goal. In the Carling Cup, we had an equally nice run to the semis, before putting out Fulham and comfortably beating Sunderland in the Final
FA Cup: lost in the Semi-Final to Man United (0-1)
League Cup: Winners beating Sunderland - (4-1)
Europe
Whilst our draws at home were nothing short of wonderful, FM fate evened it up, putting little Canvey Island in the group of death with Valencia, Napoli and Standard Liege (Valencia have one of the best attacks in the game at the moment). Our first two games, away to Napoli then Valencia, saw us somehow come away with narrow wins having taken our chances and held out well. We continued to win every other game in the group other than an inexplicable 0-0 draw with Standard Liege. Then things really got interesting...
In the first knockout round we were paired with Young Boys who were nothing compared even to Liege, and went down as easily as expected. Dinamo Moscow followed, but two early away goals meant that we could pick them off on the counter with minimal fuss. Saint Etienne pushed us closer in the Quarter Final, but we came away with yet another deserved victory, meaning that we were to face Roma in the semis. At this point, our Europa League squad consisted of just 16 players (having had to name 8 youth players). In the game against Saint Etienne, centre back Lamine Koné got injured for 3 months. In the week before the Roma game, our playmaker Carlos Miguel joined him (4 months), as did our centre back Keita (3 months) and right back Hoey (5 weeks).
First leg: We went 1-0 up thanks to a nice strike from Pelaez before their right winger twice cut through our youth team left back to put them 2-1 up. In the last 5 minutes I sent on a second striker who set one up before scoring with the last kick of the game to give us a priceless 3-2 advantage.
Second leg: The most unbelievable game I have ever played on FM. Another man went down to injury before the game, leaving us fielding just 10 first team players (2 of which were horribly out of position), and a youth team player. 3 minutes in and Della Marca had to be subbed off. We somehow took the lead from a header off a free-kick from captain N'Diaye... 4 minutes before the interval, our left winger then hobbled back to the changing rooms, before N'Diaye also took an injury in the second half, leaving us with just ten on the field, three of whom were utterly hopeless. And then we scored a second through an excellent counter. They pulled one back, but we progressed to the final with the most injury-hit of injury-hit squads.
Roma 1-2 Canvey Island
Final: Schalke were our opponents, surely it would be an easier ride? The team was a wreck, the only surviving starters being our keeper Porchia, striker Pelaez, midfielder Reis and wingers Quevedo and Martinez. We went ahead after 10 minutes through a header from centre back Dario Piras, only to be pegged back by an unfortunate own goal from Porchia. A minute after the interval, Pelaez was sent off for an elbow, but try though they might, Schalke simply couldn't score and the game went to penalties. Piras had a chance to clinch it with the fifth penalty, but did a John Terry and bottled it. Finally, holding mid Maxymov slotted his penalty home to complete an incredible tournament win for Canvey.

Players of the Season
Squad
A few standout players this year. Massimiliano Porchia played superbly in goal, living up to his £11m transfer fee, whilst Quevedo produced assist after assist from the right wing. Carlos Miguel had an excellent season up until his injury, whilst Orlando Pelaez was clinical up front.
Top goalscorer: Orlando Pelaez, 44 (27 in League)
Most assists: Jonathan Quevedo, 44 (24 in League)
2018/19 Season Thoughts:
The core of the team is quite good now so there probably won't be wholesale changes. We could use a really good DM - I have my eyes on someone but they'll be expensive, and City are also sniffing around Pelaez. Could still use two top full backs as well, but otherwise the squad is looking good.
