Why you had to start again Drew?
ouch. does that mean its going to keep crashing on that date for us too?
Well Dons has made it into 2021, so I doubt it.
Coming into February, I'm top of the League, might need to start planning for League 1

Transfers In: Much more reserved in the transfer market this year, with only six players coming in; two of them in January. Aided by a similarly-priced deal that saw Sam Minihan leave for Crawley, a young, Welsh AMC, Sam McGee was brought in for £70k, making him my first signing with a fee. I had to ask the board for help signing him to achieve the season's aims, and to my shock horror, they accepted! Gerardo Bruna, and Marc Pelosi, Argentine and American wingers respectively, were brought in to bolster the attack and both did well, and young Irish DR/C Jonathon Murphy provided competition in defense. English midfielder Ellis Martin and German keeper Bernd Buchmann completed the signings.
Best Buy: Sam McGee - the kid is unbelievably good, only just turned 18 but was in the first team all season. Football League potential no doubt.
Worst Buy: All six played their part so none of them can contend for this.
Transfers Out: 6 players moved out, Sam Minihan's £55k deal to Crawley the best of the bunch.
Best Sale: Minihan was never going anywhere with this club, so the transfer fee was nice.
Round-Up: We started like a train, and won 9 out of our first 10 games. Eastleigh and Forest Green were keeping up with us all this way, until around the 25th round of matches, when the former dropped off and the latter dropped us. A mid-season slump may have been down to our cup headache, or maybe it was just that part of the season. We started closing the gap to Forest Green again with about fifteen games to go, and with just five left, overtook them. We matched each other game for game until the end of the season, and there we were - champions.
Our fantastic run in the FA Cup saw us not only win our first in the competition under my stewardship, but our first 6 matches, as rivals Brackley, Oxford City, Boston United, Woking, Bury and Worcester were beaten. West Ham, npower Championship title contenders proved a step too far, but a 1-0 loss was far from embarrassing. We dropped out of the FA Trophy early again, but I hardly cared given the success of the side in the main competitions.
I'm now in the club's favoured personnel list (along with Wake and Mannion), and the board have announced that our 6500-stadium will be turned from a 250-seater into an all-seater. Should be able to attract more fans over the next season or two then!

Worksop Town | Season 2018/19 | Blue Square North
Table | Positions Graph | Squad | Finances | Transfers
This was the season of "1-0 up, 2-1 down" or even, once or twice, "3-0 up, 4-3 down". Ive never seen so many defeats and draws from winning positions. If it was "first goal wins", I would have been very close to the playoffs. By my reckoning, we took the lead in at least ten of the games we didnt win this season. The problem was the defence, which really does need sorting out. Will spend the summer tweaking my tactics majorly. The cup runs were nothing special this year, another major problem, going out to Barrow and Frickley in the FA Cup and FA Trophy respectively. The league was, frankly, a total disaster and the less said about that the better.
Not being able to sell Doyle was also a big problem, both for current finances and because, with his wage demands now above the board's limit, I cant possibly keep him now. He is destined to move on this summer for free. Real shame, that. But the best offer I got for him was 90k and I felt that his goals for one last season were worth that money. In hindsight, I was wrong. However, I was handed a reprieve. Right at the end of the season, days (in FM) before I posted this report, he signed another contract. Will cost me £88k for the extra year, but hopefully this year his goals will make it worth the outlay.
Mark Pelosi* - Back on the upwards curve, but cant persuade him to accept even the highest contract I can offer him, will probably leave.
Mattias Fanimo - Same story, really...
Conor Doyle - perhaps knowing he was leaving, he really declined this year. Still too good for this level, but his training was poor and his form deserted him.
Krisztian Adorjan - another backwards step here, too. But I will have to build a new team around him.
Amin Affane - again, going to have to be a core component of my new team.
Michael Kamau - made many more interceptions than anyone else despite playing only about 3/4 of matches.
Craig Edwards - developing promisingly.
(*= fans' player of the year)
The team of the year
The historical best XI - showing Doyle passing 100 goals for the club this year.
Who knows what will happen next season? Am trying a new tactic which I'm hoping will cause an upturn in our fortunes. Will also need to make a few really quality signings in the summer which wont be easy to do. £55k to help running cost was a very nice end-of-season gift from my chairman, but it won't change everything overnight...we're still almost £100k in the red.
Targets for 2018/19
Sell Doyle for at least £250k. FAILURE
Sign a striker who will score at least 20 goals. FAILURE
Sign a top goalkeeper. FAILURE
Sign several really quality defenders. FAILURE
Try to stay in the black. FAILURE
So not a great season in all....
Targets for 2019/20
Sign a top goalkeeper.
Sign a top quality defender.
Turn a profit, preferably by another cup run.
Get at least 60 points.
In other news, City won the double in England, and Barcelona beat Bayern in the Champions' League final.

PS Could I add my usual plea to the end of my post - anyone who gets a moment, if you could check the table on the first page whenever you can it would make my life easier. Just check the numbers at the bottom beneath the table add up, really, and let me know if I've missed any posts!
First season has come to a close and the heartbreak of a play-off semi-final defeat will take a while to get over after being in with a shout from a good end of season run of form.
The season was going so well until it came to around the new year, which resulted in a dry spell of just two wins in 14 games. Luckily the team were able to pick themselves up and achieve a play-off spot. Only for it to all go wrong (I've seen it all before, being a Forest fan!)
Player transfer wise, I struggled with the concept of the fog of war, which I've never used before...hence the hoards of signings I made just to try and get the odd quality deal done. Record signing was made on a toblerone footed striker from MET police...I'm pretty sure I was robbed by the constabulary!
Anyways, the dream of top european football goes on....

#84 – Hastings United – Blue Square Bet South – 2013/14 - 1st
Although spending most of the season on top of the league, I was rarely able to stretch the lead beyond 5 or 6 points meaning things were never comfortable. In the end six wins on the trot towards the end of the season saw top spot taken.
Drawing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup 3rd round pulled in £750k meaning my finances are in much better shape (I was around £250k in the red).
I was unable to make any significant signings due to being over my wage budget but go into the new season with only 2.5k of a 8k per week wage budget used. Hopefully when demands of players on free transfers start to drop later in the year I will be able to bring in some good players.
1000-1 against Worksop gaining promotion in 2020!!!
2 wins out of the first 3 games for FC United, hopefully with our ground sharing with Bury we might be able to bring in some revenue.

Seriously, have scouted like 400 players. Anyone who is worth of a single star (and i've checked, none of the 0.5*s are any better than that) is willing to discuss terms. Whats the point of this stupid game?!
first season in league 2 and we're looking good so far !
....although they still ask for 5-10 times what i can offer them!
One player just asked for £170k! I can only go up to £12K!!!
Incidentally, that's per year, not per week or month!
Because the player doesn't want to join otherwise. Look at the report, "such and such has no intentions of joining us at the moment" yet you can enter negotiations with him. Exploit, plain and simple.
Hey it's up to people how they play the game, and like I said, "not for me", it would take the challenge away. Def a bug, so by using it, you're exploiting the game.
Guess it accounts for SOME (not all) of the metoric rises being seen here.
Henry - its not an exploit, as they still ask for absurd wages. Prem players will want WAY more than you can afford. If you ask me, the fact that none will negotiate in the first place is a bug in itself......
Exactly. It's not an exploit, it's correcting a bug. I dont know about Prem players, but most of these players wouldnt come to Worksop - but that's because we are not able to offer anything like enough wages. Some of the players who wouldnt even discuss terms with me otherwise are not even good enough for the level below the BSN/S, it was just ridiculous that they wouldnt talk money with me. This is a bug workaround, not an exploitation of the game.
No - I've had a player recommended to me with League One potential - he wasnt yet good enough even for my crappy first team - but he wanted almost £100k a year - way more than I can afford.
No GreyedOutMan, it's not correcting a bug, it's exploiting a bug. Hey if you want to be cheap, go for it, up to you how you play the game.
#86 - Gilbster - BSP - 2015/16 End of Season Update
Well for a team that should never have been promoted, we proved it this season. Due to promotion wage increases I had no budget to offer the money that the players I wanted, what they wanted,so I could barely strengthen the squad. As a result a team that barely should have been up, was playing with the bigger boys, and in fairness we had some good runs of form. Jsar your tactical hints have helped quite a bit and it did go down to the penultimate game of the season.
However the result was inevitable, we have been relegated straight back down, and all the good players including Eric Keane werent wanting to sign new contracts, or were wanting far too much money and as a result, most of them will be leaving at the end of this season. This is gonna leave me with a club that needs to be rebuilt and ideally needs to bounce straight back up.
Try and remove promotion clauses from all contracts as they are really annoying
Pray I hold onto my job
Try and get straight back into playoffs at the very least.
Replace all my players that leave with cheaper copies of them!

seriously before I found out about this I couldnt get ANYONE to sign for me. Not even a guy who had been playing for the Met Police ffs!
It was a bug, this is a workaround. It doesnt help me at all because it doesnt get me anyone on the cheap, they still ask for absurd wages at times, and as for the Agbonlahor thing - well Gazza played for someone like Matlock or something at the end of his career...
They wont sign for you because your rep is too low.
I would suggest that those that consider it a but to raise it in the bug forum and get an official statment from SI, one thing to consider is that your scouts are not always right about the willlingness of a player to sign for you, so does this happen on every single oppotunity like this?
Well I dont know but if I dont use this, i literally cant sign anyone with a single attribute over 10. Basically not a single player who would be considered good enough for the BSN/S, even for a reserve team, would come to me. THAT is a bug. Especially as I've been in the BSN playoffs once.
jsar, ManU just released a real quality starlet on my game. Everyone is after him, from the lower half of the prem right the way down, and some foriegn teams. He's rejecting them all, but I can get him on £270 a week at BSP team weymouth? That sound right to you? Honestly?
After a period of time away from the game, I came back to it and made a couple of tactical adjustments, a team meeting and finally we managed to secure our first win in 15 matches in the league. Surprisingly, those 15 matches hadnt put us into the relegation zone but we were balancing on the edge. That win is a helping hand hopefully to better things and what better time to get the win than on Boxing Day.
Just posting this for GreyedOutMan who are having problems accessing the forum:
If someone speaks to SI and they confirm that this would make it very unfair in any way, I will stop doing it. But I havent seen this so far. I tried to sign James Milner - 33 year old - through this. And he did offer me terms. But as those terms were £3.3m a year, along with a £1.4m loyalty bonus, I dont really see this as an exploit. Its totally realistic - yes, Milner wouldnt waste his time asking BSN Worksop for that kind of money but if they had it, then at 33 he might well join.
Remember Sol Campbell joining Notts County?
MikaelS you can wrap it up anyway you want that makes you feel better about it! x
I just think if we think it is a bug report it to SI, and get an official answer.
As i said before personally i wasnt aware of it and so havent used it and have no intention of doing so but if it is currently in the game and isnt against the "rules" then technically as far as the challamge goes any one using it has not done anything wrong
Ah I see, sorry. The comment applies to GoM then.
I think more it is a matter of going around a bug instead of using it. We have all been using that button at some point, even to high profile players. As GoM states, he cannot sign any player what so ever, but when using that button, he at least have the ability to offer some kind of contract.
Not "all" mate. Far from it.
If you are telling me that when you get a scout report, you don't even look at the stats? You just offer a contract without looking? BS.
You'd look at his stats, then offer a contract from that page, as it's quicker (probably why this bug hasn't been picked upo til now).
Anyway, i'm done. Be cheap if you like or don't, I don't care.
Back on now. Yeah - its as Mikael says. Before, I literally couldnt sign anyone. Not even a player who had been released by Met Police. Don't start telling me my rep is lower than Met Police!
If you ask me, it might even be a feature - if you have scouted him, the game assumes you have made contact and therefore you are more likely to be able to sign him. Whilst it's true that someone like Milner wouldnt usually bother spending time telling Worksop that he wants over 4m a year, it is, as I have stated, reasonable to assume that if they had that sort of money he would sign for them. As I mentioned, remember Sol Campbell.
I would agree that some confirmation from SI on this issue would be good, but the way I see it, all this does is correct a huge bug. James Milner, for example, who is the only high-rep player I could find available on a free....he's in talks with West Ham, but didnt mind giving me some figures. Sure, he could be all mine for £4m a year. I'd argue that a team that can afford that has, by default, a high enough rep to buy an ageing semi-star like Milner at 33. Again, cite Notts County for that.....
This seems totally realistic to me.....
Whatever dude. Like I said I don't care, but I won't be looking at your updates anymore, as I think you're a cheap exploiter. Fair do's.
Just like to point out this doesnt work for all players regardles of club, just for research i looked at Roque Santa Cruz who is a free agent on my game regardles of how i tried to offer him a contract he was not interested understandably, and the same with Daniel sturidge, it did however let me offer Frazier Campbell a contract but even if i was happy to use this "bug", "Exploit", "work around" or what ever we are calling it i would have to pay him 2900 of my 5000 budget which obviously i dont have the cash for.
Would you rather I went through the rest of my game not able to sign a single player worth his salt in the BSN? Is it realistic that a player who was playing in level 8 or 9 or whatever wouldnt join me after I had just lost in the BSN playoffs?
I think we'll find from SI that this was a bug, anyway. But if it wasnt, then it is a flaw in the game.
The way I see it, it's actually a feature. As I mentioned - it means that we cant sign anyone half-decent without scouting them, which is an extension of the rules for this challenge and I dont see what the problem is. There is simply no way I could sign a premiership star in the BSN, and that's as it should be.
has someone asked SI about this?
I've posted a bug report.
hj, you will see when I post my season reports that the players I'm getting are no better than anyone else has managed. The new goalkeeper I've signed is decent, but he's on nearly 10k a year, my 4th highest earner, and yet he's probably not going to be good enough for the BSP if I ever get there.
I won't be looking anymore. So don't worry about it.
I don't care lol....
I played this last year with Evesham and took 12 years to get promoted to the Football League, at which point I stopped playing because you have to, you know, buy your players from other teams! Madness!
Anyway I thought I'd give it a go this season and I've just got my game set up so fingers crossed that a decent team gets promoted.
Can I ask, I've added this and this to correct some of the team names and get the full names of clubs to show in the tables, are these allowed? The intention is an aesthetic change not to fiddle with any stats but I don't want to get into a game and then find out it's a problem. Thanks
My thoughts exactly MikaelS, which is why I wasnt going to respond to him!
We will see what SI says won't we MikaelS. In the meantime you better run along and dl the real time editor to make sure you get to the prem before they fix it. Time is running out....tick tock tick tock
If they say it's a bug, and that its right that no-one who has played in any of the top 9 levels of the english pyramid will sign for Worksop for some reason, then I will stop using it. I will also stop playing Football Manager.
I've never been able to sign a player who was recommended to me in a backroom meeting, not a single player my scouts rated at more than 2* has EVER wanted to sign for me. I'm guessing that the one or two decent players I have signed were the one or two who I happened to click on the correct button for without realising the difference. It was a coincidence, in other words. Clearly that is a bug - otherwise whats the point of scouting, right?
And to add to Mikael, I would be too. If they claim that it's not a bug, I will be sending them my game and asking them to explain why I havent been able to sign anyone who has played at level 8 or above for 3 years, then, when everyone else seems to be able to sign premiership rejects on a regular basis......
Those that are signing prem rejects on a reg basis, I would suggest, have been exploiting.
Possibly - although as no-one has brought it up, I'd suggest they've been "exploiting" unwittingly, but I cant even sign League Two rejects! Which is why it's not an exploit it is a workaround/neat little feature if deliberate, which I'm more and more convinced it might be. If so, could I suggest in advance that Dafuge's rule about scouting first might have been the reason they put the feature in?
Hahaha it's not deliberate. I'm willing to bet my house on that. Like I said, I could sign a super starlet who was released by ManU for £240 quid a week (he was 16), yet he was rejecting the likes of Wolves, New Castle and Deprotivo La Coruna.
If you want to use it fine. But when you do eventually get to the prem, don't blame me if you're not as happy about it, as you would have expected.
This "starlet" you could sign. I bet you anything he's a petulant idiot who no premiership club would touch with a bargepole. If this is the case, so much the better. It's the sort of thing that might well happen to Carlos Tevez shortly - I mean, can you really see Arsene Wenger or Harry Redknapp buying him, or any premiership manager with even half a brain?
And I'll bet you that 90% of the players playing FM, have at some point used that button. It's there. It easy access.
If you were playing as Man Utd and wanted to sign Messi. Would you look at his stats before offering a contract? No I didn't think so.
Also, if you're going to post in the bugs forum, give the information accurately, rather than trying to make yourself look good by giving half-baked information.
Can we just leave this whole discussion and get back onto important things like playing the game and offering constructive advice, or at least wait to see what SI said about it?
MikaelS - the more I think about it, the more I think I must have used it to sign the few decent players I have in my squad. The fact that most of my squad is total junk is testament to the fact that I normally check the player's attributes first and offer from the profile screen. Looks like that button is bugged to me.
We're talking about non league here. Talk of Messi and Man U is irrelevant, as both are world wide reputations.
It's very clear in my game. No-one who's even nearly good enough for the BSN will speak to me if i offer through the attributes screen. Simple as.
100% of the time, he will enter into negotiations. Now I'm calling you a liar MikaelS.
