Not much time to post a detailed update but have managed to reach the group stages of the Champions League with SJK in Finland.
In 2019 and have made them the dominant force in Finnish football but have a long way to go until I manage to complete the challenge.
His personality is balanced, and he is on one side happy to stay, but on the other side a little bit concerned that the club is a bit small for him.
He wants to move to a bigger club, but is happy to wait and see if Tollnes can improve their reputation. I think if we do well in Europe, then I can hang on to him.
UUC - Northern Ireland - 2024/25 End of Season Update
Table
UUC win yet another domestic quardruple for 3rd season in a row
Well I hope its not too soon to say that we have cracked Northern Ireland, and that Europe is now the reason for the challenge. We actually went undefeated in all domestic competitions, and just 4 pesky draws in the league, broke what could have been a complete clean sweep of wins.
However Europe was still tricky. We took out Lokomotiv Astrana, Roesnborg and Steau Bucharest to make it to the group stage. We only got 3 points again and finished bottom of the group, but it was a draw against each team in the group, so there is almost some promise there. The group was Marseille, Man Utd and CSKA Moscow. We really need to work out how to get 3rd place at least in a group to continue with European footy of some sort in March.
Unfortunatley I'm a bit nervous about next season, as quite a lot of the current top first teamers are leaving on bosmans, and although once we had the title sewn up, I started dropping the players leaving in favour of the next string of players, I'm not as convinced at the moment that we are gonna dominate to the same extent next season.

Hey! I'll be starting in Denmark this weekend (bit busy for a couple of days), as my favourite team is eligible for the challenge this year (and won't be next year, as we're cruising through the current division).
Anyway, I just holidayed the first season, and thought I'd let you know that the reset-date for Denmark has been changed to the 29th of June (meaning that one should save on the 28th if they intend to reload).
Thanks Indsæt and best of luck in Denmark, look forward to hear how you get on.![]()
Who's stupid idea was it to arrange my fixtures this season?! It's become normal for us to get kinda far in the Champions League now, so why organize our games so they fall the day before a ****ing Champions League game! On the 18th, I have Ballymena in the league, and Porto the day after. Good thing I have a decently sized squad, but it'll be risky.
Good luck, Indsæt navn. Great name by the way
Swinburn and Gilbster. You are doing very well. Looks like you are getting closer to completing the challenge.![]()
Cheers Taunton - however we are stuck rock bottom of our group yet again. Odds are my next update will just be the table and then a move on, as the season is going identically. My CL group was Besiktas, Arsenal and Real Madrid. I need to work out how to squeeze a 3rd place in a group to play in Euro cup and increase coefficient that way I think!
Lucked our way through the Champions League semi finals with an aggregate score of 1-1, winning by away goals. Valencia in the final... we could do this.

For some reason, my transfer history is showing up as my boardroom confidence and my finances as my transfers. Stupid photobucket.
But, nevertheless, the important stuff is there! We did it! We got stupidly lucky but we did it!
A huge congrats to Swinburn for completing it in Northern Ireland. At least i know its doable, just probably not by me!
UUC End of Season
Table
Everything that went right the past few seasons went wrong, and I cant find the quality of players to replace all the ones that no longer want to be at the club. League Runners up with a goal difference of over 100 and 100 points, and its still not enough. Linfield really are a big thorn in my side. Worst bit is we dont get Champions League footy, so its gonna take even longer to make any sort of breakthrough.
Really hope this isnt the beginning of the end and our downfall. We will be moving into our new stadium next season though.
We did beat Linfield in the Al Ireland Cup final though.
Champions league we got to the group stage and then had Besiktas, Arsenal and Real Madrid. Managed a win at home against Besiktas and thats it. Turns out you need at least 4 points to get Euro Cup footy from a Champions League group.

Transfer report
A home-grown focus on the transfers this year, with 8 of the incomers being 17 or 18 at the time of purchase. Dick Adam was brought in as he was already HG nation qualified, and made a vital, and unexpected, contribution. A sign of just how bad my goalkeeping position was is Ruben Sanchez, who came in at 18 and was ever-present this season. As for the outgoing, I posted about Rotundo earlier, and the others were just fringe players who weren't going to make first team regular status. Francisco Fernandez is the player I had trouble signing (see bugs Forum), but now that I've got him, he will be Mazari's long-term replacement.
Ruben Sanchez
Francisco Fernandez
Season report
The league wasn't quite as easy as it appears, both Standard and Genk had outstanding seasons, and we were never really able to pull away until the playoff stage.
The Belgian cup was kind to us, a lot of fringe players got useful action, and an eventful final saw our 10 men beat Anderlecht's 9 for our first cup win since 2015.
Still seeded 4th in the Champions League, I was happy with our draw, and fancied second. Taking a point off PSG, who drew twice with Shakhtar, left us entering the last game only needing Chelsea to keep their 100% record while we beat Shakhtar to get it. Sadly it wasn't to be, and two goals in 5 minutes from Kevin Gameiro gave PSG the win and us third place. As a side note, Torres scored against us in his only European appearance of the season. He's 35 and has 138 Spanish caps. Europa League again...
And then it got silly. Injuries to both my good left wingers meant we were handicapped from the start, European refs hating us (in 8 European games we picked up 4 reds, in 30 domestic games we had 1) didn't help either, but a variety of patchwork teams kept pulling out extraordinary results. 5-1 up at halftime against PSV, 5 goals from Mazari at home to Villa, 4 from Fernandez at home to Spurs, 3 goals in the first 15 minutes away to Schalke. In the final, think back to Liverpool beating Alaves in 2001. Revenge over Benfica was sweet, and we took home the trophy.
Europa League Final
Squad report
To me, this feels slightly too large, but I've really needed them all this year. Every player bar the number 2 goalkeeper has had at least 10 starts, which tells it's own story. Dick Adam's unexpected contribution was the 20 games he played on the wing, as both Cissoko and Kabashi tore calf muscles at the start of 2019. Looking ahead, Mazari only has two years left on his contract, and even though he likes me and Sprimont, I'm not sure I'll be able to get a new one out of him. Morfou is grumbling as well, but hopefully a Europa League win will help convince him to stay.
Ghiles Mazari
Short term plan from last season
"Get past the group stage". Fail. "Domestic double". Success. Overall I think the Europa League makes this a win though.
Short term plan for next season
It's all about the Champions League from here on in. I've more or less got Belgium sewn up, so just one part of the challenge to go.
Other news
After three failed attempts, the chairman finally sold Sprimont, to a local businessman. His last act was to approve a stadium expansion, to just over 10,000. The new chairman didn't wipe out our debt from the new stadium, but he did agree to upgrade the training facilities. I like him already.
Winning the Europa League means I'm now the most successful manager in Belgian History.
Belgium in the world
Once again, it's just me, as Standard and Brugge both failed in the Europa League. Ukraine are defending a lot of points next season though, so we might pass them next year.

Season 2018-19 Update
I'd call this season a season of progress. No trophies to boast this time around, but our impressive finish in the league is good enough for now.
|| Table | Graph | Cup run | Europe ||
We defied all the odds in the league, and improved on our previous First League attempt. 3rd place gives us more Europa League football next season, but two extra rounds to get through. It was all about the goals again this year, and 72 league goals from 36 games is pretty good going.
We were once again quite active in the transfer market throughout the season, bringing in 7 players in 2018. I continued my trend of signing relatively young players on free transfers, 5 of whom were Slovenian. At the start of the season, the board announced we would now be allowed to scout within the whole of Europe, something that I've wanted for a while now. Some key transfers were:
Goran Filipovic - This striker came into the team at the beginning of August and has been impressive throughout the season.
Hakob Darbinyan - My defence is still the weakest area of the team, but I think I've got two very good prospects here, the other being this next fella....
András Szabó - Both of these centre halves came in late on in 2018, and they've slowly been introduced to the first team. I'm hoping for good progress next year.
|| Transfers | Squad ||
Player of the season: Aljaz Leskovar - It's been a while since a defender got this one, so here we are. Aljaz sadly suffered a terrible injury midway through the season, ruling him out for about 9 months. He returns soon, hopefully without too much damage to his ability.
Top goalscorer: Gregor Sculac - He's been trying for a number of seasons to get this award, and now that Cavnik and Zinic have left, this year was his chance. And he delivered, 24 goals in total.
Player to note: Stevan Bajic - This midfielder has slowly progressed since I signed him four years ago. He's yet to really hit it off at Krka, but I hope that next season will be his in which to shine.
|| Finances | Boardroom | Confidence ||
Next season: With still only one Champions league spot, despite Slovenia's impressive showing in Europe and the coefficients this season, I'd like to try for the group stages of the Europa League, and once again qualify through league position.
Code:|| Season | League | Position | Europe | Cup | Achievement | Top Scorer || ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- || 18/19 | Slovenian First League | 3rd/10 | EL 3rd Q | Runners-up | - | Gregor Sculac (24) || || 17/18 | Slovenian Second League | 2nd/10 | EL 3rd Q | Winners | Promoted, Cup win | Goran Zinic (24) || || 16/17 | Slovenian Second League | 4th/10 | - | Winners | Cup | Goran Zinic (21) || || 15/16 | Slovenian First League | 10th/10 | - | 2nd Round | Relegated | Miran Cavnik (11) || || 14/15 | Slovenian Second League | 1st/10 | - | 1st Round | Promoted as Champions | Tim Ceh (15) || || 13/14 | Slovenian Second League | 8th/10 | - | Quarter Final | Highest Scorers | Mitja Barboric (13) || || 12/13 | Slovenian Second League | 8th/10 | - | - | Survival | Mitja Barboric (7) ||
This was unexpected, to say the least.

Adeccoligaen Final Positon.
Gundo - Sola Fotball - Season Review 2019
Adeccoligaen football turned out to be fairly straightforward in the end and a swift return to Norway's top flight was secured comfortably. Having said that it was a decent battle with Moss for the top spot, which we finally won with an injury time winner in our last game over Bryne. If we hadn't of got that late late winner, second spot would have had to do. So with media expecting us to finish forth, it was a decent achievement to take first place.
This was a season that had seen us turn professional before we kicked off the new campaign. It was a huge thing for Sola and all the benefits that go with it.
The Norwegian Cup also went better then we expected and after remarkable giant-killings against Viking and Brann in the quarters and semi's respectively. That lead to a Final appearance against Vålerenga who were effectively at home at Norway's version of Wembley - the 25,572 Ullevål Stadion, Oslo. Vålerenga beat us 1-3 in the end and the only regret I have about the final is changing my approach to a more cautious style, I wish I'd have just gone for it from the start. Devastated not seeing Fossan run out because injury.
The Cupen Final
The Run
The Players
Godwin Bossman - Played the Rooney role brilliantly and got an incredible number of assists.
Sindre Fossan - His best season to date, he was cruelly denied a cupen final appearance after devastatingly breaking his leg 3 weeks prior.
Daniel Storvik - Daniel will be sold soon to cash in, he is severally injury prone and is already making noises about leaving.
Nicolai Larsen - Maybe more his level in truth and rather unsurprisingly finished top scorer with 18 league goals - breaking a club record previously held by Jonas Olsen.
Looking forward to Tippeligaen football again and in a nice shiny new Sola Stadium too!

Good to see plenty more progress going on
I'm about midway through my next season, but I've been distracted by other games so I have no idea when I'll get around to finishing it.
Congrats Swinburn on completing the challenge. Really a great achievement.
Gundo, well done clinching promotion and getting to the cup final. Good luck in Tippeligaen.
A short update on Tollnes: In our first shot at champions leage, the 3. round qualifier, we beat Sporting Lisbon 7-2 on aggregate, smashing them 5-1 away.
The reward? A tie against AC Milan for the right to play in the group stage. Tollnes against Milan!?! They probably don't know where Norway is. But we are going to give them a go.

UUC - 2027/28 End of Season Update
Table
Another domestic quadruple for UUC, but the biggest breakthrough was Europe.
We made it to the Champions League group stage, and were drawn into a group including Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Benefica. By some miracle we beat Benefica home and away to get 3rd place in the group and into the Euro cup knockout stages.
First knockout round vs PSV we won 3-3 on away goals.
Second knockoud round vs Malaga, was 3-1 at home and 2-2 away to go through somehow to the quarter finals for first time ever.
Quarter final against Bordeaux -
UUC 0-2 Bordeaux Leg 1
Bordeaux 3-2 UUC Leg 2 - Bordeaux score the winner in the 92nd minute to put us out, however very impressed that we made it that far, and I really hope it helps our coefficient for the next few seasons.

And the sensation is a fact. Tollnes has just overcome Milan 3-1 on aggregate to seal our place in the CL group stage. Delighted!!
Another great season Gilb, well done.
Taunton, what a result against Milan, truly awesome stuff. Did Milan still have any players we might recognise?![]()
It's 2023 so it is not many left. It was Pato, Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Sissoko and Miralem Pjanic that i know of.
Drawn against Real Madrid, Benfica and Galatasaray in the group stage, so the Ibsens home town of Skien is getting back on the map again when these teams comes to visit.
On friday afternoon I wrote that I was gonna start this challenge "next week", but I actually did end up playing a little bit throughout the weekend, whenever I found the time to do so. So far I've managed to finish the first half of season one (there's a long winterbreak in Denmark), and I guess I may as well write a tiny bit about it to go with the introduction.
Like I mentioned in my previous post, my favourite team happens to be available for the challenge this year, and so I have taken over the managerial seat at BK Frem. I could write an essay about the club and it's history, but I'll stick to the more recent events. Skip to the next headline if you're not interested.
The Recent History of Boldklubben Frem
Frem has traditionally been one of the bigger clubs in Denmark, playing in the top tier for many years, and even representing the country on the international stage on a few occassions. As late as 1992, the red/blue-striped club finished third in the Danish Superliga. Unfortunately, economical problems appeared, and after a struggle which brought about demotion in the very last game of the 92/93-season, the club went bankrupt (arguably due to the demotion, although the board had pretty much driven the club toward this tragic conclusion). As far as I know, a lot of fans were greatly annoyed that Carlsberg, whose headquarters lie (or did - they moved a year or two ago) little more than a kilometer from the stadium, did not wish to sponsor the club which supposedly went bankrupt over roughly £50k, whereas the very same company was able to pay Liverpool millions annually. I don't quite know the details of this though, as it happened before my time (I was born in '91).
After the bankruptcy, the proud workers club started climbing the ladders of Danish football, and some of my earliest memories are of driving around the country with my dad to watch the games in the Second Division back then. While in the First Division in the early 00's, some of the finest Danish talents were part of the team. Among them were Jesper Håkansson (who ended up at Heerenveen, and was seen as a huge prospect before his injury-nightmare begun - the way I remember him, he was one of the biggest talents I've ever seen when he was breaking into the first team squad aged 16-17, but of course I may be subconsciously exaggerating his abilities because I was a child at the time), Martin E. Jensen (who was expected to make it into the national team as a central defender - also ended up injured for years. He actually still plays for the club in the real world) and Mikkel Thygesen, who ended up spending a couple of years playing in Germany before returning to FC Midtjylland in Denmark, and later Brøndby.
By 03/04, Frem were back in the Superliga, and with a number of excellent players, many of the clubs fans expected to stay up. However, the worst possible scenario played out; Martin E.'s injury-hell began, Thygesen was out for a big part of the season, the topscorer from the previous 2-3 seasons, Mirko Selak, was injured most of the season, and as far as I remember, the same thing happened to a couple of other key players. This resulted in a final spot of 11 out of 12, which meant demotion.
The season after the disappointment, Frem missed promotion by one spot, finishing 3rd in the First Division, and afterwards, several years were spent fumbling around in the sub-top of the First Division, before the board suddenly announced that the club was close to bankruptcy once again. Apparently, the club needed about £100k to save itself, and so the fans were asked to help. Many did what they could in terms of economical support, with numbers around £100 being pretty common (now, this is actually quite a lot for a club whose fanbase consists of a LOT of lower working class people, alcoholics etc.). In the end, a local politician donated all of his retirement savings in "exchange" for a new board, which was very much necessary, with many of the previous board being members of the one that were to blame for the first bankruptcy almost 15 years earlier.
With a lot of donations, and a new board, the club appeared to be safe from the financial trouble, and although only being allowed to field amateur players, things seemed to brighten up. Yes, the amateur players did end up getting the club demoted, but there was a lot of potential in the squad, and the team was expected to get back into the First Division the next season. However, right before the last game of the season (meaning after it was certain that Frem were demoted, just to clear any confusion), a previously unknown debt of £100k+, caused by the old board meant that the club went bankrupt "for real", and thus was sent into the regional series.
In the 10/11-season, the team managed an unbeaten season in the Copenhagen Series, earning promotion into the Danish Series, which the club is currently leading (and got promoted from in FM)
The Autumn of 2012 (FM)
After taking over Frem in FM, it became pretty obvious that the team was not looking too good in the game, and of the few real players, three had left on free transfers before I became manager. To the transfer-market I headed. Luckily, many of the clubs in the Danish Second Division operate on an amateur-level, meaning that a lot of player-"stealing" happens, and with Frem having become a semi-professional club in the game, I was able to actually bind players to the club. Well, let's put it this way: Before the end of August, I had signed 14 players. In October, three players who did not have any interest in joining the club initially, suddenly decided that they'd rather be semi-pros in the Second Division than run around without a club, and so I signed up another three players, including U19 international Lasse Vigen. I expect a lot from him.
All the new signings seemed to need a few games to gel, playing a few poor games before going on a win-streak of 5 to seize the top spot. Then dropping it the next game, losing to an Avarta-team against whom we were huge favourites. Turns out telling the team that I expected a win was a bad idea. Anyway, this was the second-last game before the break. The actual last game was to be played away against FC Roskilde who were sitting top of the table, and with a brace from Morten Seifert, we managed to pick up a 4-1 victory at Roskilde Idrætspark, placing us 1st ahead of the break.
The key players have been the captain and true "Mr. Frem", Tim Ilsø (DRL), young defender Daniel Jørgensen (whenever not injured), veteran defender Mohammed Niambele, young Ghanese U20-international Jeff Mensa (whose brother was one of the three I signed in October) and veteran striker Morten Seifert.
I apologize for the extremely long post, I just don't know where to stop!![]()
Good luck with Frem. I have been to their ground, and I observed that referees in the area smokes pipes after matches.![]()
Thank you very much - also for the earlier message, which I forgot to respond to.
That is the way it works around Valby Idrætspark. Not so much of that professionalism! Haha.
Gundo: Thanks a lot. I forgot to thank both you and Taunton before entering my state of sentimentalist writing last night!![]()
Lets hope that it is only the referees that prefer smoking, not the players.
When that is said, I remember a certain danish hero called Preben Elkjær that both chainsmoked and enjoyed his fair share of the beforementioned Carlsberg products. And he still fired Verona to the Serie A title.
So with the danish players, everything is possible.![]()
Nationality count Jan. 2020
48 Norwegians
4 Swedes
3 Danish
This is including my youth team.
Godwin Bossman has Ghanaian listed as his second Nationality and has also just earned his first full cap for Denmark, a game which the Danes won 2-1 away from home against Serbia.
Actually, one of my aims is to sign a player who has an African nation listed as his second nationality, to use as my anchor man/defensive midfielder. Someone in the Anthony Annan mould, the former Rosenborg man who was a tough tackling, energetic midfielder.
For any newbies to this thread, I have imposed a Nordic player only rule on myself for some crazy reason!![]()

Gundo, thats amazing. I am really embarrassed that I haven't enough norwegians in my team. Can't seem to find good norwegians so I rely more on foreigners.
Really impressed!![]()
Sorry for double post, but, after winning 2-0 at the San Siro I didn't think it was possible to do better than that.
Then this happened in the Champions League group stage:
Miracle in Madrid
Usually been a Dafuge challenge player but after a seriously successful save in 07 I have never managed to come anywhere near where I did with Tiverton Town. Now for a change and this is one I've always followed but never tried. Waiting for my season to holiday in Ireland, anyone got tips for an inexperienced Gundo manager like myself? I plan on updating on here as I think it makes me more involved in my save
Now manager of Kildrum Tigers in Republic of Ireland. By far worst team I have managed so far in FM. Looking forward to it, had a few games but really struggling so far. Need more wages so sitting defensively for this season at least
Good luck with the Tigers, matty!
maisonjaune, I have been playing a small to big club game in Slovenia in FM11, so have enjoyed reading about your progress. Krka have done OK in my game and have been close to promotion to the First League a couple of times.
I was going to ask you if Ljubljana have come up in your game, or if they are even still in the database. They are available in FM11 and I have enjoyed the game with them a lot, but I know IRL they folded. Would be awesome if they were still available though, would like to have a go with them when I the last patch comes out and I buy the game.
UUC - An update!
2028/29 Table | 2029/30 Table | 2030/31 Table
Until this season there hasnt been much to report. We have been consistently winning the title and possibly at least 1 trophy while struggling to make a breakthrough in Europe.
This season, again seeded 4th for the group stages we get Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Benfica. By the means of some results giong my way, and a day 6 miracle win against Chelsea, we actually finished 2nd in the group. This led to us being in the Champions League last 16 for the first time. We were drawn against Valencia.
First Leg: UUC 2-0 Valencia - was thiking wow, if we can just score 1 goal away from home we may be ok
Second Leg: Valencia 3-0 UUC - was a valiant attempt, just wish we had got that 1 goal I had really wanted.
UUC now has top training facilties, but I cant do anything for youth facilties or recruitment, and our stadium is up to a 4613 all seater, which is going up nicely.

Druids can claim to originate from the oldest existing team located in Wales, thus making it also the oldest football club in the world outside of England. This is reflected in club's nickname, 'The Ancients'. However, Oswestry Town does predate Druids but is geographically in England, though the team has always participated in the Welsh system and were founding members of the Welsh FA, and would thus consider themselves a Welsh side
Decided to go for the Druids as basically only down the road from me.
I believe it is Taunton (although pronounced Cumry for some bizarre reason).
I'm curious as to how to pronounce Cefn. In my head it is "Keff-In", but I'd love Welsh Wizard to correct me.
Nice to see some familiar names from when I have attemted this other years. Not sure if I am going to be i Wales or Northern Ireland yet.
Edit: Looks like N.I for as Wales only has 1 division.

CHAMPIONS!!!
Taunton - Tollnes - Season review - 2023 - Norwegian Premier division
What a season!!
I am still trembling from excitement. It was a two horse race between us and Rosenborg. And we soon found out that we couldn't afford to slip up at any moment. So every game was crucial. Thankfully we were the best against the rest and clinched the title on the last day.
We have finally achieved the first target, that is to win the domestic title. And I can just say that it tastes so sweet and feel so well earned when we have waited so long for it.
The squad is built carefully, and it is still young, with an average age of only 22. So we did win it with the kids this time.
It is also well balanced, so it is a lot to build upon in the coming years.
So happy right now, and I can't wait to tell you about our Champions League adventure.
By the way, I won manager of the year again.
CL-update:
The thing about playing in Norway is that the season is not the same as the European season. That means that the domestic season is finished in december, and if you are still in a European cup, it will continue into your next season.
After finishing second last season, we got the hardest possible way into Champions League. The draw pitted us with Sporting Lisbon. I thought that this meant a harsh end to our European dream, I couldn't been more wrong. We smashed Sporting 5-1 away, and haven't looked back after that.
A 7-2 aggregate against Sporting resulted in a tie against AC Milan for the rights to play in the CL group stage. And our sensational away form continued, we won 2-0 in Milan, and drew 1-1 at home. Tollnes was in CL, and we could say that we earned it, beacuse the opposition we had to face to get there wasn't the easiest.
But it doesn't stop there. We were naturally seeded fourth, and came up against Real Madrid, Benfica and Galatasaray. Not unknown names to European football to be frank.
So after a solid home win against Galatasary, we experienced our biggest upsets ever.
First this: Miracle in Madrid.
And then: Lisbon robbery.
That laid the foundation for us to sensationally win the group.
We were drawn against Bayern Munich, but these games is in our next season, so I haven't played the games yet. But I must say that after doing that well against so many great teams, I am optimistic that we can cause more upsets.
Best player: It is often so that the top scorer gets th best ratings, but my best player this year is my target man, George Romanuic, He has been absolutely vital for us, and is a terrific player.
Top scorer: Tomasz Frankowski, still delivering the goods, and to get an impression of how good he is. Check out this great finish.
Economy: Very good.It pays off having success in Europe and winning the league.
Key: This season (Last season)
Wage budget: Nkr 630.000 p/w (475.000 Nkr p/w)
Transfer budget: 9 mill. Nkr p/w (17 mill. Nkr p/w)
(For pounds, just divide the number with ten)
Av. attendance: 4776 (4260)
Players in: 8 (9)
Players out: 8 ( 4 )
Our aim for next year is to defend the title, and to see how far we can go in the Champions League. But in 2023, we achieved the first goal in this challenge, the domestic title.
(EL = Europa league.) (CL=Champions League) *=still in the competition.

Well done Taunton on wining the league and good luck in the CL next season.
I have chosen my team it is going to be Killyleagh I managed them in this challenge in 08 or 09 maybe of this challenge. It should be a lot easier now with dynamic league reputation. I will put the starting screenshots up tomorrow.
Good luck with Killyleagh Oxslow, think you had them the version that I was with Downpatrick. And although it should be easier with DLR, I am still struggling!

Transfer report
Kids, kids, kids. I feel like Arsene Wenger, such is my desire to get players in while they are young enough to become home-grown. £7 Million is ridiculous for a 17 year old, but Ousmane Traore looked great, and has made a decent start. France is a bit of a goldmine suddenly, fingers crossed they develop as I need them to. Most of the departures were just squad bloat, bar Pasca, who I could have definitely used this season.
Ousmane Traore
Season report
As it was mostly dull and easy, I'll talk about the Belgian Cup first. It was mostly dull and easy.
League next and yeah, pretty much the same story there, Standard were fairly heroic, chasing us as hard as they could, but it was never really in doubt. The last game of the season will hopefully teach Standard not to bother next year.
On to Europe, and still seeded 3rd. Real were always going to be trouble, and a front four of Ozil, C. Ronaldo, F. Coentrao and E. Cavani (combined age 129) did the job against us at home (combined age 229). The 4-4 away draw to Schalke (for whom Nicklas Bendtner scored twice) was the key, giving us the belief we could take them at home, and so it proved, helping to send us through in second with a game to spare. Lyon was a decent draw, until we blew it in the first 20 minutes of the first leg. I sent the boys out in the second leg already thinking about next season, and we shredded them, their two goals coming in the last 5 minutes to set up an annoyingly tense finish. Chelsea were up next, and an even first leg gave us a chance. Stamford Bridge is not a happy hunting ground however, and a second 5-1 defeat in successive seasons there sent us home.
We did pick a treble of sorts though, as Porto were dispatched in the Euro Super Cup. Scant consolation.
Squad report
Not actually as large as it looks, I've promoted a few U21 teamers who got some first team action to represent it better. Most notably Guillot and Avisoa, who look set to be challenging Cissoko and Munoz for the wing positions soon. The eagle eyed will spot two stand out numbers. The first is Ndjock's 5.88 average, coming mostly on the back of his epically bad 2.7 rating in the league defeat to Brugge, his mistakes allowing 3 of their goals. The other is, of course, Ghiles Mazari, for whom words are starting to fail me. Just enormous this season, albeit a dismal failure in Europe (2 goals in 10 games). In Belgium he is unstoppable, hitting a hat trick on NINE seperate occasions. He's not our only goal threat though, as Westerlo found out to their cost in the video below.

Short term plan from last season
"All about the Champions League". Indeed it is, getting past the group stages means we are good enough to make it our year sometime. I hope it's soon.
Short term plan for next season
Maybe a semi, maybe a final? If Mazari learns to score in Europe, who knows?
Other news
We seem to have hit our limit as far as stadium expansion goes, at a mere 10770 seats, so I guess we have to wait to get another new stadium. It will of course be the Mazari Arena, I've got no chance of getting it named after me. Facility improvement continues apace though, both senior and youth facilities have planned improvements due to start this summer.
Awards season gave out a place to Ghiles Mazari in the World Team of the Year. I'm so proud.
Also, there are some cretinous journalists out there, so I told one off in no uncertain terms.

Annoyingly, despite our fine work, and Standard getting past the Europa League group stages for the first time in 5 years, three Turkish teams managed it, and Shakhtar of Ukraine reached the Champions League final. Holland are underperforming though, so a 4 way fight for 8th-11th is developing.

Great season winning the league by quite a margin and the main problem of being in Wales it looks like the domestic teams have a big gap from us already mainly down to the talent you can get just off the free transfers hopefully we can drag a few teams with us to make things interesting and great for Wales but my past experience is likely domestic dominance has just began.
In the Welsh Cup we were stopped by Wrexham(My home town) who went on to win it. Which hopefully we can bridge the gap to win as they will be the main competition.
Loosemores League Cup was quite straight forward and won the final with some ease

Loads of players in as better players become interested as the season goes on. Finances in the red but should improve with euro football and hopefully we get good draws and go as far as we can.
Key Players
Steffen Franz - Creative force getting great balls in the box setting up chances and goals.
Nathaniel Jarvis - Seems to be involved in moves and just seems to get in the right positions. Expect a more productive season next season.

It's not really anything to do with me, but I'm proud anyway.
Ghiles Mazari scores both Belgium goals in a 2-2 win after penalties in the 2020 European Championships Final
After several poor matches in the spring-season, I've just played the decisive last game against league leaders FC Roskilde, who were 3 points ahead of me, but a goal difference that was 6 goals worse. Between the two of us, was Skjold, who were a single point ahead of my BK Frem team, and thus 2 behind Roskilde.
In the first minute of the match, defender Mohammed Niambele put us in front, but just six minutes later, FC Roskilde equalized. The Ghanese youth international, Jeff Mensah, was having the game of his life, however, and he put us in front one minute after the Roskilde-goal. Four minutes passed, and FC Roskilde's star striker, Jeppe Kjær, had equalized for the guests. The ridiculously goal-filled opening to the match was not completely over before my top scorer Morten Seifert put us ahead for the third time within the first 17 minutes of the season's final game. As incredible as it sounds, the goal-scoring froze at that point, and so we were 3-2 up at half time. I was feeling almost anxious when going through the teamtalk-screen - one bad decision, and the entire season could end up in nothing. There was also Skjold's match playing out at the same time, but I honestly didn't think about it at that point in time. Not until 15 minutes into the second half did I even remember that I needed for them to not win their match, and after a quick look, I saw that their match with Herlev was level at 1-1. I closed the screen showing the other games, as to not jinx anything. I get a little superstitious under such exciting circumstances! Anyway, just a few in-game minutes after checking out the other match, Jeff Mensah practically ended the game, as he netted for the second time in the match, to put us in a two-goal lead. I decided against looking at the scores in the other match, and instead concentrate on not messing up anything in my own match. Not long after, I could tell the players that they'd done a good job, and finally see that.. Herlev had kept the scores at 1-1 against Skjold, and I'd been promoted!
Season update to come soon - just felt the need to write about this right when it happened.![]()
Congrats on finally winning the Tippeligaen Taunton and overcoming Rosenborg. Nice progress in the Champions League also and it's great to see Tomasz Frankowski still banging them in.![]()

A few of my better players were attracting interest and making noise about leaving, so I capitalised early and looked to bring in replacements. I don't feel I did anything to particularly improve the team, and that showed with the league performance. I did make a profit on the season, though, so I'm hoping the board will allow me a slightly larger wage budget for next year.

Another season with a distinct lack of cutting edge. I didn't want to sell Spehar, but the offer I received was far too good to turn down. Wuttke looked like he would be a capable replacement, but ultimately had a very disappointing season and I will be letting him go over the summer. I also feel I'm pretty weak at right-back at the moment and that is the other area I'll be looking to strengthen over the summer.

I think my challenge to win the Tippeligaen title in the fututre will be very tough indeed, the reason?
In my save in 2015, SK Brann had an Indian Tycoon takeover and since then they have spent a staggering 68.5 million in new players! That is not including the large number of loan fees they've paid out aswel in securing targets.
Epic challenge competing with that!
Anyone else had anything similar on the domestic front?

Wow, that is insane for Norwegian football!! What has the impact in Europe been? I suppose if they did well regularly it would help the rest of the league by increasing the reputation of the league.
It is crazy, it will be kind of interesting to see how it plays out though.
In the Champions League, furthest they've got is the group stages, last season (2019). This season they have just qaulified again for the group stages.
Shame that you did not get the tycoon Gundo. I had something a bit different but there was a tycoon take over of a side 1 division below playable paying more for players than clubs 3 divisions above them. This was a few versions ago of FM though.
That's quite an event Gundo, and gives me an idea for a new challenge later. "We don't need no stinkin' Tycoon", play a single division challenge where all clubs have a tycoon and you don't. Definitely add Brann news to your posts, sounds exciting.
Tippeligaen Final Positon
Gundo - Sola Fotball - Season Review 2020
Kind of an unspectacular season to be honest, as a mid-table position was secured. We were never in danger of relegation and never threatened to enter the Euro Qualifying places. The Cupen was a nightmare and we got dissapointingly dumped out by Adeccoligaen outfit Tønsberg 2-3 in the second round. This was also a season that seen me turn down the Swedish national team job and the Fredrikstad post. Two signings that people might recognise; former Brann striker Cato Hansen and the former Viking youngster Landu-Landu, who did a stirling job in the holding role.
The Players
Godwin Bossman - One of the top performers again and his attributes have progressed well since we went full time.
Sindre Fossan - Below par season in the top flight again for Sindre and he is mainly used from the bench nowadays.
Daniel Storvik - I rejected a 800k bid from Rosenborg for him, as I was holding out for 1 million.
Nicolai Larsen - Was as back-up this term to the first choice Lempinen and had an average campaign when called upon.
Gabriel Strøm - The pick of the team, dominates most opposition players in the air.
Antti Lempinen - Young man up top, topscorer.
Nationality count Jan. 2021
33 Norwegians
4 Swedes
2 Danish
2 Finnish
Average attendance: 4,848 highest to date and a record of 8,090 was reached in the derby game against Viking.
Next season: Maybe get abit closer to the top clubs and a nice run in the Cupen would be nice.

Unstopable! Is the word I'll use. Their only defeat came in an away game against the mighty Sola(I think we fluked it tbh) and only just missed out on the century of goals scored in the league, currently unbeaten in 21 in the league aswel. They also won the cupen and thus securing the double and at this point in time they are going be hard to progress past in the coming seasons.
Multi-national sqaud - Board - CL Qualification
And the man that's in charge of of this? Henning Berg - Luckiest man in Norway.

Wow. 81 points!! That will be some team to stop, Brann. Let's hope Henning Berg do as in real life and get sacked
Good return to Tippeligaen, btw.
Cheers Taunton.
Sad times as 'The Bossman' departs for Vålerenga in a club record 2.6 million deal, after the chairman intervened and accepted their offer.Big shoes to fill, but at least he didn't go to Brann.

That is indeed scary Gundo, lucky old Henning Berg, he's having to put up with the Man Utd job in my game. Have Brann overtaken Rosenberg for reputation yet?
SV SCHWECHAT - 6th season 2017/18
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
After we lost in CL semifinal, sold Mitja Lotric for 10m€ to Villareal, we started new season with great expectations to finished unbeaten in Austrian bundesliga and finaly to play in CL final. And we completed both. In domestic laegue we drawn 3 times and finished with GD +101 and 40 points more than 2nd. In CL finished first in group stage with AC Milan, Dortmund and Barcelona than kicked ass PSV and on away goal against Olympique de Marseille. In semifinal got Barcelona (beat 6-1 Liverpool at home in quarterfinal) again...won at home 3-2 and than won away 6-2!!!
Now i have only 2 games to play austrian cup final and CL final against Real Madrid (lost in season 14/15 both games in group stage)...I hope that i will finish this great challenge tomorrow, when i'll get back to home from work and to retaliate Real Madrid...or not
And we won!!! Match was played in Stockholm Swedbank Arena, 50.000 spectators, hat-trick hero Jerzy Glinski scored in 16th, 41th and 90+2nd minutes while Gonzalo Higuain scored in 75th. With possesion 52% and 17 shots (9 on target) wiht team avr rat 7.43 and team average age of 20 years.
I didn't post any screenshots so far, last screens was my team profiles at begining in my 1st post, but i can make it to prove...
Thanks again Gundo and all of you for this great challange...

Manager Info
Starting the journey in Northern Ireland with Lower Maze who were promoted for the 2012/13 season. The board's expectations are merely to avoid relegation, but that looks like it could be quite a tough challenge in its own right. The club plays at a small stadium known as Bog Road, with a capacity of 1000.

Transfer report
Pretty quiet really, partly because of my large squad (of which more later), and partly as it's just getting hard to find players who will improve what I already have. Aymeric Reymond has done a decent job at fullback this year, and depending on the upcoming window's activities, may find himself as a regular first teamer next season.
Aymeric Reymond
Season report
Just like last year, as it was mostly dull and easy, I'll talk about the Belgian Cup first. It was mostly dull and easy.
Onto the league, and an unbeaten campaign. The hardest match was probably the first one, as for some reason I played my third choice keeper. Balancing my own over-confidence in the squad's abilities with the level of opposition was the hardest task here.
The Champions League was just a pain, it wasn't a bad draw, but Vienna losing all six of their games meant we needed more from our games against the top two seeds. The other teams who scored 9 points in their groups (Real Madrid and Porto) both qualified.
The Europa League felt like a step back after getting past the Champions League group stage last season, but we really put on a show. The only game we didn't win on our way to the final was the return leg after beating AC Milan at the San Siro. My first 11 is definitely good enough to compete with anyone in Europe.
Well, NEARLY anyone. I felt pretty bad after two 5-1 defeats at Stamford Bridge the last two years, but the Europa League final was just horrible. 3-0 down after twenty minutes and it never got any better. Blech. On the plus side, the players took my post match abuse pretty well.
Europa League Final
Yes I warned or fined 10 of the 12 players who took part in the match, why not? They let the club down.
Squad report
It's too big. I know that, you know that, and finally the players have realised as well. With a great sense of sadness, I will be looking for new clubs for at least Eduardo, Erhan Bayrakci and Dick Adam as they all want more first team football than I can give. It's sad as they have all been vital in getting us to where we are, but they have been overtaken in the pecking order. Ruben Sanchez is grumbling about a larger club, and why not, he's turning into an awesome goalkeeper.
As ever, it wouldn't be a squad report without a word from Ghiles Mazari. That word, inevitably, is goal. He now has 4 Golden Boots in 5 years.
Ruben Sanchez
Ghiles Mazari
Multiple Golden Boot wins
Short term plan from last season
"Maybe a semi, maybe a final?" Okay, so I got a final, just the wrong one. Partial success.
Short term plan for next season
We must be due to be seeded second soon, so if the first 11 stay fit, we might have a chance of a decent run this year.
Other news
Senior training gets another improvement this season, and is now up to 3 gold stars. Still pushing for more, with varied results.
I have joined Mourinho (at Real Madrid) and Ancelotti (at Barcelona) as one of only three World Class rated managers in the game.
I dont see the logic here board, please explain further
Belgium in the world
Another dismal failure from the other Belgian teams in Europe, but it looks like we're going to overtake Ukraine this season, and Holland are definitely in our sights. If we can get past them, we get one more European place.

Yerko: Well done on completing the challenge!
vurogj: Unstoppable i Belgium I see, now it is the CL-trophy that matters. Good luck.
mshort22: Hope you will have a good time in Cymru.
Ok guys, I have a player Adis Hadziosmanovic (newgen) who has his first nationality listed as Swedish (he was born in Sweden) and his second nationality as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He makes his Swedish debut in a friendly against Spain. Then he gets called up to the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, gets capped for them in a competive game agaisnt Portugal and is now listed as Bosnia and Herzegovinian.
So with my own personal Nordic player only rule, should I keep him or sell him???

I'd say keep him, he was born in Sweden after all, not your fault he took the strange decision to change alliances![]()
Think I will be keeping him.I'd actually dropped him for four games while I decided.

Serves him right for trying to mess with your game![]()
