As usual, sunday league footballer Canadian/Hong Kong manager Ricky Nakano will be starting unemployed and starting at the US starting date of January 2011. I have no concerns about the speed since I did this last year as well...

Goals: The usual ones, manage TFC (or Vancouver), manage the Canadian team to glory. And of course try and be the best manager in the world, but for this I will try and manage in countries I've never managed in before.

Now let's get this on the road! :D

SANTO ANDRÉ - After many different rumours coming out deliberating who will be the next manager of Brazilian Serie C club E.C. Santo André, the board have chosen an unknown Canadian/Hong Kong manager Ricky Nakano. In a short statement, Nakano is excited about the challenge of managing in Brazil and taking the club to greater heights. He has signed a 2 year contract until the end of 2012 with an annual salary of $100,000 USD.

The first priority is preforming well the state competition, the Campeonato Paulista, before competing in Serie C the latter half of the season.

-----

So I'm going to start at the bottom in Brazil....and somewhere I never managed before as well.

Cheers guys. :)

Crouchy my computer isn't that great...a 2.1Ghz dual core CPU with 4 GB of ram. A lot have better specs than me but I've tested these very big saves enough to expect a decent performance. Yeah the loading and saving times are going to take a while but it's only a little waiting. :)

Gotta remember that the state championship is filled with a lot of higher division teams. Not a very fun competition to play in when you are a 3rd division Brazilian team up against 1st division teams.

I thought we actually did pretty well against the Serie A clubs. We lost every single game but the quality of play was encouraging. It was drawing/losing against teams similar to our level that I did not like at all. TBF though I joined when the state championships were ongoing so I pretty much had to adjust on the fly which made things more challenging. Our scoring was non existent so that's the priority in preparation for Serie C.

FYI the board want promotion back to Serie B and I would like promotion as well.

Brazil, nice! Looking forward to this one!

Did you get to play any fellow Serie C teams during the State Championship to get a feel for whether promotion is a realistic prospect?

I have no idea because we lost to Fourth Division and Lower Division clubs... :D

Reputation wise, we should definitely get promoted (Santo Andre were relegated from both Serie A and B the last couple seasons!). We had the least amount of goals in the State Championship but we were mid pack in goals conceded so if we can find someone who can score some goals consistently we'll be in good shape.

In other news, Dominic Kinnear has been sacked from the Houston Dynamo. The weird thing is the fact they were 3rd in the East and weren't doing too badly...Gary Smith is also sacked from Colorado, and Rennie and Winter are on the hot seat at Vancouver and TFC respectively.

Yeah, I've already seen Houston, Colorado and now New York sack coaches, and I'm only to early June.

Good luck rancer, will be following this. Not too many tycoon owners in Brazil Serie C ;)

Haven't been that low in the Brazilian structure for a while. From what I remember, it was tough to get anywhere near promotion due to a ridiculous amount of playoffs.

2011 Season Review - E.C Santo André - Campeonato Brasileiro Série C

Logo_ecsa.png

Campeonato Paulista Standings | Fixtures | Past Positions - It was much of a struggle throughout the State Championships once I joined the club after the 3rd game of the season. I didn't have much luck with winning any games, until my lucky breakthrough in the 7th one (early goal and a penalty). The whole season was horrible for us and was highlighted by a loss to Mogi Mirim, who managed to win their only game of the season against us.

Série C 1st Stage | Série C 2nd Stage | Série C Fixtures | Série C Final - After a little break between the playoffs of the Campeonato Paulista and the start of the Série C season I made some adjustments to hopefully improve the squad and after 4 games I thought 'dejavu again'...but then I slightly tweaked the tactics a bit to try and find a way to win some games and we kept winning...and winning...and winning till the 2nd leg of the Final which we lost on penalties. But it didn't really matter to me because we finished top 2 in the Second Stage, which meant promotion to Série B!!! :D

Transfers - These players were key in preventing me from getting relegated from the State Championships and getting promotion:

Roger - initially loaned for depth, he turned into a pretty good player my first choice left back was injured

Muralha - provided a stable influence on the midfield all season

Matheus Carvalho - he scored 5 goals and 4 assists in only 13 games for a very good season on loan. Hopefully I can get him back next season

Fabiano Oliveira - a solid 6 goals and 2 assists in 15 games. He will be back next season as he's on 2 season loan from Flamengo

Eduardo Luiz - a stable presence at centreback and scored some key goals.

César - he was the starting GK for most of the season and he didn't disappoint. Even despite our terrible record in the State Championships, he wasn't the reason we lost

Amilton - he was a solid contributor at AMC most of the season.

Squad 1 | Squad 2 - A solid squad with the additions of the loan signings and much improved since when I was initially at the club.

Team MVP - Luisinho Paulista - because he was with the club the whole season and was the leading goal scoring and scored when we most needed him

Goals:

- avoid relegation

- be competitive in the State Championship

Cheers B.W.G, roganp, Flamers, karax and iseemonsters!

We lost a lot of money last season (although now we have over $2 million in TV revenue!) but I will still be slightly increasing payroll this season. I will not allocate wage budget into the transfer budget because we can improve the squad without spending loads on transfer fees.

I think we can get a mid-table finish. This squad is good enough.

OTOH made my first bonehead move by accidentally letting another Mexican club poach my ass man so need to find a new one before the season begins....

Congrats on the promotion though with Santo André that was fairly predictable ;) (albeit the Brazilian Serie C is never truly easy to escape from). Now the real battle begins.

Tobias looks great, quite lucky there.

Cheers noikeee! The board wanted promotion so I pretty much had to get promotion or else. :D

Promotion already? Pah... ;)

Plenty of decent youngsters coming through too. Tobias will turn out great

I presume you're playing quite a narrow formation? They don't seem to do wingers in Brazil!

Cheers AK22. My formation is a narrow 4-3-1-2 with 3 CMs and AMC which I hope Tobias will fill eventually. First few games at the club I had to decide on a formation. I didn't like the default 4-2-2-2 one...

And I thought you were a sadist for playing in the MLS! Brazil is even more complicated! ;):D. Looks like you're having no problems though with promotion in your first season .

Maybe its just the Americas in general :)

Cheers Raware, Nobby, and cerud for the comments. :)

Considering how I've tackled complicated league setups like MLS and Indonesia, Brazil isn't really much different. :D

Already past midway through the season. Had a successful season in the State Championships and now hoping to do well in Serie B. Midtable will do and anything more is a bonus!

2012 Season Review - E.C Santo André - Campeonato Brasileiro Série B

Logo_ecsa.png

Campeonato Paulistao Standings | Fixtures | Past Positions - A much improved squad fared a lot better in the State Championships, and we managed to make the playoffs as a 7th seed, but we lost narrowly to Corinthians in the Quarter-Final

Série B Standings | Fixtures 1 | Fixtures 2 | Past Positions - A fantastic season! I really didn't expect, but during that run in the middle of the season I thought it became a big possibility, and despite the fact that the squad seemed to have went on the holidays a month early we still managed to get the job done!

Copa do Brasil - as usual, we exit the competition at the second round

Transfers - we continued to sign reinforcements to improve the squad for Série B.

Audalio - signed before the 2012 season, he was a stable presence wherever he played. Some teams wanted him during the season but I kept saying no.

Wendel - another loanee, Wendel managed to help out the team whenever he could.

Marcelo Godri - another good versatile player who chipped in when he could

Everton Sena - acquired on loan, Sena really helped out our backline and scored some very timely goals.

Weverton - snapped up on a free, he came midseason when our form wasn't so good, and directly helped us to get promotion, and nearly winning the league.

Squad 1 | Squad 2 - A very good squad, but we had a lot of loans and I hope to cut back on them. Some of them were from parent club Flamengo and they will probably terminate the agreement so we need to find some replacements quick because the State Championships are going to start again in mid-January.

Team MVP - Matheus Carvalho

Overview | Facilities | Finances | Affiliations

We lost money again but I can't really do much about it. We just need a lot more fans at the stadium to support us....

Goals:

- avoid relegation (I don't think it'll be as easy as this season...)

- much of the same in the State Championships. Playoffs would be good.

Other:

- we are now able to scout everywhere!

- we improved our junior coaching to 'average'

- the board have decided to buy the stadium, but we don't really have the funds....
