Question regarding activation

Hi everyone just a quick question (but a slightly technical one),

Basically, I currently live in a halls of residence in France and can only connect through the internet through my browser using a proxy (i.e Steam can't connect to the internet). I was wondering whether activation is done through the Steam client or in the browser? Saves me a trip to McDonalds to use their WiFi if its in the browser!

You'll be buying a big mac I'm afraid. Once you have activated online, you want to switch to offline mode in steam to make sure you can play when your back at the halls

when you have activated through steam, make sure you check that the steam client is fully upto date, and that the "dont save account credentials to this computer" box is not ticked.
