Guest NikDut
Is it true that every wonderkid regens in the game is the duplicate of real life past stars from the database ? If so, can you recognized any of them ? Post them here if you can.
Stampler
no, this is wrong. it used to be like that in earlier versions of CM, but not anymore.
Scab
That's where the term "regen" originally comes from, nowadays they're "newgens", generated from scratch with their own individual attributes.
FMtillidie
when you dont tick add real players are some of them the same players with the same stats with a different name info etc?
Scab
All that feature does is change some data like player names of the real people in the db, it doesn't actually generate newgens the way club youth intakes do instead of using the real db.

Actually, I think it does generate new players rather than changing names 'cos when I tried it I didn't recognise any players on the Sheffield Wednesday team (my favourite club so I know what I'm talking about) from their positions, ages, nationalities or stats (had a cheeky check with the editor just to be sure) so they obviously don't just change names and stuff. If they are completely changed then there is no way to tell if they are newgens or not. Unless you have inside info, in which case I bow to your superior knowledge
Guest NikDut
Surely the newgens doesn't necessarily "born" to the same club......
MrPompey
the new gens are as it says. Newgens clearly wont be regens of explayers born to the same club.
Wiitastic
obviously more newgens come into the saved game in playable leagues than they do in view only leagues or even non active leagues
Administrators Neil Brock Posted July 13, 2011 Administrators Share Posted July 13, 2011 Yeah in the last few versions of FM there are no such thing as 'Regens' (or regenerated players), it's only Newgens (newly generated players) which come into the game. These have no influence from a specific past player.
bigdanio
Used to be an easy way to scout. Zidane retires, now look out for a French, creative, midfield player. Adams retires, now look out for an English, brave, centre half.
jb10billion
Yea i remember the regens. I used to have the GPF program which showed me the new name of every player, e.g. Paul Ince. I had Alan Shearers regen at Napoli!
Stampler
i used to place the oldies on my shortlist and after they retired the regen was there instead didnt work in every CM, but in one of the 1st ones it did for sure
