The 1000 Appearance Challenge

Recommended Posts

Rules:

  • Friendlies do not count
  • International Friendlies DO count
  • European games DO count
  • The players has to be a regen
  • The player DOES NOT have to come through your youth
  • Only appearances under your management count
  • A screenshot is needed for proof, one at the end of each season. Or one of the Best XI.
  • Substitute appearances count, but don't sub then on in the 89th minute just to do this challenge
  • 1000 isn't the entrance point to the HoF, 750 is but 1000 is the goal.

Players will be added at the end of their career!

The rules may well be updated if I have missed anything.

*Due to a Overall best 11 bug it only registered 1008 but I have no reason to doubt the total.

This is not going to be doable. The top leagues that will allow maximum games are all too small. Maybe if you could keep winning the EL whilst remaining in the Championship/Second Division, you could do it?

In just league appearances and international caps Chris Wood has over 600 at 32.

The goal isn't 100 but as high as you can get. I think it's possible with a player playing every game from 18 to 32 (I.e cup as well) and being capped since 18 it's possible

I did it in FM09 with a goalkeeper who never had an international cap, so it is doable, just very hard (hence a challenge) - I'll try and find some pics of my legendary keeper.

Here is an Overall Best XI shot of my FM09 Merthyr Tydfil save in 2040 showing my keeper Chris Thompson with 1,012 games for Merthyr Tydfil (he had also played 1 game on loan).

Proof of 1,000 apperances

And here his is at his prime: Chris Thompson

If your wondering how a player who was not good enough to earn a international call up from Wales managed to play over 1,000 games for me, it was because I was palying the GYAC challenge which involves not signing any players, and from the age of 17 to the age of 36 or so he was the best keeper I had to chose from (he ended up retiring at 39).

You can read a bit of history about him here: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/166749-The-FM-Give-Youth-A-Chance-Challenge/page5#500

Here is my player who might get close to the 1,000 Appearance Challenge.

psmith.jpg

He has just broke into the England team which will help his total.

totalapps.jpg

So far; 162 appearances at end of 2014/15 season. 19 appearances in current season with 10 International games.

Total so far 191.

Will post Best XI at end of each season.

I totally agree with you Flamers, a defender would be easier. This striker happened to come through the academy just when I needed a new forward, so he got quite a few games when he was 16. He is now 21, I am guessing he will need to be playing until his mid 30's to get anywhere near 1,000 appearances.

Only one International cap since last update. England manager Roberto Mancini didn't take Paul Smith to the 2016 European Championships even though he scored 49 in 50 games, in all competitions!

308 appearances so far. Its world cup year as well so hopefully a few more caps. Ill be lucky if i still have him by the end of the summer though as real madrid and inter are interested and my chairman accepts any bid over my head, hes already sold 4 of my players without me having any say. No idea why as the finances are fine.

Here's my entry. He's now made 150 appearances in all competitions, 98 of which have been in the Premier League. He also has 37 caps. Not bad going for a 20 year old I think. Has kept clear of injuries too, so I'm looking to get him consistently playing 50 games a year.

He looks really good! Plus his stamina and natural fitness dont hurt ;), And since he has played so many games already at the age of 20 he should easily make it if he stays injury free.

Another season down for Judd, another 53 starts in all competitions. He's also added to his caps, playing a pivotal role in the England team that won the Confederations Cup. He's on 194 club appearances and 49 international appearances. Well on course for 1000 games.

Got a few possible contenders here, although the fact that I've already tried (and failed) my hand at England management might make it rather hard for me. How on earth do you get a 37 year old scoring 54 goals?!

Sorry for late reply (in Spain with limited internet access)

All down to it being a terrible league, mostly semi pro with only 3 pro teams out of 16, and a tactic designed specifically to give him chances.

A couple of possible contenders for me:

Zakhar Sidelnikov is probably not quite going to make it I fear, due to some injuries a little earlier in his career. But it is still possible. Aged 26, his 377 appearances for Arsenal are extended to 446 with his Russian caps. 554 in ten years is possible, if difficult.

Jordan Taylor is only 19 but has racked up (exactly) 100 games for Arsenal, and has 1 cap to his name, too, which he might well add to.

A few others who have just started might stand a chance too, but not worth thinking about till they're established in the side.

No individual pick for Iker since he's now retired.

Does it matter what the matches are?

You can see Marti Porras, it says he has 309.. when I tally them up, he has 333 club appearances. Are we counting super cups, community shield, club world cup?

Porras has all his international caps under me as well, so right now if you include all internationals and all competitive club matches (ie, everything but friendlies), he's got 366 in total and he's only 22. Should be close to 400 by the time this season is over.
