    Default The 1000 Appearance Challenge

    Rules:
    • Friendlies do not count
    • International Friendlies DO count
    • European games DO count
    • The players has to be a regen
    • The player DOES NOT have to come through your youth
    • Only appearances under your management count
    • A screenshot is needed for proof, one at the end of each season. Or one of the Best XI.
    • Substitute appearances count, but don't sub then on in the 89th minute just to do this challenge
    • 1000 isn't the entrance point to the HoF, 750 is but 1000 is the goal.

Players will be added at the end of their career!

The rules may well be updated if I have missed anything.

    Leader board:
    Code:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |Player |Appearances |User |Version |Proof |

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |William Ackter |1008 |Actker |FM 11 |http://goo.gl/ifDmj |
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Due to a Overall best 11 bug it only registered 1008 but I have no reason to doubt the total.

    This is my main contender:

    http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/u...0/FM11/393.jpg

That makes it 32 and 2 International caps

This is not going to be doable. The top leagues that will allow maximum games are all too small. Maybe if you could keep winning the EL whilst remaining in the Championship/Second Division, you could do it?

In just league appearances and international caps Chris Wood has over 600 at 32.

The goal isn't 100 but as high as you can get. I think it's possible with a player playing every game from 18 to 32 (I.e cup as well) and being capped since 18 it's possible

I did it in FM09 with a goalkeeper who never had an international cap, so it is doable, just very hard (hence a challenge) - I'll try and find some pics of my legendary keeper.

Here is an Overall Best XI shot of my FM09 Merthyr Tydfil save in 2040 showing my keeper Chris Thompson with 1,012 games for Merthyr Tydfil (he had also played 1 game on loan).

    Proof of 1,000 apperances

And here his is at his prime: Chris Thompson

If your wondering how a player who was not good enough to earn a international call up from Wales managed to play over 1,000 games for me, it was because I was palying the GYAC challenge which involves not signing any players, and from the age of 17 to the age of 36 or so he was the best keeper I had to chose from (he ended up retiring at 39).

You can read a bit of history about him here: http://community.sigames.com/showthr...enge/page5#500

Anyone still trying this? Here's my entrant. Hopefully he can replace Samaras in the Greece starting line up soon.

Does it include cup games such as FA cup etc, if so he has 146 appearances so far at the age of 20. I've not yet made it to continental competitions and he's still playing for the under 21's so hes on 134 league games. He's got leading premier league potential so you never know!

Here is my player who might get close to the 1,000 Appearance Challenge.

He has just broke into the England team which will help his total.

So far; 162 appearances at end of 2014/15 season. 19 appearances in current season with 10 International games.

    Total so far 191.

Will post Best XI at end of each season.

Good luck! If it helps I think this might be easier on a defender. I'm not saying it's impossible on a striker though!

I totally agree with you Flamers, a defender would be easier. This striker happened to come through the academy just when I needed a new forward, so he got quite a few games when he was 16. He is now 21, I am guessing he will need to be playing until his mid 30's to get anywhere near 1,000 appearances.

Only one International cap since last update. England manager Roberto Mancini didn't take Paul Smith to the 2016 European Championships even though he scored 49 in 50 games, in all competitions!

(FM08) For East Belfast, Paul Spence: 1536 appearances including 140 international caps, may be more but I haven't opened that save for ages.

Got a few possible contenders here, although the fact that I've already tried (and failed) my hand at England management might make it rather hard for me. How on earth do you get a 37 year old scoring 54 goals?!

259 appearances so far, the france team is ageing so he's starting to break into that aswell. Having a problem with his morale every season which seems to vary all the time and can go from superb to very poor without any obvious reason.

308 appearances so far. Its world cup year as well so hopefully a few more caps. Ill be lucky if i still have him by the end of the summer though as real madrid and inter are interested and my chairman accepts any bid over my head, hes already sold 4 of my players without me having any say. No idea why as the finances are fine.

Can you be the international boss as well? I was manager of England before the guy came through my system, but I fast-tracked him into the England squad at 16/17 to try and make him the most capped England player ever.

Here's my entry. He's now made 150 appearances in all competitions, 98 of which have been in the Premier League. He also has 37 caps. Not bad going for a 20 year old I think. Has kept clear of injuries too, so I'm looking to get him consistently playing 50 games a year.

He looks really good! Plus his stamina and natural fitness dont hurt , And since he has played so many games already at the age of 20 he should easily make it if he stays injury free.

Another season down for Judd, another 53 starts in all competitions. He's also added to his caps, playing a pivotal role in the England team that won the Confederations Cup. He's on 194 club appearances and 49 international appearances. Well on course for 1000 games.

Sorry for late reply (in Spain with limited internet access)

All down to it being a terrible league, mostly semi pro with only 3 pro teams out of 16, and a tactic designed specifically to give him chances.

Forgot to take a screenshot at the end of the season... 561 so far, probably has about 3 or 4 more 50-60 game seasons left in him before it goes downhill

I'm on FM09, thought I might have a shout with a striker I've had since he was about 19 and played pretty much every game of the season.

    In 12 seasons he's made 520 appearances.

Not bad! Strikers are hard to do it with IMHO defensive players are easier

A couple of possible contenders for me:

Zakhar Sidelnikov is probably not quite going to make it I fear, due to some injuries a little earlier in his career. But it is still possible. Aged 26, his 377 appearances for Arsenal are extended to 446 with his Russian caps. 554 in ten years is possible, if difficult.

Jordan Taylor is only 19 but has racked up (exactly) 100 games for Arsenal, and has 1 cap to his name, too, which he might well add to.

A few others who have just started might stand a chance too, but not worth thinking about till they're established in the side.

667 appearances so far, still in the France squad but he is no longer in the starting 11. He's had a slight drop in pace and i expect his physical stats to decrease faster over the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Just realised that 750 is the entry point for the HoF. I'll definitely get several players on that list! 1000 is very tough, though. Even Sidelnikov, who's been a regular since the age of 18, looks unlikely to get there (he has 400 at aged 25...).

Hence why I set a lower entry point Hitting 1000 requires a REALLY special player.

Nice striker davidbowie, a bit low on bravery but very nice!

Do you wait to include them in the HoF until their career is over? Or can they start when they hit 750 and keep going?

706 appearances, had one of his best seasons for me so far. He's got strong competition with 2 very strong LM's in the team so his chances are going to become fewer and fewer. No longer in the national team either.

My best X1 from about 4 seasons ago:

When I get back home next week I'll post an updated one which has Adriano on 990 (he's over 1,000 but a bug if a player retires during their last season will wipe away that season's appearance record). Will Ackter also has about 100 more appearances than show here.

I think Sidelnikov is going to make it! He should get close to 200 Russian caps, which means only three more complete seasons required for Arsenal.....he might even get up close to 1250 if he plays till he's 36/37...

I've been attempting this challenge as a little side gig to keep my interest in a long-term game. It is quite a challenge, and is now my main focus in the game.

I basically just sign under 17 players each season, and immediately get the best ones into the team as soon as possible if I feel they are good enough. Got one Italian CB who I signed at 16, is now 24 and the best defender in the world. I have only got him to about 400 games though, despite playing him at every possible opportunity. I figure he will have to keep playing until about 36 to make a thousand, assuming he gets no long-term injuries.

If he doesn't make it I have a conveyor belt of players behind him all going for the same goal, the only position I lack is a keeper, which probably has the best chance. I'll come back in another 12 seasons and let you know how I get on.

The good thing about this challenge is that I have developed probably my best squad ever by going for all these youth players.

Yeah like Kenco I've been using this (and the youth player project) challenge to keep me as interested as possible in my current save. Currently I have Eddy Esteve on 329 appearances at the age of 22, should be over 350 by the end of my current season. He'll probably need another 11-12 years without any serious injuries but I reckon it's possible.

It's the most interested I've been in a single player game of FM ever I think.

11 seasons done in about 3 months, and it's getting more exciting the further I go. Club legend, stadium named after me and top manager in hall of fame already. Still waiting on a son though. Mrs Kenco isn't trying hard enough!

How long do you think Sidelnikov has? What age do Premiership DCs usually retire, assuming they're still in the first team?

Should be fine now - just 49 appearances left and he's still playing for Russia. Could be on for 1,250!!!

The most bizarre thing about that screenshot is not that he didnt play for his country but that he isnt the first choice in your Best XI!!

Zakhar has done it! Will update the post of his career at the end of the season - and he should still have a couple of years to bring his total up. At 34, he's still playing for Russia, too - 154 caps now!!

Will also post his total career stats - including a career average rating - when he retires.

Not quite, in his late 30s he was crap so his average rating slipped and in his last season he was relegated to the bench.

Out of interest, Sidelnikov made 1,101 appearances for Arsenal (not including Russia). He scored 145 goals (probably all headers!), 46 assists and 57 man of the match awards. His career average rating plummeted during his final few years but ended up at a very respectable 7.19. At one point it was over 7.30 which is, I think pretty impressive for a central defender!!

Adriano's 210 Brazilian caps puts him on nearly 1250 appearances

    https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._2556755_n.jpg

Will Ackter's 167 Wales caps also puts him somewhere around the 1250 mark

The figure on there is inaccurate as I believe it doesnt count seasons where he didnt appear on the seasonal XI. Only a couple but still below the summary shot. However, here it is.

It might have done that but it was inaccurate from before that, so it's not just that. Also, he retired after the end of the season when I offered him a contract as a coach - he had actually planned to have one more season as a player.....

Thanks for putting him on the wall of fame! His full name is Zakhar, though. :-P

I have a player who I think might be able to make it: 27 years old at the moment and has played (according to my own calculations and not the Best XI page which I believe is wrong) 577 club games for me, plus has 83 caps for his country and clocked 21 Youth caps for his country also.

The best part is he is a striker playing in the Premier League, has an awful temper/disciplinary record and frequently gets himself injured. He is the talisman of my side and has 350 goals and 240 assists in his club/senior international career, it's just a shame I only discovered him towards the end of his first season in the game, his stats were off the rails for a 15 year old and he's been a first teamer since he came at the start of his 2nd season as a 16 year old.

Only just discovered this thread, my initial target was for him to break the Premier League scoring record (360 goals set by a Liverpool regen), but I think Valentin is well on the road to make 1000 appearances at all levels. 45 games per season until he turns 35 is about what he has done throughout his career.
