I hope so bud. I've had to strengthen with a couple of loans as opposed to signing players but I'm quietly confident having only lost Tshibasu from last season of my main players.

I know, there's zero World Cup goals for 3 years in every 4, such a boring competition.

2024/5 - Newcastle Town (League Two)
It's where it takes us 44 games to get to the same point we were at last season.

    Board: Respectable position
    Media: 11th
    Bookies: 25-1
    Season tickets: 516 (up 23)

    We start well.
We improve further and go on a long consecutive scoring run of 22 in the league, which pushed us up to third. In the middle of this was an embarrassing FA Cup defeat.
Then we lost three in a row. All at home.
The ship steadied and we recovered.
We improve back up to third with two games left, the first at home to fourth placed Tranmere...

A superb performance and we would have been promoted had Oxford United not won also. We need a draw at Fleetwood in the final game and hope Oxford don't win by thirteen goals to go up. Essentially, if we avoid defeat, we're up.

A nervy win, the goalscoring hero being Mehdi Mejri, an under 21 Tunisian international who was signed from, of all places, Inter Milan in the January transfer window of last season. Shame he'll be leaving for Norwich on a Bosman.

    Brooks Watch

Brooks is now established in Manchester United's and England's teams and is turning out to be the kind of star I knew he would be when I first signed him.

Well done on the promotion and good luck surviving in League 1.

That Brooks fella turned out rather special. Good to see a kid going to a big team not being wasted in the reserves too.

Newcastle United have been in the Premier League the entire game, finishing a highest of 8th in 2019/20 and lowest of 17th in 2022/3. It looks like it will take a while yet!

This has taken a lot of reading but it was well worth it! The first thread I've seen someone get relegated in!

I got relegated in my FM11 save

Seems to be fairly easy to avoid it unless you're on a one-club save. Even then, it's rare.

Edit: And my current save for that matter. Although it wasn't exactly my fault.

It definitely should be. But can you imagine the tidal wave of angst and bile in GD if they made the game tougher?

It was said more in jest than anything Snake!

I agree, it should be more often but we are a minority of people who want it to be realistic!

Nobby, I'm sure you'll cobble together some tactical scheme to tease enough 0-0 draws to keep you up.

    Thanks fella.

Managed to throw away a lead in our first home game and lost. Yet we can beat West Brom of the Championship in the League Cup.

I hope it's not going to be one of those seasons.

Thanks in part to having almost all countries loaded (but not all divisions in each country) and my expanding scouting network, reputation and shortlist, this game is beginning to chugg along in the two transfer windows.

It's probably the only time I've wanted Manchester United to win!

I didn't notice who scored first, but there was just over 60,000 in attendance.
In regards to Truro's match at Premier League Bristol City, Bristol City were 2-0 in three minutes. Shame Truro lost the replay.

2025/6 - Newcastle Town (League One)
It's where we stick two fingers up to everybody making a prediction

    Board: Fight bravely
    Media: 24th
    Bookies: 33-1
    Season tickets: 1070 (up 554)

A new sponsorship deal sees the kit sponsorship more than triple to £45,130 per season in a deal lasting three seasons. I also get a new deal, down £25 to £900 per week and a three year extension, giving me four years on my deal.

Our first game is a 2-0 defeat at Bradford City where we played well but got outclassed, though between losing our opening two league games, we beat West Brom in the League Cup who would later win promotion to the Premier League.
Our first win is two games later, 3-0 at Torquay who would turn out to be the division's whipping boys.
Despite a few injuries we start well and are in the top half entering October. We then become the comeback kings, turning deficits into wins and propel us into a promotion push. Come Christmas, this push is a strong one.
Our challenge starts to fade but we fight more injuries to come back and push for the playoffs, only to just miss out.

FA CUP SECOND ROUND: Bradford City 1 Newcastle Town 0
LEAGUE CUP SECOND ROUND: Newcastle Town 1 Wigan Athletic 2
JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHY NORTH FIRST ROUND: Bury 2 Newcastle Town 0

    Top rating: Jӧrg Müller 7.16

    Brooks Watch

Although Manchester United didn't win anything, Brooks played more often for them in the league and enjoyed another good season. He'll very likely be in England's World Cup squad.

Does he have good work ethic? That's the main thing. And of course, that he doesn't bend in corners but chips them.

I find it awesome that you've started this thread over a year ago, have only played about a decade of seasons, are still relatively far from the heights of top football, and are still insisting on continuing the career. That's some resilience.

Promise I'll give it a proper read one of these days.

God, I can't remember off hand. I'd have to check the game but I think the initial fee was £275,000 and then I sold his sell on clause for £1,800,000 which allowed us to improve all the training facilities and buy Hewlett.

It's not difficult when it's a team I have a great affinity for. I live close enough to the ground to be able to hit a few golf shots and reach it. Not been to a game for ages though, I'd rather play golf these days truth be told.

Away from this update and back to old ones... somebody in the LLM forum has managed to find a lot of old LLM update threads at some forum where none of the Llamas have ever been too.
Anyway, here is my first ever update epic, played with Billericay Town on CM01/02.
    http://sports.fitness.com/threads/78...-is-Billericay
There are links at the bottom of that first page to my other two Billericay epics.

Apologies for some wonky coding. Clearly the coding on the old SI forum format doesn't match the forum they've ended up on.

I'm going to reread them when I have more time.

You'll need a while but I think you will enjoy it and it will give insight into why I have an affinity with Billericay Town despite the fact I have no connection to them other than through Football Manager.

The format of the first update was hardly to LLM requirements.

    Thanks Raware.

Well done to Angola for getting through the group stage, and Iraq for getting to the World Cup. UAE too for that matter, they rarely make it there.

I'm a little disappointed with my new stadium. I was expecting the 6867 capacity stadium to be all seated but there are only 1716 seats. Add to this it is comprised of one decent covered seated stand and three open terraces, and the condition of the stadium is only listed as average, it's disappointing.

Even so, 6618 came to the first match there.

Nice result to christen the new ground! I'm also surprised it's not an all-seater, although perhaps your board are staunchly behind the campaign to introduce safe standing?

    FA Cup Special

After overcoming Stockport (League Two) 2-0 in the First Round and then thrashing Brigg (top of the Northern Premier League) 8-0 in the Second Round, we drew Birmingham (12th in Premier League) in the Third Round

Our first ever win over Premier League opposition and our reward is a trip to West Brom who prop up the Premier League at the time of writing.
Equally stunning, we haven't drawn a single match all season, including pre season friendlies.

    Elsewhere in the Third Round...
    CHELTENHAM TOWN 1 Southampton 3
HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH 1 Stoke City 3
HINCKLEY UNITED 1 Manchester City 5

    Great game!

Taking a wild guess, your points tally is a multiple of 3?

Me and my big fat mouth. The next match after I wrote this is a 1-1 home draw with Portsmouth. On 9th January.

Great cup win. Wish there were scores and team names in these videos though. It's often hard to know what team people are managing.

The clue is the fact I've only managed Newcastle Town in this save.

I've just been appointed as manager of Tunisia. Tunisia got knocked out of the group stage of the African Nations Cup. At the moment there are no competitive fixtures lined up, so I'll report further when something happens.

Will be interesting to see if your new international job interferes with your club job. Well done on the appointment as well . Not easy to get an international job.

Great story Simon. I'm still using FM2010 and hesitating for 12 due to the Steam issue. I look forward to seeing the updates

2026/7 - Newcastle Town (League One)
It's where we folded like cards

    Board: Respectable position
    Media: 12th
    Bookies: 33-1
    Season tickets: 1262 (up 192)

We move into the 6867 (1716 seated) capacity Newcastle Town Stadium and we christen it in front of 6618 and demolish Swindon Town 5-0.
An excellent start sees us win our first four and after a quarter of a season we're challenging.
Christmas comes. Bradford City and ourselves are clear. We haven't drawn all season, not even in pre season friendlies.
After the Birmingham cup win we don't win in seven and we drop down to 4th.
Bradford pull clear, we recover to fight with Preston and Swindon for second.
Swindon finish strongly to claim second, being especially good away from home. We have to settle with the playoffs where we edge past Scunthorpe before not turning up against Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley in my 900th game in charge.

PLAYOFF FINAL: Sheffield Wednesday 5 Newcastle Town 1

FA CUP FOURTH ROUND: West Bromwich Albion 3 Newcastle Town 1
LEAGUE CUP SECOND ROUND: Newcastle Town 2 Everton 5
JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHY NORTH QUARTER FINAL: Newcastle Town 1 Crewe Alexandra 3

    Top rating: Jӧrg Müller 7.22
Top goalscorer: Jӧrg Müller 33 in 54 games
Top league goalscorer: Jӧrg Müller 27 in 46 games

A poor season for Manchester United who didn't even qualify for Europe.
