2012/3 - Newcastle Town (Northern Premier League Premier Division)
It's going places we've never been before
Board: Fight bravely against relegation
Media: 21st
Bookies: 16-1
Season tickets: 93 (up 1)
A good league start where we don't lose in the first six games gets overshadowed by an embarrasing exit in the FA Cup. This starts a struggle for goals and results.
Through Winter the struggle continues and we're deep in the relegation fight.
In mid January I am offered a contract extension for a further year and wages of Ł275 per week (up Ł25). I sign and this sparks an upturn in form including two important wins at Vauxhall and Kendal.
The final third of the season is a battle but battle we did as we manage to stay up with one game to spare.

Northern Premier League First Division South Manager of the Season - 2011/2
David Morley has appeared on the club's favourite personnel list, while for some reason Liam Rushton has gone of it.
Only 3 Seasons completed ? Come on Nobster, get working.
Great season to establish yourself in the Northern Premier, Nobby! I think the favoured personnel lists are a bit off still this year.
Wow, lots of teams down there at the bottom all very close to each other. Good job to be on top of the pile, not down under it.![]()
Golf is one of those games noone cares about unless/until you play it. I'm still in the former camp, but could see myself picking it up one day when my knees are too shot for 5-a-side.
My girlfriend is pretty fantastic about me playing FM to be honest, if she's watching rubbish TV then she's happy for me to play it rather than suffering in silence. Plus if there's football on she'll go out to the gym, so I can sit here in my pants watching football, playing FM, and drinking beer - plus I get a fitter girlfriend![]()
I can just ask very nicely Snakexe, that works for me
Also I have now found a game she enjoys playing as well so she's more relaxed about the whole gaming thing
Flamers
What game is that? Mine likes playing Sims 3 on my phone, but that's about it.
CivilisationI brought Civ4 complete for Ł3.74 on Steam, keeps her happy
Flamers
Bargain! Don't think mine would like Civ though...
When I'm with the girlfriend, if some cack comes on TV like X Factor or other reality rubbish, I get some FM time then. Otherwise it's usually a couple of nights per week.
And not a chance I'm stopping the golf!
Snakexe mine used to play Civ 1 so she loves itand I can just hand her the ipod and shes fine :P
Flamers
Onto the men now, eh?![]()
The person must have bought a second dog as it has gone up one more for the next season.![]()
Yeh I was at the game last season and security told me I had to buy a ticket for Scruffy otherwise he couldnt come in. They said the Jerkwad manager had been tightening purse strings and they didnt even get health benefits anymore. And get THIS!? I now have to pay for my parrot Polly to come to the football as well.
Its an outrage I tell you!
Nobby! I remember reading your 2010 save and I love your updates! Will definitely be following this and at first I thought you had a bug because Liverpool won prem :L
Damn, I was going to make a Monty Python reference.![]()
Scout finds a player who is a former Icelandic under 21 international and has spent four seasons at Liverpool and not broke into the first team before being released. He looks like he will be a quality player for me.
I find he is willing to negotiate and pay an absolute fortune (for this level) in wages so he signs.
He plays cack and I question if he even knows what a goal is, never mind how he scores one.
Then he does this.
The first time I've ever seen a 10 given since the ratings went decimal.![]()
I had a couple last season, in friendlies though. I'm surprised he got the 10; he only won 6 of the 7 headers he tried.![]()
Wow, what a performance after all that preceding carpness! I had a 10.0 once on FM10, and once so far on the current game - each of which were also strikers who bagged 5.
After a short run of good form, he's gone cack again.![]()
Wow. I've never had a player get a 10. Hopefully you can a few more of those out of him.![]()
It's certainly odd that a player with his ability is so poor over so many games and then goes and puts in a performance that no one else in that division could pull off......guess it's the Leon Best effect.
Good to see Fulham rise to the occasion of the FA Cup Semi Final.
Tottenham are 4th in the Premier League and Fulham 10th so it's not like there is a big gap between them.
I wouldn't call the final game of the season where we need a result away to a team chasing a playoff spot to stay up a cause for celebration. I'm cacking myself personally.
Sounds like Mark Hughes is their Manager.

Enjoy your 200th game...hope you manage to stay up!
fingers crossed nobster

We have a new kit sponsorship deal for the next four years worth Ł2000 per season (no change).
We make a poor start to the season and sit in the drop zone after a few games.
Thankfully things improve and at Christmas we have reached midtable with Emilsson finally having started scoring goals.
I sign a one year extension to my contract with a Ł25 per week pay rise to Ł275.
But then our form dropped off again and we went into freefall, losing eight straight games and scoring just one in seven before briefly stopping the rot with a 4-2 win at second placed Marine.
My 200th match in charge is the final match of the season at Stafford Rangers. A draw isn't enough and we get relegated.

Bob Bradley has been appointed as the new manager of Manchester United following the retirement of Martin O'Neill.
You MUST be joking, right??????![]()
whos bob bradley lol...Its okay Avram Grant took over from Tony Mowbray on my save as Utd manager.
Tony Mowbray's managing Real Madrid on my save lol, anyway these updates are keeping me entertained so keep them up!
Tough season Nobby. I'm expecting you to bounce straight back up!
...And as for England winning the World Cup...well, I don't know what's more surprising. Winning it or beating Brazil on pens!
I wonder when people type lol if they are actually laughing out loud. The reason being is that a lot of people have a strange sense of humour with some of the things that are "lol'd" at.
I'm more hoping that expecting Raware!
This kid's a bit good... 18 years old, already my vice captain and banging in goals like this.
Shame we lost 2-1.
Packed stands too I see.
Lovely song on the first page btwAnd I don't mean the guy that was screaming some gibberish.
What a strike! He a youth lad or did you bring him in from elsewhere?
That goal from Lacey was something special.
Ah, but the thing is... there will only ever be one like Jimi Hendrix and that was Jimi.
I don't think there was a drugs shortage there.
Last edited by Nobby_McDonald; 27-01-2011 at 23:58.
Local boy done good then!
Jimi was something else alright, there's a few recordings/performances that give me tingles up by back, but noone does it half as often as he does. Funnily enough, another "cover better than original" scenario is - I believe - Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Hendrix's Little Wing.
Certainly when I learned it on guitar, that's the one I learned.
Incredible seeing Hendrix playing in front of a few hundred people in a field.![]()
To be fair... Hendrix had probably taken some 'leisurely substances' and thought it was a few thousand.![]()
Good cover there by Mr Vaughan.
good work, nobby. enjoyed reading this so far.
also, noticed the greydog forums in your task bar.![]()
Thanks Bob.
Yes, I do have a game of TEW 2010 on the go. There is a thread following my game in the dynasty section of the forum if you're interested.
Just wished I could free up Sunday nights to race in the F1 league full time, but alas, I have to earn the pennies to enable me to live.

We start well, being unbeaten in the first seven league games.
Things get even better as we go on a great run and haul ourselves top.
We maintain our strong form as we build a small but significant lead.
In the penultimate game we beat King's Lynn 4-0 to seal the title and promotion.
The celebration party is the home derby versus Kidsgrove Athletic. We win 2-1. All Town fans are jubilant.
